We didn't get relegated we finished 3rd, lots of positives to take from the season .
A definite step in the right direction.

I think relief is my overriding emotion right now. From where this team was in December and January to now is a credit to ole and can only be viewed as a relative success (possible EL win also) . Yes it's not the titles we fans crave or where the club feels it belongs, it is though a step in the right direction. We finished 2nd under Jose but this feels different and hasn't been accompanied with the toxicity and atmosphere that Jose brought. We are playing more the style us fans love and in players like Bruno, rashford, Greenwood we have role models for our kids to admire. The pressure is now on Ed to bring in the right character and quality to improve the squad and help us kick on again.

It's been a long season for everyone so may I just say thanks to everyone on here, it's a great site to be part of. We may not always agree but we have the love of the club at heart.

Hope everyone can relax and enjoy their holidays now and come back ready to do it all again in September.

Well done to the lads and everyone at utd. We weren't great but these games happens and being able to grind results is part of developing character. Want to give a shoutout to Lindelof who i thought was exceptional. Also a lot of have given stick to Lingard for the past 18 months but he is a utd boy though and through and i'm glad his final game for utd in the prem ends with a goal. Good luck to him. We move onto focusing on the europa league.

Have a blessed one everyone and stay safe!

If I'm honest wouldn't be too disappointed considering where we were at the turn of the year.

Don't know if Rashford is carrying an injury or is tired but he has been poor these last 3 games, hope he proves me wrong.

As much as I hate to say Shappy told you so, we needed to rotate more. Multiple people on this site are saying that our players being tired isn't a valid excuse for the recent performances, as the other teams have had just as many games. But the fact that we haven't rotated is exactly why it's a valid excuse for being exhausted. Only two subs used today. The league has given us 5 subs for a reason. The fact that every player has been poor over the past few games is clearly because they have fatigue. I think we shouldn't be so quick to slag off our players like we love to. We have to question the lack of rotation, with both team selection and substitutions. I hope momentum carries us through at Leicester.

the lack of quality on the bench to rotate to,

have you noticed in the games prior to the Southampton draw we used 5 subs

when we were in a position to be able to rotate in the games.

we don't have decent 2nd choice players in the positions we really needed to rotate.

imagine ole put fred perrera and lingard inm from the start you lot on here would be calling for his head.

we have just played 4 games in about 9 days. hopefully we can get over the line then we have a nice rest before the QF of the Europa as we are surely through being 5-0 up

but anything can happen in football and we might not even need to get any points sunday.

{Ed001's Note - but he could have put Fred in for one game, Perreira in for another and Lingard in for the third. There are more ways to rotate than just changing every player at once. You can do it gradually, rest one player here, one player there.}

Ed001, this is what I have been saying for over three weeks.

Making wholesale changes disrupts momentum, and players don't have time to work on their teamwork and communication.

All Ole had to do was change two or three players in different areas of the pitch in each game over the past 4 games and our players wouldn't be shattered. Also our squad players would have played some minutes and wouldn't be rusty and be match sharp.

In hindsight maybe that is why Ole goes on long unbeaten runs then struggles. While his first choice are fit and playing the goings good. But a lack of rotation during that time means players get fatigued and pick up injuries ruling them out for long periods. At which point the squad players have hardly played in a couple of months and are lacking match sharpness and confidence. As such the performance levels drop and we struggle for results.

{Ed001's Note - that used to happen at Liverpool under Rafa, for all he got criticised for rotating players, he had a core that were good enough and the fringe players never got any football. They would come in and the team would be disrupted. That was because of a lack of reserve team football, as none of the first team squad took part then. It is similar now I would think, if they don't get regular run outs they just lose sharpness and then struggle when called upon. Fergie was one of the best at rotation to make sure everyone was ready when needed.}

I completely agree with that and the general perception is rotation means making 5 or 6 changes to the starting 11.

I think the really skilled managers make 2 or 3 changes without disrupting the balance or rhythm of the team and with 5 substitutions available this shouldn't have been a problem.

I think that's a pretty perceptive observation Shappy during Ole's initial run he made very few changes to the starting 11 but then we were besieged by injury and by the end the players looked shattered and the wheel fell off. It's an area of Ole's management where he can definitely learn and improve.

Maybe he needs more players that he can trust but even Fred and Mctominay have been short of game time and have looked a bit rusty when given the chance which could be a consequence of not playing enough minutes.
