The Boeteng link is false. United trying to land Javi Martinez who is a more suitable Jose type player (Β£40mill) πŸ˜†πŸ˜†.

1.) 07 Aug 2018 12:14:15
Javi Martinez is a ball playing center back and that is not Joses prefered type of player.

2.) 07 Aug 2018 13:26:14
Lindelof and Toby are both ball playing centrebacks.

3.) 07 Aug 2018 13:36:00
Javi Martinez is center midfielder.

4.) 07 Aug 2018 14:11:55
I don't want to go anywhere near Boateng, he is useless and just as injury prone as jones, Rojo and even Bailly.

We need a leader with experience, but they need to be robust/ able to stay fit.

5.) 07 Aug 2018 23:33:35
Both crap! Haha I’ll be gutted if we get either.

22 Jul 2018 16:04:14
Looks like Maguire could be arriving this week. A lot of outlets all saying the same Β£65mill. We will have to wait and seeπŸ˜†πŸ˜†.

1.) 22 Jul 2018 17:12:01
It's only the daily mail reporting this.

2.) 22 Jul 2018 17:20:06
Also Star Express MEN and all over the net . Also here in Spain πŸ˜†πŸ˜†.

3.) 22 Jul 2018 17:28:51
There's been some hysteria on the site about the club falling behind or going in the wrong direction which I personally don't think is correct. However, signing Harry Maguire for Β£65m would be one of the most personic things I'd have ever seen in football.

4.) 22 Jul 2018 20:08:04
Personic, do you mean moronic? In which case I wholeheartedly agree!

5.) 22 Jul 2018 20:32:51
some reports saying he would only come in if one of Rojo, Smalling or BAILLY is sold -now that would be moronic . he is our best CH.

6.) 22 Jul 2018 21:11:06
At least he can head the ball in set balls. I don't care what are fees and if it means one of Smalling/ Jones is gone.

7.) 22 Jul 2018 21:12:58
do not see why we want another centre back victor showed for sweeden how good he can be him an baily could be the heart of our defence for years.

8.) 22 Jul 2018 21:13:48
Rj in today's market that is prob a good price

Especially how good at the world cup he's just performed.

I don't understand this site sometimes

People cry out to make signings then change there mind when they hear a figure.

25 million players don't go for that anymore football has evolved in 5 years time you will prob see the very best go for 500 million.

9.) 22 Jul 2018 21:19:39
Rojo singed a new contract 2 month ago.

10.) 22 Jul 2018 21:47:00
Maguire is average at best. What’s hard to understand about that? Β£65m for him? Football, bloody hell as our former esteemed manager once famously said.

Lindelof has a fabulous world cup why not give him a go?

11.) 22 Jul 2018 22:00:52
I'm not a huge fan of Maguire. In my opinion Alfie Mawson is a better left footed, English, ball playing centre back. The only thing Maguire does better is get his head on the ball. However, some of his headed clearance leave a lot to be desired. He also has a tendency to wander off and leave the backdoor open.

Maguire is a player who needs to play in a back three. Lindelof, Bailly and Maguire could be solid. However, I would still prefer Mawson at half the cost if we had to sign an English centre back.

Personally I work rather not sign anyone and give Tuanzebe and Lindelof a chance to seal a spot along side Bailly.

12.) 23 Jul 2018 06:50:43
I don’t see how Maguire is a huge step up from Smalling and Jones!

{Ed001's Note - did you need the word huge in there?}

13.) 23 Jul 2018 06:53:28
It's not so much the fee for an individual (which I think would be a World record for a cb? ) that is the issue for me even though that is about 4 times what Maguire should actually be priced at. It's taking a huge amount of money which could impact signing others which would be the worry. Also that we would even think about signing him would be amassive concern.

He is an average CB who has developed a far larger than average head. He isn't actually very good at bringing the ball out from the back. He tends to run into space in front of him, 50% of the time just punting into the vague direction of a teammate, not actually passing to them. We have Chris Smalling who can do that and a lot of people on this site (me included) think we need an upgrade on him.

Just because the media have a semi for Maguire at the moment doesn't mean he's any better than he actually is. Surely people can see the likes of Alderweireld, Varane, Gimenez, Bonucci etc who we have been linked with are all far better than Maguire?

{Ed001's Note - it is less than Van Dijk went for in January.}

14.) 23 Jul 2018 07:27:30
So it is ed. Completely forgot about Van Dijk.

15.) 23 Jul 2018 11:27:08
Would Varane cost much more? Ten times the player.

16.) 23 Jul 2018 12:45:26
Would you blame them if they said 65 for Maguire, 75 for van dijk ok varane is 150.

12 Jul 2018 19:07:38
Deal of the window so far Seri to Fulham Β£18mill. πŸ˜†πŸ˜†.

1.) 12 Jul 2018 19:49:19
They got a good player there.

2.) 12 Jul 2018 19:53:58
Especially when everyone else was quoted 50.

09 Jun 2018 10:19:52
Some stories in sunny Spain saying Real Madrid have asked about Jose's availability in respect of a shock return as coach. πŸ˜†πŸ˜†.

1.) 09 Jun 2018 10:51:11
Absolute nonsense.

2.) 09 Jun 2018 12:24:36
No chance.

3.) 10 Jun 2018 11:04:25
Woohoo. Lol.

28 May 2018 20:27:00
Fabinho to Liverpool. Wow didn't see that one coming. Good player only see someone leaving them as well as Can for them to sign him. Is he any good as a keeper πŸ˜†πŸ˜†.

1.) 28 May 2018 21:06:46
sort of deal I like. under the radar. Sky football saying its offical.

2.) 28 May 2018 21:08:42
Cue the Pedro style meltdown from people who have never seen him play πŸ˜‚.

3.) 28 May 2018 21:23:31
He’s a very good player. But plenty of more fish in the sea. With Fred almost done and perhaps Milinkovic savic and we will have massively upgraded from last season.

4.) 28 May 2018 22:05:10
I ve never seen Fabinho, SMS, or Fred, Sandro.

5.) 28 May 2018 22:08:49
Money aside I’d rather live in Monaco and win the off trophy than move to Liverpool.

6.) 29 May 2018 08:01:10
He is a good player but believe it or not other teams are allowed to buy good players too.

Couldn't care less who Liverpool sign or don't sign .

7.) 29 May 2018 11:55:35
If Fred wasn't deemed good enough to go to the World Cup *cough*Fabinho wasn't*cough* we probably would have 'under the radar' signed him by now.

8.) 29 May 2018 12:55:04
GDS2, Many of us have seen him play, Monaco was an excellent team last season in the Champions League if you recall. They knocked out City and Dortmund and Fabinho was a key part of all of that. He is a very good player.

9.) 29 May 2018 13:34:13
Yes, he was. And so was Bakoyoko. Where is he by the way?
And did Monaco make it out of the group stage this season?
Not saying that Fabinho is a bad player but the hype he is getting is ridiculous.

10.) 29 May 2018 13:44:39
Addict, you might recall that Monaco lost Mbappe, Mendy, and Bernanrdo Silva as well as Bakoyoko. LIverpool have started the summer well, people need to admit that.

11.) 29 May 2018 13:50:32
Zid,

It was just tongue in cheek mate, the meltdown after the Pedro signing for something else, like we had just lost out on the 2nd coming of Jesus or something.

The Monaco team that did well had a lot of good players in it not just Fabinho, it is like saying you would be gutted we missed out on Wes Morgan after he won the premier league. Fabinho is a solid player but he was never first choice for us so no big loss.

12.) 29 May 2018 14:03:19
spot on zidaniel.

we may not like liverpool but you have to admit they have done some cracking business for both keita and fabinho. definitely a step up from their current midfield which was shown up against the quality of Real's midfield 3.

Personally I am happy we have matic and if we can sign fred, savic to add to pogba and herrera then we have some great options. Add pereira to the mix and some youngsters and we have our strongest midfield options in years.

But there is not point having these great options if jose does not tweak the tactics and releases the shackles. You can have all the talent in the world but if you don't coach them into a cohesive attacking unit then nothing will change. Apparently McKenna will be running the first team sessions with Jose overseeing. If this is true then I will be delighted because the youngsters played some great football under McKenna. It seems we are taking steps in the right direction and I am personally really looking forward to next season.

13.) 29 May 2018 14:19:20
Fair play guys, I get your point now, GDS2. I just think Liverpool have started well this summer by adding Keita and now Fabinho. But I also think Fred could be a great signing for us, and hopefully another CM if Fellaini does in fact move on. Savic sounds awfully expensive at the moment but time will tell.
And Park, I like your thoughts on what McKenna could bring tactically to the team.

Sad to here about the passing of David Meek (Utd reporter for over 40 years) SAF's tribute is so fitting. πŸ™πŸ™.

1.) 31 Oct 2018 18:57:45
I am lucky to have met David Meek several times, he was an avid Hockey player when younger and played at a club where I played cricket. I first chatted to him in the clubs dressing room around 1980 about Andy Ritchie, I think Ritchie had scored a hat trick but the MEN was supporting the manager who was looking for a new forward, I think Birtles. Back then the MEN was far more toe the line to the club than it is now, so I spoke to Meeky for a while as I wanted Ritchie to get a chance. Lovely calm man who was ingrained in the football club and saw him around a few times. Bumped into him at OT, in the South Stand, he was going down to the pitch and we had a good chat, again lovely chap, well liked. May he RIP.

The new pink away kit looks a bit special. I'm old enough to remember the football pink which I've found out this kits colouring is to commemorate . A nice touch from Adidas .
I'm so glad we have Adidas and not Nike . Adidas seem to have more of a connection with the fans . Still hoping for a green and yellow kit in the near futureπŸ˜†πŸ˜†.

1.) 18 Aug 2018 09:30:11
Connecting with the fans? Don’t you mean money making scheme?

16 Aug 2018 00:43:21
Interesting topic on Talk radio about if you could put a microphone on any sports star during a game and listen to everything that is said who would it be. Mine would be Roy Keane just for the entertainment πŸ˜†πŸ˜†.

1.) 16 Aug 2018 09:02:17
Fergie. All day, every day!

2.) 16 Aug 2018 17:39:39
Oi, Wes Brown for me! πŸ˜‚.

3.) 16 Aug 2018 20:25:55
Does the referee count?

06 Aug 2018 11:50:03
Leicester busy trying to buy defenders. Looks like an other for Maguire has been made. πŸ˜†πŸ˜†.

1.) 07 Aug 2018 12:05:22
Terrible signing that mate. Dealt well will long balls at the World Cup. But anytime someone runs at him he turns like milk. Really expect United to go for a top defender.

19 Jul 2018 22:55:05
Hope we pull a worldie in this transfer window . Liverpool are giving us and the rest a massive wedgie so far. #Bale πŸ˜†πŸ˜†.

1.) 19 Jul 2018 23:15:37
Who have they signed to be afraid of?

2.) 19 Jul 2018 23:19:00
Mort
Liverpool missed a decent GK last season they have bough a very good one for this season.

3.) 20 Jul 2018 11:51:43
Liverpool have strengthened their midfield, Keita will make a massive difference, he's like a creative Kanye. Fabinho will shield their shakey defence, which has actually looked a lot less shakey recently. Plus the big glaring weakness in their side was the lack of a quality goalkeeper. For me last season Ederson was a close second best keeper in the league behind DDG. Alisson is currently keeping Ederson out of the Brazilian national team.

If we ranked goalkeepers last season we had the best interest he league. Liverpool's was in the bottom 5. They have now jumped up from bottom five to top three. That is a massive improvement in one key area.

Fred looks decent, but will be be a massive improvement on Herrera? Dalot looks like he might become a top full back. But then so did Shaw.

I would say atm of the top six sides Liverpool have improved the most. Others might catch up on the recruitment front, but Liverpool will have 2-3 weeks extra training and acclimatising for their new players. A settled squad for the majority of pre-season will make it more likely that they can hit the ground running.

4.) 20 Jul 2018 13:45:13
Bang on jred.
Weak positions for them were midfield and they went out and got 2 top midfielders 1 box to box and 1 defencive ball player.
Goal keeper. Allison is a top 10 keeper and only improving. Epl could prove tough at first but he will adapt and is a top signing.
Vvd will be settled.

Shaqiri adds depth and decent cover for mane and salah.
Just over 250m spent since jan and 4 of those since they reached a cl final. Klopp is being backed to the hilt fair play to their board.
Pep did the exact same at the beginning of last season and strengthened his weak areas at fb cb and goalkeeper. Next thing you know sterling is banging in goals sane looks a world beater etc.

All the best clubs strengthen when they are doing well. It keeps players on their toes. Fergie was great at that before his last few seasons.

5.) 20 Jul 2018 13:53:09
The game has changed, previously you sought Brazilian forwards for their flair and kept away from Brazilian GK and defenders. Bold move for Liverpool but they are showing ambition whilst we watch.

One thing may wake Woodward up is the crowds in America, his paymasters won’t be happy with the lack of spectators over there.
