I have supported Lvg from the start and he still has my backing. However some of his tactics, team selection and player positioning have been questionable.

First up Morgan Schneiderlin when I watched
him last season was box to box and up and down the pitch. When I watch him for us he's just a sitter and I don't think we see the best of him. It seems lvg has asked him to play this way.

Next is Wayne Rooney who at times is a passenger. He looks like something is missing from his game. He's a better player playing of the cuff but again it looks to me like the shackles are on that he's been told to stay in a certain position and not to drift from that. Rooney before was involved loads in games now he has very little impact. Is he the right captain I'm not sure to be honest he is. 250 grand a week we need to be getting far more out of him.

Darmian had started the season very well but when he comes up against a top player on that side he comes undone. I like him defence wise but his final ball going forward need to improve.

Depay I still expect him to come good but his performances have been poor.

Martial, Smalling and Mata have started well this season. I accept that under lvg we will play a different way but in the premier league but at times for me it's far too slow and that must change.

That said in the league we are third so It's not bad I just at times am confused as to what why lvg wants to play because at times some players seem confused about the positioning. I also wonder if players are happy with the position the coach asks them to play.

I really think if lvg was less cautious and took a little more risks we'd not only play better but see the best of certain players.

Only 7/8 games in so obviously players need time to gel I just really want lvg to get it right and the frustration is I think we can be better than we currently are.

I agree, I wish we were more swashbuckling in our approach - but that really isn't going to happen. It may do under the next manager though if that manager is Giggs.

Good post Irwin3. We have played the same for more than 7/8 games though. Last year was the same all of pre-season as well. Even clubs like Bruge we turned it on for a half and then played the same cagey way.

It starts at getting the defensive part of games right of course, but he isn't doing that by improving players knowledge, he is doing it by playing with more defensive midfielders and sacrificing our attack - it should be a balance. One injury to our injury prone defence and we are in disarray. When we attack in numbers which is rare, we look like anybody could score past us. I just worry that we are going around in circles, next summer could see several more incomings and outgoings and it just feels to me like we will never be able to have his perfect team, because it simply doesn't exist.

I just can't believe we are so thin squad wise and still have a lack of CB's, a RW and strikers. It's a dereliction of duty for me. We have suffered with a lot of injuries every season since I can remember, if it happens again we will be in real trouble.

He is also very very lucky that DDG signed that deal, because he has already saved us several points that Romero would have cost us. I think LVG is all about luck than judgement, whilst persisting with his ethos irrespective of scenario. His theories may seem good on paper, but football is an evolving sport, he needs to adapt not dig his heels in.

I agree Irwin3 with everything you have said. However, i am losing faith in LVG fast :(
I think this result was coming for a long time this season as i don't think i've seen us play convincing in more than 2 or 3 games and without Martial coming in we would have been in a lot more serious problems.
Lets be honest, if Martial gets injured and Rooney doesn't improve fast then we are in serious bother :(
I just feel that players don't just become bad over night so surely there is currently one main person to put the blame on and that's LVG ?

Agree with you Rocko11 mate, few years ago it was nomidfield, not its no defense and forwards.
Some of the tactics and starting 11s are bewildering.

Hope for the next manager to change and play forwards.

Thanks FZZ. LVG fan boys will disagree but that's how it was with Moyes at 1st but they came round in the end.
I really hope i am wrong but can't see it myself :(

There have to be question marks over any manager who leaves Herrera out on a regular basis.
