Sounds like a conspiracy theory you have just conjured up this morning Mick.

Seems plausible to me Mick, I'm sure this stuff goes on, and I'm sure some of the eds on here would have a better idea of the games that go on behind the scenes.

I posted here on Monday how shocked I was to see the chief football writers of almost all if not all newspapers absolutely tear into Rooney on Monday - I have never seen that before, whether your theory is valid I don't know.

What I would say is that last night again he was very poor, no manager can be blind to that now, he has regressed from last season and with football being so cut throat JM will see that as the guy from the Indy wrote on Monday his own job will be under threat if he sticks with Rooney.

I don't know MAZE it might it it, but I certainly have not made it this morning.

Fact is Rooney has been involved in some major battles in his careers.

Battle against Fergie in his last season, with the media, with weight issues, imo now with Mourinho.

And most importantly a full out war against the art of the first touch.

We have seen a slightly different side to mourinho, a more mature side if you will. It's a case of slowly slowly with rooney, give him the rope, plant the seeds within the media and when he is finally showed up for what he is and has been for the past 3 seasons, a poor player, drop him. Mourinho will have people such as zlatan and pogba on side to take control of the dressing room and we will finally see the end of rooneys control and dominance.

It's possible he may start again at the weekend but something tells me he will be on the bench.
