Just a general query but from the last shakopod (which so far is proving bang on with Lindelof and Lukaku) it's easy to see which players are no longer available or applicable (greizemann) but are there any players that weren't featured that now are of interest? Or do you see any further incoming players coming solely from that shortlist?

AirforceRed

{Ed002's Note - Generally not. Jose Mourinho had a clear idea of what and who he wanted and knew there would be some variables in there - and still are. For instance, if DDG were to look to leave they would be pressing very hard to get a goalkeeper in place before the sale - and buying high-end goalkeepers is very difficult and right now Atletico are not going to look to selling Oblak (although another side are pressing them), Donnarumma, Begovic and Ederson are no longer options so I am sure that there is an idea or two still lurking in the back of his mind - so that may well be one postion where we see a wildcard come up. A right back is still wanted but this is one I think will drag out - much would depend on Fabinho being signed and how he would be used - but the number one choice is still Nelson Semedo. Again the LB situtation is still unresolved but I think now you can strike Ryan Sessegnon off the list. Defensive midfield - he wants someone and could end up using Fabinho if he signs. Again a possible wildcard may pop up. Midfield - I still expect someone to be added. Perisic should soon be addressed.}

1.) 09 Jul 2017 10:40:01
What do you mean about Perisic should be addressed soon ed002, are we close to signing him or is he off somewhere else.
As for Fabinho I would love him to come to United, can cover a few Positions for us.

Is there any chance Darmian could be sold to one of the Italian teams as well Ed002.

{Ed002's Note - I have explained over an d over about Periseic for months and there is no measure of "close". I have explained also about Darmian. Try the search engine or read the posts.}

2.) 09 Jul 2017 10:54:16
Quick question for you ED002 if you had time. I realise it's likely to have been addressed in that last sentence but in reading the lengthy discussion on the liverpool page in regards to Keita. On that post you mentioned that RB Leipzig had been approached by an English side over one of their players. Previously one of the Eds mentioned that Manchester held an interest in Forsberg, I was wondering if that was the english club making that enquiry or am I just putting 2 and 2 together to make 5.

Also thanks for all your work on the site, particularly during the transfer market.

{Ed002's Note - It is unimportant about the approach - the move is almost certainly not going to happen.}

3.) 09 Jul 2017 10:57:06
Cheers Ed002, found what i needed to know.

4.) 09 Jul 2017 11:26:06
Thanks ed.

Couldn’t agree more AJH everything you said I said something similar last week. It’s not just about winning. The man truly is a narcissist. Digging out players after every defeat, unless your matic lukaku or Sanchez. Taking credit for victories and even performances in shaws case. The choice of Mctominay as player of the year just to push his own agenda of he picks youth. He disappeared down the tunnel after the last away on Thursday night without the slightest acknowledgement of the fans. Today was similar, no wave of acknowledgement, no lap from him. He didn’t even give a speech. First Rome I can remember a united manager not doing that. It’s probably not going to happen but I can’t be the only one hoping that PSG come in for him over the summer.
He doesn’t get united and Sir Bobby was right in 2013. He’s a good manager but he’s not a united manager. Style of play, the narky personality, it’s all just adding up to a horror show. If we stick with him we could be in a mess that will take us years to get out of.

1.) 14 May 2018 06:01:49
I’ve read the replies to my post down th page and most seem to focus on the style of play. Whilst this is an issue for me the bigger problem is the attitude and manner of the man. Have we really come to this? Winning is all that matters irrespective of the playing style, the negativity, the bullying of players, the crass comments?

Park, I want to win again but not at all costs. We are better than that.

2.) 14 May 2018 06:36:30
He didn’t give a speech, oh no. Maybe his standards are that second is first loser and up and at them speeches mean little, especially to players some of whom need changing

So many posts of the equivalent of “Two years of excuses Tara Jose”. Only problem is two trophies last season and big improvement in league position plus a cup final again this. Have we become a set of stamp our feet manager out mob? Is that the new generation want it now and don’t want to work for it?

3.) 14 May 2018 07:47:41
Redman come on you wanted moyes out before a ball had been kicked .
You stamped your feet and wanted lvg out.

4.) 14 May 2018 07:52:00
airforcered, "If we stick with him we could be in a mess that will take us years to get out of. "

As opposed to?

What he has brought is trophies and a better winning mentality. What his predecessors brought was limited players who were happy just to play for us. They did not expect to win, Jose does and I love that.

5.) 14 May 2018 09:39:03
Bang on 12 days.
the club means different things to different people.
Ajh you have your views we read them nearly daily which is great. I respect them but don't agree with them because supporting the club means something different to me than it does to you. We are the same generation but just have different views.

6.) 14 May 2018 10:27:33
Fair enough Tony I think we will have to agree to disagree on this! I’m not saying sacrificing style completely but imo you cannot sack the manager when there has been improvements. Yes the style is woeful and I agree with that. We were in disarray when he joined and fast forward 2 years we are in a far better position. At least give the guy credit for that. I am neither Jose in or Jose out. He winds me up to no end with his narcissistic comments but he deserves another season. I know majority on here disagree with me but we cannot keep sacking managers. I seem to remember after the city game and the Tottenham semi that majority of fans were positive. Then a few bad results and it’s the end of the world. Why does there have to be 2 extremes? Why can’t we be objective when assessing the situation instead of discrediting the manager because of his character. Yes Liverpool and city play great football but I seem to remember many fans on here slagging off klopp’s Ability as a manager. And now he’s the best thing since sliced bread. Btw I have always been a fan of Klopp and wanted him to replace Fergie over pep or Jose. Winning is important to me. For me you play to win. Style is very important and we should not sacrifice it. But sometimes there has to be a compromise. If Jose is still serving up this rubbish this time next year and not winning the big trophies then he needs to go. But I believe he deserves to see out his 3 years. I really get where you are coming from but sacking him is not going to suddenly make everything hunky dory.

7.) 14 May 2018 11:09:45
Where city right to get rid of Pellegrini or Madrid sacked at Madrid after getting there highest ever points total .
Just a simple yes no?

Lvg at United as well finished joint 4th and won the fa cup in his last season was that not improvement?

8.) 14 May 2018 12:52:01
Yes some of us recognised from day one the disaster Moyes would be and were proved right.
Your correct LvG did improve things. But the toxics spoke. Now here we are again. Another manager. More improvement. Same bad style of play. And guess what the toxics are coming out again. let's see how next year goes and replace if needed. Although I wonder who with and how much time he'll get before the knives are out.

9.) 14 May 2018 13:55:19
Spot on mort.

10.) 14 May 2018 14:36:26
How did LVG improve things? His football was worse than Sexton's. We reached the final with one of the easiest passages I can remember, and we still made hard work of it. Have people forgotten so quickly just how bad the football was under him?

11.) 14 May 2018 14:39:52
What's the difference between a toxic wanting rid of moyes or one wanting rid of lvg .
Both the same really

What has moyes got to do with Pellegrini.

12.) 14 May 2018 14:58:05
99
It was an improvement on the previous year?
Managers leave clubs I don't really get the back the manager from people who will be shouting to have him sacked by Xmas
Football at times this season has also been awful imo.

13.) 14 May 2018 15:00:11
Mort
How long before the knives are out again?

But you wanted moyes out from day 1?

14.) 14 May 2018 16:27:56
Because Moyes clearly wasn't the right appointment. As was proved. LvG like Jose arrived with a reputation more fitting a United manager.

LvG improved us in not finishing 7th and winning a cup.

Id just like to know who this footballing messiah is people want and how long they'll give him.

{Ed007's Note - lennon

15.) 14 May 2018 16:31:39
Did anyone seriously think Moyes was the right man for the job?

{Ed007's Note - Fergie?}

16.) 14 May 2018 18:57:06
Ed007, your a legend 😂😂😂.

{Ed007's Note - :-D

14 May 2018 02:17:22
Anyone else notice at the final whistle today Sanchez heading straight down the tunnel (closely followed by Jose) and when the players eventually came back out for Carrick’s speech and the end of season lap Sanchez wasn’t with the team. Are the rumours of him not gelling with the squad true?

AirforceRed

{Ed001's Note - Sanchez is a loner, he always has been one of those that did not gel with team-mates. Similar to many Spanish players to be honest, Sanchez just wants to go home and be with family after training. He is a family man, similar to the way Bobby Charlton was. The difference was, back when Charlton was in the team, there were a few of them that would go out together as a group of families for meals etc, that had been together for years. The other players need to adapt to the way he is.}

04 Feb 2018 20:39:28
I played at St George’s Park today and the next pitch to us straight after our game was Derby v United U23’s. I’m afraid our next batch don’t look that impressive. Riley looked decent and o’hara was solid but only one player apart from those two stood out and that was Chong. The kid looks a real player, brave, direct and loves to beat a player and he certainly looks like he’ll make it. Sadly the rest look average and it’s no wonder they’re struggling this year. You just can’t see many getting into the first team at all.

AirforceRed

1.) 04 Feb 2018 21:10:43
There are a few talented lads in that Team but Chong definitely the best of the lot. Not sure you can judge them on one game.

2.) 05 Feb 2018 00:49:14
No it’s unfair to judge on one game granted but they’re at the bottom of the league, haven’t won at home all season and I’m afraid you can see why. Lack of ideas and disruption to their team through injuries may account for some of it but it was the basics that they didn’t seem
To possess. Some awful First touches, poor decision making, aimless punts, a lack of pace through the side, and beaten far too easily in the tackle. They also played against ten men for a while and derby still looked more likely to score.

3.) 05 Feb 2018 00:50:40
Your right on Chong. You’ve got to hope him and Gomes make it. I spoke to the United match analysis chap and he said greenwood in the under 18’s is one to watch.

09 Jul 2017 11:05:52
Thanks for the reply ed. it's going to be an interesting month.
Think I'll have to stop scouring the betting sites for any outsiders that might make a sound investment too. I should have jumped onto the sharkopod info.

Very long time reader but first time poster. So Chelsea have hijacked pedro this morning and city appear to have otamendi. These two have been continually linked all summer. Just shows you can't second guess what's going on right now.
Do we think this will be our squad for the season? If not realistically who is out there and available?

It’s one thing big events like world cups etc going there. Dubai has had golf, tennis, cricket, Rigby 7’s, horse racing for years.

I can’t blame the Saudis for pushing the tourism angle and oil alternatives. I made a decent living there and enjoyed the place.

Even big world title boxing can produce great ticket sales. But it’s the top level players turning away from meaningful league titles, champions leagues etc just for money seems hard to grasp.

I played in the Saudi league in 90’s. There was brown envelopes in your shoes even back then. Playing in front of 1 man and his dog in huge stadiums on occasions.

Sad to see players at the top of their profession heading there now if I’m honest. It’s not like you’re not set up for life in any top league anyway.

But maybe becoming “super wealthy” not just footballer wealthy appeals to some. I still have my first pay check £29.50 a week YTS apprentice and was happy with that.

AirforceRed

{Ed002's Note - This is all happening on the back of a successful World Cup in the Middle East and the need to seek alternate income to oil. Sport has become a major focus for investment - as will tourism.}

How is he one of the worst players we have? Scores winners in charity shield, FA and league cup finals. Works tirelessly and several high quality coaches and manages have spoken of his excellent movement And work rate. He’s a red and is a team player. Yet somehow In a squad containing smalling, Jones, young, Valencia, darmian, Rojo, Sanchez, Lukaku, Fred, and the rapidly declining matic and mata you honestly believe Lingard is one of our worst players? Words fail me.

Ed002, great review of the potential targets and possible movements.

Just a general question but Do you think it’s realistic that we could see up to 15 players going in and out in one window or do you think this will be a list that will move over the next 2/ 3 windows?

It’s been a long time since I’ve seen such a potential big turnaround and just wondered what your thoughts were on the feasibility of such a lot of movement?

AirforceRed

{Ed002's Note - If you include youngsters leaving then ceratinly. From the first team squad it is less likely. The club need RB, CB, CM, CM/AM, RW/F needed plus possibly a GK and a S and I suspect that will remain the priority whilst adding a couple (like James) who can be considered to be players expected to come through for the future. Targets change and many of the targets the club has now were previously targets of Mr Mourinho - and now coaching staff have changed so it would be reasonable that at least some new targets will emerge.}

I can see why Ed gets so frustrated with united fans. Some of you are utter morons. I come on and read a lot, rarely post but I’m a season ticket holding match going red and I’ve never heard fans in the bar or the ground giving rashford or Lingard the stick that they get in here. You’ve got some guys on here with seriously flawed and unrealistic views of football, players and in particular our club.

It’s embarrassing to read the drivel some days.

It’s like listening the the African football experts on the United Facebook page on here sometimes.

You’d think that we played scintillating football every week under Fergie. We ground out results playing poorly so e weeks.

Just enjoy the fact that we’re within touching distance of a very good Liverpool side.

Cut the negativity out and just enjoy it for what it is. It’s a game, sport that’s all it is. Be passionate by all means but just stop whinging.

Mctominay a journeyman pro at best?

He’s been a United since a young boy and been rated by managers and knowledgeable football men from Sir Alex, LVG and Jose. He’s technically decent, a fantastic athlete. He’s stood out and held his own in big games games against world Class players. He’s played international football as a centre half, can play most midfield roles.

But for you he’s just a journeyman. Glad you’re not a united scout.

Everything that’s wrong with this page at present in one sentence.

75,000 reasons in the stands? You sure? One of our biggest problems is a large majority of those 75k are day tripping, megastore shopping numpties that don’t song a word, wear half and half scarves and spend the afternoon bloody filming everything on their phones.

We should be able to create a horrible, hostile environment for away teams. But we are regularly embarrassed by the away fans section.

Having a worldwide fan base has in a way led to our current predicament. The success brought in larger numbers across the world who will
Continue to spend money on anything united related. Prices went up and more day trippers than ever before appeared. The atmosphere changes, but they keep spending money. The club thinks everything is great because we keep making money, the clicks and social media stuff keeps working and they invest money in the wrong areas with superstar signings and ignore the one thing that’s important a club that just needs a few tweaks each year.

Our club has no coherent strategy, it’s ran by accountants and stockbrokers, owned by a family that have already ruins one sports club and now use us as their own personal piggy bank.

The sad fact is that things will need to get worse before they get better. For the glazers to leave will need a significant drop in value and share price before they even contemplate selling up and for that to happen we will need to be even worse on the pitch.

Sad times. The lack of new faces doesn’t bother me as much as the fact that we still have kept lots of faces that really shouldn’t be wearing the shirt any longer. Jones, smalling, Darmian, Rojo, matic.

1. Hoping that Nice and Lausanne both have good seasons to keep Jim Ratcliffe interested in football. United’s share price drops and the aforementioned Mr Ratcliffe decides to buy his boyhood club.
2. We play attractive, attacking football, the kids get lots of minutes and we don’t destroy their confidence.
3. We somehow get rid of the deadwood In January.

Not much to ask for. If we play attractive football and don’t win for another season I could accept that.
