Just found a piece of paper outside Old Trafford in a bin bag (was looking for dinner) and seen that Jose wrote a note to his dog saying he was close to signing Pogba. Truth lads, 100%.

You cannot beat bin food, best food in the world.

2.) 01 Aug 2016 20:40:38
Especially after a few pints.

3.) 02 Aug 2016 08:01:51
Now this is a genuine rumour I was waiting this whole transfer window. I don't believe anyone would disagree with it.

PS- These days at least you find something in the bin. I remember 3-4 years back when Anderson was still around, I always left disappointed.

4.) 04 Aug 2016 23:16:49
Why is it not an Olympic event
"And the Bindipping Gold goes to Mpez"😆😆.

Rumours tonight of De Gea for Benzema, or Benzema for €40m. I'd happily do either of those two deals, would love to see Benzema at the club, and think he'd excel. Great number 9, can poach, head, and more importantly for ourselves, make his own goals.

MPez

{Ed025's Note - im a massive fan of his Mpez..

1.) 04 Jun 2015 23:50:52
This is actually one rumour I fully expect us to complete. Anything under 40 million, in today's world of inflated prices, is a bargain for a guy who is still only 27.

2.) 04 Jun 2015 23:59:15
Benzema or Higuain? Which suits United more do you think?

3.) 05 Jun 2015 00:51:25
Simon 23 is old in football terms mate

4.) 05 Jun 2015 04:27:09
Benzema by far, ODavis. Our team at the minutes problem, is that we cannot create enough chances for our forwards, which IMO is why Falcao had a dreadful season. Higuain is more along the lines of Falcao's style, whilst Benzema has everything.

5.) 05 Jun 2015 06:24:48
Jmb this is a recent trend.
Turn the clock back a few years, 26-27 was the age when players usually started to peak

6.) 05 Jun 2015 08:44:53
Roger Milla anyone? Legend!

7.) 05 Jun 2015 09:30:58
Dip - I was only joking mate. I was just having a wise crack about what someone posted a few days ago.

8.) 05 Jun 2015 10:23:49
He is the definition of being a complete number 9. A potentially awesome signing and would be the best striker in the League over both Aguero and Diego Costa. May also link up well with Di Maria.

9.) 05 Jun 2015 11:15:02
Would love us to sign Benzema but never better than Aguero

10.) 05 Jun 2015 11:25:50
Benzema would be a huge signing. The guy is a tank. Way better than Higuain Fingers crossed

11.) 05 Jun 2015 12:25:38
A fantastic signing IMO. I've said it before either Benzema or Lewandowski would be perfect for us. Both have all the attributes required and can provide something special at any given moment. If we are to lose Big Dave it would be an ideal transfer to receive Big Ben in return lol

12.) 05 Jun 2015 15:13:40
Benzema also fits the model of play at United and the PL. totally agree but wrestling him away will be a tough challenge!!

13.) 09 Jun 2015 19:09:27
I agree Benzema or Lewandowski would both suit us perfectly, and if . However, I do worry that Chelsea will snap up Falcao and he will bag a ton of goals in a team that creates lots of chances. Costa and Falcao are very similar, both have great positioning and finishing, as well great heading abilities, but rely on others to create chances for them, so I reckon Falcao would be incredibly dangerous in that Chelsea team. IF we signed Benzema, I assume that would be the end of the road for Van Persie?

002, do you have any info on the news reported by Sky Sports Germany that Ilkay Gundogan to United has been agreed?

MPez

{Ed002's Note - It hasn't at this time.}

1.) 25 Apr 2015 09:51:24
Fantastic signing if it happens

31 Mar 2015 13:30:38
002, or any of the ed's who may know, bit of a lesser known player, but is there any interest from anywhere in the lad Omar Abdulrahman of Al Ain in UAE? Fella seems to be causing a bit of a stir.

MPez

{Ed002's Note - Not recently. Abdulrahman has been courted by Sporting Lisbon and Manchester City, spending time with both during the summer of 2013, Ajax, Lyon and Hamburg (and probably others) also expressed interest in the player last summer.}

1.) 31 Mar 2015 16:09:50
Is there any expectation that he'll be on the move any time soon?

11 Dec 2014 06:22:02
002, you mentioned the possibility of Bale being moved on (if they can do so), so may I ask where may lie interest in GB? Would a return to the premier league be most likely? Would we be interested? Would we be capable of getting him?

Cheers in advance!

MPez

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any interest in him at the price they would ask.}

Hello mate.

001, now the manic period is over, on to bigger and better things.

I've been wondering, based off your statement recently regarding waking up in 3 hours to compile the report of the day.

Is running this website now your full time gig?

I remember when this used to be just one page, footballrumours. co. uk, and if it is now your full time gig i'm mighty impressed mate. Come a long way.

MPez

{Ed001's Note - yes mate it is, and it is very full time. It certainly keeps me busy! Cheers mate, it is always amazes me how far it has come.}

1.) 08 Aug 2019 20:47:58
To think everyone was going wow when Ian Wallace and Trevor Francis were sold for £1m, the transfer fees have just gone mad now ed, it's a changed game these days.

2.) 08 Aug 2019 22:52:04
Respect. I remember many a moon ago being sat in ICT in school with a mate of mine on this site every day (single site at that stage) in little old Northern Ireland, and now i’m a pig in even littler Gibraltar.

Live moves fast mate.

{Ed001's Note - I remember when we got excited over 100 people having visited the site in total!}

Big season required from Fred and Alexis.

If we get Fred adaptating to the league, as Lindelof did, we would have a great midfielder on our hands. Maybe the bosses are holding out for that before we splash on CMs.

Alexis. well. I mean if we get 75% of his ability, we'll be laughing. With our new style of play, and Alexis' suiting to No. 10, it may not be all so doom and gloom.

Bring on Sunday, I just want to watch United again. And have another excuse to get pis*ed.

MPez

1.) 07 Aug 2019 19:21:30
More than willing to give fred a second season to see if he has ironed out some of his clear deficiencies that were present last season.

But i really hope alexis is frozen out by ole even if he doesn't secure a move away in August. His performances since joining have been disgracefully poor and his sky high wages have caused disharmony amongst the dressing room.

Couple that with the pitiful self substitution against huddersfield and trips to chile to “recover” he has taken liberties that other players would have been crucified for.

Dan james, greenwood, ching, gomes and even dalot should be getting opportunities before him.

2.) 07 Aug 2019 19:42:05
Kieran McKenna recommended Fred after commenting on his performance for Shakthar in the 2017/ 18 CL against City.
This is also the reason why City were interested in the player.
Yes he has been poor. He did have one or two better games when Ole turned up.
Problem as always is adjusting to the PL and life in England.
Ole has said that there is a player in there and so perhaps we will see the real Fred this season.
This is the problem with all foreign signings that we may have to wait to see the best of them.
Hope he comes good as we really need this to happen.

3.) 07 Aug 2019 20:23:41
Fred is a liability, there is nothing to his game that is Utd quality. You can't teach first touch to a player at UTD. As for Sanchez i hope he at least scores 8-10.

06 Aug 2019 17:33:00
I cannot bloody wait for Thursday 6pm. This window has been so aggravating, i'm genuinely lacking interest now. We sign players, happy days. We dont, and I am beyond the point of caring.

The sooner sunday comes the better.

MPez

1.) 06 Aug 2019 18:44:23
Agreed mpez. But it is fun these last days. Well for me at least.

I think we've had a fine window and will be okay.

Just looking forward to how it plays out. Always fun and games watching ok as a fan.

2.) 06 Aug 2019 22:07:58
Don't wish your life away. Just have an offline holiday.

Best of luck to all the Ed's today, i'm sure you'll be in overdrive all day. Wouldn't want to walk 10 foot in your shoes today, never mind a mile!

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate.}

“Strike / curl / stroke the ball into the far corner” I swear almost all of Antony’s goals come from this method?

What is the issue that people have with Antony? My word, you’d think he had a shocking season when in all actuality he was one of our better players.

And to say that he should watch Diallo is quite insulting. Diallo is fantastic, but have a day off, RedMan.

Good lord you would think some of our own fans hate our team.

Antony may not have set the world alight this season, however I will remind you that it was his first season at the club, and I for one think he did very well by all accounts.

I think if you pay attention to Antony’s game, he brings a hell of a lot to the team dimensionally. Look at the statistics for games we threw away late on, and have a look specifically at when Antony was brought off the pitch and when the opposition then scored and got back into to game. I believe you will be extremely pleasantly surprised.

He knows the system ETH wants to implement, he offers width and he tracks back. let's also not forget the fact our right back position was equivalent to the role of Batman, being chopped and changed nearly every game. As a winger this does not provide a good foundation for a relationship to be built on your side of the pitch.

Also, the fact you mention ‘lack of pace’ informs me quite well that your opinion as useful as a chocolate kettle. The kid was the fast player in our squad last season, and by quite some distance of almost half a kilometre per hour faster than that individual in second place.

Give the kid a damn chance and stop expecting every damn winger to be a basic 442 winger like Giggs/ Beckham or a superstar like Ronaldo/ Rashford (Rashford used lightly in this sentence) .

Alas, I make mention that Arjen Robben was the most one dimensional player the universe has ever seen. It was like he had a manuscript built in, which he couldn’t divert away from. However, he damn well sure enough was one of the most electric players around. I bet you knew he was world class all his career, right? Or was it just when he ended up and Bayern and matured more as a player?

Thank the heavens that no fans drove him away for being too one dimensional.

Fergies most famous quote of “Football, bloody hell” should be re-quoted for nowadays with “Football fans, bloody hell” with regards to spoilt fans.

At the end of the day, Lukaku hasn’t worked out, and won't work out. Especially with the new style we’re trying to play.

Dybala is a fresh face, who suits the style we’re trying to play.

We all said we wanted a new RW/ AM, so now we’re potentially getting a top-class one we’re trying to pick holes in it.

Sometimes people can easily find faults in other, but are colourblind to faults of their own. Be happy, be excited. What will be will be, roll with it.

You’re right GDS2, one player wouldn’t change anything. Just like if we hadn’t signed RVP we still would have won the league, absolute toff mate.

Oblak is like De Gea, unreal shot stopped (tbc with De Gea in recent seasons tbf) but he couldn’t pass C.V. even if he tried.

Haven’t posted in a LONG time, but i’ve always been here. This is a topic that interests me. I’ve played at various levels of football, from amateur league for my village team (which honestly was the most enjoyable) to playing working my way into the Northern Ireland mix at 16. I done my ACL and LCL at the same time though, and it never truly healed. Only playing 5 aside with work and friends recently, due to moving abroad to a far warmer climate which has seen the end of my 11-aside career due to the heat almost incapacitating me around the 60 minute mark. I’ve pretty much been a striker or number ten whilst playing, and i’ve ventured through a lot of different boots.

Nike Mecurial Vapors - I always wanted to try these around the time of R9 and Henry wearing these, as they were always seen as the flashy boot. I got them far later in my playing days, closer to the ones we see now, for one season, and I absolutely hated them. They are the worst fitting boot I have ever seen, and how players aren’t walking around like Cowboy’s i’ll never know. I thought I maybe needed to play around with the sizing, so for the next pre-season I bought two pairs of different sizes. Both were out after two weeks. Would NOT recommend, however I do regret not trying them when they were only a few years old.

Adidas AdiPure IV - I had these in Scarlet Red, countered against my team’s kit beautifully at the time. What a fantastic boot. The fit of the boot and the comfort, my lord. Incredible. It honestly felt like you were playing in a pair of fluffy slippers. The only downside is that the thickness of the leather, which was extremely soft, which was the reason for their comfort also came with a downside for me personally. You lost the feel of the ball, with the additional thickness taking away my natural feel of the ball. I believe they are the perfect boot for a player who strolls through the game, which is seen by the fact that Toni KROOS is still wearing these boots even though they terminated in production some 6-7 years ago. Great boot, but not my favourite.

Adidas F50.6 Tunit - These boots became popular during the 2006 world cup period. They were really the first advancement in boot technology, so I had to try them. I quite liked them from memory, but not enough to get another model the next season. Nothing particularly stands out in memory, other than them being cool as f**k at the time.

Adidas F50 adiZero 2014 Champions League - Simply horrendous. These were available in either that plastic’y material, or in quilted leather. Due to my previous experience with leather being too thick with the AdiPure’s I went with the plastic. What a mistake. I picked this material, added to the previous point, because they were much lighter than the leather. I had quick feet, and I felt that was the best decision. It wasn’t. They felt great on the feet, don’t get me wrong, but I have never experienced a football boot have such a negative impact on ball control. If you were to ask any teammate I’ve played with they would all say about my control of a ball, but bloody hell when I put these boots on it went out the window overnight. I guess it didn’t help I was playing in Northern Ireland, where the majority of the time the pitch is slick, or it’s raining, but I have never experienced anything like it. They felt great whilst shooting or passing though, loved them for that. Wouldn’t recommend.

Pantafola D’Oro Lazzarini - I always saw these boots online whilst browsing, and for some reason wanted to try them. I bought them for a laugh a good number of years ago, and bloody hell. I mentioned within the AdiPure part that it felt like playing in fluffy slippers, well. let me tell you. These boots were like having s*x for the first time in 6 months. They were like that moment when you get into bed with freshly cleaned sheets. Your feet were tantalised into a warm bed of cotton balls, incredible. Aside from the comfort, not a overly impressive boot. Nothing stood out, and I don’t feel like they would last more than two years, simply due to how soft the leather is. If anyone needs a new pair of slippers mind, buy these and cut the studs off.

Adidas Predator Powerswerve - Without a doubt the BEST boot ever made. I think i’ve probably had about fifteen different pairs of Powerswerve’s, and all in different colour ways. I was always the type that could never have the same boot twice, and the variations of the Powerswerve made that easy. They were the perfect combination of everything, with the perfect amount of leather which made them comfortable but didn’t take away the feel of the ball. They were heavier than your Vapors or F50’s, but they didn’t falter much in the speed department. The way the leather was moulded on the exterior of the boot made wrapping your foot around the ball have such ease it was like taking candy from a baby, whilst the extended tongue which was held down with a wrap allowed for putting your foot through the ball with similar ease. The aesthetic of the boot as well, extraordinary. It was my biggest regret, in terms of football boot selection, when I moved away from these. Couldn’t recommend another boot higher.

I have tried other boots, such as Puma King’s, Nike Mercurial’s with the ankle sock, Puma evoSpeed’s, Adidas World Cup’s, Adidas Copa’s to name but a few. None are really worth mentioning anything about.

In a 4 at the back Skriniar was one of the highest rated centre backs in the world.

Conte has come in, changed the system to 3 at the back and Skriniar has become lost positionally, and ultimately as a defender when you are lost positionally you are lost defensively.

Hence why he has been dropped. A shame for Inter as they have such a great defender sitting on their bench, however they are playing miles better as an overall unit.

Heeds the reason why Sir Alex was famously known not for buying the best players in the world, but the players who best fit the system. Talent isn’t everything.
