I know this might be match of the day fever or flavour of the month thinking but in january would we have been better off in terms of squad balance signing giroud instead of alexis sanchez.

Would have left two very talented young players to continue developing in their favoured position.

Also its would have given us an alternative to lukaku in terms of his presence and what giroud lacks in pace and power he makes up for in link up play and technique.

We know mourinho was in the market for a back up to lukaku and i can't think of a better fit for that role than giroud, maybe mandzukic but he seems to have a first team role at juve now.

If someone had suggested this in January then people would have lost their mind. At that moment, instead of going in for a world class pacey winger who can play across the front 3, we would have been going in for one more player to play hoof ball to. Sanchez would have joined City and would have definitely been successful under Pep. And we would all be criticizing Jose, owners and Woodward.
Now I would take Fat Anderson over Sanchez.
