So with 3rd place secured and a place in next season's UCL, how does everyone rate our Europa League chances?


We have 10 days until the game with LASK. Then another 5 or 6 days until the quarter final, with another 5 or 6 before the final, then 5 days until the final.

Potentially 4 games in 16 days, the first of which we can definitely afford to rest several players meaning that many of the first 11 could effectively have 16 days off.

That should be plenty of time to get rested and back up to full fitness.

Shaw being out injured will be a big miss. He is the only left footed player who plays down the left flank for us. Williams is right footed, as is Rashford, James and Martial who would play ahead of him. It does make it easier to defend against us on the left as you know both the forward and the full back will look to cut back on their right foot. Meaning you don't have to worry about anyone going round the outside.

On paper us and Inter are the best teams left in the tournament. Which probably puts us as the favourites.

I think this one off game format without other games in between might suit us. We could afford to name our strongest 11 for all the games.

However, that means you are always a silly error away from going out and we are more than capable of a silly error.

Pre season is ruined and so i feel we should take. these matches as prepration for next season, and make sure we reach final for maximum game, rotate as much to rest first 11 and give game time to fringe players.

I’m with rodio. Everything is screwed and our squad is all over the place. Give people, games, concentrate in next season, secure signings, get players fit, anything that happens in the Europa is a bonus.

Maybe Greenwood on the left would be a good option in the absence of Shaw, have someone comfortable with his left foot, and play Rashford on the right. Doubt that would happen of course.

I would go on rest the XI that started yesterday and Shaw a rest. Ask them to not play for us again this season, and play all the other squad members and couple them with garner, Chong and others
Why do we need a Europa League?

Shaw is out for the season unfortunately.
Since we can make 5 subs, It would be easier to get some minutes in for our strongest starting XI and the squad players.
