With what we have minus Pogba, Rojo, Jones, plus:
Saul, Sancho, Grealish
(Or similar level)

Next summer
Haaland, Koulibaly
(Or similar level)

Raul Jimenez, Ighalo etc signings will support and add depth. Good direction of travel.

With excellent prospects in Greenwood, Garner, Laird, Mengi, Hannibal with Levitt, Williams too. It is fair to say we need better planning for a path to the first team but there’s some quality depth there to challenge the first team.

Utd are well placed with or without Ole. Better prepared than for a long time. If they can solve the football management side out even better.

Avoid Koulibaly. He is nearly 30 now amd would cost near £100 million. If you spend money like that one player, he needs to be a lot younger than he is for it to be worthwhile.

One of the major aspects that might play a part in dragging the club out of the doldrums is our academy.

Potentially we could name a side like this: Henderson, Laird, Mengi, Bernard, Williams, Garner, Levitt, Mejbri, Ramazani, Greenwood and Hoogewerf

Of which only Greenwood and Williams could say they are already established in the first. While we also have academy players like Tuanzebe, McTominay and Rashford in the first team squad.

Now obviously not all of those lads will make it at the club, but there are quite a few with a really good chance of making it as at least squad players some as first choice players. Henderson, Williams, Tuanzebe, Garner, Mejbri, McTominay, Rashford and Greenwood could all be first choice players within the next 2-3 years. While players like Laird, Mengi and Levitt also have a good chance of stepping up into squad roles.

That gives the club a great platform to work from. Add to that players such as DDG, AWB, Maguire, Shaw, Fred, Bruno and Martial who could well be key first team players for the next few years at least. Then the core of a very good squad is there.

2 or 3 top class additions this summer and we have the makings of a league winning side. But more due to the quality coming out of our academy more than anything.

Which 2 or 3 signings would they be Shappy, that could see us win the league next year?

Sancho and Saul would be game changers for me.
Both so good with possession and on counter.

You can see what type of play we want to go forward with from the type of targets.

Mad hatter totally agree re Koulibaly. He is a very good player but he is nowhere near the quality of Van Djik or Laporte. Must be younger and better options. I would be tempted to let Bailly have a full season.

Mumbles I didn't necessarily mean win the title next year. My point was more that we would have so many quality young players that we wouldn't necessarily need to sign too many more top players to have a squad capable of winning the league, we would just need some of our players to reach their potential.

In three years time a front three of Sancho, Greenwood and Rashford could arguably be the best in the league if not Europe. While Henderson looks like the best English keeper, and we still have DDG. AWB has the potential to be one of the best full backs in the world, and is probably already the best 1v1 defender. While we have players like Bruno, Fred, Maguire who'll be 28-30 and in their primes, players like Shaw, Tuanzebe, Lindelof, Bailly, McTominay, James etc who'll be in their mid-twenties, and young players who might be stepping up to being first team regulars such as Mengi, Laird, Williams, Garner, Mejbri and possibly Bellingham.

So if we sign Sancho, a top young DM, and a top young CB this summer then we will have the core of a great squad that shouldn't need too many other players brought in to complete it. Maybe just a squad player here and there or someone if one of the younger players doesn't work out how we hope.

Yes I would agree with all that Shappy. I'm very excited for the future of our great club I must say I think we are in great shape. The foundations are all there and we just need to sprinkle it here and there but we definitely have a strong spine coming to the side. It's been a slow process but I do finally see things falling into place. I just can't wait for things to be back to normal to finally go to the game again.
