Ronaldo won the champions league, and euros and you're still saying messi had a better year.

Messi has only scored more goals then Ronaldo that is the only thing he has done better then Ronaldo this year.

The Ballon d'or is an individual trophy, not team. You just cannot argue with the fact that Leo is better than Ronaldo, he is mesmerising to watch, his dribbling, vision etc, compared to Ronaldo who waits in the box for 90 minutes. And he won the Euros in 2016 pal, not in 2017, this Ballon d'or is for the 2017 calendar year.

If it is done on individual players then surely lewandowski has to be up there in contention. The guy is a goal machine with 51 in 52 games or something crazy like that. But it will be one of Ronaldo or Messi.
