Ladies, gents and all other creatures frolicking through this page, Maze would like to extend congratulations to the club and you as a supporter for the passion shown to finish 2nd in the league this season.

Yes the 400k a week superstar $anchez couldn’t help snatch the title, the superstar benchwarmer Pogba couldn’t put Sevilla down and Rom ‘my first touch is as criminal as eating crackers without caviar’ just couldn’t get United over the line.

That being said the huge success of the special since coming to United is incomparable so it may be time to rename the SAF stand the Jose stand. So in good faith lads I implore you to grab a drink and celebrate the new accepted standard at Manchester United, in the words of the great Alan Jackson “it’s 5 o’clock somewhere”.

The Maze

1.) 29 May 2018 11:46:56
I remember when you were called JMB.

2.) 29 May 2018 11:46:59
Well hello maze you little Ray of sunshine 😃.

3.) 29 May 2018 11:51:57
Yes well done Maze, great end of season post. Post of the year. Congrats, high five, 🖑, *yawn*.

4.) 29 May 2018 11:56:01
RR since your memory is so good you will remember Maze states Salah and KDB were top signings, comparing the latter to Paul Scholes. Hindsight or foresight? Probably the latter.

Deano, Maze is a man of the people. Happy to spread cheer to all. Hope all has been well.

5.) 29 May 2018 12:00:36
Supa, Maze can see by your photo you are looking as well as ever. Thank you greatly for your contributory comments.

6.) 29 May 2018 13:45:47
Danny welcomes you back ‘The Maze’. However, he worries that like your penal namesake that you’ve been largely irrelevant since the end of the 90s, and have known to be full of shit.

7.) 29 May 2018 13:53:02
KDB is nothing like Scholes what you been smoking?

8.) 29 May 2018 14:01:03
He has ginger hair and plays football, what more do you want?

9.) 29 May 2018 14:49:39
well yeh true.

10.) 29 May 2018 16:28:27
Mancman welcomes the return of the Maze. We are a broad church and we all support United so plenty of room for The Maze and their alter egos. How are you all Maze?

11.) 29 May 2018 19:57:31
Danny 1st in class yet again A* 😁

And I for one am glad the maze has returned makes a change to read a post that makes me smile nowadays .

12.) 29 May 2018 20:47:40
Oh no! I've already got a headache.

11 Jan 2018 20:34:14
If it is indeed true that both City and United are in for Sanchez it will be very interesting to see how the saga turns out. Less than 10 years ago it was a no brainer, when United came calling you signed up.

As for Sanchez himself he is at an age were he would like to be playing every week and the competition at City is a lot tougher than United for those spots which would be another reason to join United.

Finally financially both clubs would be able to offer the same package, so there should be no real problems in that area. Yes he may get a PL title this year at City but is that guaranteed for the lifespan of his contract? Both clubs in my opinion should be vying for titles each year.

It will give an interesting indication as to whether the noisy neighbours have now taken over the street.

The Maze

1.) 11 Jan 2018 21:22:07
If citeh sign Sanchez, that won't mean they've taken over. They need about another 20 Premier League titles, a few Champions League titles, a few Fa Cups, and few League cups. Give your head a wobble.

2.) 11 Jan 2018 21:24:54
This has agents/ Arsenal written all over it to get the most cash in this window or he goes for zip. He is a class act but I think we all ready have Ozil so this Sanchez story may be a smoke screen 😆😆.

3.) 11 Jan 2018 21:32:48
City have taken over already. 5 years ago when both teams were after the same player City was the preference, now it's virtually guaranteed that City would be chosen over Utd.

They have a better squad of players, a better manager, more stylish/ enjoyable football. The only players choosing City of Utd are those that have Utd in their heart or something other than a better career path being their priority.

This isn't an Anti-Utd post it's just stating things as I see them unfortunately. Football is very short term now, harking back to previous years is pointless. We have to accept City are a better proposition, but hopefully we can get back to where we belong, it's a hard slog though as we seem to be falling further behind imo.

4.) 11 Jan 2018 22:27:46

Wasn’t it 5 years ago we took RVP from under their blue noses?

5.) 11 Jan 2018 22:38:41
I would postulate our global reach is only comparable to that of Real and Barcelona. Therefore, for any player with plans to market themselves worldwide (which sadly I imagine is a most of the top players), we are still an attractive proposition.

6.) 11 Jan 2018 22:59:08
"We're all doomed"- I blame Private Frazer 😆😆.

7.) 11 Jan 2018 23:06:30
It's obvious that we've fallen further behind City, but the good side is that we may have moved ahead of all the others. If that's the case then we should be able to attract decent enough players to move ahead. The way things are right now, though all other conditions being equal, City and Pep will be a more attractive proposition.

8.) 12 Jan 2018 00:05:58
City are 18 years away from where we are.

9.) 12 Jan 2018 00:31:18
GDS2 - one example (probably more to do with SAF than anything else) . Are you saying my point is wrong, or are you just nit picking for the crack!

10.) 12 Jan 2018 00:32:17
Oh and RVP was 6 years ago I believe, hah.

11.) 12 Jan 2018 01:47:43
RVP was a short term purchase who had one good season for us. I would rather we'd bought someone like Silva. The only reason it was a good transfer was because SAF managed to make it work but it left the team with a conflict between RVP and Rooney when Moyes took over, and a midfield populated by top stars like Cleverley.

12.) 12 Jan 2018 07:58:03
Good post Shawthing, did we not step back from signing lewandowski to sign RVP? I would have rather signed Lewandowski. He has kept banging them in season after season where as RVP had one good season, got moody went off the boil and disappeared over the horizon.

Haven’t we seen a lot of criticism of short term/ stop gap signings on this site? That is exactly what RVP was. Quality player, but more known for long spells out injured.

13.) 12 Jan 2018 08:02:56
Modern players do not care about club history and how many trophies you have won. They care about the here and now. What’s the climate like, how much will I get paid, what sort of tax dodges are available and lastly what’s the style of play/ whose the manager.

On that basis, utd and city are tied on climate, cites have far far deeper oil lined pockets than we have, can’t comment on the tax dodges available, their style of play is light years ahead and their manager is not known for being grumpy and criticising his player in the media.

Unfortunately I think we are second choice for most modern players.

14.) 12 Jan 2018 08:32:53
Isn’t Sanchez a united fan growing up?

10 Jan 2018 20:33:56
Lukaku is reportedly seeking legal advice over Moshiri’s use of the work “voodoo”. Is this guy for real. This is everything that is wrong with the modern day footballer.

Brush it off son it was just a comment and get back on the training pitch. It is actually embarrassing and cringeworthy looking at how these overpriced divas go about their business. Suck it up.

If this isn’t the definition of political correctness through the roof then I don’t know what is. The likes of Roy Keane and co must be embarrassed to watch these spoiled sheltered kids pull on the jersey and crawl behind their lawyer every time they are mentioned in a way that ‘offends’ them.

The Maze

1.) 10 Jan 2018 22:11:50
And there speaks a white man.

2.) 10 Jan 2018 22:21:11
So casual racism is OK, lukaku is 100% within his rights to stand up for himself. Racism is wrong no matter where and when it takes place.

3.) 10 Jan 2018 22:22:49
Could say the same thing about moshiri, he could have moved on from lukaku turning down evertons offer instead of whining.

Everton have two world class, amazing, super fantastic strikers in Oumar Niasse and calvert-lewin. Maybe moshiri should focus on them.

If Avram Glazer had come out and said all rooney did was smoke 40 a day and eat pork pies for his last 4 seasons, i'm sure rooney would take umbrage with that. Why can't lukaku seek legal advice over a disparaging comment.

4.) 11 Jan 2018 07:58:14
DSG in Mazes opinion Rooney would have said ‘look at my goal scoring record for United” and “your the twit who was paying me for it”.

The only thing Lukaku should be seeking legal advice on is his first touch because it’s bloody criminal.

5.) 11 Jan 2018 08:42:02
It's 2018 Maze, not 1967.

6.) 11 Jan 2018 09:15:17
I want the old maze back.

7.) 11 Jan 2018 09:32:21
As I mentioned the only folk you judge these comments as racist are those who seem to link everything to racism. They are the true racists.

As for the white man speaks comment it is a huge assumption to assume that Maze is white. Is Maze white? Wow.

8.) 11 Jan 2018 09:54:40
Im not interested in the colour of anyones skin I just know if I was a multi millionaire and somebody made untrue or disparaging remarks about me or my family then i'd be on them with the best lawyers money could buy. B***ks to all that "turn the other cheek "nonsense.

9.) 11 Jan 2018 09:57:58
You should subscribe to the Daily Mail, Maze. You'd fit right in.

10.) 11 Jan 2018 09:41:54
Would this be the same Roy Keane who sued paddy power because they used his picture in an unflattering billboard.

11.) 11 Jan 2018 10:33:04
I’m sorry Maze, but who are you to tell a black man when and when not he should take offence to racist abuse?

12.) 11 Jan 2018 10:49:18
Who am I? I am a member of a society that has gone mad with political correctness. I am a multi-cultural ethnic individual in my own right so get off your high horse Anon you can’t ride it properly.

13.) 11 Jan 2018 12:01:08
Well maze, moshiri did prove that you don't need to be white to make casual racist remarks.

14.) 11 Jan 2018 12:10:37
I suppose if you’re 8 different people you can class yourself as ethnic and multicultural. Which one is black though? Rollo or JMB?

15.) 11 Jan 2018 12:12:04
From what I can see this isn't political correctness (I hate it myself, too many people going out of their way to be offended) But this Morishi fella obvioulsy has thrown in the Voodoo thing knowing it would be controversial and possibly offensive to Lukaku and his family.

Im an Irishman myself, I can appreciate an Irish joke and know its banter if my mates call me thick paddy or whatever. A stranger saying it would be different, I could also give that stranger a smack in the mouth if I was offended, however that really isn't a viable option for Lukaku so if he has the money and is so annoyed then yes bY all means defend yourself by use of legal action.

16.) 11 Jan 2018 13:17:55
Calm down everyone, Maze has spoken.

It's 2018 and if a man wants to slander another man with added racial undertones, we should accept his right to do it. It's about free speech innit? I mean what if I accidentally slander someone in a planned interview with the media, and make allusion to their racial background within my slanderous comment? Should I be punished for that? You're all barking mad.

17.) 11 Jan 2018 16:44:41
No discussion what Moshiri said has racial undertones, no need for legal action, Moshiri should apologises and we all move on.

09 Jan 2018 09:17:29
Ahoy boys, girls and alternative genders The Maze hopes you are all doing well and keeping your spirits up in the face of bleak Jose Mourinho football. It was this season United were supposed to challenge for the title right?

It came to The Maze’s attention that Jose is in dialogue with the hierarchy because he believes more funds are needed because he cannot buy the league with what he has already spent. Is this guy for real?

It seems that Pep is once again teaching Jose how to win but play attractive entertaining football at the same time. It would not be a surprise to see Chelsea and co leapfrog United as the usual Jose meltdown is due - even his child like cringing attacks on Conte are not amusing.

To some I have no doubt second place will be deemed a triumph, heck throw in mediocre trophy and some would vote him into parliament. Do not be a fool, this has been no title challenge and Pep is laughing at Jose’s inadequacy.

The Maze

1.) 09 Jan 2018 10:54:34
Any other season we'd be top or very close with our points tally, and we've still got the CL to play for, winning it will be difficult but anything can happen over 2 legs.

City are simply too good for everyone else in the PL this season. Yes, we should be closer, but at some point we will need to tip our hat to them rather than point fingers internally.

We should be getting behind the players and manager, and regardless of what people think of Jose, the squad is in better shape now than when he took over from LVG. My view is we are a few players away from challenging on all fronts next season. Let's see.

2.) 09 Jan 2018 11:06:47
Who you kidding, that's not MAZE.

3.) 09 Jan 2018 11:33:17
Nope, it was next year we were meant to challenge. This year was always about top three (and a POTENTIAL challenge) . We are exactly where I expected us to be. Patience.

4.) 09 Jan 2018 12:39:02
You will only know if it is the real Maze if Rollo and co come on and agree with the post.

{Ed007's Note - It's the real Maze, 100%.}

5.) 09 Jan 2018 12:40:30
Has it escaped Maze's attention that Pep himself has spent an absolute fortune and paid close to £130m on three new full backs alone?

Just remind me what Pep won last year? Their defending was calamitous at times and I didn't see them winning many plaudits for their style of football. Pep inherited a much better squad and has spent more money improving that squad. Do not be fooled or undervalue the importance of money and the support of a board that give you everything your heart desires.

RWWD has hit the nail on the head! Patience please!

6.) 09 Jan 2018 13:35:10
Look whos back, back again. Maze is back back again. Maze where is the rest of you.

7.) 09 Jan 2018 13:53:46
Talking in 3rd person and being concescending, of course its the real Maze.

8.) 09 Jan 2018 13:56:55
Welcome back maze it's been boring round here 😂.

9.) 09 Jan 2018 14:09:26
It is Royal Rumble time of year, so I'm braced for a few surprise returns. Ngiak! Where are you pal?

10.) 09 Jan 2018 14:47:59
souds to mutch like mighty from the scouse page.

11.) 09 Jan 2018 17:40:10
That is definotely not MAZE.

{Ed001's Note - same IP as his old account.}

12.) 09 Jan 2018 18:00:50
Welcome back made.

He would jump at the chance to join a big club. He is a good player but the sums quoted seem absurd. Only issue is he is relatively slow, intelligent but slow. He would have to be supplemented well with $anchez, Martial and Rash etc.

Shappy why are you talking about Donald Trump? You have not got under the Maze’s skin you have just posted some very long paragraphs of twaddle that the Maze doesn’t agree with.

You have just stated Sanchez is the the better player and Moura will never reach that level yet double back to say he MAY be the better signing. Honestly Shappy, Moura may not, will not and certainly will not be the better signing.

It was a dumb post in the Maze’s eyes and a dumb opinion if that is what you are passing it off as.

Ken this is not like little school girls trying to sell brownies to raise funds for field trips. This is Manchester United one of the most recognised sporting institutions in the world.

What is exactly are United trying to sell him? They offer what they can and what they believe is reasonable, that is all. There is nothing to sell, you have watched too many episodes of only fools and horses, Maze suggests maybe it is time to try a different show?

So you feel rolling subs wouldn’t enhance the game?

The Maze

{Ed002's Note - There is already too much rolling around from the players on the pitch, the last thing we need is those on the bench rolling around and pretending to be injured as well.}

When does the club stand up and stop throwing money at name after name. The ethos is wrong and football is sometimes dire. The club needs a kick up the backside and it’s commercial strategy especially in the recruitment space needs to be reviewed.

Mumbles there could be provisions for this. Could be mandated that at least 2 players must be under 21 year old or 1 player must be a youth grad. There is nothing worse than watching a player come on with 1 minute to go what is the point? Or all 3 subs have been made and an injury changes the game on its head, it ruins the spectacle.

Rolling substitutes. Team should have 14 players with 3 off the pitch at any one time and change on the refs signal during breaks in play.

It would maximise the minutes given to young lads, allow players on the interval bench to get checked or in game massages to stop potential injury and keep players energy levels up to maximise the entertainment spectacle.

Fabinho will do a job but not set the league alight. The fans on here wanted him signed up this time last year so it is foolish for those fans to say he is now irrelevant. United will buy, probably big and blow a shed load of cash it is what they do. It will be an interesting summer.
