Mkhitaryan printed replica shirts are now available on the united online shop, guess that's him confirmed then.

RedAndy94

1.) 30 Jun 2016 20:06:46
Somebody wake me up because i think i'm dreaming ibrahimovic and Mkhitaryan in the one day our attack has went from being static to frightening in one day unbelievable front three of martial/ ibrahimovic/ mhkytaryan I've gpt a feeling draxler might come aswell or is that wishful thinking.

2.) 30 Jun 2016 22:34:35
Does anyone know if the Zlatan shirts are available to print yet?

3.) 30 Jun 2016 23:01:32
Zlatan will tell you when he allows them to go on sale. 👍.

4.) 01 Jul 2016 07:31:34
well his name doesn't seem to get printed quick enough he may get found out in our shop.

5.) 01 Jul 2016 10:34:25
Be the upcoming week/ month as he most likely going to request a important squad number, most likely when they on/ after pre season, depends on players going aswell ie if Mata goes the number 8 be available.

6.) 01 Jul 2016 13:10:18
He has to take #7, probably be good for Memphis as well.

7.) 01 Jul 2016 16:16:04
Zlatan will be taking the number 9 shirt. Martial will be taking the number 11.

So Ibra just had his press conference, not 100% certain on the accuracy of the translations but here are the key points:
He confirmed he has "concrete" offers from England Italy and other countries, and that he made his decision of where to go a while ago.
He smiled when asked about mourinho and United, and when asked if he has an offer from us he laughed and said "let's see what happens".
And he said he has spoken to mourinho every day since he left inter, but has not spoken to him for a few weeks, which I think hints that there have been talks taking place but I could be wrong.

RedAndy94

1.) 26 May 2016 12:46:06
I understand swedish, and I agree with your points. I got the same feeling as you. He also smiled a bit, when asked if it was appealing to him working with Mourinho again. But. with his experience with journalist, he could as well just playing with them (us), and he has signed for a club in USA.

2.) 26 May 2016 12:56:12
Did u not get the feeling he was joking and playing the media.

3.) 26 May 2016 13:48:16
I just hope he comes he is the talisman the club needs.

30 Aug 2014 10:15:18
£14m fee agreed for blind, should give us good cover in a couple of positions, hopefully we will get another cm in before the window closes

RedAndy94

1.) 30 Aug 2014 10:54:05
We will need another 2 players if we want to challenge for the top 4 in my opinion.

2.) 30 Aug 2014 11:39:10
I agree a experienced cm who can control the tempo and pass balls to players like scholes did (hard to find but heres to hoping ), also a cb a world class cb! Then I think top 4 is guranteed hard times ahead still but i'm sure we'll get it right can't wait to see all off our new signing lining up together

3.) I think utd will sign another midfielder before transfer deadline at 11pm on monday

4.) I think we could see another CM, a CB - depending on the Rojo situation - and a CF, because the lack of pace in the forward areas - plus the imminent departures of Welbeck and Hernandez - will leave us short up front.

5.) I have a feeling that will be it for midfielders. We are only in 2 competitions this season. The formation today saw Di Maria in midfield. Di Maria said in his first interview he thought he may play in the same position he did last season at Real, where he was moved to centre mid.

When Herrera returns, the midfield looks as though it may be Di Maria & Herrera. If Blind is going to be cover, I imagine he will be the back up midfield and back up left wing back. He's only going to get 20 odd games this season out of Europe and out the Capital One cup. U never know, maybey his versatility extends to centre back. LVG does that type of thing afterall. Dirk Kuyt played striker, L wingback and R wingback all in one match!

If you look at Blind as a Mid or WB however, its unlikely we would sign another cente mid. Next season we might, but for now I think Blind represents a lower cost alternative to Carvahlo and Vidal. I don't really have a problem with that to be honest, as long as we go on to complete the final peice of the jigsaw in defence.

6.) Mo21 - we already got the midfielder you're describing, his name is Ander Herrera.

He is a fantastic passer off the ball, wins the ball back well at both ends, and gets up and down the pitch. He doesn't shoot like Scholes did, but thankfully he doesn't tackle like him either, and he's also very good on the ball in close spaces.

7.) I don't think blind will be cover, I can see him being a regular in the first team! Even if another midfielder or defender comes in!
Think he will be regular at the back or in midfield depending whether we get a mid cb on

8.) Ive got to say he's the one I've been looking forward to us getting.

9.) I see him reverting to a 433 with ADM, Blind & Herrera across the middle. Carrick to come back, Fletcher, Young & Powell as backup.

We won't have that many games this season but we look short in numbers if Cleverley & Kagawa go especially with Fellani & Carrick injured. Hopefully someone will have a brain-fart & pay to take Anderson off our hands too. Tony V showed his predictable limitations again, he's lucky still to be anywhere near the 1st team. BAckup to Rafa, very little else.

I just hope when Shaw & Rafa come back he'll scrap the 3 CBs. Why try & find 3 CBs when you can pick the 2 in form? Blackett is nowhere good enough to play more than 6/7 lge games this season if we're seriously expecting/hoping for top 4. I don't think we're truly after another CB as Benetia went to Bayern without a bid. Rojo may be the answer, I've no idea.

I think he wants another CM but I doubt they'll pay silly money for Vidal with his knee issue, he could wait for Strootman unless Carvalho is a realistic option. Would have loved to see Alonso personally.

Rojo confirmed on sporting a official twitter, £7.2 plus nani on loan apparently, hopefully not the last signing we make this summer!

RedAndy94

1.) I'v read 16mill + nani on loan.

2.) If that's true, a good piece of business by woody, and when there was talk of 15-20 mil

3.) I don't know what the deal entails but Christ that is fantastic value for money! well done Mr Woodward.

4.) It's €10m (£8m approx) upfront, €5m (£4m approx) December 1st, €5m (£4m approx) July 1st.

So €20m (£16m approx) plus Nani on a season-long loan.

5.) Plus Nani's wages £5 million

6.) Really irks me that Nani makes £5m a year.

7.) 20 Aug 2014 06:39:14
doubt very much we will get him for £7.2. £16 more realistic

16 Aug 2014 17:52:35
Hearing that highly-rated centre-back Mehdi Benatia on his way from AS Roma to Manchester United.
Jim white just said this on twitter, thoughts?

RedAndy94

1.) God I hope so.!

2.) Haven't seen much of him to be honest, but after today we badly need somebody. I wonder if this is "as well" as Rojo or "instead" of. Could be Shaw, Benatia and Rojo in a back 3.

3.) Hope its true!

4.) I only believe Sky Sports reports/rumours even if they're never 100% accurate.

Just think that we were recently linked with 15million for Vermaelen and we could get Benetia! I'd happily pay up to 30million for him!

5.) It's a start but the game today like all of last years shows we lack quality in defence and midfield, need more

6.) Wouldnt expect shaw to be playing as a lcb sambo, but with a top cb like benatia and a top cm and forward we could go 4-3-3

7.) Today showed we need a warrior who can bring the ball out into midfield. Clearly with our interest in Vermaelen we also need a Rojo. Add Vidal & a quick wide man (Cuadrado or Di Maria) and when RvP & Shaw return we are back in the mix. But I just cannot see it all happening.

8.) Shaw will play as wing back not in a back 3

9.) I hope so as jones and smalling are useless

{Ed002's Note - I am sorry that you are unable to provide support to Manchester United players.

Here is the latest information regarding Roma. Sabatini was in London yesterday and at least until lunchtime today. Roma wants to keep Benatia and buy an English based player (Jovetic) but they need to raise money. There is a figure which will tempt them to sell Benatia if the player says he wants to leave. Chelsea have previously had an offer turned down. Their preference is for someone else and whilst I suspect they would offer a little more for Benatia, they will not pay over the odds. As of earlier today there was no MU bid - I did not ask directly but would have been told if there was. If MU want to speak to him and look to making an acceptable offer - or try to negotiate - now is the time to do it. Roma are willing to sell Destro with interest from Spurs - interest from Juve was fleeting and Milan has seemingly dropped their interest. But this has dragged on and it is thought the player may not want a move to Spurs - and that might foul up a deal for Jovetic. Finally, Sabatini is prepared to let Adem Ljajic leave with interest from Atletico - but again it is far from clear if the player is keen on the move.}

10.) He is a very, very good player would be my preference over Hummels only my opinion of course before I get smashed

11.) Sambo, Shaw won't play in a back 3. He's a left back. I'd be happy with Jones, Benatia and Rojo as a back 3.

12.) Thanks for the update Ed, do you think MU will step up now, especially after the day we have had with only two fit senior CB's and a poor start? Is the reported €30m figure enough to get him if he wanted to sign? Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - I am not going to get in to the money Syd as it causes too much confusion. I can tell you that MU also made an enquiry for Manolas but if he moves I am sure it will be to Arsenal. Joël Veltman remains someone who might still make a move this summer. Barcelona may well return again for Hiummels as Bayern Munich may also look to make some changes over the next couple of weeks. Benatia is as I explained. I have also said it will take three windows to complete the rebuild and VdG will not necessarily be making friends en route. He cannot get in to buying for the sake of it but I am still expecting Blind to move to Old Trafford.}

13.) Thanks ed

14.) Really hope this is true. Would be very good news.

We are going to have to pay premiums on whoever we sign. The squad has to be rebuilt, and fast. So long as we purchase players that are proud to join and put a real shift in, I think there is a good reason to pay the extra 5-6 million. I feel that way about Herrera and Shaw, and I think it will be the same with Benatia should he arrive. GGMU!

15.) Can Rojo play centre back?

{Ed002's Note - Yes.}

16.) Thanks for this update Ed. I'm of the opinion that Blind will be a good signing. I don't know how the Rojo situation is going, however hopefully he'll join up.

17.) Dean1210

I also prefer him over hummels and believe he is better suited to the PL.

18.) 16 Aug 2014 20:00:37
Today's result, disappointing as it was, may prove to confirm what LVG was already thinking. If we are to get top 4 we can't drop many more points like today's. We clearly need more quality in CB and MF as a matter of urgency. I suspect a wide man may have to wait for another window.

19.) I see, thanks Ed. I suppose the Rojo transfer may be related to LVG's statement about the use of a left footed defender on the left side of a centre back 3. I couldn't understand the situation having signed Shaw already, but this makes sense now.

Tyler Blackett played very well today, definately one for the future, but there were still moments of inexperience in both goals. He let a man cut inside on the wing for the first goal, and froze a bit on the second. That doesn't take away from a great debut, but Blackett should be eased in. Rojo had a decent world cup, - don't really know how good he is though. Hoping LVG and co. have identified new recruits for this role, and still make the effort to slowly bring Blackett in over time.

20.) Sydney! - wouldn't Jones be ideally suited for that sort of role?

Obviously his lack of regular game time has left some work to be done on his defending, but as a player widely touted as a future defensive midfielder for some time now, who is comfortable on the ball and passes well, surely he could be the one bringing the ball forward out of defence?

21.) After the signing of luis chelsea have 4 players fightng for cb role(terry, cahill, zuma, ivanovic).but we are lacking defenders consedring we want to play 3 at the back.so I think if we can offer an accptbl amount we can convnc benatia to sign for us.

22.) Ed. It's been widely reported that failure to qualify for the champions league this season (not in any way writing our chances off), would result in a percentage drop in the shirt deal from Adidas. Do u know if that percentage drop would be applied for the remainder of the deal or for that season where they aren't in CL?

Regards

{Ed002's Note - I don't want to get in to any financial stuff but it will apply when not in CL.}

23.) We all know Jones has great ability as a footballer, but whenever he has played midfield he has suffered the same problem he does at centre back, - no positional awareness. I have high hopes for Jones, his natural talent is phenominal, but I wander sometimes whether he has the ambition. He seems to have fallen into that comfort zone with friends Cleverly, Wellbeck, Smalling and other fringe players. i'd rather see Jones trying to take a leaf out of Roy Keane's book, - don't have any friends at all, start a rivalry with the next best up and coming centre back, and put him on your dart board! that's the spirit.

Im a fan of Wellbeck like u Thorne, but I think he has this problem too. These players have been wrapped in cotton wool too much being Uniteds next big prospects, and now its coming to the crunch they haven't developed enough mentally. The sooner these players realise it the better. They need to step out of their comfort zones.

24.) Sky sports now saying that he and his representatives are travelling to England

25.) Thorne, LvG prefers Smalling to Jones in that position so what does that tell us?

26.) You may be right (although I still maintain that Welbeck has kicked on).

I remember Smalling when he played at Maidstone (where my wife and I have lived for the last 9 years), I thought he looked like he'd develop into a Rio style defender, big and strong enough to match almost any forward for power, and fast enough that only the very quickest can outrun him. I still thought that when he came to united, but he also seemed to get a lot more comfortable on the ball. Then his development seems to have slowed drastically.

I have assumed that odor both Jones and smalling it was just a lack of regular game time due to injuries as well as being behind Rio and Vidic. Similarly I prescribed Cleverly's backwards drift to loss of confidence, and playing safe backwards or sideways passes because he was afraid to get slated for giving he ball away trying a riskier forward pass. Maybe you are right though and with all of them it's just that they've got too comfortable.

If so, that's probably good. I don't imagine LVG will put up with that sort of thing for long, he'll fix them or get rid of any who don't respond.

I want these kids to stay and do well, but if they won't push on, they should go, and I expect that this time next year, any who won't make it will be gone.

27.) Have to agree with you. These players all have potential. We should wait a while and see how far they go.

Its a knee jerk reaction wanting to get rid of them all. I expect at least one of them will go on to prove themselves. Wait until they get to 25-26 then let them leave if they have not taken the step forward.

28.) 17 Aug 2014 08:27:24
Thank you ed.

Its surprising to see United bidding for variety of targets. Rojo and now Benatia. Were we always looking at 2 defenders to be signed this window?

Also, who are we looking at in terms of the midfield apart from Vidal? Any new information Ed002?

Cheers

{Ed002's Note - Daley Blind.}

Hi lads, looking for a bit of advice if you've got the time, I'm going the derby match on Friday, first time I've been able to go for years so I'm just wondering what the best way of travel is, I'm travelling from Warrington so the train to Piccadilly and then the tram looks a good shout, or I can park at my mates in fallowfield and grab a taxi or something from there but I'm not sure how hard it would be to get one before/ after the game.
Cheers in advance lads, looking forward to seeing the great messi lingard in the flesh.

RedAndy94

1.) 01 Jan 2018 20:51:03
Metrolink is decent but can be very busy on a matchday.

Personally I park near media city on Broadway in one of industrial parks. There is also street parking round there too. But it’s 25 min walk over.

Lowry car park isn't too bad either if you are thinking of driving.

2.) 01 Jan 2018 20:52:32
Tram from Piccadilly into exchange quay works fine and then follow the crowds up to the stadium. Might be busy going back later on but should be plenty of trains on a Friday night.

3.) 01 Jan 2018 22:19:42
Cheers boys much appreciated.

Question for anyone who watches our u18s on a regular basis. Been hearing a lot of good things about Angel Gomes, and from the few highlights I've seen he looks like he could go a long way in the game if he works for it. So I was wondering when do you think he'll be ready for the first team? He's only 16 atm I believe so could we see him as soon as next season or would that be a bit early?

RedAndy94

1.) 25 Oct 2016 20:55:26
Dont think he's physically ready is very small but u never know he mite have a growth spurt between now and then, Indy boonen looks like the one to watch for me though.

{Ed002's Note - It is an enormous step up for a player at that age.}

2.) 25 Oct 2016 21:10:23
Nowhere near ready yet and I wouldn't want to ruin his confidence by introducing him too early.

3.) 25 Oct 2016 21:31:01
Well too early. Give the lads time to develop. We've still got to get TFM into the squad regularly.

15 Sep 2016 15:53:26
Bit of a change up from the usual posts slating our players. A couple of days ago Ashley Young, Jesse lingard, Marcus rashford and tfm visited a dying United fan at his home after training after seeing a post from his granddaughter online. Poor bloke was suffering from prostate cancer and was over the moon to see them, he died 45 minutes after they left.
A lot of players get slaughtered for their lifestyles and being out of touch with the world but this really was a lovely gesture from them.

RedAndy94

1.) 15 Sep 2016 17:44:44
Thanks for sharing that story RedAndy. Sometimes its good to hear about the better aspects of humanity, instead of the horror we see in the news all the time.
Rest in peace to the Fellow who passed away, I'm sure he went a little happier.

01 Sep 2016 08:12:10
Very happy with the summer we've had, got all our business done early and signed 4 top quality players that improve our starting 11 in the areas we needed.
Just wanted to say a quick thanks to all the Eds and posters for all their work and contributions, here's to number 21 this season!

RedAndy94

1.) 01 Sep 2016 13:10:54
Here here Andy. Even ed 041 😂.

{Ed001's Note - I wouldn't go that far ken, that is taking it to extremes!}

2.) 01 Sep 2016 13:55:29
Just trying to help the newbie.
In all seriousness really love the site thanks to you all much appreciate the work. 😆.

15 Aug 2016 18:15:51
What's everyone's opinions on Fonte? Been reading the saints page and it looks like he may be signing for us. He's a good player and Ed001 thinks he'd start for us alongside Bailly, but his fitness and age is a bit of a worry. I've never really watched him close enough really but I heard a lot of people say that Liverpool signed the wrong saints centre back a couple of years ago.

RedAndy94

{Ed041's Note - I wouldn't be to keen tbh.

1.) 15 Aug 2016 18:44:31
Players like Fonte are good for when we are under pressure, I can't imagine we will be put under too much pressure regularly. I rate him and we need an organiser, we could do a lot worse, far better than Jones, Smalling and Rojo imo. I do like having a ball player at the back in Blind as well, difficult one for me because who drops out?

I can see the pro's and con's so going to be undecided here as not sure how useful he will be for the majority of games, and what he brings to the table we sacrifice something elsewhere.

2.) 15 Aug 2016 18:55:13
I think he would be a great signing.

3.) 15 Aug 2016 18:57:29
Turns 33 in 4 months. No thanks.
Don't think we need a cb now. Let the dust settle. If it's needed we can always buy one in jan. Blind, smalling, jones (okay maybe tuanzebe instead of him) deserve a chance with bailly. let's not forget we had one of the best defences in the pl last year.

4.) 15 Aug 2016 19:02:40
I think Jose knows Portuguese talent quite well, and if he thinks Fonte can be a makeshift for 1-2 seasons then I won't mind.
With the money we've spent, we may not sign Varane/ Manolas this season. If we do have the money, I would prefer personally for us to sign top talents and not good players.
I'm surprised to see us not looking at Manolas as I think he's an exceptional CB.

5.) 15 Aug 2016 19:42:40
So he's too old, but Zlatan's not? :)

6.) 15 Aug 2016 20:03:41
He's no better than what we have already.

7.) 15 Aug 2016 20:18:45
No better than Smalling, who, if memory serves me well, was very good last season. I think Blind has also cemented his place in the squad as a decent choice at CB.
That new bloke we've signed isn't bad either. I don't think with Jose playing 2 in front of the back 4, we need any more cover in central defence.

8.) 15 Aug 2016 20:59:02
I'll take him and sell either Jones or rojo or both.

9.) 15 Aug 2016 21:05:27
I think we need another cb bailly will be off to the African nations cup for 6 or 8 weeks don't forget. If we sign another cb such as fonts I think
Jones and rojo will leave if we can find buyers .

10.) 15 Aug 2016 21:45:53
Forgot about ACON if I'm honest. Sign him up!

11.) 15 Aug 2016 21:57:41
The afcon seems to get longer every time someone mentions it, 8 weeks Ken? Pretty sure it's a 3 week competition.

12.) 15 Aug 2016 23:04:23
I personally really like him. Bailly, Fonte, Smalling and Blind are good options. I doubt Jones will come good and Rojo is a waste of space.

13.) 15 Aug 2016 23:25:18
Sorry Andy I should say 8 games. The comp is on over 3 weeks and there is a3 week build up.

I've not really watched both of them enough to make a sound judgement but I'm sure our scouts have done a good job on them, he's only 21 so pretty young for a centre back yet, think he would probably be behind bailly and smalling in the pecking order, cheers ronnie.

Not sure but this deal is pretty sensible from barca, with teams like palace throwing £30m at Marseille for that Belgian lad who knows how much players will be going for in 5 years, it's gone even more ridiculous this year.

They honestly deserved a public lashing yesterday, some of those missed chances were just unforgivable we should have been 5-1 up. What rashford was doing at the end when he had Lukaku in on goal I have no idea, that game was exasperating to watch.
