I know this isn't directly linked to United but talk that City are bidding for Johnny Evans for £22m. surely not. ok player but surely their sights are set higher than that.

Tbh he's prem proven. Won 3 titles

And is much better than stones otemendi mangala in my opinion.

But they have spent nearly 250 million in nearly 3 years on defenders.

Bolger,

Evans is not better than Stones at all and definitely not better than Otamendi. He struggled a huge amount in a back 3 for us when he was expected to bring the ball out as he cannot do that, so how City think he is a good signing for them I have no idea.

He's being bought to cover Kompany, he's prem proven and will settle very quickly, he's also a very good pro apparently so won't rock the boat if he's not playing every week. I think it's a pretty good bit of business. The lad also gets to double his cash and at nearly 30 this is last big contract. It's a squad game and he's being bought to be a squad player because their best defender is injury prone, I can see why the deal fits.

Gds. In my opinion He may not be better with the ball at his feet.

But other than that he is miles above them in every other aspect. Your telling me Stones is a better defender than Evans?

Other than he can play out from the back.

His reading for the game is miles better. His heading ability is miles better. And he is miles better at tackling.

He also has little if non mistakes in him.

He has learnt his trade from arguably the best Cb paring of the last 10 years in Rio and Vidic.

If he wasn't sold by us he would be miles in front of jones. Smalling. Rojo and blind and lindeloff. He would be Cb with Bailly.

He along with Hernandez are the 2 players we shouldn't have sold.

Just because he is now playing for West Brom.

Home Grown Quota - if he was Italian they wouldn't be looking twice.

Smacks a bit of a desperate signing to me I think he is currently right at his level.

Good back up if he signs. City have a bumper signing still to come I'd wager and can't blow all their budget on a defender so Prem proven, home grown Evans fits the bill. He's still a good player albeit not a superstar.

Good solid CB not a fancy name but would do well in that city team imo.

He won't play much, be another Delph/ Sinclair type unfortunately Could be a first team regular and look very good where he is or maybe even a little better, but he will be playing games that don't matter too much or in exceptional circumstances.

Up to him what he wants to do but he isn't going to be moving to City for the love of the club or because he expects to be a first team player. Good luck to him if he goes (he is going to need it if he expects football), but then he was happy-ish being second string at Utd for a long time so maybe playing week-in-week-out isn't too critical to him.

He is a huge United fan and his wife still works for the club, I work with a few city fans and they really don't want him and i don't think he would play many games for them, he is at his level and would only be going for the money in my opinion.

As Beast said, all about the home grown quote for their CL squad, maybe we could get £50m for Smalling if they fancy him.

He can sign for City for me. Never really rated him hugely to be honest, but he is a good lad and a pro by all accounts. Would I rather play for city in a few games a season or be captain at West Brom and playing every week? Tough one, but I'm sure he isn't short of money so that probably wouldn't be the decider.
