Great work ed1. The summary is quite similar to the opinion that I had about him. He is good in every aspect physically but doesn't have the mental strength to be a top level player. But I think he still has time to cut out those flaws. Maybe he needs a coach who is at his throat all the time, pushing him. Who do you think is better Esq Sommer or Burki?

Thanks.

{Ed001's Note - I am not convinced he has it in him now to cut out his flaws. He is not a young boy any more, he should be coming to his peak.

It is a tough call who is better, there is little to choose between them and neither would fill me with enthusiasm. Probably slightly Burki but there is nothing in it.}

On topic of GKs ed1, seeing as there is a chance of DDG leaving are there anyone, that you know of, who we are looking at with the view of bringing in if DDG decides to leave? Also who do you think will be a good enough player to replace him? I don't think there are that many good keepers out there that are likely to leave their clubs. I hope DDG ends up staying but I don't think anyone can begrudge him if he decides to move on.

Thanks.

{Ed001's Note - I believe Romero would be seen as being capable of stepping up.}

I like Romero's distribution, but never seen him consistently enough to be happy or worried by that.

Thanks for the instant reply ed1;
I don't think that is the worst idea given the lack of good GKs around that can slot right into the first team. Also maybe the club thinks one of Joel Pereira or Dean Henderson can develop to be first choice in a few years time, maybe?

Any young GKs caught your eyes ed1?

{Ed001's Note - to be honest, no. You are right about the lack of good goalkeepers right now. There do not seem to be any outstanding young ones breaking through either.}

Only decent young ones I have heard of (not seen much just heard/ read about) are Lafont, Meret, Donnarumma and Svilar. And even then it was a year or so ago. The only one I have seen any of recently is Donnarumma and he reminds me of Courtois, tall and clumsy and not improving too much but I. have seen very little so maybe wrong.
Do you know anything about them ed1?

Thanks.

{Ed001's Note - Lafont I had forgotten about until you mentioned him, I rate him. He is very good. Donnarumma has attitude issues and it has stalled his development.

I have not seen either of the other two play so can't tell you anything about them.}

Deep don't forget Oblak.

{Ed002's Note - Oblak isn’t that young and is wanted elsewhere.}

Emil Audero doesn't look too bad.
