It makes me a little frustrated that so many fans seem to have their minds made up about Depay after one season.

He's a young player coming off his first season in the EPL, moving from the much less rigorous Dutch league, and was playing for a manager that suffocated attacking creativity.

Yes he can carry himself more professionally and he should probably accept this criticism. But as far as I can tell, his "lifestyle" has been blown out of proportion by people who want to see him fail. I don't think Depay's personal characteristics are exceptional by most footballer's standards, who typically drive nice cars, have extravagant houses and tattoos, etc in this day and age.

He has shown glimpses of quality and we should be prepared to give him at least a season or two more to prove himself. Especially considering he is one of the few players in our team that fits the mold of an attacker we have been desperately missing.

What if we had chucked De Gea after his shaky first season? Gotten rid of Smalling who's now easily our best centre back? (Not saying much I'll admit) Depay is never going to be Ronaldo. There is never going to be another Ronaldo. But he very well could turn out to be a good player with a little time and faith.

Definitley worth another season in my opinion under a far superior manager.

Agree with both of you and if it didn't doesn't work we will all know Mourinho doesn't like keeping players for the sake of it.

Agree on Depay give him a chance. This Bailly seems a raw talent hope he works out, seems pricey for someone with so little experience, still fingers crossed.

I agree that people are far to quick to judge, but I kind of find myself agreeing with them.

He has had to step up into a much tougher league, and do so under a manager who stiffled his natural game. So from that perspective he should be given another chance.

But his attitude has stunk, and without the right attitude you won't make it at this club. So unless he has a personality transplant over the summer then the writing may already be on the wall.

Also our new manager hardly has a great reputation for nurturing players who think themselves above everyone else. If your not prepared to work hard and sacrifice yourself for the team the Mourinho will send you packing.

Personally I'd like him to stay one more season to see if Jose can perform a miracle and turn him around. I just don't hold out much hope of him being able too.

If he leaves this summer I won't shed any tears, but we would need to bring in a replacement.

How do you know what is personality is Shappy? He's hardly been in the press behaving badly.

All that he has done wrong is misplaced a pass against Chelsea and was then dropped ever since and forced to play a reserve game the following day.

He owns a Rolls Royce - definitley shows his personality issue. If I was on thousands a week I would own one too.

Tattooed, flash, Billy Big Boots. Got a big move but wasn't ready. Look at Rashford, celebrated winning the cup by going to Morecambe with his Mum. Delay is talented but needs some serious managing. I hope he makes it but am not convinced he will.

I think he went to Morecambe with his girlfriend, but i get your point.

If you were a millionaire at 20 would you not be flash? I don't see what tattoos have to do with it.

No, Fresh, in all honesty. That's the difference between how the youth are managed in our own academy, and those we buy at big prices from abroad. Not always - Martial seems a level-headed, quiet young man. Our kids are hopefully being made aware just how fortunate they are, and how much the average fan has to pay to go and watch a game these days, hence a wish to not be seen to be throwing money around like confetti. It was why Fergie put so much effort into scouting younger players - their upbringing, family unit etc

Just because you have a lot of money, and act flash, doesn't make you a bad person, but it does give you an insight into someone's personality, and whether or not they've got the drive and dedication to move up a level. Not always, granted - Ronaldo was no shrinking violet.

It's just my opinion, but in a time of economic hardship for a lot of average fans, I think it shows a lack of common sense and judgement, to be splashing the cash, especially when his performances haven't backed it up.
