Ok back to the football at last, how do we go about winning tomorrow?

I think its a pivotal game, not just for our season but maybe for Jose's Utd career. It a game we need to win. A defeat probably means a top 4 finish is beyond us already (we're not even in November) and a draw doesn't help although taken in isolation would not necessarily be a bad result.

I think from a tactical point of view we must shackle Hazard and Jorginho. In my opinion we can't afford either player to have easy possession of the football and simply defend passively with numbers behind the ball. Eventually Chelsea will score and I'm not sure many of us can tolerate another insipid, passive performance, where we just stand, watch and admire the other team playing football around us.

Pressure must be put on Hazard and Jorginho the moment they touch the ball. We must be aggressive and energetic when not in possession.

I'm not sure tomorrow is the right game for our static giants. I think we need energy, movement, pace and intelligence. We also need calmness and composure.

This may raise a few eyebrows but if fit I'd play Matic at CB. Lindelof and Bailly are in terrible form and low on confidence. I'm not sure either can be trusted at the moment. Matic is excellent on the ball and will bring the composure required to allow us to keep better possession of the football and build from the back. I'd play Herrera into midfield and give him the job of shackling Hazard.

I'd play Lingard at 10 and ask him to close down Jorginho the second he receives the ball. Mata is unlucky to miss out especially after his performance against Newcastle but I just think Lingard gives us more energy and intensity for this particular fixture.

Up front I'd partner Martial with Sanchez to give us pace, mobility, movement, creativity and dribbling ability.

In midfield I'd play Pogba and Fred.

4-4-2 (diamond)

De Gea

Dalot Smalling Matic Shaw

Herrera (on Hazard)

Fred Pogba

Lingard (on Jorginho)

Sanchez Martial.

Barca drawing with Valencia, they should sack Valverde.

Psg Lyon is a weird game decent watch though

What's going on with the posts, they're on this page 1 minute, gone the next.

Must applaud mouriniho and his tactical changes. He had no choice mind but they worked a treat, especially mata and moving pogba deeper.

I'd like to see mata get a run of games centrally now. He sees a pass and although he is slower than me his movement is spectacular.

Hard to sum up today truely awful first half with again some poor tactical decisions, at half time the chance for players rumoured to want to see the back of Jose was there to be taken, but that didn't happen and players many believe would like to see Jose gone stepped up and gave it a go and pulled the game around .
Other players get the majority of the focus about not offering much but they showed up today second half and I can't help but feel lukaku and matic get an easy ride compared to others .
Newcastle are a poor side but we showed good spirit to pull the game around and I hope Jose let's in sink in how much better we are when we just have a go and maybe try it before we go behind .

The first half was not the managers fault.

He is at fault for some stuff this season but the players were terrible.

Wow, what a comeback from the lads. 10 minutes in and it looked like game over, brilliant character. Looked like they're still playing for him, turned a corner or delaying the inevitable? Been highly critical of him but Pogba was fantastic today, Matic, McTominay and Young were dreadful dreadful dreadful. Martial very frustrating but forgiven with his goal lol, and Sanchez topped it off with an excellent. Lukaku just doesn't seem to turn up when we need him most, becoming a huge issue now.

So much negativity recently, and rightly so, but feels so good with a win, prevented another weekend from being ruined and actually looking forward to MOTD today.

Anyway, very very tough game coming up after the break vs chelsea (away) which we never tend to do well in. Get a result vs them and the Juventus game will hopefully be a contest instead of a one-sided hammering aided by lack of confidence.

Lukaku doesn't fill me 1ith confidence when playing an important match.

I hope he can improve that side of his game as he is a very good striker but just doesn't show up in the big games.

Well if any game was to show the players were desperate to show they care, that was it. terrible terrible start but to come back in that way and see the attacking intent right until the end just goes to show what we can actually do. BIG BIG praise to mata, martial and pogba who i thought were sensational. 3 players who looked likely to leave but they were sensational. Shaw again great. Yes mourinho may not be the right manager in the long haul, but he's been given a lot more stick than other managers. Its only right he gets some praise for this too. He deserves that. Hopefully this is a turning point. I was literally in tears after the 3rd goal, the passion from the fans and the players second to none. GGMU.

Putting the downers on straight away but Chelsea, Juve twice, Everton, Bournemouth and City in our next 6 matches.
Fantastic fantastic result in the end today but what happened at the start was again a farce.
Are we going to start these games with pogba matic and smalling as our back 3, I don't think it likely.
Mata for me has to play whatever we go with, I questioned today on here why he was not in the team this season and how he may be the key to unlocking Sanchez, Mata is a fantastic little player and is signifies all that is good about a footballer for me, had a big smile on my face watching his interview after.
I am a backer of Mourinho. I have been however I am fed up of him playing 2 big slow defensive midfielders.
It is clear now we need to play 3 at the back, imo for 3 reasons, a) the rbs we have are not good enough to play fb, b) any pairing of our 2 cbs are not good enough, c) if we don't play with 3 at the back we need to play 2 of these big lumbering dms.
Who do we play. I'm afraid rather than what we seen in the 2nd half tonight we will see Matic/ Mctominay in midfield again and Mata once more on the bench.
I had started to wonder if we had the quality but the 2nd half proves we do so although I've been in Joses corner and still am if we go back to this nonsense my patience will not last Much longer.
