I wonder how hard United 'Tried' to sign these players?
Toby Alderweireld? Wanted to join us, Spurs wanted to sell, not a word about it.
Boeteng? Jose 'wanted' him, board didn't He didn't want to join, then he did?
Maguire? Wanted us but his club wouldn't sell? Fair enough.
Mina? We were interested and he's signing for Everton?
Godin? Just another player looking for a payrise.
Call me a cynic but someones telling porkies!

OT7 good player Toby if spurs are so keen to sell him why has no one else him?

2.) 09 Aug 2018 17:27:35
I think other teams are happy to wait for his contract to run down jred. Don't forget the European teams can still go for him too. don't mind me i'm here in peace, just like to read opinions.

3.) 09 Aug 2018 17:29:08
We only get the paper talk, how close any of these supposed deals were is only known by those involved.

4.) 09 Aug 2018 17:33:03
Lfc
Nothing wrong with that 75 mill for a player you could buy for 25 mil in 12 month .
In fact you could prob get him for half that in January.

5.) 09 Aug 2018 17:46:05
Hopefully we do jred. If the new manager wants him of course.

6.) 09 Aug 2018 17:58:40
Jred, re Toby, a fantastic CB, the reason no one came in for him is Levy wanted £70m and in a year's time, he can go for £25m. No one had the money or the will to pay £70m for him now (United had the money but not the will) . I can see why we didn't stump up the money. I think this one has backfired on Mr. Levy big style.

7.) 09 Aug 2018 18:01:49
Mort
Hopefully lindelof and bailly step up .
Not all about signing new players.

8.) 09 Aug 2018 18:21:20
Aaa
Exactly.
Rumour is we offered 60 mil for Maguire. Decent player Maguire but I wouldn't be paying 75 mil for him or Toby you have to draw a line somewhere.

9.) 09 Aug 2018 18:42:54
The time for
Lindelof and Bailly is now 😎.

10.) 09 Aug 2018 19:01:49
Sice signing lindelof, i have watched a lot of his games from his pre-utd days.

If he can bring his 'A' game consistently, along side an injury free bailly (who i think is a fantastic cb) then we will be sound at the back.

Its all iffs tho.

Rooney playing like a captain. Looking muh better.

So. What next for LvG? As much as I think Jose would get us trophies, it worries me that these raw, uncut diamonds we have mined will never get to be polished and shine, instead replaced with a group of £30M mercenaries. With LvG they will be given their heads in a team that now plays the United way, off the cuff, constant movement and exciting surprises. I never thought this problem would arise. Well done United and well done LvG!

OT7

1.) 28 Feb 2016 16:56:20
And what next for Wayne Rooney?

2.) 28 Feb 2016 17:00:12
what if we don't play well wednesday are all the players crap again.

3.) 28 Feb 2016 17:04:02
Would you drop Martial or Rashford? I wouldn't. Could Roo drop into midfield? I think these two are going to explode on the Premier league.

4.) 28 Feb 2016 17:13:58
Roo into midfield for who? Herrera no, Schneiderlin no, mata no. So not for me.

5.) 28 Feb 2016 17:16:07
martial will walk back into the team.
rashford has made a great start but he will be a year or 2 at least from being a first team regular .
martial has played his best footy on the left but he will end up a striker imo.

6.) 28 Feb 2016 17:20:08
herrera and schids where excellent today wanted these 2 as cm all season.
mata was average imo.

7.) 28 Feb 2016 17:22:19
Trying not to think about anything except how made up I am today absolutely fantastic performance and some of the kids coming through give me absolute blind hope for the future what a day enjoy it everyone 😃.

8.) 28 Feb 2016 17:50:20
Well Roo would get us more goals from midfield than any of the others, but they have their plusses too. Well its not my problem so with City going ahead, I'm going to enjoy my day.

9.) 28 Feb 2016 17:53:33
I think people need to calm down, very good win today and the young players did well, let's enjoy that. Great to see Fosu Mensah get on as well. These uncut diamonds as the OP put it, well some may remain uncut, it's early days even though they look the part. Rashford looks a natural and sometimes that step up is too much for some, not for him.

One point I haven't seen anyone write was that the Varela cross for the first goal was very Beckham like, take a look and think on the comparison of techniques. Interesting we got crosses in today and I wonder if that was something that came out of the player suggestions.

10.) 28 Feb 2016 18:20:06
Why calm down redman? Why can't we enjoy?
I am fully aware we won nothing today but I don't care I'm happy with everything Manchester United today😃.

11.) 28 Feb 2016 18:24:35
You know what I wouldn't have issues with Darmain leaving in the summer, I think Varela should be our RB for the rest of the season, he has come on leaps and bounds, delighted to see these youngsters stepping up.

12.) 28 Feb 2016 19:46:01
Why does darmian have to leave? can't we have two players battling for one position. With the injuries we've had we need to keep as many defenders as we can lol.

13.) 28 Feb 2016 17:31:21
This time last week a lot on here had us down for 3 defeats this week, 11 goals and a new young hero later and the season may have just turned right around. Or is somebody going to tell me we should be beating Arsenal like we should have won the last 2?

This morning I read a post saying we will lose today and 12 behind city by the time we play them, if we win on Wednesday and they lose at Anfield we would be level with them, has top 4 still gone like everyone kept telling me? We kicked on at this stage last season and when I suggested that the other day I was laughed at, let's hope this result brings with it the optimism that supporting our great club should bring.

Great feeling today, that is what football should be about, bring on the next few games, they will be tough but we should all be looking forward to them for a change.

14.) 28 Feb 2016 20:12:11
I could not agree more GDS! i'm enjoying this season loads its got its ups its downs, its dramas, iv done my fair share of moaning but at the end of the day we should all get behind them 100 percent. I was in the stretford end today and the same group who had been chanting for jose at the start were singing LVG's red white army at the end! Funny old game.

15.) 28 Feb 2016 20:47:05
Top post gds a very good week indeed.
As yazz and her population said"the only way is up" 😁.

16.) 28 Feb 2016 20:23:34
you think they may look at playing both down the right with varela acting as a winger?

26 Nov 2015 08:46:12
I left it until the morning after to post as I was too angry last night.
This was supposed to be the night when we qualified fore KO stage of the CL and a time to celebrate the life of a true United legend. Well I'm not sure whether George would want to play for this United.
Safety first fooball, no adventure and supporters leaving 10 minutes from the end when the team they all love are fames for late goals.
LvG has still not got the message as to what managing United is all about. We want to watch excitement for 90 minutes in a stadium that houses all of our dreams and where the edges of the seats are worn through. That was all a long time ago.
When you look at our league place, all is rosey but our style of play is light years behind City, Arsenal and Liverpool and dare I say Leicester and Chelsea? We are no longer the United that even though we had our haters, they all secretly loved to watch us put on the style.
I hate to rubbish our players, especially when they have given us me great times but Wayne needs to go on holiday and decide what he wants. He hasn't been the player we bought for a very long time and there's no sign of him ever being that player again. We have 2 long sides of OT that are only used by our opponents as our use of Wingers is a thing of the past.
Like many on here, I wanted to switch off in the second half but that would be so wrong, yet many left the ground 10 minutes from the end and that shows the way many feel. LvG is killing United whilst Klopp seems to be breathing new life into Liverpool.
I only hope that unless something wonderful happens in the January window and OT turns back into the Theatre of Dreams, LvG packs his bags and leaves.

OT7,

No more than usual left the game with 10 to go mate, that has been happening for years, I don't really understand it, for one it is selfish as it means people behind them can't see while they stand up, then if something interesting happens as they are leaving they just stand there in front of you watching until somebody tells them to shift. If you have paid £40+ for a ticket why would you only watch 9/10s of what you came to see? I've never left early and don't intend to any time soon.

I saw something on Twitter last night, it is mad so many United fans are calling for the manager's head when if we win on Saturday we go top of the league, but I guess that ignores the bigger problem here.

2.) 26 Nov 2015 09:11:46
Sorry, laptop keyboard is messing about.

3.) 26 Nov 2015 09:38:31
GDS2 Yes I know exactly what you mean. But really, right now, there's little likelihood of missing anything if people stand infront of you.
I will still want LvG gone even if we wallop Leicester and survive Vardy, s dives next weekend. All I want is to be entertained, and though LvG has bought enough good players that can entertain, he's not letting them. Its not too much to ask for is it? Cheers mate.

4.) 26 Nov 2015 12:23:51
GDS you say if we win we could be top which is true but if we don't win we could be 5th.

Tell me again how we don't need a striker LvG?

Don't worry. Woody will put in a bid of £25M. That'll shake 'em.

It seems like Lukaku might be going and with Ole preferring counter attacks, we could do worse than signing Vardy. If ever there was a striker that you could leave up on his own and have the ability to run defenders legs off, its him. Plus he has trouble standing up in and near the area so we'd get a few pens too.

The fruits of Ole's labours are not just being shown on the pitch. 3 Major players who were said to be on their way out are now talking about new contracts.7 wins from 7 so the boy is doing good.

There is little point in changing the manager while Woodward is there. Jose has been far from impressive but I still feel he sometimes signed who he was allowed to sign rather than who he wanted! The rot at United started in the boardroom!

It doesn't matter who the manager is or even the players, as long as Woody is there we will be a football club that is run for profit only. Soon we will drift down the league again but we'll have 76,000 in the stadium so as far as woody is concerned its all going well.
Ole will buy who he is told to buy, the main reason being price. If he's any good, that will be a bonus.
I watched us being beaten in every department last night. Fred ran around at 100mph with no clue where he was going. Centre backs that let a high dropping ball bounce to the side when they should be behind it, Lukaku couldn't trap a mouse, and Martial just doesn't have any fight in him. Would we choose him above RVN, Rooney, Ole, Sheringham, Cole, Yorke? Only Rashford would get near. Wheres Robson, Ince, and Keane. Wheres Pallister, Bruce, Ferdinand? That's how far away we are. We now have no players that could live with any of them. and Woodward will keep it that way until the money stops coming in.

The result was better than the performance, but right now Ole is giving the whole club a lift. IMO we were outplayed again for most of the game and as another 5 minutes against Burnley may have given us the 3 points, another 5 minutes against Leicester may have seen us drop 2. Swings and roundabouts. On we go.

I think OGS job has more to do with morale as anything else. Not sure about him long term but he will get the players happy and playing, hopefully Pogba and Sanchez. whatever else, they are great players. I still think we already have enough to get us up the league and if Ole gets their heads straight, life for whoever takes over in the summer will be easier. At the moment, we need our identity back and Ole can do that, get the shape and style going and the new manager will see things more clearly. Good luck Ole.

I think FZZ is spot on. Why would Poch want to come to us when he's worked so hard to get Spurs where they are? United are 3 or 4 years behind Spurs.
