Why do people keep calling Fellaini a "red card waiting to happen". How many red cards has he accumulated over the years? I couldn't find the data for this. Anyone?

{Ed001's Note - I think it is more the shock when he doesn't get one, as I have yet to see a match where he has not thrown his elbow out on multiple occasions, so one day a ref will stop pretending not to see what a vile thug he is and send him off. He would only have himself to blame as he is nothing but a slow cumbersome thug.}

Ed,

Has he played for Everton and United by any chance? ;)

{Ed001's Note - it is nothing to do with that and you know it. I would not say Rooney does that, and I dislike him on a personal level, as well as him having played for both clubs. Fellaini is a horrible player who throws out his elbows constantly. It is a real problem because it is very dangerous and there is absolutely no need for it. He is not doing it to protect himself, he is doing it to hurt the opponent. It should be clamped down on before he seriously hurts someone and, in this era of concussion worries, it would not be out of the bounds of possibility for him to be sued for any serious injury he did cause. Any case would also be against the club who employs him, which is why I do not understand why his coaches don't stop him.}

All you need to do is look up what Chris Morgan did to Ian Hume and you'll realise how dangerous elbows are, as a centre half I can tell you its really not needed to win a header, its done purely out of not being a nice character. It's an unnatural movement and there should be no excusing it in this day and age with the technology we have to go back and look over it.

{Ed001's Note - good point.}

whatever your opinion ed stats say he has 2 red cards in 199 appearances in EPL not bad for a guy who is called elbows by many opposition fans.

{Ed001's Note - and that is exactly what is wrong with the game, that a dangerous thug like that has not picked up red cards for his wanton use of elbows, while a nothing challenge can result in a red card. All you are doing is pointing out how crap refs are and how lacking in any understanding of what is dangerous and what isn't, but then your name says it all.}

Ed001,

I do know it, hence the wink, just a bit of banter, I agree with you re: Fellaini, horrible player.

{Ed001's Note - I know that, I just had to point that out as most wouldn't know it. I was going to reply in kind but it is just not worth the hassle when people think I am being serious!}

I'm not a stoke fan, my dad is, so we always travel down to Stoke when United play their. Family reunion and commiserate/ celebrate 2 good reasons for a P up. Anyway back to the point Fellaini should have been jailed never mind carded for his 2 blatant attacks on Shawcross the season before he joined us.

And then there are people who call Roy Keane a legend of the game.

Well agree that he uses his elbows but I think that's his physique and flailing arms that give out that impression. His arms are his leverage to out jump the opponent. And with the league being so physical, I think he uses his body well.

The refs must really be blind not to show him at least 3 red cards a game for all his elbow using on opponents.

{Ed001's Note - or you must be on a wind up to make such a stupid comment as they could not show 3 could they? Not sure what Keane has to do with anything either.}

Come off the stage, we've all seen Fellaini using his elbows to hurt and intimidate opponents, and anyone who says otherwise is either lying or stupid. The annoying thing is that he is physically strong but still plays dirty and dangerously, and not as a rash moment of madness, but as a calculated strategy every time he plays.

Cheers. So Fellaini is unanimously hated. Jesus.

Anyways thought that this would take the minds off LVG out and who to take over next debate. :)

{Ed001's Note - I wonder if he was a good player so many would notice the elbows? Or if they would turn a blind eye?}

Peter crouch would do similar and there was actually some sort of communication between referees (on the continent) at some point when he was regularly picked for england and crouch would then be constantly penalised when he was winning the ball mostly fairly up front.

{Ed001's Note - he does annoy me Crouch, he is tall enough to win every header without fouling the defender but not bright enough to realise it.}

Well, a good player or not, he has the best chest control of a football that I have seen. And he did traumatize quite a few midfields when he played for Everton. Not many have outclassed yaya toure and fellaini did.

{Ed001's Note - hmmm many have outclassed Yaya you mean surely? He only plays well when he can be bothered.}

If anything I think they'd be more scrutinised ED.
