Well ed002 hope all is well.
Do you know what the club plans are for dean henderson next season.
He has had 2 great loan spells over the past 2 seasons. He looks like a a very good keeper and unless ddg leaned his path to our 1st team looks cut off.
I think he will be Englands no 1 by the time the euros come around.
Thanks have a great day.

{Ed002's Note - I really don’t know Ken. There might well be interest in DDG again this summer; actually I am pretty sure there will be interest. I don’t see MU opting for DH right away and second pick for the first team really needs to be an older player who can also help with the training of the younger GKs, because chances outside of injury are typically limited to the League Cup (or what ever it is called now).

Henderson does look a great keeper in the making but if ddg leaves its a big risk to throw him straight into the 1st team, it is tempting because the last thing I want to see is him leave looking for 1st team football, if ddg does leave maybe give romero next season as number 1,grant number 2 or 3 and vgive Henderson a prem loan so he has got prem experience.

If DDG leaves I would be tempted to make Romero first choice with Henderson as second choice/ fighting it out for first choice.

Like so many other positions in world football there's a dearth of genuine world class replacements out there. I'd be happy to go with Romero for a season with Grant as number 2 and Henderson as third choice but playing in the cup games and selected league games to see how he does. It saves money for other positions then and I suspect that pleases our glorious commander in chief as well. If we can improve the defence and midfield we'd concede less chances and wouldn't need the keeper to bail us out as often anyway.

The issue we will have when DDG leaves is whoever replaces him will have to live with constant comparisons. The pundits will say "De Gea would have saved that" etc.

We could spend 60-80m on a replacement such as Oblak or Donnarumma. But they will still be a step down on DDG. Ultimately we will be on a hiding to nothing. Whether we spend 80m or make Romero first choice the pundits will say the same things.

I'm with you there Shappy, Romero has proven to be a very good back up and while he isn't at De Gea's level, any mistake from any keeper signed would be viewed as something that De Gea would not have done. Henderson would ideally be back up for a year or 2 then take over the number 1 spot.

Save the cash for other areas of the squad which need investment.

Ed002 thanks.
Its a certainty that ddg will have other offers i would think.
Rm psg and juve are all in the market for a top keeper i would imagine. With 1 year on his contract the market value will not reflect his true value to the team and club. Another mess of a contractual situation by the looks of it. The club are in a vulnerable situation on this one.
Henderson is a very good keeper. Lacks experience but i would love to see him take the top spot and flourish.

Real already have Courtois.

{Ed001's Note - yes and he has been a disaster so far.}

What is your take on Courtois ed1? I personally think he is/ was massively overrated. He hasn't lived up to the promise he showed 6_7yrs ago. He seems to regress with every game he plays.

{Ed001's Note - I agree with you. He never improved if anything he regressed recently.}

DDG is in my opinion the best there is, but Romero is bloody good. With a world class defender the chances on goal will go down. Stam left, we carried on. Beckham left, we were ok. Ronaldo went and we won trophies. De Gea goes, we will carry on as we have in the past.

Apparently now we no longer see a need to spend 50 million on a centre back and will look at right back and midfield instead. Would anyone be shocked if true.
