Reports are claiming that Real and Barcelona are watching Angel Gomes performances for United. I hope we've got him well and truly tied up to a long contract.

SchMidfield

1.) 19 Oct 2016 08:47:10
Hands off. I hope this just a rumor.

2.) 19 Oct 2016 12:51:47
He's only 15-16 isn't he so only on junior terms and not able to sign pro terms yet. Eds that correct?

{Ed002's Note - Correct.}

3.) 19 Oct 2016 21:01:05
Thanks Ed.

I'm in Portugal at the moment and all radio stations here are saying that Pogba is staying at Juve.

SchMidfield

1.) 03 Aug 2016 17:25:23
Depends on their source. If its the two lads who cornered Pogba in the USA then I think that's pretty poor reporting.

2.) 03 Aug 2016 17:16:16
There are legit photos of a juventus store with dybala jerseys number 10. I checked the usual signs and they're not photoshopped. I tried posting the pic but it didn't go through.

{Ed033's Note - The picture did go through and is now on the Sightings page, thanks.

3.) 03 Aug 2016 17:37:56
Wow I feel like we have all gone mad, every tiny little thing on this Pogba affair is reported, it is crazy. The English media are reporting it is when not if, Juventus have given his squad number away and removed him from all of their advertising, as well as already spending the money they are going to receive for selling him. He said yes to some lads who asked if he was staying, not even sure if he heard the question.

Not having a go at you Schmid I know that is what they are reporting, it is just crazy that every small thing is getting reported during this 'saga', I am pretty chilled about it and assume he will be reporting to training with us next week after the deal is completed.

4.) 03 Aug 2016 17:50:27
Thankyou ed.

5.) 03 Aug 2016 18:37:07
I agree with GDS. it could be he misunderstood the question? I'd rather not get too sucked into believing till it is finally announced or cfm medical done. Else media is sure to come out with more stupid theories to sell papers. Nothing new for everyone I'm sure.

Lvg seems very downbeat about yesterday. He's mentioning a lot about the board etc. Maybe the recent stories in the Portuguese Notica newspapers about mourinho coming aren't far of the mark.
Shame that the press insisted on asking him about his future rather than the fantastic game we witnessed yesterday.
I'm not lvg's best fan but yesterday was a good day and still the press were having a go.

SchMidfield

1.) 24 Apr 2016 12:30:57
I have not enjoyed LVG's style of football, I have not liked him getting rid of welbeck, Nani and chicharito, I have not enjoyed his press conferences and after game interviews, but a big thank you LVG for bringing Timothy fosu mensha to the club.

If louis does go this summer he will have left us a very talented player who was value for money and could play for the club for a decade. I suspect the lad will only get better and better as he gains more first team experience.

2.) 24 Apr 2016 14:16:36
You don't have to go as far as the press schmid. Plenty Here slating him and everything he did yesterday was not wrong. It's not just the new younger fans either. Opinions are all fine but mostly come from a position of ignorance he has been a manager at some of the world's biggest clubs for 30 years or so and not every single thing he does us wrong. But every butcher baker and candle stick maker on Here knows more without every having been in the position. Yesterday was not a game to make panic changes and I thought he and the players did well.
You can't expect to play any match especially a semi final without being under the cosh at some point. Lvgs experience was vital yesterday and hee used it well imo.

3.) 24 Apr 2016 15:58:52
An FA Cup win and sneaking into the top 4 ahead of Arsenal would be a nice retirement send off for a previously great manager who has lost his way.

He will leave us with Martial, Rashford and Fosu-Mensah.

I don't like him and want him out. But those three will do us well for the future. But his time is up and I think he knows it.

I am no LVG fan, but enjoyed yesterday. If we had had a season like that we might well be looking forward to 3rd season under the current manager.
Now we will never know whether the philosophy is finally working or whether this is the result of him no longer trying to look after his job because the writing is ever clearer on the wall.
Whatever, yesterday shows we have more than the embryo of a good squad. We just need a few established players who are not already semi crocks when they sign (sorry Schweini) to give a bit of composure and in match leadership during tough spells.
We seem to have made an excellent start by getting a more involved head of the dugout. I don't view Mourhino through long distance rose tinted specs but he will turn this team around.

04 Jan 2016 23:43:51
I was talking to some Benfica fans three days ago about the young player, Guedes. And they all said he was good. And then one of the lads said, you're looking at the wrong player and proceeded to show me a video of renato Sanchez. I watched in awe as this player was so young but had a fantastic physique and could handle himself.
So to my surprise, I've seen that we're actually being linked with him now. Young talent but he looks ready to play in pl.

SchMidfield

1.) 05 Jan 2016 00:50:10
Looks an outstanding talent gets pushed off the ball a bit from what I've seen but still only 18 has great pace with the ball and looks to have bags of potential.

2.) 05 Jan 2016 01:23:48
Ronnie might know more about him.

3.) 05 Jan 2016 10:51:31
Why, is he half Belgian?

4.) 05 Jan 2016 13:12:04
Do we really need more young potential that's years away from the first team?

5.) 05 Jan 2016 13:16:36
Young talent with a fantastic physique? Is that you Ronnie?

6.) 05 Jan 2016 14:34:23
Over to you Ronnie! !

7.) 05 Jan 2016 18:27:49
My physique is fabulous darling!

On a serious note, a player I've mentioned for a while is Martin Hinterigger, left footed centre back for Salzburg and only 23?

A lot of clubs are now sniffing around? Would we be one of those clubs?

Thanks, Ronnie.

01 Dec 2015 08:16:19
Morning. The possible news that Hererra is seeking talks with the philosopher is extremely worrying. He's by far the best midfielder we've got and it seems lvg is alienating him. If that happens and he leaves, we will regret it massively.
On another note, I know lvg has fallen out with Valdes, but the horrible treatment he's receiving is utterly ridiculous. He was not even invited to the unicef dinner. What is lvg trying to achieve? All we're doing is dragging the name of the club through the mud.

SchMidfield

1.) 01 Dec 2015 09:08:55
The treatment of Valdes makes me feel uncomfortable too. But we don't know the ins and outs of what has gone on. For all we know Valdes may well be a disruptive influence in the dressingroom, in which case it makes sense to keep him as far away from the first team as possible. Although LvG does take it very personally when someone disagrees with him and his ideas. He has throughout his career acted petty at times and I do wonder if this is another one of those times.

Either way I suppose it would make sense to keep Valdes away from club events, especially ones with so many fans and members of the media present.

Valdes could certainly cause some very big headlines with what he may reveal. And none of them would be to the benefit of our club.

If only we could have found a buyer for Valdes in the summer and this unpleasentness could have been avoided.

2.) 01 Dec 2015 09:43:37
Schmid,
The possible news about Herrera is a report in the Daily Star which is a comic . Does'nt seem like Herrera's style and I imagine if there was going to be amy talk from him it would be in the Spanish press.

3.) 01 Dec 2015 11:17:54
The press are loving that we aren't playing well and will do anything to cause unrest and belittle the club. All these little digs at the club, would merely suggest they have run out of ideas and are clutching at straws to print any old tripe.

These types if newspaper are aimed at a particular type of person. To put it nicely, the easily influenced and the gullible.

4.) 01 Dec 2015 11:59:22
I don't know about the Herrera rumours, they could be true. After all, I know I'd be p***ed off if I was on the bench when Rooney was playing all the time seeing as how poor he's playing lately! LVG out!

5.) 01 Dec 2015 12:03:33
Do any of the Eds know if there would be any change of us going for Vardy either in January or Summer because I think he would be just the kind of striker we need as Rooney is sadly finished : (

{Ed025's Note - i have seen nothing on the radar about vardy rocko..

6.) 01 Dec 2015 13:42:41
Thank you Ed025. I just think he would be perfect for us but thanks for the info and have a great xmas. We appreciate all the hard work you do :)

{Ed025's Note - cheers rocko mate..

7.) 02 Dec 2015 09:35:37
Really hope Herrera doesn't go anywhere. I strongly believe he could be one of our real core players for years to come.

I would really like to see Herrera being used in place of one of our more defensive midfielders, with license to roam forwards. He's more than capable of keeping possession to satisfy LVG's strategy of boring opponents into submission, but he'd add a few goals and he can create too. I especially think that he could link well with Mata to add a little extra energy down the right of the pitch and between them get some balls in behind defences for someone like Martial to get on the end of.

This season is already reflecting what we saw last season. A good start, then we lost against Watford and it all went pear shaped. I honestly don't think we're any better than last year.
I think the tactics are very cautious and we look depressingly poor and out of ideas. The transfer window was average and we never addressed key areas such as left back and winger.
I had City to win the league by more than 12 points and right now, that's looking easily done.
On top of that, our manager's relationship with Woodward is poor and he's already mouthing off about leaving. The club is stuck in a time warp. We've had 3 managers who are more interested in what the opposition is doing than what damage we can do to the opposition. These are unsettled tines.
Our noisey neighbours have come from a long way behind and overtaken us in all aspects. They have better facilities, better players, better youth, and better owners.
Turbulent times indeed. If any on here think otherwise, then you're kidding yourselves.

SchMidfield

1.) 21 Oct 2017 19:18:17
Schmid - I think it's hard to judge that game as two atrocious individual mistakes cost us and I think Lindelof was dreadful for the Mata mistake as well!

Up until Jones went off we we're well in control of that game. We can't expect champagne football in such wet and blustery conditions. Granted we hadn't created much but it was only a matter of time and they just couldn't get enough possession of the ball to be any threat! The Jones injury cost us the game today in my opinion.

It remains to be seen if Lindelof will be a good signing but at the moment he's a liability and has made goal conceding mistakes in nearly every appearance for us including pre season, to say it's been a chastising start to his Utd career is an understatement! I'm not writing him off but he needs to improve quickly especially if he has to start against Spurs next week! I'd even consider playing Tuanzebe such is his form and confidence at the moment!

What I will say is that we're suffering from the same kind of inconsistency in the three positions behind Lukaku as we did last year. Miki has gone missing, Mata has been ineffective for most of the season in my opinion and Martial has showed today as he did last week against Liverpool that he's just not prepared to put in the hard yards required. His attitude in both games has been poor to say the least. At least Rashford has contributed more and his work rate, attitude and application can never be questioned.

I think Jose was desperate to get that extra attacking player in the summer and I think we're just starting to see why.

Anyway in difficult conditions the remit should have been remain solid and organised, match their effort and work rate, make no mistakes and we'll eventually win this game though our superior quality; enter Lindelof and the rest is history! Harsh but true!

2.) 21 Oct 2017 20:18:03
If we lose a match because of an injury to Jones it shows how bad our attacking play was. We should be fully in control of matched and playing good football to boot excuse the pun. It's one thing to miss Jones against a top top team when things may be finely balanced but against Huddersfield?

3.) 21 Oct 2017 21:01:10
Danny. The way we're playing is pathetic. We've got to be a lot better than that. We have zero creativity. We have no width and No left back and No proper winger.
Can you imagine what city will do to our team if we played like we did today.

10 Sep 2017 10:47:51
Got to say I'm disappointed at Mark Hughes. We brought him from nowhere and made him into the star he became. But every time we play Stoke, he seems to try his hardest to wind our manager or players. He told him to F. k off, so what's mourinho supposed to do? Problem with Hughes is that he seems to be bitter at being overlooked for the United managerial job. But he'll never be a good manager in my eyes. His team try against United and other top teams but next week they'll play Newcastle and won't be half as motivated and will lose.
Just wish Hughes will have a bit more respect for the club that made him who he is.
Thought bailly and Jones were not good yesterday. And what was Darmian doing for the first goal. Jones defending was comical throughout and especially for the 2nd goal.
Anyway, two points lost but hopefully we'll be back to winning ways next week.

SchMidfield

1.) 10 Sep 2017 10:56:43
I seem to agree Schmid. Not a fan of Stoke or their manager's style to be honest.

Fair play for winding us up though, for 90 minutes that's his job and he was like that as a player too and we loved him for it. He got under Jose's skin.

As for the goals watch the replay. Entirely Bailly's fault asleep during the offside trap and asleep to sense the danger and track their striker. Second goal Jones fell over. This stuff happens.

2.) 10 Sep 2017 18:53:57
Schmid, so you think Hughes should roll over and have his belly tickled like Steve Bruce used to just because he's an ex player. He's doing his best for the club he currently works for so maybe you ought to show some respect for the man.

3.) 10 Sep 2017 19:27:10
Regal, completely agree. Hughes is a top man and a United legend, fair play to him for having the balls to take on the big boys. I was on the same flight as him once and always regret not engaging him in conversation.

4.) 10 Sep 2017 19:47:31
Redal
Good point.

5.) 10 Sep 2017 11:28:22
Eric
Good point people wait for certain players to have a bad game .
Bailly had a bit of a bad one as well yesterday.

6.) 10 Sep 2017 20:30:45
Hughes is a bell**d imo and that's coming from a Welsh united fan.

7.) 10 Sep 2017 21:23:19
I can't Stand Hughes or stoke.

8.) 10 Sep 2017 21:53:57
Agreed Stand. He's got an agenda. I'm not asking him to roll over and get his belly tickled. But he's winding the crowd up and telling mourinho to F. ck off. That's not a legend, that's just a bitter bloke who thinks he should've been given a chance at managing our great club. And he's average at best. the stuff of legends are Bruce solskjaer cantona giggs and the rest of the class of 92. Evra is passionate and respects our club despite not playing for us any longer.
Let's see if Mr Hughes will be so pumped up when they play against Southampton or Swansea.
Brilliant player but as not a legend.

9.) 10 Sep 2017 23:50:30
Have disliked Hughes for years. Every game versus us he's moaning, antagonising and generally being a twat. There is definitely an agenda there, and managing Stoke doesn't help lol. Was at the game and as he walked off he showed nothing towards the united fans, unlike Darren Fletcher, who showed much appreciation to the united faithful! Always appreciate DF, even if he should have been booked 15 times over for repetitive fouling.

10.) 12 Sep 2017 12:37:35
Always seems to take too much delight in getting a result against us for my liking. Seems to have a big chip on his shoulder about something.

31 Aug 2017 15:00:25
Willian? Really? I would rather give the youngsters a chance as he's no better tgan what we have.

SchMidfield

1.) 31 Aug 2017 15:07:01
Its only being reported by neil 'custard cream' custis so not much in it.

2.) 31 Aug 2017 15:16:10
Sch
I thought you wanted a wide attacker?

3.) 31 Aug 2017 15:16:16
I think we enquired at the start of the summer, and we're told no. I don't see why that would have changed on deadline day.

4.) 31 Aug 2017 15:18:10
Can't see Chelsea selling him. But said before that he is a Mourinho type player and works hard.

5.) 31 Aug 2017 18:02:24
I quite like Will. i. an. Wouldn't say no, but don't think he is really needed.

6.) 31 Aug 2017 21:18:41
Jred. I do but not Willian. He's in and out of the Chelsea team. But obviously a lot on here think he's world class as 9 people disagreed with me. We'll see.

28 Aug 2017 16:52:02
If we were to buy the much needed left winger, does anyone back a move for Bale for the silly price quoted? I would much rather have Perisic or Lemar. Please Jose, stay well clear.

SchMidfield

1.) 28 Aug 2017 17:06:02
I think we have had so many debates about it.

In my opinion you don't say no to buying one of the best players in world football.

He would easily make us better and we would be serious contenders for every competition.

But I don't think the rumours have any truth in it. Unless Madrid were to buy Sanchez.

2.) 28 Aug 2017 17:26:40
Schmid i'm still waiting for you to change your name to pogmatic
I would sign bale in a heartbeat.

3.) 28 Aug 2017 17:30:20
Griezmann, Sanchez, Bale, Perisic in that order for me.

4.) 28 Aug 2017 18:22:54
I've got a feeling we might get Alexis Sanchez never felt we'd ever get him but just got that feeling now let's hope my gut feelings right.

5.) 28 Aug 2017 18:50:28
Hope so Dave, be well happy with that, something in your waters is there?

6.) 28 Aug 2017 19:43:26
Ed02 has said we have no interest in Sanchez unfortunately.

7.) 28 Aug 2017 20:03:49
Never seen the fuss around griezmann.

{Ed004's Note - I would agree with Welsh Red Devil above. That's the exact order of players I would move for this summer. I don't think we will make anymore signings but I do think we are a game changer short if we want to compete in Europe. Also Griezmann is a wonderful player and would be perfect to play behind Lukaku}

8.) 28 Aug 2017 20:17:35
I hope so too Dave. Apart from the season before he went to Real, I've not been impressed with Bale. Too much hype.
I think Perisic will be an excellent signing and Lemar so much potential. Sanchez will turn us into a team to fear and can score goals from wide areas.
Ken, still trying for a bit of inspiration before the name change. PogMaticAryan sounds good to me!

9.) 28 Aug 2017 20:45:56
Sounds good schmid. i think your holding out for sanchezpogmatic😁.

{Ed004's Note - If Sanchez was to come in I could see him playing off Lukaku with Mkhitaryan playing wide right}

10.) 28 Aug 2017 21:14:24
I think sanchez would take matas spot on the right where he played for barcelona.

11.) 28 Aug 2017 23:59:51
Keep it coming Ken. Seriously though, just my personal view that bale is not what he's made up to be. Cheaper and more effective options out there.

12.) 29 Aug 2017 01:41:56
The same Bale who frequently ripped Utd apart? Remember when he made Rio Ferdinand looklike Titus Bramble? Whether he can stay injury free would be a big concern. Bale is much better than Griezmann or any of those players on the above list. can't see Madrid selling to be honest.

The beauty about mighty red which is a contradiction in itself, is that you don't have to read his posts but just press thumbs down. It's quite therapeutic.

1.) 25 Aug 2017 19:56:24

I'm totally into selling him and getting as much as we can for him. He's a good player but nothing more. What surprised me is how slow he is, he has no burst of speed at all.
And his goal tally even when he was at Madrid was poor. So all in all, we paid £60m which is around £25m more than he's worth. If sanchez can be bought for £35m then adm can't be worth more. If psg want him then bite their hands off with a size 11 kick from lvg's boots up his bum.

Agree Tony. I was fully in favour but a mixture of odd selections and tactics coupled with injuries and average transfer window this year has left us behind.
I was sat watching spurs demolish Liverpool and I too yearned for the times we had a manager who advocates attack.

RedMan. Exactly what I've been saying. Problem is we're stuck with the owners and Woodward and their systems. The club has improved financially under their stewardship but they have held us back massively on the footballing side.
It really rankles on me when people say we've spent half a billion quid in five years. But they don't say, we've recouped £300 million in player sales. They don't say the club has earned over £1.5 billion from tv and commercial rights during this period.
So the nett amount of money spent is pitiful in comparison to what the club has earned.

SchMidfield
