Its like this.

Is Herrera worth £200k per week? No.

Should we have let his contract reach 6 months from expiry before starting talks? No.

Would he have signed a contract if offers 18 months ago? Yes.

Was he disrespected by the club? Yes.

Is he right to leave? Yes.

Is he the most talented player in the squad? No.

Was he a hard working, popular player who got the club? Yes.

Going into this summer we needed two midfielders even before Herrera left. Does anyone have any confidence in the club delivering replacements not only better in quality but equaling his commitment?

We managed to give Jones, Young and Smalling new deals. Even, bizarrely the total waste of space that's Rojo. But not Valencia. Its baffling the decision making that's gone on the last two or three years.

Jones, Young and Smalling should have joined Herrera out of the exit door.

Far to many mediocre players have allowed to play their trade at OT.
Hopefully the club has a clear plan and sticks to it.

Get Rice and Loftus Cheek. Both young, fit and probably gettable. It’d solve our CM problem.

{Ed025's Note - rice and loftus cheek?, that sounds like a meal you get in the bayou of the southern states of america mark.. :)

I like Rice, he looks like he is going to be a great player. Yet his game is about breaking up play. He is decent on the ball, but in no way a playmaker. In that respect he is similar to McTominay, although better defensively but not as good going forward with the ball.

If we are going to sign a midfielder from an EPL side this summer for me it would have to be Ruben Neves.

As for Loftus-Cheek, good player, but not a patch on James Maddison.

Tielemans would also be a good option to replace herrera, did very well playing between ndidi and maddison in leicester midfield. Could see the same thing between for example Matic and pogba.

Hmmmm, I'm not so convinced on Tielemans. He is clearly a very talented player, and he has adapted to the EPL very well. Yet he disappears in games where Leicester aren't dominating. He is also a little lazy defensively, with Pogba having the same issue and Matic not having the mobility to cover. I would have serious concerns about that midfield being able to impose itself on opposition teams. Slow, immobile and lacking work rate.
