First off, nice to finally get a win in yesterday. If we can get a couple signings we can hopefully push on. As a couple have mentioned below a CB is needed urgently.

Just thought I'd ask if anyone has done the Old Trafford Tour? I went a few days back and have to say it was a great experience! You get a different feel for the stadium when it's not match day and it was amazing the amount of memorabilia and history they have on show. My favourite part had to be the walk out of the players tunnel and then soaking everything in that the museum had to offer. They really do capture every bit of the clubs history. Was nice to grab a pint at the Red Cafe after too.

It's super isn't it. I actual had the privilege of bumping into Sir Bobby in the lift a number of years ago.

I did the stadium tour about 5 years ago and well worth it, I also enjoyed walking out the tunnel. However they missed a trick for me. When I did the Nou Camp tour they played the Barcelona anthem as you exited the tunnel and it gave a real buzz, I don't know whether United have adopted it but hadn't when I did the tour. I also enjoyed standing in the dugout. Highly recommend the Nou Camp tour as well if you get chance.

Done the standard tour was looking at the legends tour.

Very lucky Fresh!
I just missed Rojo at the megastore.
Red man - they play a small announcement over the speakers with some fan noise as well, so you get a bit of feel for it. Definitely was nice to sit in the dugout in Mr LVGs chair. Also, all at a very reasonable price.
I was very close to heading out to Barce to watch the derby and doing the Nou Camp tour this weekend. Would love to do that some time.

That sounds new, so maybe it has changed. At OT the dressing room seems old fashioned and not that big. The players lounge was strangely small and just not in fitting with the stadium. At the Nou Camp they didn't allow us into the home dressing room, only the away and it was huge but very basic. Definitely recommend trying both tours.

Sorry, I should have added this to my earlier post. I know ed002 has said LVG will see out his contract here but ed001 has said that LVG is running the risk of losing the confidence of the board as well as the players (something like that I believe) . Walking a tight rope.
So ed001 what do you feel wil happen? Will our board back him or do you believe that they will act now? There was just something about today that feels very much like the Moyes era.

433

{Ed001's Note - it really depends on results and attendances. If results carry on as they are, he won't have more than a couple of games left. He is certainly fighting for his job right now. If results improve but attendances fall, then they will move him on anyway. He has made so many enemies behind the scenes that it is only about how long he can hold on, rather than him being safe.}

Ed001

I think we haven't won in 6 games, Knocked out of the UCL, Back to back losses to teams at the bottom, Out of the top 4 and playing poor football which is pedestrian and is completely anti man united spirit and the fans at Old Trafford are booing the manager, something never seen before.

I don't know what more the board is waiting for. Yesterday was too much for me. I was all for givibg him time, but he wasn't even bothered to get on the touchline, Giggs was doing it for him and it was almost as if he had resigned himself to a loss in the last 15 minutes and that showed in the players as well.

{Ed001's Note - nor me, though having a full stadium makes it easier for them to wait. It is not affecting them financially.}

2.) 20 Dec 2015 07:14:32
Ed001

I think going of the UCL and being out of the top 4 is financial damage enough. And with the likes of Jose and Pep available I really don't see what they are waiting for.

{Ed001's Note - if you drop away from the top 4, then yes he will be gone. Though I have a feeling he has already accepted that his time has come judging by his post match comments and body language. He looks ready to hand in his notice to me. I would not be surprised if a 'mutual' agreement happened this week. There is just a real draining of the supreme self-confidence that normally powers him through.}

3.) 20 Dec 2015 07:31:48
If it looks like we might miss out on the CL, that will affect them financially, though? I don't see us finishing top 4 with LVG.

{Ed001's Note - yes, he would not survive if the club finished outside the top 4, that is his target for the season.}

4.) 20 Dec 2015 10:13:49
Thanks Ed001. I agree about the body language - LVG looks like a dead man walking after Norwich. I don't agree at all with fans singing 'Mourinho' at OT, but if something like that happens you must suspect your time is nigh.

5.) 20 Dec 2015 12:25:45
The similarities to his time at Bayern apart from him winning titles there is crazy. If he is to leave I really don't know what our next step will be.

I think LVGs tone and his words after the match today were quite telling. He has been honest and said he told the players a change in management will not resolve this crisis. Maybe so. I know the eds have stressed that he won't be going anywhere but the pressure from the media and the fans is definitely starting to have an effect. I'm sure he would have been spoken to and he himself has said if he loses the players confidence and belief in his philosophy he will walk. That is very much what we are witnessing on the pitch as well as shocking performances all round.
The players need to take ownership also. Schweinsteiger reacting stupidly and being banned 3 matches doesn't help, nothing seems to be coming off for Carrick, Mata hasn't pulled his weight and Rooney has been terrible. These are the guys that need to pull the youngsters through. LVG will looking at these guys and know he has been let down. We have hardly seen Giggs on the touchline like we did today and just maybe it signals he's lost the faith also. He obviously cannot believe what he is witnessing week in week out. I don't want Manchester United to become like every other club and sack our managers but we have seen plenty of times in the past that a change can lift the spirits of the team and their performances. You also risk having the opposite effect. Football is a funny world and I wouldn't be surprised to see Mourinho appointed. He's not everyone's first choice but love him or hate him he is a winner and that is what our club needs. LVG looked depressed almost after this defeat and it is a mirror image of what happened at Bayern before he left. I really don't know what the board will do but if they stick with him I will not be surprised one bit. It is not in our ethos to make these sorts of decisions but in modern day football it is a normal thing and if we do relieve LVG of his duties it will also signal a change in the way we operate as a club. We as fans have given these players all the support they need. LVG or no LVG it's time they pulled their socks up and show they deserve to play for this very special club. Watching this almost breaks my heart and I hope we can turn this around.

1.) 20 Dec 2015 03:05:52
I am not sure why people keep saying they hope we can turn things around. What we are seeing is a clear style of play that has been established by this manager and there is a consistency in terms of results. Nothing will change until he goes and it will get from bad to worse.

I pray the club don't give him any money in jan if he is staying as he is clearly well past his sell by date and his philosophy is utter sh. t. It is clear we should have been addressing other areas of the pitch in terms of new players and should have hung onto a few we let go.

He can say all he wants, its his players, his team and his philosophy and it is useless and more suited to a second tier European league and smaller club.

2.) 20 Dec 2015 06:19:35
That's my worry gcu. Give lvg another £100m in January and he'll waste the lot.
We need a change of direction as the club, the players and the fans seem to be lacking in confidence and any sort of belief.
United are no different to any other club from the point of appointing managers. If it ain't working then change it. Change is not the bad option, but sticking with something that clearly is not working, is the bad option.

3.) 20 Dec 2015 08:57:10
Schmidfield

I am really bewildered how a club like United even at a period like this has become a soft target for bottom of the league clubs. I know we are not CL championship material but to lose to the teams we are losing and struggle week in week out is beyond absurd and the fault lies with the captain of the ship.

What is going on is unforgivable and what is even more worrying is he is doing the same thing week in week out and completely indifferent to the fact that it is not working. Most managers would try different formations or something/anything but he send out the same team pretty much every week injuries in mind expecting a different outcome.

4231, two holding midfielders and misfiring striker in Rooney who can't sniff a goal at the moment and a style of play that everyone seems to be comfortable against when defending. I hope he has enough dignity to just mutually agree to go as i actually like him as a person and find him quite amusing but not as our manager.

After every game I keep saying to myself that the next one we will get our act to gather but things are going from bad to worse. These last few games are the ones we are suppose to win as there are much tougher games ahead against better teams in the remaining schedule.
It is worrying when you think about the games ahead and where we will get points.

We have seen this happen to big clubs due to financial reasons and having to have a fire sale of key players ( AC Milan, Inter, Valencia) etc etc but in our case we have not had those issue and if anything have spend unbelievable sums of money.

We sacked Moyes for finishing 7th with a very old squad coming to the end of its tenure and very little money spent and we played better imo. He needs to go or completely change his approach and philosophy.

Well in my last post I said enjoy the ride lads and it was some ride although we came crashing down right at the end! It felt like my heart was being kicked around on the pitch and not the ball! As plenty of people have said, we didn't get knocked out because of last nights result but our overall performances in the 6 games. You could point to the other games and say well why didn't we attack like we did last night? Our defence is horrendous, that's why. I mentioned this before and so has someone else below but it is clear to see why we are playing two holding cm's. I also don't understand why blame is being pinned on Smalling. He cannot lead the defence by himself and he needs a proper partner. He hasn't missed one game so I for one can only appreciate what he has done for us this season to date. Our biggest worry is moving forward. Injuries all over the place and only youngsters to rely on. I don't know how LVG can get these players on the same wave length as him. He has to play two holding cm's but he should have invested in the defence. We were crying out for a natural goal scorer and he pinned our hopes on an amazing teenager who will come good in the future. It will be very interesting to see how the players react and how our form is over the Christmas period. It really is make or break now. I fear the worst but will still support the lads. The manager has put himself in a position where he has to invest in January which is very difficult and by the time we get to summer we could be out of the top 4. I just hope we can pull together and get through this. A depressed United fan who doesn't know what's around the corner. We may well learn where our boards intentions lie also (I think we all know)

Interesting to read on Sly Sports that in only one of the next 15 games do we play an opponent in the current top 6 - Arsenal. You can throw Chelsea and Pool in there too I guess. As so many have mentioned on here, if the manager decides to take the shackles off, we could become a clear contender for the title. I say clear because as close as we are to top we are also a couple of bad results away from dropping out the top 4. I don't truly believe he is confident in our back 4 apart from Smalling which is why he persists in playing 2 holding midfielders. You can see it in the game actually, only Smalling really has any confidence when defending. If he just changed one of their roles to allow them to support the attack more frequently we may just see some of these draws turn in to results. The team is trying, but you can see a clear lack of confidence when attempting a risky pass. If it is misplaced then they have to hear groans from the fans as well as the manager. I don't believe LVG will be sacked even if we exit the CL. However, if we do exit the CL, I can see this group of players losing any confidence they do have in the manager. This may well signal the end for him and I can see him stepping down. I know the ed has mentioned he will see out his contract but that is just my gut feeling. Maybe after Jan? On the other hand we could win on Tuesday and our whole season could change? Who knows!? We might just batter Wolfsburg 3 nil! Enjoy the ride lads.

Gonna be the agony and the ecstasy tomorrow. Ninety minutes of gloriously unbearable tension.

2.) 07 Dec 2015 17:43:34
or 90 minutes of boring and uneventful football and we go out with on a wimper. If i was betting i would bet that outcome :)

3.) 07 Dec 2015 18:13:32
I am one who remembers January 1990 and that game at Forrest was one we all feared. History shows Mark Robins won it and it was totally unexpected, we anticipated a stuffing.

My point is most, like in 1990, expect us to lose at Wolfsberg but let's hope for a bit of United spirit and a turning point as it was in 1990. If it isn't then the Board need to look at the plan they have and make sure it is the right one.

4.) 07 Dec 2015 20:28:04
I just hope we show fight and spirit tomorrow night. The squad doesn't look too good tomorrow and we will really need our under performers to step up. It could be a massive night for the likes of Memphis and Mata. I think we have more of a chance if we sit back and concede possession. We have the players to play on the counter. I just don't see LVG doing that.

5.) 08 Dec 2015 01:35:16
Well, I'll be at the match tomorrow, and I'm hoping for a cracker of a game. and a win. it'll definitely make the 6 hour drive worth it.
jomo.

6.) 08 Dec 2015 09:06:05
Enjoy jomo, let's hope we get the win, it could really make or break our season.

I don't believe we are willing to pay the asking price which is supposed to be around £35m. If that is the case then we are doing well to pull out of such a deal. Really not worth that much.

Agree Imightbe. I'm certain LVG wanted Ramos or Hummels as first choice due to them being so comfortable on the ball. I don't believe we will pay up for Otamendi and will let City take him.

Guardiola for me. I'm currently reading his auto biography. Great read. It has also made me appreciate that much more what he did at Barcelona. He took over a squad which was all over the place and had the balls to do what he needed to do. Tactically he is up there with the best. Not to mention, he is the perfect man to take over from an LVG system.
