I was on holiday in Lommel in Belgium this week. We nipped over the border into Eindoven and did the Philips stadium tour at PSV. I took the opportunity to ask the guide about Depay. The guide said that the PSV team were playing more like individuals looking to get a move to a bigger club. The guide also confirmed that Van Gaal had a big interest in Depay and if he came for Depay he would quite likely go. It doesn't sound like much but the guide was very cautious in answering and definitely gave me the feeling this was more than rumours. Obviously the guide was Dutch but at one point said he (Depay) has been very good for PSV. This was in the context of as if he would not play for PSV any further. Difficult to put into words but I'm sure you know where I'm coming from.

1.) If reports are to be believed we look to be interested in signing Shaw, Hummels/Martins-Indi, Carvalho & Depay. I still think we need that creative spark in midfield, unless Rooney is seen as that player? I would love someone like Kroos/Cesc.

Hopefully Chelsea can strike a deal for Filipe, leaving Shaw for us. Hopefully we can get Hummels, but Indi seems like a decent alternative according to our Dutch correspondent Shappy. We still have an interest in Carvalho, but he's probably a back-up.

I don't know much about Depay, but LvG does and anyone is a better option than Young. I suspect Adnan will improve. Zaha will probably get a chance. I will bug 002 for one of his monster posts on Monday so no doubt we will know more. Can't wait.

Anderson is chatting to Santos in regards to a loan if rumours are to be believed, if that's the case then it seems LvG doesn't fancy him either. Nani still a difficult one, but I'd probably rather keep Nani ahead of Young. Young could interest QPR and West Ham United surely?

2.) Agree with much of what you have said Sydney. Shaw is clearly the target, Hummels is the centre back he wants but I think that we will get Indi. Depay is the ideal player, I think he would have Reus or Di Maria but I don't think we would get them. Maybe go for Reus next year when the clause is in effect. Strootman I think is the main target I think, we could move for Schweinsteiger, possibly Clasie and perhaps these Koke rumours have legs.

Couldn't say who we will get, it I think they are the front runners.

3.) Syd depay is very good, him and januzaj together 3 yrs down the line would be immense and they would still contribute now but if they mature playing together then mu future is great.

4.) Anderson going to Brazil could open doors for us over there with new young talent. If Santos (one of the best clubs) take him then at least Woody has a contact!

5.) Quincy promes looks good aswell! I think he should be looked at too - at u21 he distroyed scotland!

Not posted for a while but have heard the deals with the most progress are Muller in and Hernandez out (Italy). Also Nani out progressing again Italy bound.

ManUmicK

1.) Nani Hernandez out Muller in can see that happening

2.) I can see Kroos and Robben being more likely to sign for us that Muller. Kroos seems to want the move with his contractual situation and the ed has said that Bayern would be willing to sell Robben.

SlySportsNews just reported Fabregas considering his future. Fingers crossed.

ManUmicK

1.) Yessssss

2.) Just heard this my self from the same source. Got to be something in this has why would united keep going back with another offer. They definitely know something whether it is the player wants to come himself or his agent wants him to move or barca are willing to sell at the right price. Somebody has told united that there is a good chance he will move to us. fingers crossed would be an excellent signing for us and will be the start of a few more signings I would think.

M. U. F. C Salford

3.) Sly are probably just trying to stir up the betting markets. Their "sources" are nowhere near reliable.

REDFAITH

4.) I'm not getting my hopes up with any midfielder or any player at that il believe it when I see him holdin a united jersey. A few weeks ago thaigo agreed and #uck all happened. there's no point in livin in transfer dreamland.

Dufferz

5.) Dufferez
U can count on paul scholes though. lolsss

Rodio17

6.) Dufferz, I think you may have come to the wrong website then.

Ozwald

7.) I've got to agree with REDFAITH there, one of the eds said this a while ago about stories to get the bets moving, spot on

8.) The only thing stopping Cesc from signing is the fact that we have not had a clear out of the sub standard players we have in our squad. Hopefully Moyes will realise what all us supporters have come to realise:- Evra, Nani, Welbeck, Buttner, Anderson, Cleverley, Young, Macheda and Bebe are not and will never be good enough for United.

We need to invest heavily in some decent squad players as well as top class players rather than papering over the cracks!

9.) We never got thaigo because we never made a bid for him as we was not interested was just paper talk. all our business is in public now only bids we have made are for baines and fab

reddevil69

10.) I really disagree with welbeck. I think he is a huge threat to the opposition. Performed in big games like real last year.

11.) No Name,
There are always some substandard players in the team. Because they don't make a big fuss about being on the bench. The players you have named, apart from Evra and Young are all 2nd choices or even 3rd choices. Can you have Baines and Evra in the same team or maybe Lewondowski, RVP, Rooney in same sqaud and keep them happy?

12.) I haven't been his biggest fan over the last couple of yrs but I think we should keep Evra for another yr. What he needs is some support in the form of a top left winger who tracks back. The money would be better spent elsewhere

I get the feeling fabregas may be stringing us along. He owes us nothing and Being an arsenal fan he is probably just doing them a favour by delaying our transfer activity. This is the best opportunity they will ever have to finish above us. it's worrying that we are only a couple of weeks away from charity shield and not one player signed who will have chance to have a pre season with us. On a positive note zaha has looked good. I think we need him for the coming season.

Dan h

13.) Squad players! We have those in abundance! Welbeck, Hernandez, cleverly, Anderson, jones, Evans, smalling and dare I say young! That's back up for every area of the pitch.

We need quality in the middle and on the left wing.

14.) Dream on

NE Gooner

15.) Have a feeling the influence of messi is the reason martino got the barca job, and with messi and fabregas being such good friends messi has influence on keeping him at barca

16.) Ozwald

Ha yeah I totally agree and I love this site but over the past few seasons me heads just been wrecked with the constant links to world class midfielders granted we got kagawa but we played him outa position. it's just hedious man.

17.) 23 Jul 2013 21:36:42
Nothing to do with the fact that bookies stand to make a lot of money by the stories these guys generate.
Burgerbrains

18.) Yeah I know how you feel! I love the excitement surrounding potential transfers but I also hate all the speculating.

Ozwald

19.) The un named poster say he has a feeling messi influences the barca job, would that because that exactly what he said in his press conference when he got the job. Genius thinking not

Just heard the delay in signing Vidal is down to him trying to grow a massive Afro style hairstyle. He is concerned how much money was wasted on silly wigs 12 months ago and thinks will help him bond with the fans. Heard from my Mum's, dog's, auntie who owns a kebab shop near Carrington.

Just looking at the tables and fixtures. Throwing some realistic estimates together we should pick up approx 30 more points. The current top 3 are way out of touch after the Stoke defeat IMO. We have a very slim chance of 4th but this would depend on us being lucky and Liverpool being unlucky. They would need to pick up about 75% of the points we do until end of the season. Unless Suarez gets a knock I can't see it. Everton however are in range in the Euro slot. Now after you have stopped cursing and spitting this is to me key to summer signings and possible departures. Keep an eye on the scousers, red and blue.

ManUmicK

1.) I would rather finish 7th than 5th or 6th. Being in the Europa next season would be a nightmare for us, unless we just used the reserve and youth players', to give them experience.

21 Jan 2014 08:22:07
I think if Mata is being offered out we should go for it. Still has a good 6 years left in him if not more. He will be happy to play every game to try and get in the World Cup squad. We were offering 35 mill for Fabregas who IMO isn't as good. A great chance to inject the creativity we need with Fletch or Afroman mopping up behind. This could turn the season and DM's doubters.

I can understand that people are not available in January for transfer.

Surely with the contacts we have at Utd there must be 1 or 2 players we can loan to boost the wasteland known as midfield.

There are a lot of peole under the watchful eye of scouts who are maybe's. Is this not am opportunity to try before you buy?

ManUmicK

1.) 06 Jan 2014 10:16:36
Madrid gets whom they want, and whenever they want.

{Ed004's Note - Didnt get Nyemar or Lewandowski recently and had to wait longer than they wanted for Ronaldo. Also didnt get Schweinsteiger or Vidal}

2.) 06 Jan 2014 10:22:03
Scouting system?. We haven't found a real gem Since Ronaldo.

3.) 06 Jan 2014 10:37:49
Attitude:

In my eyes, Januzaj will be a superstar, same with Powell and possibley Lingard.

4.) "We haven't found a real gem Since Ronaldo.".

We have. Bebe.

Doh!

5.) 06 Jan 2014 10:34:01
Ed04, But they got Bale, They would get Suarez next summer, and Once Alonso move out, they would get whom they want 100%

6.) Eh Pogba, Ravel, Adnan. Don't talk silly Attitude.

7.) 06 Jan 2014 11:04:12
Sydney.

Pogba is at Juve, Ravel at Westham currently, Adnan with us, not too long if we drop out of CL.

8.) We have let two of the three go though Sydney - it's no good scouting players and letting them leave after developing them.

9.) Missing the point, Attitude says our club haven't found a real gem since Ronaldo, wrong, we found and developed the three I mentioned. It's irrelevant whether they are still here or not. That wasn't my point.

10.) 06 Jan 2014 12:24:26
Sydney.
Thats Irrevelant, End of the day they aren't Manchester United players, and I don't see janugz being here for long term without CL football

11.) Attitude, how is it "irrelevant" that we DID identify talent, contradictory to what you said. You have very poor banter skills mate, grow up a little bit.

12.) RF, I would save it mate. It isn't registering.

I received some twaddle about us going for Pastore due to Pjanic staying at Roma?
What is that about?

Any murmurs Ed?

I am reading the same thing. Also reading we bid for Muller two weeks ago. If Fabregas is announced at Bayern I can see one of them coming to Man U. Remember Schweinsteiger is 29 so not as young as some may realise. I can see Guardiola letting him go and using Kroos instead with Fabregas and Thiago in front. I can't see Muller to be honest, I just think he is ruffling his feathers. He is Munich through and through. I'm going to stick my neck out and say best scenario will be Schweinsteiger, Hummels, Shaw and Depay to come in.

I just cannot see either moving in Jan if at all unless there is silly money involved. Why would Juventus offload their best midfield pairing? I can't see the desire from the players being the driver, so what is?

I believe it was to watch Marchisio. Moyes must be keen to go in person.

How has this not happened? We agree to pay and player agrees terms wtf is going on? Imposters at la liga? I hope this is a bad dream.

If this is the case it will no doubt be a different view of valuation and appropriate wages. It may also be a case of waiting for Bale to sign to start the transfer chain or in contrast this could be the delay on Bale going? I'm sure its something like that which is causing the current Bale and Ozil reported strops.

If Rooney commits within the next few weeks I will be behind him. If he waits to see if we get a CL spot before deciding to stay or go then many suspicions will be proved. Hopefully Wayne will show he is committed to rolling his sleeves up and getting the club that made him a great through this transition. Quite a pivotal moment for the team ahead. This to me is his opportunity to take a brave and natural next step into a position as captain that could put his name in the history books as a true Man U legend.

If you sit back and look at the current situation, we have lost two major people in Gill and SAF with regards to any high profile strategy at the club. The dynamics of the EPL have changed in that it is about how much your owners are willing to spend on success. Chelsea spent big to win the EPL years back then reigned it in and we won the title back. They are now spending again and are back up there. City are spend spend spend and are up there. You can argue that others up there haven't spent but let's be honest, come April, City and Chelsea look more likely to be competing for the title. Arsenal have a tough list ahead and then at the end of the season. Liverpool are a one man show at the moment but that isn't a title winning formula. We have had a massive period of success over the last two decades. Change will throw this out of the window. I do think we will still be in the top four come May but it won't just fall into place as in previous seasons under SAF. There are only two windows available to Moyes to mould his team over a season. The first as we know was a complete farce and mistakes were made. I can't see any major change in the Jan window but I will reserve judgement to see if lessons were learned until the end of the upcoming summer window. Give the new guys a chance, after all it has only been 6 months since Moyes took over and only 4 since the team started under him.

Heard MUFC reps at La liga HQ to pay release clause pending medical in Spain. Fellani should be at Carrington within the hour. Left Evertons training ground just before 8pm.

Welshy, I still think we will have 2-3 in by the close of the window. If we sign Fellani and Luis as rumoured this morning I'm opening an Afro wig stall outside OT. Zaha still needs more experience at a higher level, that was plain to see when he was brought on for England the other week. Not sure about Kagawa but don't think he has been 100% fit but think he will play a part against Liverpool. I'm hoping for a triple signing this week, Fellani, Luis and Modic. Cross everything, come on DM cheque book out son!
