Our strongest starting 11 for Inter match.
Incredible pace in the attack and FB positions.
Let's see how we can shackle Skriniar-Godin duo.

Interesting first half in the first pre season game.

Dan James was the brightest spark until he switched to the right, at which point his impact faded slightly. Conversely Chong was almost completely anonymous until he switch over to the left.
Interesting as I think it shows the team aren't used to attacking down the right, and there is no rhythm or flow to our attacks down that side. Dalot was the only real attacking threat, coming in as part of the second line of attack.

Matic was lethargic in midfield, looked like he was playing in lead boots at times, he had one nice touch to set Lingard away, other than that he gave the ball away a lot, and didn't do much from a defensive point of view (although to be fair Perth Glory have hardly had a touch in our defensive third bar the odd break away) .

Tuanzebe looks to have really filled out. There was an interesting stat about Romero, 27 clean sheets in 45 appearances for us is a great return for a second choice.

Young was decent down the left, but lacked cutting edge.

Martial was disappointing upfront, given a chance to lay down a marker and lacked movement. Which is a real problem if he is to play as a sole striker. He either needs to play left of a front three or as one of a strike partnership.

Andreas Pereira was good, in midfield. Hopefully he can push on this season.

Although all of this has to be taken with a pinch of salt as its the first pre season game and Perth Glory aren't the best of opposition. They have mostly sat deep and allowed up to press them high.

We need more invention and creation against packed defences. Whole new 11 for the second half.

Good second half, hard to tell if the movement was better or whether Perth tired.

Nice finish on the turn with his weaker foot from Rashford, and nice hit from Garner for the second.

Pogba had his usual game, tried the pretty stuff, shied away from the stuff that doesn't look as good on a highlight reel.

McTominay was solid.

The defence was untested. AWB was a brick wall that no one could get past.

Greenwood, and Gomes looked lively and both seemed to have more impact than Chong did in the first half.

There is a clear unbalance to our play, heavily favouring the left hand side and playing very little down the right regardless of who plays there. although I though Greenwood had more impact down the right than either Chong or James did first half.

2-0, a good run out and hopefully no injuries (hopefully Shaw came off as a precaution) .

Leeds will be a much bigger test and will give us a better bearing on where this side is right now.

{Ed004's Note - I agree with most of what you said apart from Pogba. He put in a solid display both offensively and defensively. Was disappointed with Shaw as he looked sluggish but hoping thats fatigue. Very impressed with Wan Bissaka, Tuanzebe, Greenwood, Gomes and James tonight. Rashford also had a very good game. I think its clear why Ole prefers him to Lukaku as our main striker.}

It gets into club DNA that we play through left only. James on left lively. chong isolated.
Ching on left very lively and james on right isolated.
We first need to open vision of our midfielders that there is actually right hand side of pitch that also available to play and it's not a crime to go right.

That's summery of first half will see what changes for second.

Interesting line up for the game against Perth Glory.

Romero, Dalot, Tuanzebe, Jones, Young, Matic, Andreas Pereira, Chong, Lingard, James, Martial.

Looks like a 4231. Obviously just a game for fitness, but it's interesting to see Andreas Pereira playing as a holding midfield. James on the left and Martial being given a run as a striker. I expect loads of subs at half time. Andreas could be playing deep due to lack of numbers in holding midfield. Although Martial being given a run as a striker could be due to the likelihood that Lukaku will leave.

Potential line up next season could be:

Henderson, AWB, Tuanzebe, Lindelof, Shaw, Longstaff, McTominay, Maddison, Lingard, Rashford, James.

8 Englishmen, 1 Scotsman, 1 Welshman and 1 Swede.

A very British core to this potential squad. And that's not including Jones, Smalling, Young, Laird, Garner, Lovett, Gomes and Greenwood.

Longstaff and Maddison don’t play for us shappy? I thought you’d know that 😊.

Now we can add Maguire.

Understandably people are looking at the transfer window and thinking we are going to at least solve some problems but looking At previous signings going back to 2016/ 17:

Bailly - tough one as he started so well but has regressed and shown his rash tendencies - 50/ 50

Mkhitaryan - Failure

Ibrahimovic - Success

Pogba - most creative player by a mile, questions about work rate but production has been there - 50/ 50

Lindelof - still don't know if he's physically up to it and seems to reluctant to show off his ball playing abilities - 50/ 50

Matic - failure

Lukaku - Failure

Sanchez - Abject failure

Fred - Abject failure

Dalot - questions over defensive abilities, good going forwards - 50/ 50

Lee Grant - Raving success, what a fine gentleman.

So 10 signings (discounting lee grant) in the last 3 windows, one can be considered a success, 4 are questionable and 5 are clear failures/ flops.

Anyone disagree with this judgment?

What makes people think this is suddenly going to change? Just the fact ole and mike phelan are at the wheel.

DSG with respect, it’s been made clear that the decision to buy players will not rest with Ole and/ or Phelan.

After game #1 both James and AWB look to be solid buys who will likely improve and improve us. Whoever’s decision it was to buy them.

My team for next season would be
Donnarumma
Roberto. De Ligt Lindelof Shaw
Rabiot. Kroos
Bale. Havertz. Rashford
Icardi
Cost of I’d say 250m but selling pogba for 60m and getting kroos permanent in exchange and bale on a 2 year loan deal and selling ddg for 50m and Bailly for 30m will enable all this to happen.

If it was that easy, my team for next season would be Manchester city's.

Stop smoking weed 83, your mind is shot.

14 May 2019 20:26:30
My personal opinion. If i could i'd sign Maguire, Wan-Bissaka, Fernandes, Sancho, Maddison and Jovic but probably end up with Mendez-Laing.
