We have a good record against spurs and I would expect us to a reaction after the Brighton game .
I would bring smalling back, was our best cb last season and had Kane in his back pocket last game .
Bailly looks rash he wAs dropped last season after a similar performance against Seville.
Lindelof off looks to be still struggling with the physical side of the EPL.
They were awful against Brighton as cb pair one of the worst performances I've seen.

Spurs must be feeling confident, their keeper can even go out on a session thinking he won't have much to do on Monday.

Make or break already on Monday for us. If we lose I think the manager is a gonner.

Beast, I don't think our CEO, Owners and Board are that decisive. Think LGV - it took quite a while.
I would hope that they would not be quite as rash as you imply, but start to consider and monitor this carefully. I believe they are already doing this as they are no longer seem prepared to to buy older expensive players.
I think we are already in
a "hope for the best, plan for the worst" phase.
If we lose on Monday it will concentrate minds, but I hope we don't get a knee jerking reaction.

Lindelof nah. Smalling Bailly for me.

5.) 24 Aug 2018
24 Aug 2018 16:43:43
Lindelof looks solid when he’s part of a back three (Porto / Sweden) I think somewhere there is a good defender waiting to come out.

6.) 24 Aug 2018
24 Aug 2018 16:51:15
They're not that decisive. It took how long to realise Moyes was useless. And it took months for the toxics to get van Gaal out. Also look at the available candidates. Hardly any stand outs.

Who's available?
Money and the chance to manage United might make some available .

8.) 24 Aug 2018
24 Aug 2018 17:23:39
Definitely agree they aren't decisive - but this has been going on for an age. A decisive board would have axed him last Christmas rather than extending his contract. However subsequent to that they have seen a pretty weak finish to the season, a terrible pre-season, very poor start football wise, loads of moaning from the manager/ fans/ players, star players trying to leave and maybe if we do lose to Spurs they will think it's their last chance to get rid (with Intl break coming), otherwise it will be very problematic doing it later in the season and almost kills the season. Hopefully we smash Spurs and the corner is turned, but the fact most of us see that as ridiculously unlikely says a lot, considering they signed nobody!

Not signing the players he wanted was a sign for me that patience is wearing thin. Loss to Spurs will be the killer blow, even for dilly-dalliers apparently running the club.

9.) 24 Aug 2018
24 Aug 2018 17:32:31
I think lindelof and bailey need to form a partnership so I would play them together again on Monday. Jones, smalling and rojo are never fit for long enough to want to put them in a cb pairing. It just means constantly chopping and changing the team. Our biggest problem Imo is that the team selection is not consistent enough. We need to decide our best team and play it when everybody is fit. Just feels like if we don't have a 8/ 10 performance then we make 3 or 4 changes, and even if we do we will still swap a couple regardless.

Agree with Jred. Sadly and well predicted on some of our part years before Jose came, he is a toxic manager. He has spent a fortune and still doesn't have his best team. Falls out with everyone. Probably even falls out with his reflection in the mirror.

Have to say someone like Zidane would be a good move simply because he can attract decent players. Although I'm sure the club would love Poch who can work on a budget and is good at developing youth players.

Jose should have been a ship steadier only. Not long-term. Jose doesn't do long-term and he is about acheiving personal honours for himself by spending vast amounts on ready-made players for instant success. MU do not spend millions on numerous 30 year old players like Inter. He got Matic, Ibra, Sanchez etc, but we cannot have an entire first XI in their final contracts. The club will have to rebuild again in two years when Jose has gone elsewhere.

The board and Jose are both to blame. Both have made mistakes and still making them. But our biggest mistake is persisting with Jose as we will finish outside the top four for sure. Even if we beat spurs and there is some kind of stability, it will keep happening.

Bottom line is we cannot sell our best players for a manager who himself doesn't want to be at the club. He is a multimillionaire and still lives in a hotel room. Sack Jose, pay him his coin, bring in ZZ or pay whatever it takes to get Poch. It will be considerably less than finishing outside the top four will.

And maybe we will play proper football where we create more than two chances a game.

It's like being in a relationship you know has no future. Trust me when I say the longer this keeps happening, the longer we will stay behind the best.

Guys we have the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Paul Pogba, Lukaku, Martial etc and we cannot create chances. This isn't the players. It's the manager. It's his anti-football outdated tactics.

12.) 24 Aug 2018
24 Aug 2018 18:13:20
Sydney is martial one of our best players? Looks half arsed and is still sulking.

13.) 24 Aug 2018
24 Aug 2018 18:13:56
Jred most managers aren't going to walk out on current clubs for united. Its becoming a poisoned chalice.

14.) 24 Aug 2018
24 Aug 2018 19:00:16
Most of us wanted the manager to give the likes of Lindelof and Andreas Pereira a run of games before the start of the season.
But once they make few mistakes in a game, majority here wanted Smalling in place of Lindelof and Matic for Andreas.
I wonder why we complain Mourinho always prefers established players!

I know this is not the time but would like to be given them few games to allow them to improve and learn from their mistakes.
If not now when?

I disagree United are still a massive pull .
Massive name, massive budget massive wage.

Syndey another that thinks Jose bought all the players. Pogba was coming with or without Jose.

17.) 24 Aug 2018
24 Aug 2018 19:53:21
FZZ, Pogba is a world class midfielder. He wants to play attacking attractive football. Jose wants to play his anti-football limiting us to two chances a game and no chances for our opponents. Problem is we give them 5-6 good chances, us still two. We should be making 10+ chances each half.

18.) 24 Aug 2018
24 Aug 2018 19:56:42
I would never give Jose full control on transfers. He'd bankrupt us by buying 32 year old has beens with one good season left in them.

19.) 24 Aug 2018
24 Aug 2018 20:14:57
Can we stop with this toxic nonsense. If those who throw it about as an insult, were prepared to watch another minute of that anti-football, then fair play to you. You're a better man than me. The revisionist specs are on I fear.

But you would allow Ed Woodward, the guy that won champions league with 2 sides, prem league title 3 times, serie a treble, and La liga title choose the players? Was that Ed Woodward?

Im not a blind follower of Jose, I think the root cause is not Jose its the non footballing men making football calls to suit the money side. If Jose goes he goes, all i am calling for is football men to run the show, and currently they are not.

22.) 24 Aug 2018
24 Aug 2018 20:54:19
Fzz
What does Woodward do?
Who are these other non football men your talking about?

23.) 24 Aug 2018
24 Aug 2018 21:07:03
Woodward buys the players. The non footballing board I am talking about.

24.) 24 Aug 2018
24 Aug 2018 21:20:12
Does Woodward buy the players?
Diesche identify them?
I'm not even sure who is on the board or Chelsea Liverpool city's. Are they all made up of football people?
Do they need to be or do they employ people to look after the footy side?

How many people with a football background would be capable of being a board member for a company the size of United.

25.) 24 Aug 2018
24 Aug 2018 21:27:45
FZZ, I think there's a few people at fault at the club. Jose, Ed and whoever helps with opinions on transfers. Probably SAF, Gill and one or two others. But whoever we buy is kind of irrelevant in this subject as we could have Messi and Neymar in the starting XI, but like Lukaku and Sanchez, they will have limited opportunities to score with Jose's tactics. Imagine the likes of Martial, Sanchez in the City side right now. It's not about the players, it's the tactics and lack of team morale and team spirit. The players have lost confidence in the manager and so have I. Our first game of last season against WHU was the last game I actually enjoyed and thought we played like the old. Can you think of a game since? Maybe spurs.

26.) 24 Aug 2018
24 Aug 2018 21:31:06
I have no idea sorry. What do you think?

27.) 24 Aug 2018
24 Aug 2018 21:46:59
Syd, you’re a bit feisty tonght. How about coming back from 0-2 to City to win 3-2, that was pretty good.

28.) 24 Aug 2018
24 Aug 2018 21:47:50
Fzz I think it's odd that you think the root cause is the non football men. When you don't know who these people are or who is actually making the calls.

29.) 24 Aug 2018
24 Aug 2018 21:50:44
José leaving is inevitable. We should be thinking about our season right now. I don't think we'd rescue a bad start. Too many strong teams. I genuinely believe the club are looking at candidates right now. I'd be concerned if they weren't. José has already planted the seed for his excuses. Many of the United fans are already buying it. Truth is he has been backed considerably. We know he didn't get Perisic, yes Woodward ballsed that one up. Didn't pay £60m for Rose either, probably a wise move. Toni Kroos if even achievable would have cost mega money including salary. Was he a good fit? According to Jose Yes, I am not sure. Good player, but getting on and unproven in the Premier League. Problem isn't just acquisitions though, it's his managing. And if rumours are to be believed, no one wants to play his style of football anymore. Many players actually rejected playing for him according to Richard Keys. Sure it's just hearsay, but would you play for Jose in this MU team? Many would think twice or be advised accordingly by their representatives.

30.) 24 Aug 2018
24 Aug 2018 21:54:40
I very much doubt SAF and Gill have a say in spending the money.

But like I said Sydney before I am not blindly following Jose and if we get another manager it doesn't really fuss me. I think the suits above the manager are the problem*. If the right guy is in charge of footballing matters, the right manager will be in charge of the team.

*In club direction.
*Recruitment including players and coaching staff.

We seem to have stagnated during Woodwards watch. 1 manager in Moyes was influenced by SAF and Gill. 2nd was Woodwards man so that's his free mistake. Now Jose, things need to change, no more free mistakes he shouldn't be hiring managers.

31.) 24 Aug 2018
24 Aug 2018 21:59:04
AJH, you mean when Pogba was given free reign and took control of the game against Jose's tactics? That was MU of old and that's what our players can do when playing aggressively and positively. Not pragmatic and negative.

I'm never feisty mate, but it's clear to see if people just open their eyes. It's headed one way, make a change now or next season when we are in the Europa and our best players are gone.

Let the players play Jose, why have Pogba and Sanchez and keep them on a leash. Why have Lukaku and give him 1-2 opportunities per a game.
