Will Mikki get to play in his most effective position, centrally? His best games in pre season were there for us, and his player of the season efforts for Dortmund were predominantly there. Pre matic I posted about playing him there, but it appears the Matic signing all but means he will get limited opportunity there. Its a shame because scoring goals was our issue last year and I don't see much to suggest were correcting that. Speedy wide forwards around Mikki (10) and Lukaku would surely create more openings, but at the cost of Pogba/ Herrera/ Matic. I doubt it.

If we bring a winger in before the window closes I can't see why Mhki won't be used behind Lukaku most of this season.

Was thinking about this too. Possibly a diamond midfield 4 with Matic at base, Pogba and Herrera and Micki at point behind a front two? Think this will show up our limited full backs though.

Seems far too narrow though versus all those teams who will sit in. You need productive width against them and our full backs don't offer that really.

I think it may be a balance of two options. In a 4-2-3-1, Miki would be the best option as the #10, behind Lukaku. Then only two of Pogba, Herrera and Matic in the middle.

Otherwise, a 4-3-3 with those three center mids, and two wingers, from Rashford, Martial, Lingard, and Mata. The squad is pretty deep, once we realize all the options we have.

We have so many different options we can play a different way against different opposition. What impressed me last night was the different types of players on the bench who could all come on and do different jobs. Having such a versatile squad player like Blind there means that the rest of the subs can be attacking or across the midfield.
