Ed001 would i be right in thinking united will probably try bring in a rb, lb, cb and possibly 2 cm's this summer given that carrick is retiring and fellaini looks to be off? could be 6/ 7 leaving united but hopefully tuanzebe/ mensah get squad places. thanks ed.

I think we need to consider which of the youngsters could possibly step up.

I have high hopes for Tuanzebe so we could in theory not sign a CB and give him a chance. He has never let us down, he has everything to become a top player.

TFM in my opinion should be a midfielder, he could add energy, work rate, strength and defensive solidity to our midfield next season in games where we could do with more defensive cover in midfield. He could also be the long term replacement for Matic and could allow us to rotate more. So again in theory we could save ourselves signing two midfielders by using TFM there.

Or alternatively he could come in and be back up for Valencia and we might not have to sign a RB.

Dimitri Mitchell has had a storming few games in Scotland and looks more than ready for a bigger challenge than Scottish football can offer him. Is he ready to come back and be an understudy to Luke Shaw? Or will Jose want an older more established player to rotate with Shaw?

Andreas Pereira has on occasion looked very good in his two loan spells in Spain, he must be ready for a real shot at stepping up and fighting for a place at our club, I feel it has to be now or never for him.

So we have a youngsters who can cover all the positions Jose would ideally like, and I expect he will have to use one or two of them next season as I don't see the club signing 5 players in the summer. I think we might see three. It it was me I would go with a couple of full backs and a playmaker for midfield.

Good post, but if we were to loose Jones, Smailling and Rojo. ( or two of them), we will have to bring at least one CB.

On Fosu Mensah, personally I think should be played as RB, that's where he has been playing at highest level and performing well, and there is reason is played there by coaches/ managers and not in the midfielders where he played much in the academy.

If Shaw stays I don't see the need of a left back considering Young looks like staying for another season.

For me I think we probably need at least 3 players a CM and 2 midfielders (replacement of Carrick / to rotate with Matic and CAM)
