I can’t hold back the tears as I realise that the balance of power has shifted. If you disagree then you really haven’t been watching over recent years.

Today we were given the run around by our neighbours; we may have huffed and puffed but there was only ever one team likely to win: the most upsetting aspect is that they play the football I want to see whilst we are cumbersome and disjointed. Pep improves Sterling whilst Jose simply slags off those players who do not perform to his standard.

My heart is breaking, disagree all you like but the balance of power has moved, if only we had signed Pep instead of the pragmatic Jose who continually identified conspiracies but who is yet to convince me he is right for out great club.

We may finish 2nd which is am improvement on 6th but to see City playing the free flowing football we are famous for, whilst we labour is a dagger to my heart.

Agree AJH - many reasons but there are no excuses.

The people I blame most now are the sychophants that are 100% behind any manager whenever we sign them up no matter how they perform, constantly saying it takes times - every minute it goes on is not only a minute wasted it's a minute we have to catch up on the likes of City. They should always get our support but that doesn't mean we shouldn't be able to suggest improvements and demand our team doesn't play to simply stop another team.

We have hired 3 managers on the spin that play in a way that is no longer suitable when you have teams that can operate how City do. In Europe there are 7 or 8 others that would give us this kind of run around as well. Nobody should kid themselves that this game was a close 2-1 despite the Lukaku miss, it was fear against a horde. Just like against Arsenal after 20mins.

We may be second, but we are a long way from being the team we hope to see. We have glimpses now and again, but is that enough? Unfortunately for most fans it is, we get what we deserve.

AJH

When I posted this more than once over the last couple of years people deny it, but City had a plan in place years ago and have worked towards where they are now. We haven’t and it shows.

Agreed in it's entirety with Tony and Beast. The balance has been shifting and has now shifted. I've tried to say this but been shot down. It hurts me to say it. I'm 61 and I haven't seen us struggle against city in this manner. We also struggle against top teams.
Investment in grass roots. Investment in infrastructure. Investment in first team. We can no longer buy second best. We need the best.
But above all, we need a manager who believes in the United traditions. Allowing a visiting team 75% possession is utterly ridiculous and no one can mask this. It's going to take years to repair the damage of underfunding. City and other clubs will not stand still. So it's a big mountain to climb.
But we need to have the desire and faith to do it.
I'm with Tony that the confirmation of what some of us have been talking about is unfortunately the reality.
We can either sit and complain about it or we can change our mindset and try and catch them up. I hope we go for the latter.
