Are the contracts of Darmian, Herrera, Jones, Mata, Rojo, Romero, Smalling and Young coming to an end by this season? Of course, club has the option to extend Darmian's contract by another year. Do you guys feel that any of the contracts needs to be extended? I feel that Mata, Herrera and Romero can be handed a contract. I would not extend / invoke the one year extend of Darmian just to ensure that he gets the play the game somewhere, rather than warming our bench. Of the rest, I would not hand them any contract. That should free some wages too.

1.) 31 Oct 2018 10:05:38
Mata, Herrera stay, rest can leave. would give Mata a year-one rolling contract tbf.

2.) 31 Oct 2018 11:22:34
I think Romero signed a new contract recently.

3.) 31 Oct 2018 11:23:39
Keep Mata, Herrera Romero, Martial and de Gea but rest can go. Its lot of bodies to replace though. Would have to be a few stepping up from the academy.

4.) 31 Oct 2018 15:30:50
I think it would make no difference whatsoever to the quality of our squad if Tuanzebe replaced Jones/ Rojo and Fosu-Mensah replaced Darmian. Would save lots of wages and there’s no need to pay a fee to replace them. Pereira could be Number 2 and let Romero go too and it wouldn’t bother me.

Hello Ed001,
I would like to know your opinion United signing Sancho.
-> How do you rate his as a player and his mentality?
-> I vaguely remember that Sancho was 8th in the last season's best Right winger. would like to know whether he has moved high or low in that list.
-> Whether our RW problem would be resolved?
-> Who should be dropped in the starting line-up for accommodating him?
-> I've Read some reports that he is better when playing from the left, is it the case?

I understand that I have asked for 5 questions and sorry, for over working me.

Final question, are you complete recovered, now?

Thanks mate,
Take care.

Manchesterunitedrumours

{Ed001's Note - I think he is a name signing, like Pogba, rather than because he is the best option. I have no idea where he would be in the list now, but he has had a fair few disciplinary problems at Dortmund, skipping training and the like, and he wants to go to Chelsea. I am not convinced he is going to be the player he could be and defo not the player the media seems to think he is. His attitude is a worry and if you add that to going to a club he doesn't really want to be at, you would fear Sancho would not be giving his all. I personally would just say don't buy him, though he is an upgrade on the current options, his attitude could infect the youngsters at the club.

I have only seen him play on the left as a late sub and couldn't possibly judge him on those appearances. I certainly don't think signing him would solve any problems, just cause others imo. He is a good player, but nowhere near great, so I would not say the risk is worth it. I can't see who he would replace except Greenwood, and I am not convinced that would be a good thing to do.

Yes, fully recovered now, thanks. No signs of any of the issues associated with the long variant at all fingers crossed it stays that way.}

1.) 09 Jun 2021 09:43:59
Thanks Ed001 for your opinion :)
Glad to hear that you are fully recovered:)

{Ed001's Note - very welcome mate and cheers I am so glad to be rid of it!}

2.) 09 Jun 2021 10:25:16
I agree that making Sancho the priority this summer smacks of just attempting to buy the fans off and kill the Glazer out movement.

Good player, potentially great. But as Ed001 says he doesn't come without his issues.

Also for me RW is the third priority this summer and not first. A top class CDM and then a top class CB have to be the priority.

the way I look at it is had we signed Sancho last summer would we have achieved more this season? Maybe we would have scored a few more goals, but we didn't drop points for a lack of goals, we dropped points by giving away silly and easily avoidable goals.

Now if we had Varane and Rice in our side this past season instead of Lindelof and Fred, maybe Pogba or Donny could have been involved more in the pivot, and we certainly wouldn't have dropped silly points by giving away simple goals at set pieces. That might have got us closer to City, and it might have got us to another final.

3.) 09 Jun 2021 11:55:29
Agree Shappy, a top class CDM and CB would have enabled us to push the whole team further up the pitch.
Rice and Varane are obvious top choices.
I also do like Kounde and Zakaria.

For RW spot, I wouldn't mind getting Rapinha, considering Leeds had prior interest in Dan James.

4.) 09 Jun 2021 10:50:56
Greenwood is a difficult one for me. I don't see where the club want him to play. Is he deployed as a RW or a Striker? If he is to remain a RW then the Sancho signing would definitely halt his progress, unless the intention is to play him as a Striker on rotation with Cavani.

Agree with Shappy that a RW is not a top priority. If we were looking at Dortmund players I would rather sign Bellingham to replace Fred and maintain Greenwood at RW. If Diallo can maintain his first team push then he would be suitable cover for Greenwood.

I think the issue is there isn't enough squad depth in any position at the minute.

{Ed001's Note - now Bellingham would be worth going all in for.}

5.) 09 Jun 2021 12:23:19
TRD, I like Raphinha and he's an obvious choice beyond Sancho. I'd imagine the total package (transfer fee, wages and agents fee) would be maybe a third of what Sancho would cost. While he is EPL proven.

I also like the look of Pedro Neto, unfortunately he will likely still be injured at the start of next season. I don't think its a good idea to sign injured players. They are often rushed back amid pressure to prove themselves at their new club which can often aggravate injuries and cause longer term issues.

6.) 09 Jun 2021 14:12:04
which new signing at any club have o been rushed back and what are the injuries these imaginary players aggravated when being rushed back by their new club. You don't half talk some crap🤣🤣🤣 often means regularly please name me 12 and what injuries they have aggravated. that should keep you busy on Google for a while🤣.

7.) 09 Jun 2021 14:21:36
Agreed Ed, I would rather we look at him in the first instance. He is a lot more versatile in the middle and would probably come without the drama.

{Ed001's Note - and is a massive upgrade on Fred.}

8.) 09 Jun 2021 16:44:11
Well someone got out of bed the wrong side this morning. 😠.

9.) 09 Jun 2021 16:56:13
Shame the Ed’s don’t stamp down on it to be honest, getting silly.

10.) 09 Jun 2021 17:12:16
Ken, at your age I guess your memory is fading. After ballsing up signing Owen Hargreaves and going back in for him a year later (where have we heard that one before) they eventually signed him while he was carrying an injury.

Then because the club didn't want to look silly chasing a player for over a year to only sign him and him immediately needing surgery that would keep him out for an extended amount of time. The club instead got him to play for the season with pain killing injections. The following summer his knees were shot and he needed surgery. He never fully recovered and spent the rest of his time at the club almost constantly coming back from injury.

That is why I don't agree with signing players who are injured. It adds extra pressure on both the club and the player to rush them back.

Hello Ed,
Will the C.V. and Sancho contract (one less than last summer) have impact on the asking price of Dortmund, when compared to last year? last summer the cost of buying Sancho was around 250 million Euros (including Transfer fee, Agent fee, Insurance fee, etc., ) .

Manchesterunitedrumours

{Ed002's Note - Dortmund are potentially selling a whole bunch of players and Sancho is being offered around again but I am not aware if it has got as far as discussing money.}

1.) 18 Feb 2021 16:49:54
Thanks Ed for the update. Have a nice day.

Hi Ed002,
You had told there would be more clarity at the end of this month with respect to filip stevanovic. I think one of the posters mentioned that loan deal cannot be completed before he turns 18. Today, he turns 18 and we are almost at the end of the month, is there any more news on filip stevanovic to Man United?

Thanks,
Paul.

{Ed002's Note - Not this morning.}

Ed001,
Greetings Ed. Good day.
Do you think that Man United board realised that sacking managers is not the solution, with wrong manager on-board ?

Thanks,
Pal

Manchesterunitedrumours

{Ed001's Note - yes, that is a very good way to sum it up. They need to sack this particular manager, but they are desperate not to do so. It is a real problem.}

1.) 03 Jan 2020 23:29:42
if we get beat by wolves and spanked by city i think most fans will turn.

2.) 03 Jan 2020 23:13:48
We lack a real leader is the whole club, one that makes strong decisions, gives clarity. Embarrassing situation.

3.) 03 Jan 2020 23:58:05
Thanks Ed001.
The supporters see lots of positives and negatives. Do you see any negative other than the negatives that are being daily discussed such as Not turning for a match against top 6, consistently., Failure to make make subs at the right time, players yet to pull more than 4/ 5 passes together, etc.,
What do think about Jesse Lingard as a player and his last year form? Do he still warrant a place ahead of Pierrera?

Sorry for too many questions mate.
Have a great day, Ed.

{Ed001's Note - I think Ole is just so weak it is embarrassing and I hate seeing a manager grim gormlessly at the best of times, but to do it when your team has just been beaten makes me fear for his mental health.

Lingard is not as bad as some United fans like to make it, but he is not good enough to be a starter. He is like a worse version of John O'Shea, a cover player for injuries and should only play when you are missing a few players. He clearly is missing something in the mentality department, as he lacks that drive and fire to win. Lingard works hard, but it is not all out for the cause, it lacks that focus of a winner. I would have to wonder about the way he has been trained over the years as his technique does not seem to have done anything but get worse. To me he is a symptom of the weak squad, he should have been upgraded on by now and been sold on, instead he is still a key part of the squad.

Pereira is another one who should be, at best, a fringe player. He has shown no improvement and no genuine quality to be starting. Even now with a stretched squad you have to question why he is in the team. Why not Garner? Much better player already and he could be gaining experience and growing into the player he should be.}

4.) 04 Jan 2020 00:14:31
Ooooo here's hoping! *rubs hands in anticipation* 🙄.

5.) 04 Jan 2020 06:36:23
Hi Ed001, hope you're good. Have you heard any more about the training sessions/ coaching? I remember you saying earlier in the season that the players were finding the sessions too relaxed etc. Are the players still behind the manager?

{Ed001's Note - I haven't actually heard since, I will ask, but I would think most of the players are still with him as there have been very few rumblings about disagreements. Only Pogba, but he is trying to force his way out, so that is a different thing.}

6.) 04 Jan 2020 09:05:42
No wonder some of our talented youngsters want out ed001.

{Ed001's Note - it doesn't bode well for them. It is difficult though to try and keep them happy when they know there are other teams that can offer them a regular first team place. If you are Garner, Chong or Gomes sat there watching Lingard or Pereira play at the moment, neither seem to be offering anything, and you see Matic lumbering around in midfield and you are not getting a game, do you see a future for yourself?}

7.) 04 Jan 2020 10:06:45
I wouldn't if I was in there boots. And I'd be asking to get out the door. Seems to me that's what some are doing.

Even Williams who has played in recent games must scratch his had looking at Shaw getting his games.

{Ed001's Note - I really don't understand why Ole can't see that Shaw is not working out. His performances are concerning if you ask me. Admittedly he is not being helped by having that hopeless lump of wood next to him in defence and Matic in midfield lacks the mobility these days to get across and cover. But Shaw himself is just not doing enough to deserve a place. He offers no threat going forward and is hopeless defensively. Williams looks a genuine threat going forward and is decent defensively. Work with Williams and just explain to Shaw what he needs to do to win his place back. If Shaw isn't willing to do what is needed, then it is time to get rid.}

8.) 04 Jan 2020 10:54:25
ED001.

Hopeless piece of Wood, by that do you mean Maguire.

For me Shaw lack of positional awareness is glaringly obvious. He also looks unfit and struggles to track back. William's has the right attitude and has played very well. The kid is still learning. Its quite concerning that he is leading by example on the pitche, where players like Lingard arent.

Maguire's lackb of mobility and pace has always been a concern to me. His technique isn't particularly great either.

Lindelof is abit hit and miss as well. Perhaps it's a lack. of the right coaching aswell?

{Ed001's Note - yes mate I did mean Maguire. Terrible buy, you have to wonder why the scouts did not see that when I could. They are being paid to know these things but still aren't spotting them - worryingly.

Shaw really does seem to be just genuinely dense. He reminds me of when Moreno was at Liverpool, without the effort and fitness. He just charges forward with no thought and then needs to get his breath back. Williams is already well ahead of him imo.

Maguire has no positional sense either, which would make his lack of mobility, pace and technique less of a problem. Trouble is you see him after you have conceded and he is always in the wrong place and looking around for someone else to blame. Just get yourself in the right place to start with!

Lindelöf was looking a player before, but he seems to be getting worse. That does suggest coaching is an issue, as it is difficult to point to a single player that is looking to have improved.}

9.) 04 Jan 2020 13:34:00
Cheers ED001.

Another thing aswell. Maguire has missed some sitters with his head this season aswell.

Imagine what he will be like when he is 30, 31 and has lost some more pace. Its embarrassing watching him struggle so easily.

{Ed001's Note - how did any scout think he was worth a world record fee? This is the problem when you limit them to looking for Brits. There is so little choice.}

10.) 04 Jan 2020 16:16:35
Thank you ed, there were plenty better options out there than Maguire yet the club were fixated on him and happy to get rinsed. Leicester must be laughing there backsides off at us.

{Ed001's Note - it was because he was British. }

11.) 04 Jan 2020 21:34:28
I still think lindelof is a far better CB and will be okay providing that we update our coach.
