Amazing how Chelsea can get a deal done ready for a very talented player at a price which is moderate in today's over inflated transfer market. meanwhile Utd get taken to the cleaners nearly every time. More importantly Ziyech seems to be exactky the type of player we have been crying out for since I don't know when. I know it's a big step up from the Ere Divisie but surely worth a punt. ED 02 probably knows if we had any interest and if so why we couldn't land him but even if there was no interest it still shows poor we are at recruitment.

{Ed002's Note - The agreement with Chelsea shows nothing about Manchester United at all. The club has never been interested in Ziyech. Are you going to say this about every player that moves between other clubs?}

I had a bet with myself that somebody would post this nonsense on here today, I won :)

You seem to do that quite a lot GDS. But is it actually possible to lose a bet with yourself?

Once GDS made a bet with himself that it would be the last bet he made with himself.

To be fair as soon as the news broke of the Ziyech deal I remember thinking how long until someone mentions Chelsea getting a deal done and not us.

The real irony of it is that in January we made TWO signings while Chelsea didn't sign anyone. Bare in mind that was on the back of them not being able to sign anyone last summer either. In theory they have had 6 months to organise a deal or two for January and they only manage to get the deal agreed in the second week of February.

Could you imagine the backlash had that been us. There'd have been planes flying banners, burning effigies, marches and at least two new "United" football club's formed as well as multiple deaths of old ladies across Manchester, worked to death knitting green and gold scarves.

I seen to remember Ed suggested he came with some baggage which might have put other Clubs off maybe?

That’s my worry with trying to sell Lingard in the summer, he comes with a lot of baggage from his new JLingz travel line.

I'm sure a lot of clubs will try to get some business agreed before the euros kick off.

With respect Ed 02 I disagree. Regardless of whether or not you or I rate him as a player or whether Utd wanted him or not the fact is that Chelsea have not paid a huge amount for a talented player. It remains to be seen how good he really is however Chelsea and well run clubs Liverpool seem to focus on who they want, don't always have to pay extortionate fees and don't wait until the last days of a transfer window to sign a player.

{Ed002's Note - How can Chelsea buying a player have any relevance to Manchester United at all. And what makes it easier for Chelsea? They don't have to deal with a toxic fanbase.}

I agree with ken. Most clubs will attempt to get the bulk of their deals done before the Euro's kick off as it is always hard to arrange deals while players are away with their national sides. Afterwards there is always a mad scramble, often confused by players who have been exceptional in the international tournament. I think the euro's this summer is half the reason why clubs voted to push back the summer transfer window.

There's a good interview in FourFourTwo with Poborsky recently about why his United career didn't workout.
He looked a world beater at Euro 96!

Always seemed a nice bloke. Rabbit caught in the headlights look about him. Lovely hair, tho.
