Ed,

Not United related, but a couple of things that I'd like to ask.

A lot of clubs sign young players, some are tipped to be wonderkids. while others are seen as ones with lot of potential. Obviously, the parent clubs send them out on loan and keep evaluating the progress (I hope they do) . Is there any league/ club (in England) that would be a good place for these kids to learn and gain valuable experience?

Simply put, if you were the manager of a club and you had a lot of younger kids, where would you be willing to loan them out to?

Thanks,

{Ed002's Note - That is not how it works at all.}

I think I completely messed up the syntax in my question. I'll try again.

My guess is that clubs are always willing/ keen to send out youth players on loan? The whole point of this activity, at least in my head, is so that these players can get game time in some other club, in some other league.

Based on the above, are there any clubs that are preferred over another one? Purely in terms of their ability to work with younger kids?

Does the question make any sense or have I messed up again? Apologies, Ed.

Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - You cannot simply send players where you want.}

Question makes perfect sense Raghav, nothing to apologise for.

IF you were able to pick and choose where players go on loan, what clubs have a good reputation for nurturing them?

It depends on the player as well. Is he ready for the physicality of the Championship for example? Does he need a stepping stone in Eredivisie perhaps? Will a young British kid settle in Germany?

Take Ampadu for example for us (Chelsea) . We sent him to Leipzig. Now that's as challenging as it gets. He's going abroad and their team is really talented.
If he gets minutes then it'll be about the best loan ever. However, for another kid it would be a horrible move as he wouldn't get time.

Mount went to Vitesse first and then Championship. James straight to Championship. Christensen went to Germany. All were great loans, but all were very different.

There's so many factors to take into account with loans.

RWWD (I don't know your name, sorry) .

That's the thing, I've been thinking about this for a while, and while I cannot pick a club or even a league that I'd like to loan players out, what I feel would be critical for me as a manager would be knowing the kind of football I want my player to learn. For me, it'll have to be a side that makes you so confident on the basics of football, more than anything else. If I'm sending a defender out, then I'd like him to learn and understand the basics of defending, the ABCs so as to say. Obviously, it depends a lot on the ability of the player as well, but my main aim would be learning the basics and of course, getting game time.

Agreed, I guess what is really important is the kind of player/ talent you are dealing with. If you have a technically gifted player, you would prefer that he hones that skill, rather than sending him to a league and or club that would be a perfect mismatch for him.

I guess a lot depends on the ability of the player to adjust to new surroundings as well, especially if we dealing with teenagers, I would never like to throw any of my players in the deep end of the pool and then expect them to swim across.

Thanks!

Exactly, Raghav. For example, I think you guys need to get Chong/ Gomes a loan. You have lots of talent in attack, and it's hard to see them getting enough time on the pitch.

But as attacking players I wouldn't send them to Burnley to play under Dyche. That'd be a total mismatch in my opinion.

A defensive midfielder on the other hand, I'd potentially send him to a defensive manager like that.

There's so many variables really. You need to send a player to a team that's going to help. As others have said the player needs to fit the style. No good sending technical players to a clogging team. Also it needs to be a stable team. No good sending someone to relegation fodder where when it inevitably goes wrong they change managers and your player gets dropped.
