We won and there are hardly any posts at all. It wasn’t a great game but I can’t help feeling many we’re sharpening their pencils ready for a draw or a defeat and a win didn’t fit their narrative.

Maguire was Mende, McTominay matures with every game, James is young and rough around the edges but still shows great potential, DDG looked solid again. All positives. Up front we were light, Rashford started well but faded, and as know there is a lack of creativity.

We were missing Martial, Pogba, and Shaw but looked ok. Not sure why Greenwood isn’t getting on as he looked hot in pre season but hopefully he will get his chance. Personally, right now I’d have Garner ahead of Fred, let’s see if the boy can step up, look at Chelsea, their results will be up and down but that team yesterday was very very young and who knows how they might develop. Ole should take the plunge and play a couple more.

I would say there are a few boys today, sitting with cramped fingers. All that hovering over the keyboard 😁.

I'm not sure which depresses me more: seeing Ashley Young starting in an advanced role or Ashley Young starting in a defensive role. Both are portents of doom.

I hope we don't concede in the second half as always. Because if we do, we will loose.

14 Sep 2019 20:10:21
And yet he played well, fancy.

14 Sep 2019 14:24:13
Think we are up against it today - will be surprised to see us get anything more than a point.

The team is paper thin and OGS is very rapidly losing his reputation for giving youth a chance.

Surprise!

15 Sep 2019 05:29:49
Pleased we won but in reference to Fresh points, Chong got 20 mins, Tuanzebe came on in injury time. Greenwood zero. Hardly giving youth a chance.

15 Sep 2019 09:24:57
There will be plenty of games this season for the academy players to get playing time. Maybe Ole wants to bed them in gently, rather than throw them in at the deep end. It's him after all, that sees them on the training ground every day, and knows best if they're ready or not, not us sitting here playing guessing games on a social media site. We got a hard-fought win against a good Leicester side, and people are complaining that Chong only got 20 minutes. Did you see how many times he gave the ball away in those 20 minutes? Would you have had Tuanzebe in from the start instead of Maguire or Lindelof?

Ole shouldn’t big up Greenwood so much if he hasn’t got the cohones to play him. I believe he sold Lukaku because of Greenwood didn’t he? Then I would rather give Garner a game than Pereira. Gomes should be getting minutes or wave him goodbye at the end of the season. Ole talks a good game about youth but is reticent to use them.

15 Sep 2019 16:52:48
After how many games? Seriously? There's plenty of time left for goodness sake. Especially now the Europa league games are starting. And what's wrong with filling a young lad with a bit of confidence? When he does give him his head, at least he'll know how highly his manager rates him.

And you would rather give Garner a game than Pereira? Watched much of Garner? I think the young lad has a great future, probably our best prospect, but I'd say the coaching team who watch him every day, and analyse his training and match performances, probably know better than me if he's ready to start first-team games.

Jesus Christ, I thought OLE was going to give youth a chance. Mata and Matic, where are Greenwood and Garner or Chong and Gomes?

Mate, everyone is entitled to be sarcastic.

Now that's not what I really said is it?

I think Mighty Red more than deserves a bit back. 😀.

Not read any posts below cz guess they are negative, the overreaction every game is silly, surely to god we did not expect Ole to come in, bring in every player he wants, rid of which he wants, win every game playing champagne football and be winning the league.
Hes bought well, he's sold well, he's playing youth, better football, it's his first window, itll take time and patience but things we said we wanted to see we are seeing, we will be inconsistent, is how we are at the mo we've got to be realistic.
Yes we would have liked a Fernandes or someone extra bit we have what we have and we buy again in jan or the summer, in the meantime arsenal, Chelsea and spurs look equally as inconsistent so let's get behind the club and not be too critical or overreact at dropped points, results will come wether that's immediately or not, this is a process Ole needs to be allowed to complete unless we want yet more instability, not what we need at all.

Why is it an overreaction people have the right to be peed off with what's going on results wise.

31 Aug 2019 22:07:06
Why, are you expecting us to be top of the league winning 5-0 every week, we are a 4th-6th side atm just starting to shape the squad, we will have more results like this.
Do you not see the changes since we all moaned about jose style, peed off at every dropped point is just energy sapping for everyone, let the season pan out and then let another window happen and let another season pan out, then we can perhaps be annoyed if things are going nowhere.

31 Aug 2019 22:34:19
It's gone on too long this now nobody expects to be winning 5-0 everything but the last 2 teams we should be it's just looking like the same s@@t different year. we have improved the quick passing and pressing in a way but if we don't put the chances away or keep drawing and losing its not good. the results over the say last 18 games have been awful just my opinion I just don't see where we go from here.

01 Sep 2019 12:39:33
I agree we need to be more clinical and learn to finish teams off not let them back in but inconsistent performances are likely, same rubbish atm but this Ole first year, what we going to do sack and replace again, he's started something let him show us wheres he's finishing it, early days in terms of his tenure. Yes results over the last 18 are poor but they prob will continue to be while we learn to be more ruthless and steely, extra additions are needed but that'll happen over time too.

31 Aug 2019 19:52:44
Positive from today James and Maguire again, Pogba yet again caught in possession way too much, still feel if we get a creative midfielder and a defensive one to play with McTominay after we get rid of Pogba we will be in good shape going forward.

Here's a challenge for you shappy and dilb😂.
Write a 67 paragraph post providing an astute tactical analysis of that performance and the positives we should take from it.
What do you think was in the managers mind when he brought matic on or waited until 80 mins to bring greenwood on?

When your in trouble and you look at your bench a kid is not the answer. managers make changes if they have game changers on bench 10 minutes for a kid is desperation. that's why it's so late ole dosnt think he's good enough no matter what the fans think.

31 Aug 2019 17:27:37
I don't think you need to be too astute to see what happened in the game today.

Too many players had a poor day. We haven't got a great side full of match winners, so when the ones we do have don't perform then we will always look a little flat.

I think bringing Matic was an attempt to get back control of the midfield. Unfortunately in doing so we sacrificed a forward player moments before Southampton got reduced to 10 men.

We are all clamouring for Greenwood, yet we still have to appreciate he is 17 years old. He needs easing into first team football and not the player the whole club (fans, players and management) are hanging on to win us games. At least not yet.

The fact remains that most of us felt this squad is lacking in many areas and hasn't been reinforced to a sufficient level. Hardly surprising then that we are struggling to compete.

It also looks like the players are feeling the pressure, they didn't look happy, relaxed or confident out there today.

Unfortunately at our club one or two below par performances/ results brings a huge magnifying glass on to the club and the players.

We are always one loss away from disaster. We drew today and already I am seeing fans talk about relegation.

Shappy

We are starting to look like we are in a tail spin. Our present manager presided over a relegation previously did he not?

I don’t think we will, but if the manager cannot inspire the players at the beginning of the season, how is he going to pull us out of a dive?

31 Aug 2019 20:03:05
Klopp has a relegation on his CV too, unlike Ole he was the manager at the start of the season Mainz got relegated. So that is entirely on him unlike Ole who took over a free falling Cardiff side. That's not to say Ole is anywhere near as good as Klopp, just that a relegation on a managers CV isn't necessarily a sign they aren't able to become a top level manager.

I think we are seeing several issues play out.

The lack of a direction or footballing plan is clearly at the centre of it.

We lost a lot of experience in the side this summer, Herrera 30, Darmian 29, Smalling 29, Sanchez 30 even Lukaku at 27 was one of our more experienced players.

Who do we have in the squad now who is 27+?

DDG, Romero, Grant, Jones, Rojo, Matic and Mata. That's it. Then when you consider that DDG could leave at the end of the season, the club will happily sell Rojo, Jones and Matic if they get good enough offers. Then you can see there is a lack of experience.

When your best option off the bench is a 17 year old you can see where the problems are.

We needed to bring in a couple more in the summer.

Is sacking Ole the answer? Not yet. For one thing who could we bring in better mid-season? Would anyone else be able to make these young players have experience? No of course not, that takes time.

We have a first 11 capable of competing with all bar the top two teams. However, the lack of depth in quality and experience will mean we will be wildly inconsistent and I don't think another manager would make a huge difference.

How many players.

Shappy

We needed to bring couple more in the summer? Really? I recall you writing 200 paragraph about how it is alright signing no one and now you want to be positive just for the sake of it?

Didnt you even brought the whole starting eleven thing and said you didn't understand why we wanted more signings?

The lack of signings and strengthening will cost the club and the manager this season and you all positive brand who didn't care less about signing players will jump on the bandwagon of how this is transition phase and will take time.
