I expect us to go to Newcastle tomorrow and get 3 points. It won't be as straight forward as our first three games but I think we'll have too much for them. The intriguing game coming up though is Spurs at Wembley.

This is a title shot for Ole. A free swing at the man that the club want to be the permanent manager come June. If Ole can go to Wembley and beat Pochettino''s Spurs and put a good run together then I can't see anyone else in the job in the summer.

United have put themselves in a stupid position with the statements regarding the future appointment of our manager. If Pochettino is the main target, why would he commit to us without knowing what Ole could do for the rest of the season. Are we going to remove a fan favourite at the helm to bring in an outsider? Maybe OGS isn't the long term solution but if he starts climbing the table and the style of football and results continue to improve then the United board are stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Apparently there's a 5 man shortlist for the job.

Poch, Zidane, Blanc, OGS and Marco Rose.

Id discount Zidane and Blanc straight away. Zidane would probably be better suited to a director of football job. Blancs not been on a management for a bit and wasn't that impressive. Poch still has question marks over the mental side of the game. It concerns me that spurs always crumble under pressure. Just this week they go second and people talk about a title challenge and they lose the next game. That leaves OGS who's doing a good job but hasn't had a big test yet and Rose who's an unknown factor and a name the majority haven't heard of.

We have rushed the last 3 appointments all have failed to deliver and not been given time.

We need to make sure the next appointment is the correct one.

If ole can get us top 4 while playing the brand of football we are seeing and get a dof in that can sort the other mess out then he should be given the job.

To many times now we have gone with a manager with a cv give it ole and make sure the dof can sort the recruitment out.

Not felt like this about watching us play for the b3st part of 5 years


There are going to be games where we lose but you won't see us change the way we play under ole.

Poch doesn't have the luxury of serious quality players for rotation especially during this festive period.
whereas, he would get 2 quality players at almost every position at Utd.

There’s a great feel good factor right now but OGS’s management experience is sparse, certainly at the highest level. He’s a legend but that doesn’t mean we should let sentiment guide us, nice as it may be.

I’m not impressed with the shortlist, I think Poch is the stand out candidate right now. However, despite my reservations, Ole has a chance to show what he can do so who knows? If the players respond to him and start to consistently play to their potential, scoring goals, playing great football, and climbing the table, then it would be a brave man to ditch him for someone else.

I think the club have done the right thing by taking their time with the appointment. The key for ole was to get the players enjoying their football again. Get the players out there expressing themselves and entertaining the fans. I can hardly remember this much of a buzz around the club since Fergie left.

Although I love ole and think he has done great, I do doubt he has what it takes to take the job permanently. I honestly feel the brains and the puppet master is Phelan. I wasn’t particularly enthused about ole until I heard Phelan was joining. He is united through and through and has a wealth of experience that we have missed for years. Moyes May still be in the job if he retained him and meulensteen.

I am firmly behind the idea of Poch. I think we have to resist being a prisoner of the moment and wait until we come up against the other top 6 teams. Poch is one of the best managers in the league and has overachieved hugely with spurs. He has a great team but lacks that depth and funds to compete on a level playing field with the likes of city and Liverpool. He is a great man manager, has champions league experience and he promotes an entertaining and high energy brand of football. I think we would regret not hiring him.

Too often as united fans we are blinded by sentimentality. That’s what separates us from the Reals of the world who are ruthless in their appointments. Love ole but we would be silly not to go for Poch in the summer.

We already have the right manager, give Ole the job i'd say, give him 2,3 year contract with an option to 5 and we will get back to the top sooner rather than later, sometimes you just know when something is right and OLE has clicked right away, he knows what it means to represent the badge, he knows the culture, history, tradition and philosophy of the club, you guys want Zidane? he comes from Madrid, another one who will think he is bigger than the club, you want Poch? he wants Madrid first, Latin american players and managers think Real Madrid and Barcelona are the greatest clubs ever and in Madrids case justified.

But that's my point Bolger. There was no need to make definitive statements like "OGS is only our interim manager while we look for our next permanent manager". I'm all for doing their due diligence but they've given themselves stupid obstacles to overcome. Plus Ole came out in the first press conference saying he'd like the job. It's a mess.

It makes the whole process ten times harder. If the board wanted a new manager, then just let Carrick have it until the end of the season with say Mick Phelan coming in to help. By giving Ole a chance they've seriously given themselves a headache they didn't need.

I'm really enjoying the football but I'm incredibly apprehensive about the way the board will handle this transition.

There will be several candidates. If we can't get into the top 4 and win a cup OGS may be given the job but anything short of that and i'm sure the club will press on with appointing a new manager.

Personally i'm not even thinking about the summer i'm only looking at the next 5 months. 100% behind ole and the players.
He is getting much more from rash martial pogba in particular.
The longer we can ride this wave of optimism and feel good factor the better.
Lets see if we can make up the gap and get top 4 and worry about who takes over for next season.

I might be wrong but I seem to recall that to be interim manager for any length of time they have to have the badges and Carrick doesn’t. The fact they brought Ole in says they are giving themselves time. I said this before but appointing OGS on a permanent basis would be a massive risk and I don’t think the club can afford another mistake.

I keep saying that the next appointment by Utd must be the DoF or Technical Director as the role now seems to be mentioned. No point getting a new Head Coach until we have the right structure above.

The TD can play a major role in appointing the Head Coach. Perhaps if it is done this way OGS might be a serious candidate if results and performances go well.

Just glad we have an air of positivity around the club now.

My insecurities are that Ole is just what the players needed in the short term. He does well enough to earn himself the job permanently but isn't the nan to move the club forward.

I don't know how any one could give OGS the job permanently after 3 performances against some lowly sides.

In all honesty, it was an iffy appointment. Feels like just another PR stunt where Woodward is trying to distract from the underlying issues at the club.

I'm really enjoying the performances so far under OGS, however I'm not allowing myself to be convinced that this is the absolute way forward. OGS has a way to go before he can be considered for the full time position, if he is even being considered right now which I highly doubt.

Firstly, they need to appoint the right DOF and then make sure that they get the right manager that can work within that structure. I'd imagine the No.1 choice will be Poch but who knows how that will turn out In the next couple of months.

All I feel is that they have to clean up their mess and do it quick. Therefore, I imagine that OGS will not be in the running, presuming they sort out it out ASAP.

If OGS does get the job full time, it will only point to me that Ed and the board have once again failed to be decisive enough and get their intended target.

{Ed0333's Note - maybe you’re intended target doesn’t want the United job? Bloody hell youre arrogance is off the chart. You have no define right to any player or coach in world football. As for OGS he beaten sides Jose probably would have lost too. There’s no doubt he’s bought the feel good factor back and to boot he seems like a thoroughly decent chap. I really hope he gets the job full time.

I genuinely don't think we have a chance at poch. I'm with ed, I don't think utd are what he's looking for. If he leaves spurs I think he will go abroad.

Poch may be a good manager and many may think he is what we need. Maybe yes maybe no. For me, I’m not sure as he could be another Moyes from Everton. Both did well and maintained in a small budget.
More importantly as I have mentioned some time back even if we want Poch it doesn’t mean he wants to join us. So yes I agree with Ed0333 in some ways.

Of course United don't have the 'define' right to any coach in world football. I was just giving my opinion and I believe that Ed and his old chums at the top have no actual real logic behind this appointment, Feels like a PR stunt.

We may or may not get our first, it may or not be poch (Just a guess) . But going by the last couple of appointments, they surely have to get the next one right.

And forgive me for not getting carried away by the last 3 results. I'd rather see where we are in a few months before appointment OGS.

Has he not got the players playing for him? Has he nor rejuvenated Pogba? Is he not universally liked within the club? Has he not propelled you up the table and within reach of top 4? Has he not got lovely dimples when he smiles? You talk about getting the next managerial appointment right whose to say Poch or Zidane will be right or whoever it is Ed the pleb is considering. Maybe you have the right guy at helm already? As I say excuse my logic I’ve had a few drinks.
