Well team news is mixed, deGea &Pogba out, but ABW and Martial back. Just need McTominay to have a blinder in the middle of the park, my worry is if we play Matic with him l just can't see Matic giving the 110% required, he wants out of the club so won't be bothered in my opinion. But who else do we play, Pereira will give the passion but is limited, Gardner is worth a punt, it's a huge game but we have few options left. So would play 4-4-2 Ramero, Maguire, Lindelof, AWB and Axel, McTominay, Periera, and Rashford left and James right play Gardner or Mata at 10 and Martial up top.

The more we are underdogs, the more it takes me back to the 70’s and 80’s. I expect whoever plays will give everything and it will be a lot closer than people imagine. 1989 with a team including Russell Beardsmore and Ralph Milne I think, beat Liverpool 3-1.

So they have won all their games, we are at home and we can get a result, a result would be a draw but we are more in it than people think.

Red Man, I agree with pretty much most of your posts, but this one I can’t agree with. I don’t see anyway we get anything from this game. I think we’ll be under the cosh from the off and be lucky to keep the score line under 0-2. We don’t score goals so don’t expect to.

Redman i have said the same this week. I've seen crap Liverpool teams beat us when we were dominant and vice versa.
Stand all logic points that way i agree but i'm a fan so occasionally logic doesn't enter my thought process. I never go into any game expecting to lose. On any given day we can win or draw against anybody. We will need everybody to play well and get more than its share of luck but in a derby to a large extent form can go out the window.
One thing we will know for sure and that is if the players are motivated to try their hardest for 90 mins and if it is a cakewalk for Liverpool i would imagine it could be oles lady game in charge. If the breeze past is without us laying a glove on them it will be more damming than most other defeats.

It’s like when City were really poor, always gave us a game. If logic won football matches we wouldn’t have beaten PSG last season and this sorry mess and lack of leadership wouldn’t have happened.

Ken, the longer this goes on the nearer to relegation we get. In a way a fluke draw isn’t enough either to keep him in place.

The difference is that back in the day the poor ckty/ piol/ urd teams we're made up of much less of the highly paid mercenary types and more of the proud to wear the badge types, which meant those big rivalry games had a lot more passion and pride. Not sure how much of that is still around.

Not a single player on our first team would start for Liverpool. Pogba and Martial might be talented enough but they wouldn't give enough to the high press.

Not sure they have shown time and time again that we will lose by a lot though, we have been poor in a few games this season but people are being extremely negative. This Liverpool side can beat anyone on their day so no massive shame losing to them but hopefully they think we are as bad as you lot think we are. We beat chelsea and Leicester at home, not like we have no home points all season.
