Hi All, just had a little info on Tom Cleverly, seems he is off to Everton for a fee of around 3-4 mil (would expect a few add ons)

In Talk with them, so should hear this soon

Bakes

1.) Rather steep pricing.

2.) Best news I have heard in weeks. Let's keep our fingers crossed it is more than a rumour.

3.) Stop teasing Bakes. If this is just a rumour then you are a very cruel man. Cleverly should have been gone last year.

4.) We should only be selling when we get in more midfielders. We are in danger of having just Carrick and Herrera. With Fellaini heading out and probably Fletcher too.

5.) Be nice if we could use him as part of a deal for Barkley. We should habe gome for him instead of the waste of money wig

6.) 09 Jul 2014 10:02:01
May not be every ones favourite player (I actually think Van Gaal could Do something with him next year) but surely we would sell him for more than that.
I would expect 7-10M once add ons included. this is after all a world where Luiz went for 40m and Fellaini 27m!!

7.) No arguments with that one.

8.) I would expect the price to be around £10m for him. If anything he has age on his side and we all know how English players cost a little more than the average players.
Sydney, are you forgetting Fletcher?

9.) He may not be good enough to play in our first 11 but 4 million? what a bloody insult

10.) Doubt this tbh! Cleverley is actually a LvG type player ie one who has the attributes to be a good player but just lacking the coaching. I reckon he will stay and be a good squad player

11.) Cleverly will stay, fletcher will stay, Anderson may stay , NanI may stay. Young and bebe may even stay.

If the main eleven function well, there are more variables for squad players to be competative.

They all have the potential to be squad players

40 Million going in AGAIN for Cesc! what is the point.

Bakes

1.) To try and sign him I assume?

Hb

2.) They must have encouraging news from the cesc camp. To bid again.

3.) If this is the case either Moyes wants his man bad and/or they are getting some encouragement from the club/player/agents.

4.) They have obviously received some encouragement from both player and club so maybe that's the point!

K-Stand Red

5.) United are obviously getting encouragement from Barca and/or CF.He is desperate for first team football pre world cup but has to remain a loyal Catalan unless Barca accept bid.His game time in first few games of season could be crucial.

6.) More paper BS

7.) 15 Aug 2013 12:02:49
One last attempt to sign him.? You got to admit it would be worth it if we got him. Fabregas would be a very, very good signing for Manchester United.

8.) Hasnt he just damaged his ankle ligaments?

9.) What's the point he's sick that's the point and the majority of our midfield wouldn't b fit to wash his boots.

10.) If he's sick what a waste of £40 million

11.) There must be some sort of encouragement.

Happy with Falcon but am still worried about the back and centre mid. A lot of people are saying that it for us!

Wot do people think?

Bakes

1.) I think Shappy said it earlier in the day. Contrary to what a lot of pundits and United fans have been saying the defence has not looked that awful at stopping the other team (MK Dons excluded). The problem has been distribution and transition. Without a genuine 3 midfielders ahead of them and makeshift wingbacks there simply isn't the confidence or ability in the team to move quickly enough to pressure the opponents. Against Burnley the backs had to resort to long balls.

You can blame the system but it was the same last year when we played a different system.

Of course we will look to improve the defence in the future but if we don't have a midfield and attack that can score goals then there's no chance of us getting back into the mix. Hopefully the signings we've made will at least get us moving in the right direction. Given how we've started the season beating Spurs and Everton for 5th spot would at least demonstrate a club on the mend.

NEWS FLASH!!
We are in talks with. NOBODY!

Bakes

1.) There is strong interest in Blind, Benatia, Vidal, Cuadrado & Di Maria that we know of. I have a feeling Depay could be a deadline day signing if others fail. I'm sure there's one or two others that have not come to light who we could sign.

2.) What a disaster again.
Once again woodwoody screwed us.
I knew this was going to happen.
I was telling every one on this site.
I told everyone one woody was chatting rubbish few weeks ago. There is no money

3.) Ronaldo requests transfer and agrees return to Man Utd but his car gets diverted to City and nunited lose another target

4.) Ash.da.one is such a characature I can't work out if it's AJH messing with us!

5.) 11 Aug 2014 23:01:00
Ash,

You post the same thing all the time 'there is no money' it's absolute rubbish and got boring very very quickly.

You can start preaching on 1st September if you are proved right, and I assure you that if you are your post will get lost amongst all the other fans saying the same thing as you.

6.) I have a very strong interest in Vidal too. I was on holiday in early July but had to rush back on urgent business. I've been threatening to make a formal bid every day since then too but mine and Juventus's valuations are a bit off at the minute. If they think I'll pay over £70, they're mad.

7.) Gds2
Off course I'm going to say the same thing over n over again because what has changed, nothing.
Woody can't deliver.
Tell your friend woody to deliver goods then I won't say nothing.

8.) 12 Aug 2014 08:08:40
In the words of Ed002. 'The club are working hard! Any responsible supporter knows that!'

9.) Think Blind is the only signing that is nailed on at the moment

10.) Dodgy, I see the likeness but he is just too good. Eds will confirm it is not me.

Ur all reading to much into Conte resigning there is no way we would pay 44 million euros for a 27 year old

Bakes

1.) So there's no way that we'd pay 35 milion pounds for the best player in a position we desperately need?

2.) If we don't then we are stupid or/and misery which I think we are by the way. We paid 38 mil for mata who was only two years younger at 25. Vidal is a player nearly everyone on here would like, most pundits think is brilliant and who LVG wanted to get when at Bayern 34 or 35 mil is not that fest to fill a huge gap we have had for years

3.) So we won't pay that much for a 27 year old and we shouldn't have paid as much for an 18 year old. So what's the rule then? Ages 22-24 only? If it happens, we are paying for a world class player in his prime. Some people will find anything to complain about though.

4.) 16 Jul 2014 02:44:27
Man City signed Yaya Touré aged 27

5.) 16 Jul 2014 08:28:45
That is exactly the region the fee is going to have to be for a player who is approaching his peak years. Will be worth every penny in my opinion.

6.) 16 Jul 2014 09:43:21
How old was Berbatov when we signed him for £31m?

31 Jan 2014 08:30:37
Getting Mata was a great coupe for DM but even with him and players coming back from injury I still think we are going to struggle.
At the least we need to get a CM & CB in place before 11pm tonight! (not going to happen)
Evra can still do the job as LB but feel the central mid field is the main problem.
Cleverly would not even make the Villa mid field so how can we expect to get a CL place with him
Carrick does a job in my eyes but is slow
Fletcher is still finding his feet from be out so long and Fellini is are only hope, when he is back and that alone is a massive risk.

It is going to be a long back end of the worst season ever!

I feel Mata is a great signing but a luxury signing at that. I don't think we will be able to bring anyone in now unit the summer and with that I can't see the single signing helping us enough to get champions league.
I really hope of 2 more signing this week CM and CB but cannot see it .

Bakes

1.) It isn't just the single signing though is it, it's the confidence that gives everybody else as well as the return of rvp, Rooney and Fellaini to full fitness at the same time.

If we had just signed them 4 players would you think we could finish top 4? It's only 6 points remember.

2.) Mata is one of the if not the best playmaker in the league, we have been struggling to create chances how is Mata not going to help that situation. Mata has scored or assisted over 60 goals in the last two years, he will dramatically improve creation within our team.

If we can get RvP and Rooney back along with Mata we will have three of the best players in the league playing for us.

He could also be the key player in bringing in a new system which should make us a stronger unit.

3.) More signings will be made, whether they be this window or next. I couldn't really understand why we bought Mata, granted he is a world class player, something we are short off, but with Rooney signing a new contract I don't see how we can accomodate all these stars.
Dont get me wrong i'm not going to moan about buying Mata, if he was available and this was the only time we where going to be able to purchase him, then well played United.
I honestly don't believe there will be any more signings this window, not because we haven't tried, but just that it is too difficult, to deal with clubs during this stage of the season, particularly for the players that will improve us.
I kinda look at it this way, there was a strong possibility we where not going to sign anyone this window, but luckily we have. Albeit not in the positions we need, but again he is a terrific player, aiding our climb up the league. You can even sense on this site what a boast the signing has brought to everyone associated with the club and hopefully he is the catalyst to salvaging the season.
I do have one question for the regulars, like I stated before I can not understand how we will accomodate all these CAM. Now I assume where going to a 4-2-3-1, however Rooney is not going to be effective from the wings, plus he is not mobile enough. Mata should be ok with this, but would not want to be stuck on the wing, due to Rooney dictating play. Then we have Janujaz, who is more effective coming in from wide, but what I have heard he will naturally progress into the centre. Then we have got the forgotten man Kagawa, who should not be let go, as he will link very well with Mata. To add to this Nick Powell, who looks like he will make an average CM, but a terrific CAM, and finally Fellani, whose best position is behind the striker. I know he plays further back for Belgium, but if United adopt this fluent football, he is not the man to link defense to attack. I would have much sooner paid the extra 7 million for Herrara, who I believe is the missing link to our midfield. I love the rumours linking us to Vidal, but to me Herrara is the player that will drastically improve our starting 11. I rate him more than Koke (Granted more creative), Gundagon and possible Martinez, Just my opinion.
Its safe to assume where losing the majority of the out-and-out wingers, but still we don't have the midfield or full backs to cope with the lack of defense, once the opposing team gets into our half.

aaallj5

4.) People also claimed we didn't need RVP and should've got a centre mid instead.

A team of DDG, Rafael, Evra, 2 from our 5 centre backs, Carrick, Fletcher, Adnan, Mata, Rooney and RVP with a bit of rotation will clinch us 4th imo.
