Hi Ed I heard Lampards comments pouring cold water on the Angel Gomes rumours. It amazes me that United are actively seeking a left sided versatile midfielder when they had Gomes to try out. Now it's confirmed he is leaving where are his possible destinations?

{Ed002's Note - Angel Gomes (AM/CM) is a free agent – Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund and RBL have all made enquiries since January and at least two of these three clubs have spoken with the player directly, but RBL opted to buy Olmo at the end of January. A third party has recently become involved and have approached two London sides and Bayern Munich, Chelsea is one and probably Spurs. The player says he would be open to a move to London if there was a guarantee of playing time and that appears to have resulted in the German and Spanish sides to step back. Chelsea and Spurs both have preferred targets for his position but Gomes being a free agent may make him attractive to Spurs who are struggling financially. Manchester United have pushed to have him agree a new contract but they cannot offer game time nor a roadmap.}

Thanks ED.

Playing devils advocate here, but if he was a better player and applied himself more perhaps he’d get some game time?

{Ed002's Note - No it is the amateurs who do not provide any roadmaps for players.}

Just signed bruno, linked with grealish, still have lingard, mata and pereira on the books.

Ching singed a new deal and hasn't seen any meaningful gametime.

I think gomes has made the correct move for his career, needs to get some first team football with adults under his belt.

Interested in the roadmap idea Ed. How does it work? How can you guarantee fame time or plot a route to the first team if the player is not yet showing The ability to step up, train or drop attitude for example? I know the old adage of if you’re old enough you’re good enough etc is a little unprofessional, but there are very few other clubs with a heritage of promoting youth regularly into the first team?

{Ed002's Note - It is fine Eric. If you are unable to understand it and expect guarantees of "fame" you are just being cretinous about the subject. You should stay well clear of subjects that you simply don't understand.}

I think it's pretty obvious he meant "Game" time.

Eric I would assume it's pretty similar to the one where Utd have promoted an academy graduate into their match day squad for over 4000 consecutive games stretching back to before the Second World War. Sometimes the proof is in the pudding. I think we can all understand those stats despite the lack of a road map.

That’s the point Ed. Asked a question as don’t understand it as cannot relate to this in my corporate life. If kids are expecting their career to be mapped out for them then that’s incredibly precious and naive - it just doesn’t happen. Do your current role well, we give structure and support, training and guidance but they must perform and this leads to the next thing. Same applies surely? I asked a genuine question as I cannot relate to it - are Utd that clueless they simply sign these Guys and offer no guidance, coaching or plan of what they might become? If that’s the case that’s truly frightening and appalling in equal measure.

Think it was a typo ed. think he meant game time, not fame time.

Was a genuine question as I genuinely didn’t understand. Seems I can’t ask and learn. I just don’t see the parallels in my corporate real life to the spoon feeding these kiddy
footballers require? I guess they’re poorly educated and know nothing else sadly.

If rumour is to be believed then Gomes wanted guaranteed 1st team football of which clubs in Germany and Spain have all stepped back and thought we cannot agree to that. Coupled with this is he hasn’t been good in enough in the games we’ve seen him. Why should United play a player when those ahead of him are better and committed to the club.

Roadmap or not Angel hasn’t done well for the U23s for 12 months and underwhelmed in the first team minutes he’s had.

Good luck to him but unlikely to be good enough. Hope he proves me wrong, all the best to him.

Instead of him trying to break into a top team, why doesn't he take a step back and go to a so called lower club where he can get a first team game, develop and prove himself.
If he is that good the top teams will soon come calling once he proves himself.
