I hate to say but Liverpool deservingly won the trophy and are the best team in europe along with City.

No matter how much we say Klopp to be hugs and pats, he did create a winning team.

For me, todays result goes back to signings from last three years along with getting rid of deadwoods.

Every signing klopp made has worked amazingly well. Salah, Mane, Firmino, Fabinho, Van dijk, alisson, robertson. If you look at us none of our signings have worked well. If we want to succeed in future, every transfer window for next 3 to 5 years is crucial.

I have accepted the fact that we are not the giants anymore and we will not be winning major trophies anytime soon. But, it would be awful if 5 years from now, we are still in rebuilding process.

It helps when a manager is actually backed to buy the players he wants.


Will never understand why Woodward extended Jose's contract in the January then in the summer didn't back him.



Same goes for ole if not backed to get rid of players not good enough and buy he will suffer the same fate.

By Christmas he will be back at mold.

Jose was backed, i can't believe this narrative is still going on.

He spent as much money as klopp has had in 4 years as well as not having to sell one their best players to barcelona.

The reason we are so behind is due to recruitment but also style of play, look how everyone around europe plays in a similar fashion. Buidling up from the back, attacking full backs, high intensity pressing from the front.

Until we sort that out we are going to be behind europes top clubs.

Hard to argue with any of that. Liverpool have been excellent this season and could potentially be this good for the next 3 or 4 years when you look at the age of their squad. They look to have a fairly clear idea of how they want to play and Klopp has been backed by the board to bring in players suited to that style of play.

They have also bought from the level of the transfer market we should be looking at. Firmino (Hoffenheim), Salah (Roma), Van Dijk and Mane (Southampton) etc etc. None of those players were seen as among the best in the world in their positions when signed and were playing for clubs nowhere near Liverpool's size. They don't try to buy at the very top end of the market, they seem to have targeted players who are good just now but could be great individually and within their system. We used to do that but in recent years we've looked at flashy names who just haven't worked.

Like Bailly (villarael), lindelof (benfica), mkhitaryan (dortmund), schneiderlin (Southampton), shaw (southampton), darmian (torino), rojo (sporting), depay (psv) and blind (ajax) .

Hardly the flashiest of names and from that same tier of the transfer market liverpool have been buying from.

Was the money spent during LvG or Jose’s reign on players they identified as first choice? I suspect not.

What we are seeing is a disjointed leaderless mess lacking any obvious plan, the epitome of which was appointing a playing legend lacking relevant experience as manager. Perhaps he will accept the players are bought for him unlike others such as a Mourinho and LvG, a real bonus for the hierarchy.

Klopp doesn't have full control of transfers at liverpool does he, they have a transfer committe that identifies players they think fit into their system.

Also they were prepared to wait to get the right players they wanted. couldn't Sign van dijk in the summer, didn't settle for a second choice player who was of a worse level.

The things that has helped them is klopp has a style of play he has implemented which makes it a lot easier for scouts to work out whos worth signing and not.

Simple fact is we have no direction in terms of what we want to buy and whom are we buying for.

We are still tsrgeting Mourinhos's identified players yet we sacked him.

The decision making is absolutely shambles.

It shouldn't matter where you buy players from l, as long as you have a clear idea about what skill set you want from a player and how that fits into the team.

Unfortunately, we have had no clear plan, any sort of plan has been ripped up and rewritten every time we have hired a new manager. As well as the club having one eye on the commercial value of players and taking that into consideration when buy players rather than purely based on what they off the team on the pitch.

Our main problem is we have owners that view the Club as a global brand rather than a football Club. Their prime motivation is to increase the asset value of the Club and matters on the pitch is not their primary concern.

They have maximised the Clubs money making potential by exploiting the brand, by trading on our history and taking advantage of our vast and loyal fan base.

The truth is success on the pitch isn't necessary for driving the value of the brand or securing lucrative sponsorship deals and investment. Of course success on the pitch helps but it isn't fundamental to their business plan.

Some will argue that money has been spent, our wage bill is one of the biggest in Europe but this money has been invested without planning or foresight. It's been spent to keep the Club marketable and operating at a level necessary to continue to attract investors and not to make the team successful.

For a Club the size of Manchester United not to have some kind of head of football operations is ridiculous. The fact that one has yet to be appointed is equally obscene. On footballing terms we are effectively a leaderless organisation with people making decisions on transfers and player recruitment and retention without the required knowledge or experience.

It's been 6 years since SAF retired and we still have no idea who is in charge of player recruitment or retention. Some players appear to have been recruited and retained merely to protect the makability of the brand or they are a particular favourite of one of the owners. A toxic dressing room culture has been allowed to prosper and fester spreading its poison throughout the ranks. The players now treat the Club like our owners. They exploit the brand to maximise their social media accounts and grow their non footballing activities. They sit on inflated wages often watching from the treatment table and refuse to move on despite never playing or ever being fit.

It remains my view that Mourinho wasn't sufficiently backed last summer was solely down to a lack of ambition on behalf of the Club. In my opinion the Club were content with finishing second, they were arrogant and complacent in the view that Mourinho could keep the Club within the top 4 without more investment. In my view they had no appetite to spend more money chasing trophies and trying to close the gap. The subsequent fall out was predictable their arrogance and complacency laid bare which will now cost millions trying to put right.

Does anybody really believe that our owners are hurting from seeing City win a domestic treble or Liverpool become Champions of Europe?

Does anyone really think we have a coherent plan or blueprint in order to return us to the top and get us winning the big trophies again?

If the answer is "No" buckle up we're in for a rough ride. Sorry I just needed a rant today completely fed up long summer ahead!

Spot on, our players seem to be important because of media clicks, not how they perform. The club supported the players over the manager which will cause problems anywhere.

In terms of planning, even before the final John Henry was outlining the Scouse owners ambition and plans whilst we get nothing but new sponsors. Our ambition seems to be financial, asset value is nirvana, they only act when we finish out of contention, not building on success. The club have not appointed someone to mastermind the football side of the business. We appointed a manager before the DOF, the cart before the horse. We have no idea on the direction we are going in, on field there is no obvious system so how will they buy players to fit it?

When players look at our club to see if they want to join, what do they see?
No Champions League, declining team, club without obvious direction. They will look at the manager and ask themselves can he really take them to glory when he has no history of it. Money, name and history is what we will have to trade on. The tables have been turned in six years and it was all so predictable 6 years ago.
