According to TVI24, Manchester United have offered Sporting 55M / € (+10 in addons) for Bruno Fernandes . The proposal must be accepted. Barcelona and Valencia have been spoken to but the player does not want to go there.

1.) 28 Jan 2020 18:15:55
Why would he not want to go to Barca.

2.) 28 Jan 2020 18:30:40
It's not happening. Best forget it. Can't see where he fits at barca (when he eventually plays) but with a new manager they maybe have a new plan/ tactic moving forward.

3.) 28 Jan 2020 18:34:51
Did you not see grim he is desperate to join us.

4.) 28 Jan 2020 18:46:20
He does not want to go to Valencia for a loan. Supposedly.

5.) 28 Jan 2020 19:55:58
I wouldn't put it by us to know that he's already agreed to go to Barcelona so to appease the fans they upped the bid knowing fine well he's already agreed to join barcelona and they can say they tried to get him.

6.) 28 Jan 2020 20:10:59
And now he is on a plane tomorrow to Manchester, football eh.

7.) 28 Jan 2020 23:21:43
Well I told you so. but however.

Yesterday we were signing Maguire and Bruno. Today we're signing Maguire Bruno and Dybala and all the negative people pop up. Hopefully we will sign all 3 and the party poppers will crawl back under their rocks, at least until January. I seriously don't think a player like Dybala is going to be forced into a move, also I don't think this can be compared to Di Maria. He was fully complacent in the move and was all about using us as a stepping stone.

Anyone remember when we signed Nani, Anderson, Hargreaves and Tevez in relatively quick succession?

If memory serves correctly the Nani and Anderson deals were announced on the same day and both a little left field versus media knowledge/ awareness, almost as if David Gill thought, well, I’m here in Portugal now, might as well be efficient.

And if I recall correctly Tevez landed as the unexpected icing on the cake not long after.

Ok so Tevez turned out to be quality but snake like; Hargreaves also quality for a very short period and will probably get injured if he reads this, Nani inconsistent but had his moments, one game v Arsenal sticks out and also hats off to anyone that can physically achieve accidentally kicking someone in the head after they have jumped for a header; Anderson kept the local kebab houses afloat, and other types of house if you believe the song - which btw was up there with any of our recent chants and I fondly remember Ronaldo, Anderson and a few other players dancing to us fans singing the Anderson song during a ~10 year old title celebration.

I’m sure I’ve muddled the details a little but I remember the feeling of “Wow, we mean business”. If we pull off the 3 signings mooted and sort out the DDG and PP situations in the short window available that’ll be similar imo - doubt it will happen though.

P. S. long time silent reader but intend to post more going forward. Keep up the good work Eds.

2.) 01 Aug 2019 01:06:29
and what if they do not sign any.

3.) 01 Aug 2019 06:26:12
Keep it coming MattDamon.

4.) 01 Aug 2019 08:00:15
MattDamon, you mentioned Nani, hargreaves, anderson and Tevez. But the most important name you mentioned was David Gill. Now unless you tell me that there is someone in our tranfer dealing team that is good enough to lace David's boots, i am very worried.

5.) 01 Aug 2019 08:13:06
Yes UA, losing David Gill was a massive blow.

6.) 01 Aug 2019 10:14:10
Dawz if we don not sign any, then moan. don't complain about what may happen just for the sake of being negative.

7.) 01 Aug 2019 13:27:16
Agreed completely UA. We've been here before with Mr Woodward. I don't want us to sign anyone who doesn't want to come, or comes for the money (Dybala) . We've bought enough of them and non have worked.
But i do want us to buy players like Fernandes, McGinn and McGuire because i firmly believe they'll give their all for the cause. Dybala is reluctant and wants the big bucks, thank you but no thank you.
So, in answer to the original poster, there are no party poopers, we all want our team to buy the best players, but only if they want to come to better our club.
Unfortunately, Woodward does not seem to understand this process.
We all hope that we can sign good, honest players between now and the season starting. So let's see what Mr Woodward delivers.

One for the formation guys. Let's presume we sign Maguire, and sign up De Gea that's our defense sorted. If we were to get Bruno and Dybala and still working on presumptions here, Pogba stays, how can we see us lining out? Is it possible to fit all the above in and still give game time to Chong and Mason. Sanchez may yet come good and with a bit of luck get a bit of Rythm going. Can we make it work without signing an out and out right wing player? I can see Bruno suiting the high press game we appear to be heading toward as he's a very lively energetic player but can't see Dybala doing much tracking back. Would love to hear peoples opinions. I for one am happy with the way we seem to be heading and although early days and still work to be done transfer wise we seem to at least have a goal in mind. there's a bit less doom and gloom about and I'm quietly excited for the coming season.

On paper, it will be a top class improvement from last season.

2.) 31 Jul 2019 07:47:28
There is the Europa League to give the kids game time. One or two kids per a Europa League game.

Being a MU fan for 30 years now, I don't see everything running that smoothly. Has it ever during a transfer window?

Is the Dybaba thing to get Inter to cough up more money? Real usually get their man and Pogba wants out. Probably best he goes before he sulks.

I think DDG will stay, I think we will end up with Maguire and one of Milinkovic-Savic or Bruno. Maybe both if Pogba is sold. We will see.

3.) 31 Jul 2019 07:49:35
I think Ole will stick with 4-2-3-1. Pogba and McTominay as the midfield pair, Dybala behind Rashford, Martial left and Bruno Fernandes starting on the right. It’ll be fluid though and width provided by the fullbacks.

4.) 31 Jul 2019 08:48:09
I don’t think Bruno and Dybala work, Bruno is better higher up the pitch and Dybala plays predominantly as a second striker.

5.) 31 Jul 2019 09:37:27
I don't see us buying both dybala and bruno.

6.) 31 Jul 2019 10:07:07
Cant Dybala play as a RW. We might sign both but would have thought he'd be used to see Pogba go the other way, not lukaku.

I still think lukaku goes to Inter.

7.) 31 Jul 2019 10:46:43
Angel, no he can't, well not in a more effective way than both Mata and Lingard have done for us. Dybala is a CF and if we push him out wide it is just another plaster over the RW position.

8.) 31 Jul 2019 11:03:43
Maybe the diamond with McTominay as the holding mid Pogba and Fernandes in the centre and Dybala at the head of the diamond with Martial and Rashford up top and able to drift into the wider areas.

I can't see how both fit into the system he has used in preseason however.

9.) 31 Jul 2019 11:04:04
Ah okay wazza. I'm sure he is also capable of playing RW.

Ed002 also had him down as playing there?

Maybe I'm wrong and have been watching the wrong player.

{Ed001's Note - he usually plays from the right for Juve.}

10.) 31 Jul 2019 11:06:48
Dybala has often been used as a Right side forward. I get the impression ole wants to play with a fluid front 4 that can interchange positions within a game.

Dybala, Fernandes, Martial and Rashford are all capable of playing in any position up front.

11.) 31 Jul 2019 11:23:09
You are correct.
You get posters on here telling people that players play in certain positions that don't play there at all. Amature analysts that know very little but people believe them. Saying he doesn't suit this or that or plays in same areas as someone else. Yet they have never seen the players train or play very much. Of course none of these regular experts have any job in football amazingly enough
Too much hyberbole.

12.) 31 Jul 2019 11:15:55
I thought that too ed001 which would tick a box for us if he does come. I think he has the capacity to interchange and be fluid, another box.

However, I'm unsure as to whether a) he really wants to come and b) if he has the work rate to really fit in the league. Question Mark's over both.

{Ed001's Note - I would steer well clear even if he was a free transfer asking for wages of £50 a week personally.}

13.) 31 Jul 2019 12:33:45
That's pretty emphatic ed.

{Ed001's Note - yep.}

14.) 31 Jul 2019 12:40:45
Dybala does often play wide right for Juve currently but his best position his central, he scores all sorts of goals from a central position. Ronaldo arrived and since being pushed out wide his form has dipped massively.

15.) 31 Jul 2019 13:05:54
Who played cf at juve before ronaldo arrived? Just check the stats wazza or were you an avid watcher of juve 24 or 18 months ago.

Wishing a speedy recovery to one of our ex players Ryan Shawcross. Looks to be a horrible injury.

1.) 27 Jul 2019 23:12:51
I saw the one picture and its one of the worst breaks I've ever seen.

03 Jul 2019 14:24:52
With a lot of talk about Maguire and other centre backs to partner Linledoff I haven't seen much talk on Bailly. What's peoples opinions on him?

DarrenUtd

1.) 03 Jul 2019 15:02:57
If he could stay fit I like him.

2.) 03 Jul 2019 15:56:42
I think he's worth another chance . He's still relatively young for a CB and with a good pre season and hopefully an injury free run he could come good again .

3.) 03 Jul 2019 16:05:02
Suffered from a very disjointed season, with injuries and suspension. I still think, with a run of games, and a bit more maturity in his play, that he could be a player.

4.) 03 Jul 2019 16:06:02
If he could stay fit we might be able to sell him.

5.) 03 Jul 2019 16:44:24
The only positive about bailly is his two-footed tackles have an average connection point of just below the knees, whereas Rojo's can land anywhere below waist height.

6.) 03 Jul 2019 17:25:13
His first season he was clearly our best CB. He an play out from the back as well.

Staying fit and injury free will be the key for him. On his day he is a great defender.

Last season he became a scapegoat for Mourinho and was played out if position against Barcelona. He should have done better against Barcelona.

I think this season will be make or break for him. I'd sell Rojo and Jones before Bailly.

7.) 03 Jul 2019 19:03:55
Same as Rojo, accident waiting to happen we see it all the time. He should be shipped.

8.) 04 Jul 2019 05:25:41
imo, Bailly's progress has stopped completely.
Not sure if it is because of training alongside Smalling, Jones, Rojo (lol)

His rashness is the main reason for injuries.
He has very good pace and strength but his average reading of the game makes him prone to last ditch tackles.
He was lacking in confidence as well last season.

Just wanted to say it was heartening to see Sean Cox enjoying the match at Anfield on the pics Friday night. With all the rivalry and too often hatred in the game I thought was great to see the man so happy. Speedy recovery Sean.

Here here. Was great to see the video of him giving the thumbs up. I wish him and his family all the best in his recovery.

3.) 14 Apr 2019 17:18:14
Agree Darren. His wife was on the late late show with aldrige and macateer and said he was making steady progress. Wonderful news .

Ed001 I love Keano but some of the stuff he comes out with is ridiculous. To say someone's not right in the head because they like shoes, pots and kettles and glass houses springs to mind. Maybe he should rip someone's head off to calm down.

DarrenUtd

{Ed001's Note - he was always an odd fish. He just thinks everyone should be like him and no one else is, thankfully. It would be a dark world if we were.}

United Addict if you were a pantomime character you would be continually booed for your negativity. Good post Shappy. I'd add that De Gea was very off form for a lot of games toward the back end of last season. If he has his head screwed on again this season, and with a much stronger defense we may concede 20 t0 25 goals less.
