Inter bid 54m for Lukaku.
Laughable bid.

I don't get it they have been told numours times how much we value him just like we were with wan bissaka

And eventually got the deal done.

My take on the situation is this,

We don't really want Lukaku, but we value him at a ridiculous amount.

The club seems to want to make back at least what they paid for him. Yet they are prepared to sell him as they don't think he is good enough. Ergo he must now be worth less than we paid for him. Yet they aren't prepared to accept less.

The only club's interested in Lukaku are those the next step down from the very best sides. Those teams often don't have the money to spend 75m on one player. No top team who could afford that sort of fee are interested in him.

So the club just needs to accept they overpaid for him a couple of years ago and must now accept a lower amount if they are to off load him and his high wages.

20 Jul 2019 15:33:51
Lukaku himself wants out. And the club would happily grant his wish. Inter and Conte want him, they should pay the valuation.

4.) 20 Jul 2019
20 Jul 2019 16:16:58
Unless UTD can start an auction for Lukaku then it is unlikely the will get anywhere near what they paid for him. How many teams are interested in Lukaku to start an auction?

Take what you can get and move on.

If we can get our money back, £70M+£15M in add-ons, if think would be fair.

The market has risen since he singed. Also⤵️
He has been our most prolific forward in his 2 years.
Excellent international record.
Positive influence.

In reality £100-120m with add-ons in today's market.

But we are looking to play in a new style and the time is good for all parties to leave mean -£15m/ -15% below market seems very fair.

If can't afford it that's not our problem. I'm sure Ole would like Mbappe to cover for Greenwood 😁 but we can't afford it.

Red Devils Advocate, no one wants him bar Inter Milan. He isn't worth what we paid for him. He is a talented but limited striker. He'll score goals if played a certain way, but lacks the ability to adapt. That limitation is what stops the top teams wanting him.

He for me is exactly the sort of player as Maguire. Talented and if played in a certain way he can be an asset. Yet there are serious flaws in their game that stops them being truly in the top class bracket.

Just how we are now realising we overpaid for Lukaku and as such if we are to move him on it will be at a loss. I feel the same thing is likely to happen with Maguire.

Fact is Lukaku is a 50-60m player at most. We paid a premium, we can't expect anyone else to pay that as well.

7.) 20 Jul 2019
20 Jul 2019 17:47:16
A player is worth what someone is willing to sell or pay for.

Let's see what happens before getting our knickers in a twist but either way Inter will pay more than £60M.

8.) 20 Jul 2019
20 Jul 2019 18:52:38
I agree with Shappy, plus if he spends a season warming the bench because his style doesn't fit the system, then his value will just plummet.

9.) 20 Jul 2019
20 Jul 2019 20:26:29
Disagree Shappy. Just because OGS doesn’t see Lukaku as essential for the style he wants to play doesn’t mean his value has dropped. Supply and demand based on style of play. Simple.

10.) 20 Jul 2019
20 Jul 2019 20:34:46
Shappy, why should the club take a loss on a player who they paid £75 million on and he still has 3 years on his contract. We’re in a era where Leicester want £80+ million for Harry Maguire.
It’s widely accepted that when United want a player his price goes up, we can’t then be seen to sell our players for less than ‘WE’ value him. We’re the ones in a strong position here, why sell yourself short?

11.) 20 Jul 2019
20 Jul 2019 20:36:15
Shappy

You keep saying FACT? Surely this is your opinion? Unless you work in the world of football finance?

12.) 20 Jul 2019
20 Jul 2019 20:54:54
Felix went to Atletico based on potential for €130m, Lukaku in the right environment has the potential to score 30+ goals a season. What message does it send if we sell players with that type of potential for less than market value? Especially when clubs are interested in pogba, who only fulfilled a fraction of his potential last season.

13.) 20 Jul 2019
20 Jul 2019 21:01:48
Shappy, who says he is only a 50-60 million player? The club don't think so. But it's a fact? I'm confused.

14.) 21 Jul 2019
20 Jul 2019 23:14:10
Simple name me a club that will pay more than 60m for him?

15.) 21 Jul 2019
21 Jul 2019 01:28:59
If you get offered 60 million bite there hand off.

16.) 21 Jul 2019
21 Jul 2019 03:59:48
Inter will pay more than 60m imo I think he'll go for 70m.

17.) 21 Jul 2019
21 Jul 2019 06:22:21
How do I know who will pay that? How is that simple? Makes it a fact now😂.

18.) 21 Jul 2019
21 Jul 2019 06:24:02
Lukaku is FACT a 50-60M player but we paid 75M? The fact there is we paid 75m for him.

19.) 21 Jul 2019
21 Jul 2019 09:13:28
Actually glad for once Utd are being firm with an asking price, for too long we have been crap selling players for low fees. 2 million for Berbatov anyone 🤷‍♂️.

20.) 21 Jul 2019
21 Jul 2019 09:46:12
He’s not worth less he just doesn’t fit how Ole wants to play.

21.) 21 Jul 2019
21 Jul 2019 10:28:44
I don't think we're in as strong a position as some say. He will not play much for us this season, if at all. Totally unsuited to our style of play. Clubs will know this, They will know we don't want to be stuck with a player who won't be playing, especially on his wages.

22.) 21 Jul 2019
21 Jul 2019 11:34:42
Well let's see what he sells for. Inter made an opening offer of €60m which is around £55m after a month of negotiations. So they must feel that that is pretty close to what he is worth.

23.) 21 Jul 2019
21 Jul 2019 11:47:02
26 years old 146 epl goals, 48 internation goals 22 in his last 26 for Belgium.
Every bit a 75mil striker, at least.

24.) 21 Jul 2019
21 Jul 2019 12:06:20
Agree jred. He just does not fit what OGS wants to do.

Inter would like him cheap but they won't get him.

25.) 21 Jul 2019
21 Jul 2019 12:37:47
Most of what everyone is saying is totally irrelevant, you could spend all summer pushing to make your money back then a cash strapped inter walk away. There are no other clubs interested so lukaku stays at United with a questionable attitude to not playing, you don't get to replace the player and the problems of last season rear their heads again. i'm sure the club will get what they can for him but inter are not cash rich and any deal will be spread over 3 seasons.

26.) 21 Jul 2019
21 Jul 2019 14:38:40
Whoever at UTD have made the decision to price out Lukaku and Pogba from moving to Inter and Madrid seriously need to have their heads seen to.

There are no other takers for these two players. So UTD will go into the new season with two of your top earners either being on holiday or disrupting your dressing room when you should be clearing out bad blood in order to move on? Surely?

I know many of you will be jumping on the bandwagon and tell me to go concentrate on the my own team.

If UTD decide to stick to their stance of holding out for the right money for 2 players who are not in UTD's plans going forward then your hole will just become deeper.

Question for all the UTD fans commenting on here.

Are Pogba and Lukaku part of your plans moving forward and does anyone on here think Pogba will move to Madrid for a world record transfer fee as well as Inter meeting UTD's demands transfer fee wise?

Just because Conte wants Lukaku does not mean it is going to happen at £90m or whatever it is UTD value him at. If he was the golden boot winner last season then maybe. How many goals did Lukaku score last season?

{Ed004's Note - By all accounts we have been offered 54 million for Lukaku. Not sure how that can be deemed a reasonable offer when they demanded 50 million for Perisic and in a market were Joao Felix went for 120 million euros and Maguire is priced at 80 million.

On Pogba the only reported bid was for 80 million euros. In what world should utd bend over for opposition clubs and then spend a premium on their players? Madrid wanted us to pay 80 million euros for Morata 2 seasons ago. So Morata and Pogba are worth the same? Also bare in mind that Pogba is amongst the top 3 most marketable players in world football and is the heartbeat of our midfield.

I dont mind these players leaving but theyre under contract and both have a good few years left on them. I expect Lukaku to leave but fully expect Pogba to stay at least one more season}

27.) 21 Jul 2019
21 Jul 2019 15:47:00
Very well said Ed004. I am all for players leaving and keeping them. against their wishes but we need to treat clubs the same way we get treated when we go out to buy a player.

28.) 21 Jul 2019
21 Jul 2019 15:49:36
Perisic is still at Inter so makes no difference as nobody willing to pay what Inter have asked for him otherwise he would have left them already. I am sure they would still be willing to let him go but no takers at the price they want so makes your comment about Perisic void.

Neither Lukaku or Pogba have been ripping out trees at UTD.

If Lukaku had gotten the golden boot last season and Pogba won player of the year then show me the money.

What Joao Felix went for has got absolutely nothing to do with this as you or I have no idea what the finer details were such as clauses in his contract when wanting to purchase him.

Lukaku is not worth nowhere near what UTD paid for him. You think City will pay what UTD are requesting for Lukaka even if they were interested in signing him, any other side as a matter of fact when there is very little interest.

This isnot like signing Pepe who will go for one hell of a fee once somebody signs him as just about every top club has an interest in Pepe.

{Ed004's Note - Pogba was our top goal scorer, top assister, covered most ground, got most motm awards for utd last season, most passes, most dribbles etc so to say hes not ripped up trees a year after winning the world cup is a bit of an odd statement. Lukaku at age 25 is his national sides top goal scorer and I think already in top 10 premiership goal scorers (if not he would be within a season or two). My point on Perisic was that Inter werent willing to negotiate a deal with Utd so why should Utd act any differently in negotiations? It was noted that perisic also wanted the move so identical situations. If both stay they will both have big impacts in our side next season. If utd just did as we were told by opposition fans we would have paid 75 million for Wan Bissaka and sold Lukaku for 50 million. Lukaku will most likely go for around 70 and we got Wan Bissaka for 45 million.

Im still confused as to your argument about City? Seems a pretty pointless line. Also you contradict yourself there with Felix point. We arent allowed to charge money for Pogba and Lukaku cause they had off seasons (Pogba didnt) but Felix after 6 months going for 120 mill is ok because we dont know his clauses - except there were no clauses and Atletico just activated his buyout clause}

Oh snap Ed004

🎤⤵️

That's that then.

30.) 21 Jul 2019
21 Jul 2019 17:07:47
Right so Palace had to give into UTD for wanting more for Bissaka than what they got for him?

Do you realise that Madrid and Inter are not Crystal Palace?

Pot kettle black.

31.) 22 Jul 2019
22 Jul 2019 06:02:33
maxlfc, your arguments seem silly.
Lukaku scored 27 goals in his first season.
Only the last year cannot be used as a barometer to judge a player's price.
He just turned 26 and is entering his peak years.
In the right system, he will easily score 30 plus goals.
Therefore the club has every right on the valuation they put on Rom considering the current inflated market.

If we budge on our valuation, it will set a bad predicament for future sales.

32.) 22 Jul 2019
22 Jul 2019 09:18:27
It makes sense to be flexible on our valuation, and be willing to bend a little for a reasonable offer. £54m on a player valued at £75m does not qualify.

If they came in offering, let's say £68m, I'm sure the club would be perfectly willing to talk, and I'm sure a deal could be done from that point without either side having to move too far.

However, £54m isn't even close, and we don't NEED to sell him right now.

33.) 22 Jul 2019
22 Jul 2019 18:29:25
You lot make me laugh.

We do not want to sell Lukaku when he does not even fit into your playing style under Ole.

Pogba is earning massive wages too so if UTD are planning on getting rid which I am sure they are otherwise Madrid would not be hounding UTD then it will either be stick or twist.

If any of you think Lukaka is worth more than what UTD paid for him, include his wages Inter would need to pay then really, you will be stuck with a player which Ole will have on the subs bench.

UTD as ED002 has explained are throwing money around and not actually fixing the problem.

If Lukaku and Pogba stay then you will have two players on hand holding all the cards.

Beggars belief.

{Ed004's Note - I never got the chance to reply at the weekend but your arguments make no sense. Youve definitely come on here to get a rise from people which is a shame because we had examples of posters from other clubs coming on and enhancing debates and improving the site for it to be quickly reversed}

34.) 22 Jul 2019
22 Jul 2019 19:44:48
And just remember, just because Conte wants Lukaku does not mean Inter will sign him at an inflated fee. Conte does not have control of transfers at Inter and they can go sing another one of their targest for a lesser fee and lesser wages.

The worl does not revilve around UTD, espicially how they have been more than mediocre in the the transfer windows of late and still continue to be lol.
