C'mon now, are we now getting into conspiracy theory stuff to justify the mess.

I have to say I am amused by a lot of what I am reading. We have gone from what a lot of people here were claiming a great squad who had all these young guys coming through to making excuses for the new manager in a matter of 6 weeks.

I did not rate our squad as highly as some do but supported his appointment as some other have.

I also will not be joining the group that is now advocating he is trying his best first 11 and excuse for our piss poor performances. It is a cop out if you ask me for a guy, who is suppose to be so detail orientated and kept files on 100's of players around europe, now people are trying to say he did not know our players and learning about them. I did not realize we had hired a manager from north Korea who is seeing our guys for the first time:)

What do we make of Martinez at Everton then or Mourinho or Pellegrini who were applying their trade somewhere else, surely they are going through the same thing.

Has anyone seen anything in any performance that makes you believe we are just on the cusp of turning it on.

I was replying to Chris's suggestion about SAF going. In terms of your wider point, we have the happy clappers and we have the neg heads. Most of us are somewhere in between and want to debate where we are without getting shot down for voicing an opinion. I'm not sure how many games we truly dominated last year - we won the league without playing particularly well so perhaps SAF realised there was a lot of change needed. I'm not making excuses for DM, he certainly hasn't helped himself yet with some of his utterances but to suggest its all his fault as some have is a bit harsh

It is a shame that he saw fit to get rid of all the backroom staff. They would have helped him immensely and made the transition a little easier.
I would still try to get Rene M back in. We are seriously lacking in experience. And the guy has seen it all.

What if moyes and Rene had a different football philosophy.
For example Rene was a big believer in touching the ball a 1000 times a week in training, a lot of the training was technical ball work. Moyes is a lot more fitness orientated.

I think you make a really good point about last season. You can count on the fingers of one hand the games where we played well for 90 minutes. More often than not, it was a 20 / 30 minute burst and strong defending that saw us through.

The biggest problem so far this season is the defence looks shot to pieces. It's easy to talk about midfield and attack - and both need improvement - but all good teams are built from a solid foundation and if the defence isn't functioning, you often see issues further up the pitch as a result.

We all knew Evra was an issue before Moyes arrived (except perhaps Fergie. ) DM's also been missing our best defender from last season most of this season in Rafael. Ferdinand played well the first 2/3 of last season but it looks like his legs have gone. And we've got the Carrick of 11/12 instead of the Carrick of 12/13. Some of those things DM has no control over, although he did have a hand in mucking up bringing in reinforcements over the summer that would have made a difference.

I hope we keep our heads over the next 4 to 6 weeks, because I'm confident we'll come through the worst of this and recover to top 4 by the end of the season, allowing time for the rebuilding the team needs to take place before next season.

Its weird how we've become so bad defensively this season when last year we were quite solid and just nicked a number of results.

I think Jonny Evans needs to come back into the team and we need three in midfield to tighten up.

I think in the next 4-6 weeks. we will be around 8th.

Arsenal Liverpool Chelsea City Everton and Spurs are all playing far better.

Yes we may start scraping some wins but whose to say they don't continue winning? They are bar Chelsea and in some games City playing well enough.

We are 5 point of 4th that's to much ground to concede. Yes we have played some hard games but points on the board is what matters.
