If anyone is interested, Ed002 has given a detailed update on the European page in regards to Dembele (Dortmund) and Bale.

No doubting Bale is absolutely sensational on his day but he needs to prove his fitness. His injury record surely is enough to put off any buying club given the fee he would command. I wonder if RM would be open to a loan-to-buy agreement.

I for one would be over the moon if we signed Bale. He would instantly become the best player in the league if fit we would win the league no doubt about it.

Obviously the big risk is fitness as a few have mentioned before, however if our medical staff believe he is fine then I will give them the vote.

Bale is a fantastic player would be great in a Jose team .

Weggy,

Calm down, no player guarantees you the title, I would say Alexis Sanchez was the best player in the premier league last season (at least in that position) and Arsenal didn't even finish top 4. Obviously he would give us a chance but to say we would win the league no doubt about it is a little naive.

5.) 26 Jul 2017
26 Jul 2017 12:55:36
I worry about his injury record and the cost of bringing him to Okd Trafford. As both of you mentioned, IF fit, he would easily be the best player in the league. I just don't think we would be able to rely on him for a sustained period of time. I would definitely be over the moon if he joined and proved his fitness.

Old* Trafford.

26 Jul 2017 13:10:54
While there is legitimate concerns regarding Bale's fitness he would be among the top 3 or 4 players in the league if signed and fit as well as becoming the best player in our squad. He can score goals from nothing and his last season at Tottenham was one of the finest individual seasons in PL history.

Having a full pre season might help him this season and personally I think we should try to sign him if available. He is the best player who is attainable for us.

come on GDS2 get on board. we sign BALE we will win the WORLD CUP :) he is that good haha.

See we have the bale fan club here again presumably all Welsh. Would rather keep what we have than add a sick note to our squad.

10.) 26 Jul 2017
26 Jul 2017 14:10:46
Was it naive to believe we would win the league when we signed RVP?

I personally believe we would storm the league with our current squad + Bale. You must remember we just signed one of the best strikers in the league as well.

I'd put money on us winning the league by a mile if we had a fit Gareth Bale all season.

11.) 26 Jul 2017
26 Jul 2017 14:14:42
And Allan I have no Welsh ties. You'd be silly to say no to one of the best wingers in world football.

You guys forgotten his last season with Spurs?

12.) 26 Jul 2017
26 Jul 2017 14:20:18
I am undecided on Bale. As mentioned above on his day he can be a game changer. But looking at his past season in LaLiga he spent just as long out of the team as he did in it.

made the squad 19 times out of 38 games.

Ed01 has mentioned in a different post, that for a player like bale who depends on rapid acceleration his injury record is a massive concern.

I would personally prefer to wait for Greizmann.

13.) 26 Jul 2017
26 Jul 2017 14:39:59
Oxford, why not sign Bale now and then sign Griezmann when he's available?

We're meant to be an elite club, might as well act like one.

14.) 26 Jul 2017
26 Jul 2017 14:52:36
Allan, pathetic comment. I actually am Welsh and it has no bearing on how I judge a player. He was sensational in his last season at Spurs and had been very good for Madrid when fit. If you think he wouldn't improve our side massively your deluded.

15.) 26 Jul 2017
26 Jul 2017 15:21:04
Weggy that would be brilliant and would give the squad a massive buzz now and then again next summer there is no doubt about that.

I would love to see both players in the squad this time next year but can't see it happening.

16.) 26 Jul 2017
26 Jul 2017 15:33:44
What would be delusional would be to pay 80m plus and say 300k per week for a player that RM managed perfectly well without last season using how well he played 3/ 4 years ago as justification. Injured more than Darren Anderton. We shouldn't consider signing someone with his fitness record.

17.) 26 Jul 2017
26 Jul 2017 16:26:58
I would not be surprised if we had at least one of them in our squad by this time next year.

I do think we're missing that 1 player who can win games on their own. It used to be Ronaldo/ Rooney/ Zlatan, but now we don't have anyone of that calibre in our attack.

18.) 26 Jul 2017
26 Jul 2017 16:55:43
I would not be adverse to the same situaiton as rodriguez and bayern.

A 2 year loan with an option to buy at the end.

This way we could "try before you buy" and if Bale can make it through a couple of seasons with no significant injuries then fantastic we will bite their hand off. If not send him back.

19.) 26 Jul 2017
26 Jul 2017 17:16:41
Based on his performances 3/ 4 years ago? You haven't seen any of him at Madrid then? I'd wager if he played 25 premier league games he's probably score more than Rashford, martial, miki, mata playing all of them.

20.) 26 Jul 2017
26 Jul 2017 19:42:11
Get a grip lad's. Real Madrid do not want to sell us anyone. Let's concentrate on Matic and Perisic and hope for the best.

21.) 26 Jul 2017
26 Jul 2017 20:05:42
I've said before and will do again, for the figures that it would take, I wouldn't sign Bale. Injured far too much, relies on pace a lot which will means he will peak and decline pretty quickly. He may transition into a striker when that happens, bit like Ronaldo, but he doesn't have as much to his game as Ronaldo.

If the price was low enough then I'd give it a go, but for stupid money, no thanks.

22.) 26 Jul 2017
26 Jul 2017 20:23:54
Real Madrid would most definitely sell if we met their valuations.

23.) 26 Jul 2017
26 Jul 2017 21:21:36
Real Madrid will sell to whom I don't know and bale would improve any side he plays for.

24.) 26 Jul 2017
26 Jul 2017 21:40:40
Agreed brendan. I said it on a previous post, you don't buy a Ferrari for it to be parked in the garage all the time.

He is too much of an injury risk. If we bought him and he were to be injured a lot as he has been down through the years (and will only get more frequent as he gets older) posters and fans on here would be questioning why we bought him in the first place. Ed would be getting it right in the neck.

25.) 26 Jul 2017
26 Jul 2017 22:23:48
No doubt in my mind he would be a great signing i think he would embrace the challenge.

26.) 26 Jul 2017
26 Jul 2017 23:10:04
Plus we all know he's proven in the premier league. Greizzman for instance is a risk because he hasn't done it in our league.

27.) 26 Jul 2017
26 Jul 2017 23:04:39
I've got concerns regarding his injury record but can you pass up on the opportunity to sign a player that is world class I don't think you can so if he is available like ed002?states and he is interested in a move then in my opinion youve got to get him.

Only way I'd steer clear is if Madrid would want De Gea included.

@rock the red
ED002 said there will be interest from both Manchester clubs if Bale were to be sold. I don't see any reason why Madrid won't sell to us if we agree to pay the fee.
But if I remember correctly, Ed001 said Bale doesn't want to play as a winger but only behind the striker. He even fell out with Ancelloti for this reason. Correct me if I am wrong pls.

30.) 27 Jul 2017
27 Jul 2017 11:59:04
I always believed that fate would see us with another Welsh winger to take over from Ryan, and was gutted when he went to Madrid. Would love him at the club, as for me, he is in that level of player below Ronaldo and Messi. My only worry, is that a player with such explosive pace and acceleration, does tend to pick up injuries, and without that asset, they're nowhere near the same player. He reminds me of Michael Owen a little in that regard.

It's a yes to Bale from me.
