Apparantley we had made an improved offer for vidal which is why conte left

Any news on a potential move for Blind? Looked a great utility player at the World Cup and could provide LB and CB cover as well as playing his holding midfield role.

2.) According to Blind's agent, he's staying at Ajax

3.) 16 Jul 2014 12:45:21
i am a sheffield united fan but I have heard that you will be signing vidal very soon!

4.) There must be something going on with Juventus. First the evra move, now a resignation out the blue - of a successful manager.

There has also been a sort of media silence in the last few days (at least in the newspapers, not so much on twitter!) which I find often happens when united start to close in on players. I think we use our connections with journalists and papers, perhaps giving exclusives and favours to those that co-operate with us, to try and silence the media when we get close to a deal.
Late interest from other clubs can cost a lot in terms of negotiating down wage demands, and worst case senario, a psg or man city might enter the fray and bid something ridiculous, as with lucas moura.

If this is at all right we may be presently thrashing out details and hoping to get the transfer sealed asap. let's hope conte's resignation has not alerted too many other clubs and we are able to get the deal completed.

5.) Do you not think it is possible that Conte may have been offered the itallian managers job and this is why he has stepped down I hope I am wrong and Vidal is united bound but I am not so sure that just because conte has stepped down it means we are going to sign vidal it could mean pogba is ready to be sold to chelskie.

The vidal deal is off as juventus are asking for too much!

MAN_UTD

1.) I must be the only one hoping Vidal doesn't come. Assuming our midfield 3 under LVG will have mata/rooney at no10, herrera, and a CDM, I would much rather see a good young CDM come in, such as Carvalho. Vidal is a brilliant player no doubt, but if you play both him and herrera, someone will need to play out of position, and for 35m or whatever with little resale value, I don't think Vidal is who we really need.

2.) Why do I get the feeling MAN_UTD is a lad from a country where it is currently morning and he is now reading a morning paper which gets their info from the Daily Fail? Am I close?

3.) Syd don't talk to Sir Ed Woodward like that, he is only passing on the very latest transfer related information, so that we, the supporters, are kept right up to date.

4.) Manu91,

From what I have read LVG likes his midfielders to be versatile, I think it is unlikely we will target someone that is only able to play as CDM and yes I think you are the only one that doesn't want Vidal.

5.) Syd,

He may also be someone who can't just RTFP!

6.) Manu91 - I know where you're coming from, it's the main reason I don't expect Vidal to come in.

If he does though, I think they are both versatile and intelligent enough to develop an understanding, with one coming forward while the other covers, it wouldn't be the first time two box-to-box midfielders have made an effective partnership.

It also gives the option of playing without a number 10, playing them either side of Carrick, with both able to get forward. Could be handy against some sides.

Finally, while I'm a huge fan of Herrera, Vidal is the best in the world in that role, so I'd take him even if they can't play together and It reduces Herrera to an expensive understudy.

Eds, can you update us on the latest with vidal? Thanks

MAN_UTD

{Ed002's Note - Nothing has changed - Manchester United will need to persuade Juventus to sell and Juventus are looking for another club to make an offer.}

1.) Ed, do you think a deal could be done?

Thanks

{Ed002's Note - I think there has to be every possibility a deal can be done for Vidal. The Pogba situation is moving on and Juventus are regrouping to finalise the players they are looking to sign. However, Juve has, through a third party, approached another club about a bid. And it is not out of the question that Real Madrid might look again. So, every possibility but let's not make a damp spot just yet.}

2.) Why are juventus so eager to sell to this unnamed team instead ed? We are of no immediate threat to them being in a different league and out of the champions league?

Thanks in advance

{Ed002's Note - They can use it to push up the price. If you own the last watermelon in the world, you can get a better price if there is more than one person interested in buying it. Interestingly, the same is true of aubergines (eggplants). Feel free to share this wisdom}

3.) Ed can you say as to why Juventus are looking for another club to make an offer?

{Ed002's Note - Try searching on eggplant.}

4.) 15 Jul 2014 00:07:06
Just a guess but i'd wager we have Carvalho deal ready in case this falls through. Vidal is obviously a different kettle of darts to Carvalho but Willy C has potential. Fingers crossed something happens between now and the start of the tour.

5.) I could be very wrong, but I get the feeling MU are playing hardball. I think Vidal and his agent have agreed to move to MU and with there being no rival, MU are trying to drag the price down. If Juventus get other clubs interested then this could come back and bite us on the arse. I don't think we have dropped our interest, more like us playing hardball. MU will know that we are the only team interested currently, I imagine Vidal and agent want the MU move and MU probably know Juve need to sell him to fund other players. We also have Evra who they want. So a bit of hardball IMO.

6.) The old supply and demand curve of a watermelon strikes again

7.) Never thought i'd say this syd but I agree with you :)

8.) Ed,

Is it common for teams to try and get other teams interested to start a bidding war.

Thanks

{Ed007's Note - Very common.}

9.) Ed which is the team they approached Bayern?. Or who otherwise?

{Ed002's Note - Yes.}

10.) 15 Jul 2014 11:00:11
Ed002, there are some sources saying that Vidal wants MU move, his agent wants MU move, the only hold up is the fee. Is that where you believe it's at too? Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - He wants to play elsewhere and Manchester United is the club giving him that chance right now. Juventus don't want to sell but if they must they want the best price.}

11.) 15 Jul 2014 11:00:24
Ed002 - do you think United would be better off pursuing other options, or is there a realistic chance that Juventus could be persuaded to sell?

Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - It will be about money.}

12.) 15 Jul 2014 11:28:15
Ed002, is that so they can push the price up? Or are they looking to do a swap with that other club?

{Ed002's Note - They are looking for the best price.}

13.) Thanks Ed, those posts I posted were from yesterday so sorry you have had to repeat yourself.

You gave the figure €40m that Barcelona were looking to get for Sanchez. That is the same figure the media are reporting that Juve want for Vidal. I think we would pay that if that was the case. I believe they are asking for around €60m in reality. Can you give us a figure, no probs if you can't.

14.) 15 Jul 2014 14:49:07
Can't blame them for wanting top dollar for him, he only signed a new deal in December and he is a quality player. For me, anything around £40m plus Evra would make for great value.

Ed002 are the reports of Juve wanting £35m accurate? Seems a bit low to me, £35m plus Evra and Nani would seem more realistic to me and I would happily do that deal, personally. Oh and any ideas where the name 'Eggplant' came from? Always wondered, but never thought to ask anyone when I have been in the States, strange name for a disgusting vegetable.

1.) Make your mind up, earlier you said there wasn't going to be a deal.
