I think there are increasing murmurings going around that van Gaal will take over from Moyes after the World Cup. It would leave us with a shorter transfer window but other than that I don't see a down side. He is a fantastic coach with a brilliant tactical mind - he would also certainly get the best out of RVP. I know we have all said that Moyes will be given time, but say we lose to Olympiacos, Liverpool and are atill languishing in 6th or 7th with a few games to go are the board going to think Moyes can sort it? I don't think that they will.

If we don't stick with Moyes we are just as likely to have a rubbish window again

2.) 06 Mar 2014
You know what, I wanted Moyes to succeed I really did but I don't think he is tactically astute enough for Utd. Sure the players have been dreadful this year and they deserve the exit door in some cases but surely we've seen enough to see we might be better of with a world class manager at the helm.

Another thing is Van Gaal is 62 so we go for a short term replacement that is counter productive

4.) 06 Mar 2014
It will cost £25-30million to get rid of Moyes so I doubt they will sack him in the Summer. I recon he's got until Christmas. If were still under performing after vringing in some quality players, then things will have to change!

5.) 06 Mar 2014
If we were going to go for a stop-gap who is in his 60's, then it would be Guus Hiddink all the way for me. But I don't see it happening, I see Moyes getting another full season unless we don't improve by October. Better again I would have SAF back, but then who will replace him 1-2 years down the line? Can't see it myself.

What people seem to fail to see is what big name players want to play for Moyes? I asked this question when he got the job, are you telling me that he is known around the world and to the bigger players, I highly doubt it!
if we keep Moyes and fail to get into Europe, we are NOT going to attract the bigger players.
So what if he is 62. say he coaches till 70, that's 8 years we get out of him.

7.) 06 Mar 2014
Agree MS would be stupid to dump Moyes until he signs some players.

8.) 06 Mar 2014
Van Gaal might work for one season - but as always with him it will all end in tears. Hiddink, Ancellotti etc - those are the calibre of manager required - not Van gaal.

9.) 06 Mar 2014
Frank de Boer would be my other choice, I really rate his management.

In Moyes we trust. He will be manager next season.

11.) 06 Mar 2014
Haha Melwing, I think you're forgetting some Juan, it doesn't Mata about the manager, the club is what the player wants to play for.

On topic of this post, Moyes will be given until either January next season or the end of next season. He hasn't had a full summer transfer window yet, the first he had to assess the squad while learning everything about his new club, January is never a good time to buy decent players unless rare circumstances (Mata).

It'll cost MU money to sack him like MS mentioned, it'll also make the board and SAF look bad for appointing him in the first place.

12.) 06 Mar 2014
I cannot think it would cost £25-£30m to sack Moyes. I would fully expect him to have some performance targets - Champions League football being a minimum and it is looking unlikely. A contract without minimum achievements or targets would be unbelievable.

Purely my opinion, but I would be surprised if there is not a least some consideration of a change of manager. This season has been very poor and surely not was expected.

I don't get the "Will top players sign for Moyes?" issue.

A few observations;

1. Barcelona have appointed 3 managers in a row that were relatively unknown or unproven in management at the time, and it hasn't caused them any issues.
2. What % of players that sign and see out a 5 year contract have the same manager for the duration of the contract?

I get where people are coming from but still think players sign for the club and/or the money primarily and the manager secondary - especially when there is every chance the player will be at the club longer than the manager.

Ozwald. Mata wanted out of Chelsea as he wasn't playing and we were the only team to bid, let alone a crazy amount for him! He wants to play so that he makes the world cup squad. But like I said when he joined, he is playing out of position.

Of course the who the manager is helps signings of players. If you sign Pep, you know you'll play attacking football, Klopp you'll play fast attacking football, Jose you'll be tactically set up each game, Wenger you'll have arguably the best counter attacking team in the world. Moyes. let's hoof the ball around.
Would you at ANY stage in your career say Moyes will make you a better player, HIGHLY doubt it! All the other managers there have developed all sorts of players, can you say that about Moyes?
