I see a lot of talk in the media about getting football up and running again, I love my football club but honestly if man utd not kicking a ball for the next 6 months means 1 life is saved then I'm good with that. Other leagues have been cancelled, all sports done until September at the earliest. Yet the Premier league and others seem intent on getting the league finished in a short time frame so as to go again on time next year, why? Is this a money issue? , need for entertainment?, placate the masses? I just don't know.

Watching the minutes silence yesterday and the GMB tribute to the fallen NHS workers should make everyone acutely aware that there is a war on, bigger issues are affecting the country and football quite frankly should be low on anyone's agenda right now.

Hope I don't offend with this view, I'm just getting very angry with the pompous view from some sporting bodies and fans and wanted to share my thoughts.

Could not agree more and if ministers give football the green light to resume behind closed doors, then that is a direct kick in the knackers to all the businesses and public, who still have to observe the social distancing ethos.

Agree completely Tim. Football should be the last thing on people’s minds.

Thanks everyone, trust you are all keeping well and will continue to do so. Jrred you are 100% spot on, how can sport be played when the majority of the public can't even leave their homes and children can't have an education. It's ridiculous.

Jrred, not sure how long you have been with us but we also have jred who has been on here for years, your name is so similar I find it a tad confusing, may just be me.

Tony,

He has a different writing style fortunately but the name does seem like a parody.

We are fighting a war and there’s certainly no history of the English playing football during a war. Maybe if it was Christmas Day it would be ok.

I have been posting on the site for years, but not as often as jred.

I will try and add am image to make it easier to distinguish between jred and jrred, hope that helps.

{Ed033's Note - From what i've seen of the archives, jrred started posting in Jan 2020

Jrred great name pal.

I think it would be great for the morale of the country to get some form of footy / sport back .
Not sure it can be done tho.

Hi Ed033, isn't that just the last 5 posts? I know I have posted on here mush earlier than Jan 2020.

{Ed033's Note - No, not the last 5 posts

Its the same over here in Ireland jred.
It would be a massive morale boost to get some sporting events on but its hard to see how that can happen in the short term.
There is such a huge mess to clear up in nearly every walk of life. Our politicians decision makers and leaders can't do right for doing wrong. So many unknowns and when you think you do know something, that can change completely in a matter of days.
Sport without fans is useless imo. i'm not a fan of behind closed door fixtures. Its a real cunundrum.
