Ridiculous if the reports are true that fellaini is staying. He’s played his part in certain games, but bending over backwards for an injury prone 30 year old squad player is pretty sickening to say the least. And if Young remains our first choice left back than I expect there to be problems come Xmas. Trying not to be negative but these are two players that should not be near our first team. Young should be a squad player but fellaini should be shown the door.

I’m not entirely sure we’ve bent over backwards here. My thinking is that perhaps we’ve left our original offer on the table and he’s not got the offers he wanted or whatever, and has decided to stay. Fingers crossed he’s going to be not much more than a rotation or plan b option. But if he’s going to be a key member of the squad well it may be a long season!

If Jose like Fellaini and he’s happy to be a bit part player then guess that’s ok. Matic, Fred and Pogba will be the first choice 3 you’d imagine. McTominay, Herrera and Fellaini as back up.

If these rumours are true, why make a big deal of the whole announcement being the 1st of July. I'd get it if he was signing for someone else but just renewing his contract is ridiculous. I think Caolan_2 has hit the nail on the head with the original offer we made being the best he got offered.

Gonna stick a months wages on city winning the league by boxing day.

It feels like fellaini has had the power here. If he’s staying then I imagine he has certain Clauses in his contract which stipulates a certain amount of playing time. He is not good enough for us, even as a squad player. We should have retracted the offer on the table when he went round half of Europe offering himself to other clubs. Quite frankly it’s a shambles. If we aren’t signing another midfielder I would have much rather seen pereira get given a chance to gain a place in the squad.

Mourinho will be over the moon, he was secured his first choice target for midfield. I expect work to start on Young's new long term deal to secure our first choice LB for the next couple of years.

Then sell Martial and replace him with a soon to be 30 Willian. Then sign Bonucci to be first choice CB alongside Smalling.

Jobs a good un. Lol.

I am sorry but we made him an offer. He looked elsewhere for a better offer but could not find one same came back.

I would have said the original offer is no longer valid and offered him lower terms. Take it or leave it.

He atleast puts effort in when he plays unlike a few other players. He ain't my cup of tea as he lacks in talent but not effort but i think he will be a good plan b or c for the team when you want to rest the likes of matic fred and pogba.

I wouldve got rid of but if that means spend money else where and secure our targets then that's a fair decision.

I hope this is paper talk :but if it is true then deal could be 1 year with a 1 year extension only triggered by the club that was mooted some time ago. can't blame the player really if its true - no one in their right mind would turn the club down.

"bending over backwards for an injury prone 30 year old squad player is pretty sickening to say the least"

Only just managed to regain my composure after laughing so much at an over reaction.

It's all OK, don't worry. It's all part of the 3 year Mourinho masterplan. As we keep getting told by many a poster on this site, once Mourinho has the team he wants after 5 transfer windows, we will play ten yards further up the field without the need for two holding midfielders and it will be a goal frenzy like it was in Madrid. We have it on good authority from these posters that this is how it will be. If it's Fellaini, Young, Willian, Smalling and Bonnuci who are part of Jose's hand picked and well crafted squad, just have faith that the man knows what he's doing and they are the best and most appropriate players available in the roles that they will play. It's not about the individuals, it's about the team. Jose's a serial winner and he knows more than any of us about the blend of players needed to get the right balance. Remember, in Jose we trust. No?

What about giving the city the title by Boxing Day? Also a classic.

Hardly an overreaction moon. If we have aspirations of getting back to the top then fellaini is not the sort of player who will get us there. If he stays I guarantee Jose will play him in the big games. And then let’s see how we perform.

What I'm surprised about is why when Fellaini was available on a free contract none of the top sides came in for him. He is exactly the kind of player all the top sides need as a plan B or C.

So why didn't Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Atletico Madrid, Chelsea, Man City, PSG, Napoli ect ect swoop for him I will never know.

We have pulled off the coup of the summer by snatching him away from the likes of UCL heavy weights such as Galatasaray, Arsenal and Trabzonspor.

{Ed002's Note - There really is nothing that is "free" about signing players.}

Manc Man, have I missed the posts where people were guaranteeing we would play ten yards further up and have a goal frenzy? Could you quote someone saying that? All I remember is some posts hoping that might happen and urging not to judge before he has his players in. But it’s much easier to argue when you invent your opponents position and eggagerate it to sound unreasonable.

Example: So, Manc, you think Jose is the worst manager in the world and we will be relegated next year?! What a stupid thing to say!

Surely this isn't a serious thread?

Glad to know the solution to the title is whether Fellaini plays or not hahahahahaah. brilliant.

I thought as many of you were banging on about it was because Sanchez is rubbish, our defence is rubbish and Pogba is the worlds biggest flop?

oh and let us do not forget the worlds worst fullbacks according to you all.

Sometimes I wonder whether people on here have ever done their coaching badges or been involved at a serious enough level to comment on tactical decisions made by a manager. It's ludicrous.

Park, it's a complete over-reaction. A player resigning is sickening? let that sink in for a minute.

I love Fellaini as a player personally and I'd rather see him continue to be at Old Trafford over players like Pogba (ED002 made it clear he never really wanted to come back) or Martial (Nicholas Anelka 2.0).

I would suggest that perhaps with the exception of the likes of Pep and Wenger, most professional managers in the game would want a player of Fellaini's build and ability to create space with his body in their midfield or attacking options.

Welcome back Fellaini and I hope he continues to annoy many of you with his long ball ability (an ability that is incredibly rare to find in forwards may I add, letalone midfielders)

He may not be able to pass a ball very well but he's second to the likes of Andy Carrol when it comes to attacking the ball in the air.

jred I think I detect sarcasm, but just in case. No we do not.
Fair do s Fellini has been useful and appalling in equal measures. If he is the answer it is a damn stupid question we are addressing, but seriously, for me the real issue is he doesn't want to be here and having mucked us about we should tell him the offer has been withdrawn. ON YER BIKE LAD!

20.) 27 Jun 2018
27 Jun 2018 20:28:04
Jose been very vocal he wants to keep him, not a jred type player but he is a Jose type and part of the style he plays.

22.) 28 Jun 2018
28 Jun 2018 00:00:15
He is useless as a midfielder because he can't pass the ball. He's also useless at manouvering and turning quickly. These are basic attributes of a midfielder and he hasn't got any of them.
Let's not forget that he'd been mouthing off about holding United to ransom with his contract, and all of a sudden, all the deals have fallen through as he IS useless and no team wants him.
