This is not a knee-jerk reaction. But, for all Mourinho's good side, this is what I hate the most about him.

Imagine playing the worst defence in top teams, a team that conceded 12 goals in its last 7 games and you set up so negatively, isolate your striker, use Ashley Young as a RW while you had Mata and Rashford on the bench. And when you substituted, you took off Martial instead of Young.

How negative can you get.

They were running rings around us, players like Gomez, Henderson and Moreno lookin like worldclass players. We were second to every ball, afraid to commit and gave them incentive.

I don't even want to start on the marking type the coach ordered but time after time, they were cutting through us like knife through butter. I can't count the number of times a supposedly average Liverpool player took the ball through the center, dribble 3 or 4 of our players and drive into our box.

We have De Gea to thank though on the other side of the coin, his distribution today was as poor as I've seen it in a while.

And yes, I agree we lack flair players but the few we have (. Mikhitaryan, Martial) are shackled and made to play in a risk-free and boring way.

I don't want to tap about the disaster waiting to happen aka Smalling, he just isn't United standard even for the bench. Am I the only one who noticed the whenever he wants to pass there is a certain way he turns his body towards the direction then send his right arm opposite to where he intends to pass? Every time he wants to pass I know where it is going.

The players as a whole were second to every 50-50 and not fired up for the occasion like the scousers. I don't want to blame Lukaku as Liverpool players missed many chances and also De Gea was outstanding but I think he should have flashed his shot on the left keeper's right) instead of going across the face of the post and the game Would have ended differently because Kopp would have definitely changed the setup and it would have opened up for us.

I do agree that we are not there yet in terms of personnel and also, how we want to perform in the big games and maybe, at the end of season, this game will look like a point won rather than two dropped.

Agreed, i'm very disappointed in the tactics today. Its pretty embarrassing.

If we had a good game end to end and drew then yeah fair play, but to play like we did today and draw that way feels like a loss and for me personally I feel a lot of resentment towards Jose. With all the money we spend and we are still holding onto results for draws just isn't good enough.
What happens if we get the likes of Bale or Griezeman and we expect to play this way, surely they would have a word.

{Ed025's Note - i agree mate..

They created 3 good chances and one was off a rebound. We have two fit midfielders. The players were awful today, first 20 minutes we got behind Moreno 3 times and the ball into the box was awful. Liverpool might ship goals but they also have the potential to put 5 past you. I understand people want us to go and attack etc, but at anfield that would play into their hands. I'd rather a point than going and attacking and losing by 3.
Caolán.

I think the scouse are a better team than people are given them credit for played city of the park until mane got a red .
All managers have good and bad points and performances like this can be seen as a negative .
On the other hand it's performances like this that have served Jose so well during a very successful career.

Jred, weren't Liverpool losing 1.0 when Mane got sent off? They were holding their own for sure, but they were not playing City off the park.

It was a negative performance and if it wasn't for a wasteful Liverpool then we wouldn't have even succeeded in this game plan.

But I do agree that our attack were toothless and that gave us little chance of ever scoring, surprised Klopp didn't take advantage of that.

No idea where you got that idea from Jred, played city off the park? City were winning by the time Mane got sent off.

You should play for Jose you would be a good defender for him.

Tactics and result was as predictable as Norman wisdom heading towards a banana skin at the side of a swimming pool . Didn't like our approach at all but come the end of the season JM will think there's more than one way to skin a cat . I think Liverpool are a bit better than people think and without our best defender and best midfielder it's not a disastrous result it's just the way we got it I can't say I'm a fan of . Not really sure why smalling was highlighted as poor we were under pressure most of the game and didn't concede it was lack of bodies at the other end but that's not smallings doing .

They where by far the better team syd up until the red card and had far more chances against city in the first half than they did against us .
If it wasn't for a wasteful Liverpool team you would of been a couple up ;)

City are a fantastic team the scouse up until the red where good against city and to be fair where good against us today .
I fancied us for a win today but the scouse are a better team some are given them credit for.

Even conceding a goal we were the best team during the city game, the sending off DID change the game, denying that would suggest to me you aren't receiving enough benefits from the 'gumment' but as I've stated already based on form united should have took it to Liverpool but Jose was too hesitant, towards the end he brought on an extra defender. SAF would have gone all out, hence my respect for him and lack of it for billion pound Jose. The fans were good today (both sides) but united were boring, you can say thy succeeded in their aim but it doesn't bode well if you don't aim to attack an out of form Liverpool team. Lukaku wasn't effective, rashford should have started martial did diddly squat I think lingaard is useless but atleast that lad puts his all in. You any not agree but I'm not here to stir just provoke debate.

Fzz.
What's to defend we have been fantastic this season .
Liverpool where far better than city up until the red but aguero done what lukaku never and took the one decent chance .
The scouse played well today as well so far play to them.

According to Jose he was waiting for Klopp to drop to a two man midfield and then push for a counter attacking goal. But Klopp never pushed for that winner neither. But Klopp has done that all season. When he's needed goals he still sticks with a 3-man midfield. Takes attackers off and replaces them, never adds attackers to what's already on the field. That would frustrate me as a Liverpool fan.

Jose played for the draw, but we were lucky to escape with a draw. This bus today was opened up many times and if they had scored it could have been a disaster as we had no way to change the game.

I agree with jred on this one to a large degree. I also fancied us to win today but when i saw the team it was obviius that there was no real attacking intent.
Liveroool are low on confidence but do have some very good players and have the best record against the top sides.
The manner of our approach was disappointing but not surprising. Its what jose has done for years.
Darmian is ponderous and negative in every respect but that's why he was picked today.
I think darmian had a negative effect on martial too as he offers no support and creates no space or time for anybody ahead of him.
Still in all a point at anfield is never the worst thing but the manner of our approach is hard to take on the back of our great start.

Liverpool's attack are good, their midfield are good, their defence are dire. Goalkeeper is dire. The game went pretty much as I expected. We park the bus and let them have the possession, then counter and try and punish. Problem is our attack was p1ss poor and our bus was very lucky, Jones was comical at times. Darmian tragically poor.

So I didn't underestimate Liverpool, I am just disappointed we didn't have a good go. Set pieces were awful too, just a very poor performance and very lucky not to concede.

Jones made 1 mistake the whole game.

One potentially catastrophic error, another bad one. and a couple more little errors. Jones has been mostly good this season, but today was far from his best game. But he's human and I have a feeling he may have been injured.
