Is anyone else slightly sceptical about zlatan coming to old trafford this summer.

Zlatan might well be keen to work with jose again and for less money than he'd receive in china so that he can continue to keep up his impressive record at a high level.

But the latest reports that we are the only pl club he would consider is worrying for me. It seems as though we are the only club naive enough to pay such vast amounts of wages for a 34 year old who is coming to the end of a glittering career.

After being shafted by falcao and schweinsteiger i honestly would prefer we said thanks but no thanks to zlatan.

He will go for mega cash to china or united imo nobody else will pay what he wants for various reasons.

Jose has a history of going for an experianced striker, he took drogba back to chelsea .
And over the last couple of years ed has shown he likes a big name falcao, bastian

So there is every chance we may make a move but i would rather we aren't that type of club.

while i get your concerns falcao was coming off a very bad injury while schweinsteiger just had a very indifferent season before coming, zlatan on the other hand comes off after one of his best seasons at PSG, and unlike either falcao or schweinsteiger he hasn't had big injury problems recently.

I've been hoping that the club will sign Zlatan for some time now and have no doubts that he would be a fantastic signing both commercially and on the pitch.

Assuming that the plan is to keep Martial on the wing and Rooney in midfield we are in desperate need of another striker. Signing somebody like Kane or Lukaku would be good for the club but would potentially prevent Rashford from developing into the player he is capable of becoming.

Signing Zlatan on a one year deal (with the option of a second) would give the young players at the club somebody to learn from whilst also keeping them motivated with the knowledge that he is not a long term addition to the squad.

From a financial point of view I have no doubt that his wages will be expensive but at the same time feel the need to point out that he would be signing as a free agent. When you consider that RVP cost us £25m up front and a further £36m in wages for what was effectively only one good season - I can see no reason not to drop the reported £12m a season in wages that Zlatan wants.

If he fails (which I don't see happening) we will have lost £12m, sure - but considering Falcao cost us about £20m, Bastian around £22m and ADM about £27m for one poor season a piece; I see Zlatan as being incredibly low risk and one that the club would be foolish not to take.

The alternative would seem to be dropping £60m + wages on a Kane/ Lukaku/ Cavani/ Higuain/ Aubamayang type player.

CSM you're right his injury record is very good compared to the other two and he is coming off a great season but at 34, how many of those seasons does he have left especially when you factor in the step up from ligue 1 to the premiership.

It just seems as though at a time when clubs like arsenal, spurs and city are trying to get the average age of their squad down, we are trying our best to inflate it.

Don't think we will be giving him a more than 2 year contract, don't need multiple seasons, win us the league next season and he can go off to USA, rvp did it, and zlatan definitely has the ability to.

to all those who mention his age- How old was Giggs when he finally stopped?

How old was the ginger prince.

Just two of the top of my head. There may be several gems more.

His age is what makes him perfect. He won't be able to play every game, and that will give Rashford and Martial chances in that position. He is still a quality player, has a surprising amount of pace for his age, and is the type of player who relies more on intelligent positioning that pace anyway.

I wouldn't be suprised to see him playing at the top level for another 2, maybe 3 years yet, albeit playing fewer games per season.

He played 50 games last season .
If fit he plays, that has always been the case .
Why do you think that will change?

He'll be on hell of a player for us. One or two seasons. And by which time both martial and rashford will be two years older and wiser. It makes total sense to get him.
