I know i'm going to get pelters for this but here goes, there are no managers out there at the moment who are available without complications, so, as a solution in the short-term why not consider the veritable artisan himself, monsieur wenger, he's been offered the united job before and out of loyalty stayed at the gonners, if nothing eels, at least beautiful football with an attacking slant would be back on the menu at the theatre of dreams, and i'd bring in defensive coaches to whip the back six into shape, maybe mad to suggest, but at this point just seeing free flowing football again would be great-right then, where's my tin hat!

Classof82

1.) 27 Sep 2018 07:32:20
And we can also hire the guys from Arsenal Fan TV. The post match reactions would be so fun.

2.) 27 Sep 2018 09:36:41
Does any of the eds know if anything has changed with the board over Jose or pogba? Or in your opinion if it comes to It, who do you think will go 1st? .

{Ed001's Note - there is a lot of money tied up in Jose's contract and Pogba has been trying to get out, so you would expect Pogba to go first.}

3.) 27 Sep 2018 13:33:33
In this situation pogba should be sold.

If he was more arsed about what he does on the pitch rather than what his followers are liking he would a world class player.

He will forever be a player talked about for having the potential but didn't do anything with it.

It's a shame and fergie was right all them years ago.

4.) 27 Sep 2018 14:38:16
How about Eddie Howe? Why aren't we thinking about him? I think he is a very good manager doing great things with average player, i really like his brand of football so why we don't go after him? He is young, hungry, determined and plays footy the right way.

5.) 27 Sep 2018 15:23:19
Absolute NO to wenger mate. Just my opinion of course but i'd go berserk if we appointed that!

6.) 27 Sep 2018 15:40:02
How about the Glaziers sacking Woodward, Mourinho, and sell Pogba in January. People might be happy then.
We have not lost our identity this season, we lost it the day Fergie retired. Dire football, Dire manager and dire players. Young . Smalling and jones, not fit to wear shirt. There is more movement in my bowels. Than what there is in Lukaku.
Get used to it boys the glory days won't be comming back anytime soon.

7.) 27 Sep 2018 15:56:50
Made me chuckle rockthered. bowels lol.

Have to disagree on rom though.

8.) 28 Sep 2018 01:09:50
Dire since fergi, pick out young, smalling and Jones all fergi signings.

26 Sep 2018 01:45:16
So there's no need to worry everybody peeps because our beloved 'keeper of the abacus' has announced its been an absolutely spiffing year for revenue!, not so much on the trophy front, but hey, you can't have it all-right?

mr. deadwood has announced he and others are working tirelessly to bring world class signings to old trafford and he's going to back jose with big signings going forward, so pack up your troubles boys, good times are acoming! - one synical reprobate is insinuating that since he - mr. deadwood - tied his colours to the goodship jose, he's a bit jittery about being turfed out on his bottom if jose gets tanked by the owners? i tell you what, if this season was being filmed for amazon prime, the numbers of views would trounce pups' citeh big time!

1.) 26 Sep 2018 07:03:02
It’s the only god news story there is, let’s shout about it. Woodward should be removed from footballing matters with immediate effect and move back into a commercial role.

2.) 26 Sep 2018 09:27:37
Not sure you can beat him with this stick, is Woodward supposed to tell the shareholders things aren't going well when they are?

3.) 26 Sep 2018 09:52:11
Not sure why Woodward gets stick, he's spent and spent. It's the manager and players who haven't got the results. I agree with not spending on old players with little to no resale value so it's a pretty pointless argument. Would you have backed mourinho this summer? Wanted a 70mil 30year old right winger from Chelsea and supposedly 70+mil melonhead cb from Leicester. Don't think either would be making any difference right now.

4.) 26 Sep 2018 11:44:07
If anything I’m greatful Woodward didn't let José spend millions on aging players again last summer like Peresic and Willian. Other than the summer just passed Jose has been backed and we’ve spent plenty. I agree we should get a DOF but I’m not placing to much blame for our current situation at the feet of Woodward.

05 Jun 2018 13:55:05
Er-am i missing the obvious here, surely next season will be considered a success if its a top 3 finish? if 5 or 6 players do come in won't it take at least 10-15 games for them to bed in and for jose's philosophy to be imprinted on the team (bearing in mind i'm hoping for a more attacking approach? ), nothing would make everyone happier if the team hit the ground running, but surely what with the world cup and new signings joining after a delayed holiday, i'm going to guess next season will be a 'transition season' with maybe a cup or dare to believe a good campaign in the champions league? hopefully jose and his new inner circle will prove me wrong big time.

Classof82

1.) 05 Jun 2018 14:33:32
The players that are at the club all ready will of all had at least 12 month to get the philosophy so we should in theory improve .

2.) 05 Jun 2018 15:35:25
Yeah you are missing the fact we aren't Arsenal mate.

3rd year in is the 'prove it' season, not another transition season. Every top club has to contend with the World Cup. Most top clubs buy several players in the transfer window.

Jose's philosophy can be learnt in 94 minutes, just have them watch the film "127 hours", survive the onslaught, dismember your heritage, and grind it out until the bitter end!

Since when has the financial targets of the club been the targets of the fans? I don;t care where we finish personally, I'd just like to think the past 2 years of dross football have been building to something pleasing on the eye and bringing in entertainment value from the massive investments we have made.

3.) 05 Jun 2018 15:53:10
No excuses this coming season. We have to perform and we have to challenge for the title and at least quarters for the champions league. If we are not performing to where we should be with the money spent, then it is time to start looking at a different manager.

4.) 05 Jun 2018 18:47:17
There should be no more excuses next season the manager will have had the length of his original contract, unlimited funds and the complete backing of the board.

Next season is time to stand up and be counted and I think we will unlike most on here I could care less if we make big money superstar signings I kind of like the look of the signings we've made today for example they seem the kind of signings made for the sake of the team not just to sell shirts .

Personally I think we will at least win the title next season and have a right crack at the UCL, but if we don't I think the blame can only land at one person's feet.

5.) 05 Jun 2018 19:13:15
Deano
Smallings?

6.) 05 Jun 2018 20:41:13
Sorry jred you've lost me mate?

29 May 2018 21:11:57
There seems to be a bit of a rumour about grealish being looked at, good player and worth a punt i reckon.

Classof82

{Ed025's Note - thats all united need CO82....another young guy with an attitude problem mate..

1.) 29 May 2018 23:02:01
Ed025-where is the love! by all accounts that injury he had which kept him out for months has apparently woke him up.

{Ed025's Note - leopards and spots and all that CO62, he thought he was the bees knees at villa on 8k a week imagine what he will be like at united on 100k a week?, after depay and martial you would thing they would have learn,t something mate..

2.) 30 May 2018 07:18:10
Looked a handful and more hungry grealish look at depay now tho back to the type of form that made united go out and buy him i'd like to see young english or British players given more of a chance at top teams!

3.) 30 May 2018 08:32:55
Not for me. Goes down far too easily and then rolls around the floor then all of a sudden is absolutely fine. Likes to look good with his hair. Gomez and Chong are already at Utd and are younger and better.

4.) 30 May 2018 09:58:09
I can't believe this story has any legs at all. Grealish is a decent player for Championship, Lower level prem. Snodgrass style.

He looks decent because almost everything is played through him - does anyone think for one second he will touch the ball half as much at a top club? He is also very wasteful, for every decent thing he does, he seems to give it away or makes the wrong decision 5 times.

I'd be frankly amazed if we attempt to sign him, and this comes from somebody who has almost zero faith in our transfer policy!

That's without considering his ego/ attitude problems - although he may fit in nicely on that front!

5.) 30 May 2018 10:19:12
It’s most likely just media rubbish beast. It seems the media have no real clue who we are in for, as the Dallot interest seems to show. They seem to be going by the mantra that if you throw enough crap at the wall then perhaps some will stick. The club knows it’s targets and they have a plan in place. Trust the process.

6.) 30 May 2018 14:09:08
50% of Villa fans think he's decent the other half seem to think he is a big headed show pony.

If someone could harness all the good parts of that kid Traore at Mboro he would be worth a punt. he is like Zaha on acid at the moment but there is a very good player in there somewhere.

7.) 30 May 2018 20:24:25
Villa need 45m to avoid penalties next season on overspend in efl rules what better way to sell grralish for as much as possible by putting out reports that united want him for 30m. Villa need to raise cash.

8.) 30 May 2018 20:38:23
Not a nice guy class82. he's not that talented either.

9.) 03 Jun 2018 02:46:08
We nolonger need these young boys, let's go look for players like Griezman and Bale.

{Ed0333's Note - Am is the only one that thinks Griezmann and Bale aren’t the world class players that everyone thinks they are.

25 May 2018 20:57:24
So the u23 captain Riley has signed for bradford its reported, i wonder if the great and the good at old trafford have included a sell-on clause at the very least, otherwise shades of pogba spring to mind.

Classof82

1.) 25 May 2018 21:11:47
Shades of Pogba? He signed for Bradford.

2.) 25 May 2018 22:41:56
Mancman that reply made me laugh.

3.) 26 May 2018 00:14:36
You got to be kidding classof82? Riley is decent but is not somebody we will regret selling.

4.) 25 May 2018 23:43:38
. of Turin.

5.) 26 May 2018 01:05:27
😂 sell on clause, brilliant.

6.) 26 May 2018 18:05:17

If its true that the board have asked 'no plan'zidane to wait before thinking of going anywhere else then surely the snake in the grass is good old ed deadwood, no matter what you may think of jose, the club has always been held in the highest regard at board level, if true, then it shows they can't make a definitive decision which shows lack of leadership, and that by texting jose with the dreaded vote of confidence before the game it shows they haven't the cahoonas to face him and a lack of decency as well, ed woodward is whom the decision will be made with, so he's a disgrace to the good name of the club and all that entails, and as for leaking it to the press, that's just as low, woodward needs to be binned whatever happens, if the good name of the club is sulied, everyone suffers, GET HIM GONE.

Classof82

1.) 07 Oct 2018 08:53:34
Ive said all along that Woodward has issues with Jose and all he wants is Jose gone. Closed the chequebook when Jose needed it, probably saving it for ZZ? Woodward is cancerous to our club and more be gone. NOW!

2.) 07 Oct 2018 09:26:14
I don't think Woodward leaked anything. In fact Ed02 said Mou was never getting sacked this week so don't think there was anything to leak.

3.) 07 Oct 2018 10:47:10
The report that Zidane has been asked to wait is in the same paper that ran the Jose getting sacked yesterday story

For me, if it was true, it just demonstrates clearly the paucity of strategy and planning. Zidane is a nice name, an attractive name for a football club trying to sell its brand, but a poor choice on a football basis for a Premier league club looking to solve significant issues and rebuild. It’s a nice name that might entice some fans who think he is the one to take all the pain away but don’t look deeper. However, as far as I am aware, he doesn’t yet speak English, plus his management did not result in dominance in his own league but won cup competitions with one of the best players ever and walked away at a time when a rebuild was going to be needed. Zidane would be the wrong choice in my opinion, possibly worse than LvG. The sacking of our manager would be wrong at this time, but to even consider Zidane as the best option, even if we failed to get the top four next spring, would highlight exactly the problem at our club. The same problem that thought we had good enough centre halves. The major problems are above Mourinho.

4.) 07 Oct 2018 11:14:05
Red Man, I completely agree but you and I both know that just the name Zidane will get Woodward drooling.

03 Oct 2018 03:22:40
So, doing the rounds on the world wide wait is the trully scary report via some italian bloggers (hot of the press from their contacts in the italian media! ) that along with 'zizi', a name being mumbled about is none other than antonio conte! (i think i got that first vowel right? ), yes, that kind hearted, open-minded, easy going, player sympathetic listener himself is being mentioned in dispatches, talk about spite on contes' side! -i still say bring in wenger, and have hoddle working alongside, with gary neville overseeing defensive duties, if the choice is that or conte, surely its a no-brainer? -and one side note, i reckon wenger would get a tune out of pogba and martial, not to mention more of a chance attracting french and european players to come to united for footballing reasons rather than bounty hunters (and yes, other brands of confectionary are available) -and for those who say not wenger-ex-gonner etc, the same should have applied when mourinho joined then, being ex-chavski, and all the times he slated this club., at least with wenger the style of football would be half decent.

Classof82

1.) 03 Oct 2018 06:42:09
I don’t know where to start. Wenger was a great Manager and might have been a good fit ten years ago. Not sure what makes you think Hoddle will offer anything, he has been out of the game for a very long time. As for Neville, being a pundit on Tv does not make you a great coach.

2.) 03 Oct 2018 07:16:55
I’d give Eddie Howe a go. A risk granted, but young, hungry . British manager getting a small club like Bournemouth playing some lovely attacking football on a shoe string budget. At least he wants to play football the right way.

3.) 03 Oct 2018 08:07:18
Keep Jose and bring in a new assistant manager because this one isn't up to the task . Send for Roy Keane that will stop all the whingeing 😆😆.

4.) 03 Oct 2018 08:16:45
I'm with you Stand. I don't believe it's too big a risk with Howe, as you say plays football the right way, and I doubt you would have to pay him the silly money we are paying Jose or would have to pay Zidane.

5.) 03 Oct 2018 08:20:35
Stand have you watched much of Bournmouth's fast attacking football.
They play with 10 or 11 men behind the ball for the majority of games have less possession than the opposition just about every week.
They don't play from the back and they are dire to watch.
He has a very big budget and none of his players are being chased by better teams.
Not the right man at all for me he would be gone on 18 months imo.

6.) 03 Oct 2018 09:04:21
I said Wenger in the summer as a joke although he does tick a lot of the Woodward boxes. Free, used to working on a budget and signing young unknowns who can be sold on for a profit and can scrape 4th place. Doesn't mean i'd actually want to ser him though. And I think Woodward would be after a big name to cover his latest failed appointment.

7.) 03 Oct 2018 12:33:58
Just because a manager is free, that doesn't mean we should hire them. We should be looking for the best manager we can find, even if it costs us a transfer fee/ compensation. If and when we are looking for a manager, we should approach it no different to if we are looking for a player. Draw up a list of 5, ask everyone and get knocked back and then settle for what we have.

30 Sep 2018 06:07:17
So, the red tops are saying the board are in talks with 'zizi', and the question arose what of the man himself, bearing in mind IF jose is snipered whoever comes in will have to turn the changing room into 1 unit, not factions vying against each other, so did a few chats with some madrid fans who obviously loved the silverware he brought them, but said he could be a bit blinkered when dealing with players (i. e. ronaldo always got special treatment even on a few occasions when he was having a bit of a lean patch, amongst others etc, etc-which i guess you could say shows loyalty), he also would have a pop at the press over criticism (again, depending how you look at it), but on the other hand he would ignore a player he deemed not good enough to be in the starting line-up and wouldn't even bother communicating with them, and one told me when 'zizi' left madrid he did a farewell message on whatsapp to which virtually all the players replied except those he ignored, the most interesting being gareth bale, who has always struck me as being more down to earth than most players.
So the question is who else could come in (if they pull the pin), i thought wenger but that's a marmite option, so what about glen of the hoddle, get gary neville in and that's not a bad combo in my humble opinion, but will any of this happen bearing in mind if the board frizby off jose, will his great 'Supporter-woodward'fall on his sword as well?

Classof82

1.) 30 Sep 2018 10:40:07
Wow, Ronaldo got special treatment . What kind of manager does that?
You’d never have seen that with Fergie .

2.) 30 Sep 2018 11:20:45
And apparently he kept a happy dressing room, god knows what that’s like?

3.) 30 Sep 2018 11:46:38
I really want a young manager in, no more of the same big name managers please. Sack Jose like right now, sell Pogba in January and any other clown that think they are bigger than the club and let Carrick and co to take care until the end of the season. Appoint a DoF and from there we plan for the future. I have this feeling that Howe will bring us back to the glorious days in 2,3 years but i think i am the only one in this site who think that way. Anyways in the current situation that we are in right now, i don't think there is a quick fix.

{Ed002's Note - You have a very naive view about the business.}

24 Sep 2018 12:25:31
Wow, nice to see pogba letting everyone know 'attack' should have been the primary thought on joses' mind when playing at home! -seems he really does want to be jumping on a plane in january for pastures new! -and yes, you can say he's just answering a question honestly and expressing his feelings, but surely as club captain (if it meant anything to him) he'd have toed the club line with diplomacy?, i bet his agents' phone is blowing up right now, mission disloyalty continues-yet another dressing room battle for jose, does he reprimand him or put his hand round his shoulder, either way its catch 22.

Classof82

1.) 24 Sep 2018 13:41:59
Classof82,

He isn't club captain. Also, everything he says is blown up so much it is ridiculous, did he say anything the rest of us aren't thinking? He thinks we should attack and take the game to teams at OT, hardly controversial.

2.) 24 Sep 2018 15:24:38
GDS2-Fair point, but surely even in his deluded world he must realise his comments aren't exactly helping matters, whether you like jose or not, you have to admit he has indulged pogba far more than most managers would, bearing in mind there seems to be the sense of the team starting to tick means any comments should be of a positive nature for the good of the team, but maybe i'm wrong so hands up, my bad.

3.) 24 Sep 2018 18:03:31
The comments bug me tbh honest everything seemed to be settling down the with one quote here we go again.

4.) 24 Sep 2018 20:16:59
After Pogba's pathetic lack of commitment on Saturday he would be wiser to keep his mouth shut. We as fans can SEE him not bothering to put a shift in.

One sublime but of skill is not enough.

5.) 24 Sep 2018 21:20:22
I think when pressed on why United did not adopt a more positive, his comments where worse .

"I can't tell you because I'm a player, " said Pogba. "It's not me.

"I am not the manager, I cannot, like, say that, but obviously we should show more options of playing.

"But I cannot say that, because I'm a player. That's my way of thinking - we should move better. We should move more, yeah. "

Then again if the manager is happy to critise a player to the media is it a shock if a player mentions the manager to the media?

6.) 24 Sep 2018 21:36:08
Engineering himself a January move by any chance?

7.) 24 Sep 2018 21:50:52
The unfortunate thing is that pogba is a very good player. Just not good enough often enough for us.
The more unfortunate thing is that he seems a mutinous little person as well.
He really needs to shut his mouth until he starts doing the very least that he is paid to do. I. e. give 100% every minute of every game for the fans that pay their hard earned money to watch him kick around a pigskin.

8.) 25 Sep 2018 07:00:07
Sounds to me like Pogba wants things done his way, how he sees them or it is part of his agitating to get out. There is a huge difference between the manager commenting and a player. Pogba is a player and needs to do what he is told by the manager, end of. Frankly, he needs to keep his mouth shut and start performing to the standard he is paid for. Pogba is a player who was softly dispossessed leading to the Wolves goal so is in no position to mouth off about anything, actually he should be apologising.

He needs to be fined and put back in his place but selected to play until he earns the respect and shows that he is the player he, in his head, thinks he is. He seems to have been selective when he puts the effort in and that needs to change. You play football with your head and feet not your mouth.

9.) 25 Sep 2018 07:18:32
In fairness, you do play with your mouth. Vocal communication is an essential skill for a top class player.

10.) 25 Sep 2018 12:13:05
There is a time and place to mouth off and that is certainly not infront of the media.

11.) 25 Sep 2018 18:38:37
An advice the manager would do well to remember Singh.

12.) 25 Sep 2018 21:11:54
Good point Jred. The players shouldn't criticise or even hint at it against the manager, but he continually has a go at the players publicly so how can he complain. Stems from the manager IMO.

13.) 25 Sep 2018 22:30:44
Willgreen

If you think it is ok for team members to talk out against a manager it just shows a lack of understanding at how the dynamics of management works.

{Ed025's Note - it has to work both ways though red man, jose trashing his players in public is also wrong, "something is rotten in the state of denmark" mate..as the bard would say..

14.) 25 Sep 2018 22:47:34
Ed0025
There is a big problem at the club but it has been there for years, the same stench pervaded Old Trafford in the early seventies. Change is needed from top down, it needs shaking up and the manager is trying to do that. Mourinho hasn’t been perfect but there is no way you put a player above a manager. If the club chose a player over a manager it undermines the managers position, they undermined the manager in summer and if they do it again over Pogba the manager will or should quite rightly walk away. Am off to bed as up for work early but the principle has to stand or a lot more will break down.

{Ed025's Note - i get that red man but the manager has to set a president mate, as you say the club is rotten to the core and it needs more than just a new manager..

15.) 25 Sep 2018 23:20:51
Manager sets the example.

16.) 26 Sep 2018 06:29:50
Jred
It has to come from the owners through Woodward downwards and it doesn’t
In Mourinho’s position as Manager he is absolutely right on Pogba. The problem is far bigger than the manager it is from owners down.

Just a quick point, i'd like to know just how much more influence agents now have on players routines, a certain agent revealed he liked his client to be looking for a move with about 18 months left on his contract, (whether he was happy at a club or not! ), so as to get his cut of the transfer pie or to talk up improved terms and bonus' to get his cut, mix that with increased commercials potential and branding, its like the player hasn't enough time to play football!

{Ed001's Note - nothing wrong with liking shoes, if that is how Keane judges players it is no wonder he made a crap manager! Michael Jordan loved his shoes and clothes but he never had a problem getting his head right to perform. This is the kind of idiotic thinking that holds football back in the dark ages. It is ok if they want to go and drink 25 pints a night but buy a pair of shoes and you are crucified.}

All hail the Wig, could be the best bit of business done this summer by jose in keeping him, now he has a specified role he looks different class, never going to be a flair player, doesn't need to be, the way he sits between the cbs and neutralized the danger was top banana, no nonsence like the shampoo and conditioner he uses! -just a side note, i like the way watford's doucoure went about the game, might be worth a chheky bid?

Shappy-if you asked any villa player if they'd take terry back, they'd bit your hand off for him, on a footballing level, i hate to say it, he'll make a brilliant manager, and that you can take to the bank.
