Apparently you guys have agreed a deal with Lazio for Savic. 95m or something around that.

This comes from the same guy that also said Poch is coming to Chelsea though, and he called Arteta to Arsenal a couple of weeks ago.

Just wanted to let you know. I'd be ecstatic if Chelsea could spend that way again. Sergej is very good.

Jackson

1.) 18 May 2018 20:49:02
Whats the name of the 'guy' Jackson?

2.) 18 May 2018 20:59:17
No disrespect jackson but why would poch go to chelsea considering they have no champions league to offer and hazard and courtois look to be off.

Its a sideways step at best and hell have bigger clubs knocking at his door surely, Barcelona real or psg.

3.) 18 May 2018 21:27:37
All the info seems to be from a Spanish journalist called Diego Martinez the info given is off his twitter so it’s just 1 of many “in the know” people that will crop up in the next couple months.

4.) 18 May 2018 21:37:40
Diego Martinez or Stephen Howson.

5.) 18 May 2018 22:46:46
Mort, I think it's that Diego Martinez guy. I'm not on Twitter myself but someone told me about it.

And yeah, Chelsea don't look like winning the PL any time soon with the way we're spending, and the type of players we're spending on. Frankly, it's a bit pathetic. But I love the club, so whatever. Support them till the end :)

So it might be a sideways move for Poch. But on the other hand, we did win 2 of the the last 4 PL titles, and we sure as hell can pay Poch more than Spurs can. So for monetary reasons alone I could see him moving to us. Or maybe he likes the look of our outstanding youth players :-P

We'll see whether this Martinez guy is full of rubbish (similar to his namesake, Roberto lol) . He also said Martial will be starting for you tomorrow with Lukaku on the bench. Could be a first test for his knowledge.

Hey Ed, thought I'd ask this one on the United page. Any truth in the rumours that Juventus quoted United a figure that they would accept for Pogba?
Thanks for any answer.

Jackson

{Ed002's Note - It is conjecture based on discussions with two other clubs and vGaal saying he thought Pogba was nifty or whatever.}

1.) If you don't mind me asking, which clubs were those discussions being held with?
Anyways, thanks for the info as always.

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea and Real Madrid - possibly PSG as well.}

2.) Thanks a lot, Ed, great stuff as always :)

Hey guys and girls. Wanted to pop in here and congratulate you on the work that Ten Hag and your boys have done. Just a few months in, and while obviously not perfect United clearly looks like the team playing the 3rd best football to me. City and probably Arsenal better still, but even Arsenal is close I think with you guys.

So kudos to the new coaches, they've done a terrific job. Also the way Ten Hag has handled the Ronaldo mess has been refreshing. Well done to him.

Hoping for a similar turnaround under Potter at Chelsea.

Jackson

1.) 31 Oct 2022 19:38:30
Potter is a good coach, And shrewd
Rebuild for you guys too with a cf needed and kante and jorghino probably off in the summer it if contract and Silva likely to go to.
As long as he gets time he will be fine.

2.) 31 Oct 2022 20:03:18
Nice touch Jackson. The progress under ten Hag is visible but we still have a long way to go. Would be happy to get top 4 which in my opinion is up for grabs among all top 6 clubs plus maybe Newcastle except for City who will run away with the league.

Good luck with Potter. Excellent coach who will also need time. He would have been my first choice if ten Hag wasn't available.

3.) 01 Nov 2022 09:39:09
Hey Jackson, thanks for the kind words. I echo the sentiments of Ken and Unruly that Chelsea will do very well under Potter who in my opinion bis exactly the kind of manager Chelsea have needed and probably at exactly the right time.

You have a great academy that is under utilised. Mostly because under the previous regime managers were sacked at a moment's notice. That makes it hard for a manager to trust in the youth players as it literally is their head on the chopping block.

While Lampard didn't work out as manager his legacy of James and Mount are probably your two best players. You lost lost several CB's last summer and with Silva not getting any younger. Chalobah is doing well, but I question the logic of letting both Tomori and Guehi both leave on permanent deals.

Potter is far more inclined to develop those youth players into the side and will play a style of play the fans will love. In a couple of years time I can see an entertaining Chelsea side playing with 3-4 home grown lads in the first 11. However, I don't think that would have been possible under the previous regime.

I can see him moving for Caicedo next summer to replace Kante. A with a midfield of Caicedo and Gallagher long term with Mount playing ahead of them. You also need a proper ST although Broja might come good under Potter. A back up RWB and at least one more CB. However, the biggest impact will come from how he improves the players you have already.

4.) 01 Nov 2022 10:31:15
Not convinced Gallagher, Broja and Loftus-Cheek are good enough to be main-stays in Chelsea's strongest XI, but all have been highly effective on loan at other clubs. Hopefully they can recapture that at Chelsea.

5.) 01 Nov 2022 10:32:44
Appreciate the responses, it's nice when we can all get along as well :)

I agree, we should come good under Potter. But it will require the club and fans to do something they haven't done in 2 decades. Show patience. Fans are already on Potter's back after his first loss, which is obviously ridiculous but very much the nature of football fans (and especially Chelsea fans) . The fact we've been missing Kante since the 2nd PL game, and are now missing James, Fofana and Koulibaly doesn't seem to matter to some.

I myself am willing to show patience and let them work through a difficult season or two, provided the long term vision is evident. That means giving the younger players plenty of chances since as you say the academy does still produce standouts. Could be a very exciting time for the club, as Boehly and Eghbali seem to have a more coherent and structured vision for the club than Roman did the last few years. I'm looking forward to it, even though there will be short term pain.

Good luck in the remainder of the season. Maybe next time we meet there will finally be a winner in our duel. We always seem to draw these days :p.

Congrats on winning the Sancho sweepstakes in the end, people :)

Think with him and possibly Varane in the fold it's high time you stop downplaying the quality in your squad. Some really top players in there.

Jackson

1.) 01 Jul 2021 10:05:15
Thats if we get Varane. i think Sanchon is over priced, but it isn't my money. On his day he is a top player.

2.) 01 Jul 2021 10:15:34
Per reliable sources, the fee paid for Sancho is 72.9m.
It's much lower than last year's quoted fee of 100m+.

Anyway, I fee it is a solid investment for a player who can go on to give more than 10 years to the club (hopefully) .

Upto the coaches now to help him fulfill his huge potential.

3.) 01 Jul 2021 13:42:06
TRD, Jones has given the club 10 years of service. It's quality we need not longevity 😂.

{Ed077's Note - very well put Shappy. Specially considering how concise it is.

11 Aug 2019 20:02:16
Well I won't be a coward about it now. Congrats on the victory :-)

Guess it was deserved, though I don't think the difference between the 2 was nearly as big as the score suggests. We got a bit unlucky with the finishing on a couple chances, and on some other the players just didn't pick the right options.

After your penalty our inexperience showed and it took a while for us to regain composure and take control again. 2nd goal sealed it (lazy by Azpi), and 3rd made it worse than it had to be (again, thanks for switching off, Azpi) .

4th goal I thought was a bit of a shame. Zouma was down because of contact to the head. Maguire even signalled to stop play. Taylor even looked at it and just didn't do anything. Was a bit sad to see that happen.

Winning 4-0 is never undeserved, but I thought it was overly harsh for us. Good start to the season for you.
As I've said before, you have a good team with some very good players. But chance creation has to be a bit of a concern as you had to rely on idiot errors from us. Obviously we gladly obliged today lol.

Onwards and upwards for us. We've still got some big players getting back from injury in Rudiger, Kante and Callum, with James and Pulisic also getting starts soon probably. So things should improve rapidly. Hopefully.

Jackson

1.) 11 Aug 2019 20:30:55
It’s fine margins sometimes Jackson. I don’t think we should get over excited and I don’t think you should get too depressed, it was a very even game for an hour. However, I don’t see where your goals are going to come from which is going to hurt you mate.

2.) 11 Aug 2019 21:00:14
Jackson 4 nil does not reflect the game as a whole mate but pulisic had to start for me. Goals are going to bee the issue. Big fight on for Chelsea to secure top 4 imo.

3.) 11 Aug 2019 21:25:13
We rode our luck in the first half, Jackson, and it just clicked in the second. Flattering, but that's football. Kudos for coming on here as well, mate.

4.) 11 Aug 2019 21:28:31
I thought you guys played some nice stuff in the first half Jackson but maybe lacked that killer instinct. Defensively you just caved after the second goal. I don’t think you are quite as bad as that result suggests. But I think it will be a bit of a struggle.

5.) 11 Aug 2019 21:34:34
Goals will indeed be the issue for us. But then we've had Morata, Torres and Shevchenko up front, so nothing new for us I guess haha.

6.) 12 Aug 2019 05:46:37
Kante in the starting 11 will make a huge difference Jackson.
But the world class quality of Eden Hazard was clearly missing.

7.) 12 Aug 2019 08:26:31
Fair play to you coming on here Jackson.
If one or both of those two efforts that hit the woodwork go in it's a totally different game with Chelsea in charge.
Bloody glad they didn't!
I had the feeling with everything that has gone on and been talked about this summer that this result would be a surprise to us all.
I just didn't know if it would be a positive or a negative.
Delighted it was the former :)
I think ths season is going to be one hell of a ride!

26 Jul 2018 19:48:00
Chelsea fan here. Was just wondering what you guys would say to a Willian + cash offer for Martial? :-) Let's say the money would be around 15 to 20 million. Something like that seems fair.

Jose loves Willian, and doesn't appear to rate Martial all that highly. Would you guys be willing to sell Martial to another PL club if it meant you got a player Jose really likes?

Just a question. I think it would benefit both clubs.

Jackson

1.) 26 Jul 2018 19:58:26
Would do a swap of Jose and Fellaini for Hazard.

Let us know if you’re interested?

2.) 26 Jul 2018 20:11:37
With the way United conduct business these days, I would say we would the the ones paying 20m + Martial for an ageing Willian.

3.) 26 Jul 2018 21:55:38
Thanks for your input there, Danny. Really adding to the conversation :)

4.) 26 Jul 2018 22:45:28
I don't really see what united get out of it. A 30 year old limited player on big wages in exchange for a young player with potential to be very good if he sorts his attitude out. What would the next manager say. No deal. Although i'd swap you Fellaini for a pack of cheese Doritos and a can of irn bru.

5.) 26 Jul 2018 23:16:36
he was the worst right winger at the world cup.

6.) 27 Jul 2018 06:32:29
I’m with Mort in this. I’d rather keep Martial, put him
On the left, Sanchez right, Lukaku up top. That could be one hell of a forward line. All three can interchange and the movement and pace should be scary.

7.) 27 Jul 2018 06:39:15
Many would rather keep Martial, but it seems he has had enough and Jose also wants him out.

8.) 27 Jul 2018 07:38:46
AJH, that's why I think it could be good for you too. Seems Martial is unhappy, and Jose isn't too happy with him either. He would be delighted with Willian though, and you guys have enough money not to worry about spending some big money on a slightly older player.

24 Oct 2016 12:59:14
Chelsea fan here, and I'm not looking to cause trouble or anything. I'm not here to gloat. The season is long, and we've been beaten badly by Arsenal as well. Every team will get his share of beatings and wins over the season.

I was wondering what United fans thought of Mourinho's "talk" to Conte at the final whistle. I myself thought it was pretty rich coming from the king of sideline antics :-) Conte is just an extremely passionate manager, and I'm pretty sure he wasn't looking to humiliate anyone. Just that he was happy.
What did you think? Ed004 or other Eds too, if you like. I love reading your opinions.

Jackson

{Ed004's Note - I think it was petty from Mourinho TBH. I can see why he was annoyed but every manager celebrates differently and everyone knows Conte is a passionate fan. Tbf before he started trying to get the crowd going the commentators had said it was the Utd fans making the noise in the stadium so I can understand why Conte was trying to get the Chelsea fans more vocal}

1.) 24 Oct 2016 15:07:55
Summed up the whole day for united in my opinion, we couldn't even be good sore losers lol.

2.) 24 Oct 2016 16:18:17
maybe he was trying to take the attention away from the players?

3.) 24 Oct 2016 16:35:08
In italy its a unwritten rule that basically you don't take the mickey of another side when there down, that is probably what mourinho is alluding to.

But yeh there's nothing in it for me, he was embarrassed by the home support being out done by a set of fans at 4-0 down and wanted them to make some noise.

4.) 24 Oct 2016 16:55:16
Spot on Jackson and Ed004. A bit rich coming after some of Jose's antics over the years. Classic Jose attempting to deflect the attention away from his poor tactics and poor team selection, as well as the players' poor performances.

5.) 24 Oct 2016 15:25:59
Spot on, Jackson and Ed004. Thought it was a bit rich, but typical Jose looking to deflect attention away from another poor performance, poor tactics and poor team selection.

Happy, you have to take into account the stupid amount of injuries we've had to key players, James and Chilwell. Defense has also suffered mightily, and at each turn Chelsea were forced to play matches even in spite of numerous C.V. cases (where others were often afforded a postponement) .

Tuchel doesn't have us playing brilliant attacking football, that's for damn sure. But I can't say he's not a world class coach. That CL run last season wasn't a new manager bounce fluke. We started off playing not so very good under Tuchel, but the team was flat out dominant in CL. Dominated both Madrid clubs and even City in the final we were the better team. Funnily enough I thought Porto was the team that gave us far and away the most troubles.

Tuchel is one of the top coaches in the world, especially tactically. He's also been surprisingly excellent with the media and his relations within the club throughout what can be described as a turbulent period for the club. He's not perfect, but he's done remarkably well during a difficult season. Once we get defenders better suited to a 4 man backline and a good attacking player (sigh, Lukaku. ) I hope he switches to a system with a bit more attacking power on the pitch. Then we can find out if the stale attacking play is really his fault or not. Right now he's a bit handicapped by the appalling form of many of our attackers.

For those interested, the other club (aside from Chelsea) that's been heavily linked is Juventus. I think it is Juve that might make an offer for him in January.

Pulisic was kept out because of injury and his unwillingness to sign a new deal.
There's a reason he got starts again after getting fit and they started struggling later on in the season. Ideally he would've started alongside Sancho, if circumstances had permitted that.

Yeah I think it's more that the club see an opportunity to get a talent they otherwise would probably lose out on to Madrid, Bayern etc .

I do agree a CB and certainly a GK are needed. But I doubt the buying will be done after Havertz. Onana shouldn't be too hard to sign, and if we can sell a CB I'm pretty sure we'll sign a new one. But you are right, they're more needed than Havertz.

Can't say I agree there, Ed, and as a Chelsea fan I've watched a lot of Abraham minutes over the years. He doesn't have a touch like Neymar obviously, but his touch is far from bad. Makes good runs and works the opposition defense.

He's got miles better touch than Havertz for example and people say he's got a feathery touch :p.

Jackson

{Ed001's Note - I have never seen any sign of that I have to be honest.}

Kinda rude to refer to Abraham and Lukaku as donkeys, Ed. Tammy may look like Bambi on ice at times, but his technical ability coupled with his athleticism, it's not a combination you find very often.

And I'm not Lukaku's biggest fan. But you don't score over 100 PL goals and fire your team to a Serie A title after a decade of Juve dominance if you're a donkey.

Jackson

{Ed001's Note - what technical ability? Abraham has the exact same issues as Lukaku, with a horrible first touch, which is why, like Lukaku, he scores against poor teams as they give him space to rescue his brutal touch. The pair of them control the ball like they have trampolines on their boots. They succeed because Serie A is dog muck nowadays. That is the reason Juve dominated for so long, because it is such a weak league.}

MancMan, you should watch more Palace. Guehi's been one of the best CBs in the PL this season, and it's more than right he got called up.

As for Coady, Mings and Maguire, yeah. Tomori should get in ahead of all of them. Also ahead of Ben White to be honest.

Caolan, sad as it may be, you're right. I know they'll be sold. All because Chelsea want to sell first before buying (which makes sense), and the only players getting interest from other clubs are our talented youth (as opposed to our underperforming, big name "stars") .

I love Chelsea, but the past few years have been hard to support them, watching them make a lot of stupid decisions in terms of squad building. Different to United in terms of the mistakes they make, but I guess we're all a bit in the same boat when it comes to seeing the club we love drop off a lot.
