Hi eds, any truth to the rumours we've been offered goncalo ramos for €80m?

Which if i recall is less than his clause.

Many thanks.

Karl Franz

{Ed002's Note - His agent is talking to interested sides but Benfica would want something close to the buy out clause in a single payment.}

1.) 17 Jun 2023 19:06:01
Who in their right mind is going to sanction €80m worth of capital outlay in one payment given the relative turnover of football clubs? Even funding that with loans is outrageous. How do they even get the credit?

{Ed002's Note - If you want to buy players invoking Buy Out clauses in Iberia it needs to be a single payment or there needs to be negotiation with the club to pay a premium and spread the costs.}

2.) 17 Jun 2023 19:35:50
That’s a super interesting law Ed - thanks for the knowledge. Makes doing business tricky I guess.

Hi Eds, what will be the next step in the sale be after the soft deadline today?

And when will we likely learn more about the parties that have bid.

Thank you in advance.

Karl Franz

{Ed002's Note - The process is as I have previously explained - the bankers will sift through any bids made and decide if any are worthy of recommendation, and if they are they will make a recommendation to the owners. I have already explained who the potential bidders are.}

1.) 17 Feb 2023 14:22:02
Thank you for the answer Ed, appreciate your insight.

2.) 17 Feb 2023 14:25:47
Thanks Ed002, appologies i must have missed that one.

{Ed002's Note - No problem. If there is not an acceptable offer they will go through the process again.}

3.) 17 Feb 2023 15:28:10
Hopefully this is as quick as the purchase of Jadon Sancho was.

4.) 17 Feb 2023 23:18:19
Hi Ed, with the deadline past (soft deadline), we've got public word of INEOS and Qatar. Is there any way to know if any of the other groups have bid - or any idea if other names you listed as interested followed through?

{Ed002's Note - Others may yet bid.}

5.) 18 Feb 2023 03:00:24
Thanks Ed! Hopefully more competition and some of of those US groups just to ensure we get the best options.

6.) 18 Feb 2023 04:16:06
Thanks Ed, hoping for it.

7.) 18 Feb 2023 12:14:04
Im just hoping the Glazers are willing to move on their valuation.

I have a terrible feeling we will be stuck with them because of their greed in wanting so much and won't accept any of the bids.

8.) 18 Feb 2023 16:42:22
They have to sell, they just want as much as they can get. They will be hoping to create a bidding war.

If we pay €60 million for Dembele some one needs to be sacked! Hoping it would be more than one!

Karl Franz

1.) 05 Oct 2020 19:49:29
Deal is off apparently.

2.) 05 Oct 2020 20:03:47
Hope not.

3.) 05 Oct 2020 20:40:02
You would need the medical to last a whole week for Dembele after his injury record over the last few years.

4.) 05 Oct 2020 23:00:14
they were thinking of getting him without a medical unreal.

5.) 06 Oct 2020 08:39:34
I hears that to dazw, i would like to think it was only a rumour and not true.
Can you imagine suggesting that for any player nevermind one who looks to be made of rice paper.

I would of taken him on loan given what we have done this window. But a permanant deal is such a risk with him.

6.) 09 Oct 2020 00:12:53

Hi Ed, with Xhaka to Roma looking like it may not happen now what's the chances of them turning their attention back to Matic?

Karl Franz

{Ed002's Note - I would not worry yourself.}

20 Apr 2021 21:45:43
Hi Ed, i read on the Liverpool site about being demoted to the national league. Does this look like being the outcome?
How many of the clubs will this involve or will it jusy be Utd and Liverpool?

Gutted if that's the case, the clubs themselves and fans should not be punished but the collective few who have made these decisions. I know that is not realistic but hey i'm a glass half full giy.

Karl Franz

{Ed002's Note - The clubs are planning on leaving the PL and starting their own competition - should they later decide to return the National League would be the obvious starting point.}

1.) 20 Apr 2021 22:01:24
So if Utd where to pull out now then this could be avoided.

Is that likely or are they planning on seeing this through to the end?

Sorry for the numerous questions i know you are likely getting hammered with them currently.

{Ed002's Note - Manchester United are behind the whole thing with Liverpool - following up on the FSG threat after the clubs' Project Bigfoot was kicked out last yera.}

2.) 20 Apr 2021 22:06:05
The problem is Franz you can only punish the owners by diminishing the value asset we have to hope that a commitment to sell and quickly may be enough to allow the club not to be punished but Ed has already said how difficult that could prove.

3.) 20 Apr 2021 22:11:56
Can anyone let me know the threat FSG made that Ed mentions please?

{Ed002's Note - To form their own league.}

4.) 20 Apr 2021 22:51:03
Wow which clubs? Ed002 i know you are tired of this but please tell me this if you can because I didn't understand the situation very well. You mean teams playing in Super League must quit Premier League?

{Ed002's Note - Of course.}

5.) 20 Apr 2021 23:06:04
Thanks Ed002. Finally its legal? Can the Premier oust them out of the league?

{Ed002's Note - I have explained the situation over and over.}

6.) 20 Apr 2021 23:21:57
Thanks Ed002, your informations are spot on.

Watched the Forest game today to see Garner and i was impressed with his overall performance looked a class above many on the pitch and picked up MOTM.

This is only the 3rd time I've watched him in the Championship but i have been impressed everytime.

So what does everyone think should happen next year with Garner.

Not sure if another loan to the championship were he will play everyweek or to a prem team where we can see if he is at the level bit may not get the same amount of games.

Do people think he will make the grade with us he certainly looks to be far better on the ball than Mcfred for me already.

Karl Franz

1.) 20 Mar 2021 18:45:09
I would love to see him in a team like Brighton or Southampton.

2.) 20 Mar 2021 19:06:49
Ryan's left foot.

Thats a good shout.

3.) 20 Mar 2021 19:10:23
I think either of those would really suit him.

Both with good managers aswell who i think would appreciate his abilities.

4.) 20 Mar 2021 19:43:52
He was given the armband today when the captain went off, that could suggest he is good enough and mature enough without another loan.

5.) 21 Mar 2021 06:17:38
Pop over to the Forest page, the fans really do rate him. Very impressive.

{Ed077's Note - yeah they seem very impressed by him. They think he is better than the current level Forest have been playing at (i.e Championship bottom half)

6.) 21 Mar 2021 08:45:00
He looks to have what were missing in our midfield pivot right now.

I love Mctomminay and Freds work rate and attitude but they have obvious short comings on the ball.

They just give the ball away to much.

Garner today was hitting passes allover the park and and hardly ever conceded possesion.
He was also great receiving the ball under pressure on many occasions finding a pass forward rather than back to one of the defence. This was maybe the most impressive part of how composed he was doing it.

7.) 21 Mar 2021 09:13:34
Garner has huge potential, he has shades of Carrick about him.

That said I think he is still a year or so away from pushing for a regular spot with us.

I think he could do with a loan next season ideally to a EPL team, however the most important thing is playing time and style of play over the league.

8.) 21 Mar 2021 13:10:01
I think it’s very harsh on McTominay to be coupling him up with Fred regards opinion.

McTominay’s passing range is actually pretty good. Fred on the other hand can’t pass water which should be no reflection on Scott.

9.) 21 Mar 2021 14:48:59
McTominay has a decent but not great passing range, he is accurate and crisp with passes that are 5-15 yards, those over 25 yards he is okay at but not great. Fred on the other hand could misplace a 2 yard pass.

That said I feel McTominay's strengths come in a box to box roll which gets the most out of his running power and stamina, while enabling to use his physicality to pressure and win the ball, and allow him to get forward to unleash his powerful and accurate shooting. In that role his limitations to hit 30, 40 or 50 yard passes is mitigated as he wouldn't be expected to do so. In that sort of role most of his passes would be 5-20 yards. Winning it and laying it off before moving to find space, taking the ball and driving forward with it or making shorter passes in the final third.

10.) 21 Mar 2021 17:10:44
Have to disagree entirely on that Shappy, I’ve seen a great range of passing from McTominay this season. Like with Declan Rice, another midfielder whose passing has greatly improved.

Be interested to get the Eds views of project big picture that has been propsed. To me it sounds like the big clubs are just trying to get more power. But i'm sure there is more to it than what's been printed so far.

Karl Franz

{Ed002's Note - Someone asked earlier and the name may well have been thought up by a media outlet. It is all to do with a commissioned report that the Liverpool owners had written by a third party in order to ensure certain income is allocated on the basis of more for the more successful sides and proposes reducing the size of the league to 18 (aligning with what UEFA and FIFA would like), scratching the League Cup and the Charity Shield. However, there is a larger plan for Liverpool to host a pre-season tournament every year that would require clubs to commit playing full first team squads. This clashes with the views of FIFA. The reduction is the size of the league makes some sense but will be difficult for the Premier League to pass. The FA are looking at tweaking Home Grown and Club Developed rules which could hit one or two clubs hard - not least Liverpool. It is one of a number of proposals kicking around - they come and go.}

1.) 11 Oct 2020 13:47:40
Thanks Ed002 as always.

Ed002 do we still hold an interest Ramos. I know in the past we have.

And is there a preffered target for striker?

Karl Franz

{Ed002's Note - Gonçalo Ramos (F/AM) One of two players Roma enquired after with Benfica. Nottingham Forest have made a bid in the summer. Interest of Newcastle and perhaps Leeds to do the same. Southampton have asked about his availability and Wolves had a loan request rejected. Manchester United and PSG sent scouts and may look again after a good start to the season and a good World Cup - could end up as first choice for Manchester United. Don't rule out a bid from Chelsea but he is not first choice and at €120M not one to make a mistake with. A very well liked youngster but the cost will be huge with Benfica requiring his buy out clause to be paid in a single payment.}

Csm yeh i apreciate that point of view as well. Just feel our squad is bloated with players that are either not good enough or not wanted. If we want to move forward i just think it would be more beneficial to move on the likes of Smalling, Rojo and god forbid Jones and use what ever money we get towards some one who is actually going to compete for a starting birth in the team.

That's disapointing to hear Ed. He clearly is not in the managers plans and considering we paid around 10m for him it is not like he owes the club anything at this point. Hopefully they can find a solution to help him move on rather than pricing him out of a move away from the club where he obviously has no future.
