Whilst I agree with all the posts that Vidic has been a great Player for us, let's be fair; he has been paid an obscene amount of money to do his job!

Does this not smack of a complete lack of business acumen by the Utd heirarchy in letting someone run down there contract. could we not have sold him now for a nominal fee (or even cancelled by mutual concent). I appreciate there would have to be some sort of negotiation as Vidic is going to get a big fat signing on fee in the summer, nonetheless I'm sure this could have been worked out.

Instead we are paying one of our top earners for another 20weeks whilst guaranteed he will play week in week out based upon his injury record, when we could have had a replacement brought in and becomming settled prior to next season and avoided the quadrennial world cup hangover price rises!

It is also somewhat strange that Vidic has chosen to come out with this statement when Evra and Rio are in the same situation and yet have said nothing, . why?

Mr X

1.) To be fair Vidic is on half the amount Terry is on and he has been a very good servant. His missus wanted him to move years ago, but he stuck around. MU are going through a rebuild now and it's a good time for all parties to go their separate ways. The club could have sold him and Ferdinand several times, but chose to keep them, perhaps if Vidic hadn't had a bad injury then he may have been sold in the summer, but I guess we will never know for sure.

2.) Syd,

It's good for all parties but IMO, it was NEVER a mutual agreement.

Vidic didn't make any mention of reaching a mutual agreement with the club. He just said he felt it was time to go. A few hours later, out comes Moyes with his 'mutual agreement' claims. This, IMO, is just damage limitation. I'm not saying for one minute that we ever intended offering Vida a new contract, but I'm fairly certain that he made up his own mind and Moyes' words are an attempt at lessening the blow.

Especially in the wake of Rio being a person on Twitter, and Anderson's supposedly fake comments about several players 'wanting out'. Last thing Moyes would want is the fans to have the impression that everyone is jumping ship.

I would bet any money that there was never a mutual agreement.

3.) Vidic was always going to leave this summer mate. But I agree that Moyes wanted an extra year out of him.

4.) Syd

I agree i'm not even saying for sure that Moyes still wanted him, i'm just convinced that Vidic made his decision, spilled the beans and Moyes issued that statement for damage limitation.

5.) Saw the interview and it sounds like Vidic decided to leave.

6.) With Moyes saying he's the best CB he's ever worked (no surprise there), I think he was working hard to keep him for one more year. It was definitely not mutual.

7.) Sydney

I felt the Moyes effort to say it was mutual was a face saving exercise

So now it seems Rafael & Fabio 'can leave in the summer'. Fabio I can undestand, although i'd still like to see him given more time to see if he can develop further, . but letting Rafael go and getting in Coleman! Why not solve our midfield issues with Steven Piennar and Leon Osman while we are at it!

Mr X

1.) Calm down, don't panic over a story on tv. And don't forget it's only a game!

Here's wishing all the Everton Fans would get a grip, I realise there may be some long words in there but how about reading all the lines rather thean between them.

'Everton can confirm that it has received bids from Manchester United for two players. Those bids were immediately rejected out of hand as derisory and insulting.
The Club did not make public these details as it was vital Roberto Martinez's preparations for the opening game of the Premier League season were not disrupted in anyway.
Alan Myers
Director of Communications'

Also, in respect of Baines, Martinez himself stated: "Before we went to Austria one club officially contacted ourselves with an offer, and it was a final offer. They put something over and the valuation wasn't anywhere near the quality of Leighton Baines. That was the end of it but since then, there's been all the speculation, which has been part of what the transfer window is. There's never been another club or anyone else putting in an offer for Leighton. Since then, we've moved on and we're continuing to focus on the start of the season."

This all suggets that a £16m bid was made for Fellaini last week and that Everton were told the £12m for Baines is still on the table, no more!
Nowhere does it appear to say a joint bid of £28m was made!

My belief is an opening offer of £16m for Fellaini is fair and Everton will sell for £20m plus add ons. Irrespective of what some on here may think he would be improvement upon on current midfield options.
I for one don't want Baines, . Keeping Evra, Buying Coentrao, Buttner out on loan, Fabio as back up to Raphael, makes much more sense, both in terms of immediate financial gain and long term planning.

A double deal with 'that Mob' for Coentrao and Modric, with Fellaini also arriving and I'd consider that a good window!

So what do Old Trafford and Holidaying in Bodrum have in common,. you're likely to get robbed by a Turk in either!

Mr X

1.) I for one will never set foot in that place. And united fans should all do the same. They hate our teams anyway, so why give them our hard earned cash? Sorry but no chance.

Marquinhos plus 30Mil anyone? We can but dream.
After watching the Swansea game and Di Maria ambling about I just sense his heart isn't in it!
Hope I am proved wrong now with the sort of match winning performances he was putting in at the end of last season, .but I sadly suspect I won't be!

Wouldn't mind seeing Pique return: at the right price of course. Maybe a change of Club might see his form return. At 27 he's still young enough to have long term value, whilst having more big game experience than our back line put together. Furthermore speaking both Spanish and English would undoubtedly improve the communication at the back, which I believe is the major problem at the moment!

If all those unhappy at the Ed's response are so concerned about it then perhaps they ought cancel their subscription fees and therefore diminish the Ed's earnings!
Oh my mistake, their are no fees, we come on here for free, say what we like and expect the Ed's to take it on the chin!
Get a grip people!

Personally would be happy to sacrifice Di Maria to fund a Bale deal. I would prefer a front three of Depay, Rooney/RVP, Bale. Depay cutting in from the Left and Shooting with the right, Bale cutting in from the Right shooting with his left. Mata back to his No 10 roll with Gundogan, Carrick, Herrera, covering the two deeper midfield positions, propped up by a Hummels controlled defence would be a well balanced team I think.
All said and done though I Still think our most important signing this summer would be a certain Mr De Gea!

Totally agree, interesting also to see how certain players form combinations and bring out the best in one another, . I thought Herrera injected some pace into Mata's play thus allowing Rooney and RVP to fine those pockets of space or drag away defenders and not have to come deep ball hunting all the time.
Keane (and Butt) brought the best out of Scholes, Beckham and Neville, Cole and Yorke, Even Hargreaves and Anderson (albeit for about 4 games at the beginning of 2007/08 season). I think we may have seen the start of something similar.

Rooney's performances are somewhat of a moot point! Can anyone think of a world class performance from England?
I'm a proud Englishman who loves his country, but I just can't get enthused about our national team,.everytime I watch them at the moment all I can think after each game is: Who's going to give me that 90mins of my life back?
