Report on the tv tonight "United will not be looking to buy and sell "a huge number of players" this summer, according to executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward."

Oh deep joy. The excuse he used " it will de-stabilise the team"

Makes a change from "no value"

Red Snapper

1.) To be fair he actually said that transfer activity would be broadly in line with previous summers with circa 3 players being sold and a similar number coming in potentially 1 or 2 more. So potentially 5 players coming in which is roughly what people on here have been saying we need.

Let's just hope the yanks puppet does not make the same horlicks of it as he did last summer. I don't see why we don't hire David Gill as a negotiator/ facilitator for the the transfer windows. Does his current role preclude him from doing so due to conflicts of interest?

2.) 13 Feb 2014 13:35:38
Which makes sense if you think about it.

We need a left back, centre back and two midfielders. Not lots of signings in the scheme of things. Add to that some promoted youth.

Regards departures well evra, Rio, vidic and giggs are all out contract. No sales but four gone. We're not really going to count macheda and bebe are we? In terms of first team squad sales it looks like nani, Anderson and either or both kagawa and Hernandez. So lots leaving but not many sales.

3.) Huggy

Not a bad idea on Gill, certainly to consider his experience, although I heard he was a negotiator on the Mata deal but no idea if true.

4.) He did state it would not be a 'typical' Manchester United Transfer window where 3 come in and 3 go out. 5 is a realistic target, 3 key main well known targets. With maybe 2 young/fringe players also. Who these will be will be more interesting.
I'd love to see Vertonghen, Kroos and Reus as those 3. With maybe Moreno/Shaw, then a younger Center Mid; Halliovic for example. It'll certainly be an interesting one.

No mention of the atmosphere yesterday. Great show by the visitors, 30 minute version of "Busby Babes" and good to see a mixture of young and old faces. Top day, but soured by a top dressing down from the misses when I (eventually) got home!

Haven't been since Cantona got a couple there, but managed to get a ticket for Palace this weekend. Anyone got any info on pubs United fans attending the match go to in that area?

Red Snapper

1.) Sam platts is bouncing before games red snapper and also the blaize and the trafford. If you want a nice few pints to start off early though go into the railway club

2.) Damon I know those boozers VERY well. It's the ones near Selhurst Park I'm after mate!

3.) Damon,

Might be a bit of a distance to travel to palace from all of them!

4.) Ignore me mate blonde moment haha. I forgot we already done em 2 nil at home ini lol! Was u at selhurst in 96 against the crazy gang, 4-2 wernt it

5.) Yeah and when Boylie did his streak!

Anyone else catch us beating Leeds in 2001 on Sky this morning? We are 4-1 up and G Neville gives the ball away. Roy Keane gives him the mother of all boll#ckings.
Name one present day Utd player who would dish that out?

Red Snapper

1.) Cleverley seems to put his hands in the air, and move them around like he just doesn't care.

2.) Mick, I thought that post deserved much more acclaim. Every time I see him doing that now, I'll be singing to myself and chuckling.

3.) Mick, I will to. Chortle chortle

"lays no blame on anyone and thanked all the people he worked with"

Didn't notice any thanks for the players. many of them should be hanging their heads in shame. a lot acted like spoilt kids for his reign.get rid of a few of them as well, we know who they are.

Welcome fellow Red. Watched Gary Bailey on numerous occasions. I was behind the goal when he saved a couple (three maybe?) penalties away at Ipswich.we still lost 6-0.and people think things are bad this season!

No midfield: I think it's the whole Lancashire v Yorkshire nonsense. In Yorkshire they still think the war of the roses never ended. Spent many a hairy trip over there, also remember the horrible atmosphere when Cantona scored a great chip against SW. Small towns small minds etc

Great news Chris.

You've got a very special son ( not forgetting Mum!) to keep the Red flag flying!
