Lukaku absent from training today.

The plot thickens.

1.) 11 Jul 2019 12:54:47
Martial too, maybe it's a buy one get one free deal.

The club line is that both were doing gym work.

2.) 11 Jul 2019 12:59:13
Both seem to be carrying knocks.

3.) 11 Jul 2019 13:29:58
Lukaku seems to be carrying a few spare tires.

4.) 11 Jul 2019 14:08:59
I really don't get it why Lukaku is getting this from our fans. If you are telling me that Lingard, Rashford, Martial or Sanchez were better than him the last 2 seasons, then you know nothing of football.

5.) 11 Jul 2019 15:58:30
Or maybe the fact he doesn't like being told he's not first choice and has been making cows eyes at Conte all summer doesn't help his case.

6.) 11 Jul 2019 19:53:04
To be fair you don't need a reason.

17 May 2019 18:46:19
Hi Ed's seems to be a new player linked to us every day as silly season approaches. Any truth in today's reports that United have approached Fulham over Sessegnon? He fits the profile of the other two players we've been strongly linked with.

{Ed002's Note - Manchester United have asked about a price but are aware of serious interest from elsewhere.}

1.) 17 May 2019 20:07:24
Itd be interesting if wed be happy to meet their asking price. Spurs would also be a good option for him.

2.) 17 May 2019 20:09:21
Thanks once again Ed. I think I’ve seen you say elsewhere Spurs are interested.

Thought he had a difficult season but clearly has potential.

{Ed002's Note - Fulham decided he was not ready to step up, but Spurs are indeed keen.}

3.) 17 May 2019 20:17:49
Thank you Ed, have a good weekend.

4.) 18 May 2019 13:51:36
Sky Bet and Sky up to their usual tricks again.

10 Apr 2019 07:21:01
Ed's based on the comment below about Lozano perhaps being a Sanchez replacement, is there any firm interest in Sanchez? I did RTP but all I can see so far is that he'd be difficult to move on.

{Ed002's Note - No. As I have explained it will be very difficult to move him on.}

1.) 10 Apr 2019 12:36:02
Thanks Ed.

2.) 10 Apr 2019 12:36:36
Ed002 is it true Sanchez signed a 5 year contract. If, so that seems an excessive contract given his age.

{Ed002's Note - 4.5 years.}

3.) 10 Apr 2019 14:38:16
Thanks ED002. Seems a ridiculous contract to hand out.

Can you give your opinion on Woodward at all?

{Ed002's Note - It has not changed from what I have previously said.}

4.) 10 Apr 2019 17:17:37
Tha is ED, I can't quite remember what you said, I'll try and search.

04 Dec 2018 23:36:04
Do United still hold interest in Mourinho's summer targets such as the likes of Perisic and Alderweireld? Or can we expect a compromise of sorts due to other's clear resistance at signing 'older' players?

If Mourinho is to stay then surely the board either need to go after his targets, or Mourinho is made to shift his approach and target different players which would completely go against who he is and the type of player he has targeted historically.

Can we expect to see any youth players step up as the season progresses or will that purely be down to any injuries to first-team players?

1.) 05 Dec 2018 10:45:22
I suspect we will have a very quiet January window due to the uncertainty of the managers position. We might see a player or two leave if the right offers cone in for the right players (Darmian, Rojo ect maybe) .

But I don't see any significant players joining, at most maybe a youngster or two for the academy.

2.) 05 Dec 2018 15:08:56
I think the same Shappy. When the January window closes we will have a good idea as to Mourinho’s fate.

3.) 05 Dec 2018 15:34:45
I think if a player who is of top quality becomes avaliable such as alderweireld we would still go in for him because even if a new manager comes in, he's not the type of player who can't adapt to a new manager.

But agree we should use the january window to get rid of players. Romero, valencia, young, smalling, jones, rojo, herrera, matic, fellaini, periera, sanchez, darmian etc would probably be for sale before you even get to players who want to leave such as pogba bailly and martial.

4.) 05 Dec 2018 18:02:40
I think we could see a much busier January window in general than previous years. With the summer window shutting early I think there were lots of potential deals not completed because the selling clubs were reluctant to lose players with little time to replace them.
I guess time will tell, eh.

07 Aug 2018 11:41:29
It's getting late in the window but if Pogba does leave in the coming days would anyone take Ramsey as his replacement?

I'm not saying it will happen, just trying to draw names who could replace PP if he leaves.

Last season Ramsey scored more goals, same assists per minute, less shots per goal, more on target, same passing accuracy, less cards. He basically does what we employ Pogba to do but a bit better in a weaker team (! ) .

Probably be available for a reasonable price with 1 year remaining on his contract and would take up half of the wages that Pogba does.

Would anyone else take Ramsey or offer up any other names we've not already been linked with?

1.) 07 Aug 2018 11:49:00
Would love one of the below -

2.) 07 Aug 2018 11:52:51
Big fan of Ramsey if played in the correct position!

3.) 07 Aug 2018 12:26:22
would love Erickson from spurs.

4.) 07 Aug 2018 13:17:21
Prefer Verrati to any of them.

5.) 07 Aug 2018 13:54:34

I presume you mean Eriksen? They want £60m for a defender in the last year of his contract, I imagine Levy would want £250m for Eriksen, no thanks.

6.) 07 Aug 2018 12:56:14
Bolger - iirc we were favourites to sign Eriksen around the time he was breaking through at Ajax but SAF thought he was too slow for the Premier League. I seem to remember us playing Ajax at the time and he did stand out.

He's a great player to watch on his day.

7.) 07 Aug 2018 14:03:12
Pogba is better than all of them. There is nobody we could realistically sign who will be anywhere near as capable as Pogba. Disaster if we sell him.

8.) 07 Aug 2018 14:52:00
yeah GDS that one,

not the phone company.

9.) 07 Aug 2018 14:54:14

he does have the ability to be one of the best, but he doesn't have the work rate to fulfill this.

if we are honest with ourselves he hasn't done anything to warrent the fee we paid.

if players don't want to play for us then just get rid.

10.) 07 Aug 2018 16:46:19
If we sell him we will regret it. I reckon Pogba absolutely does want to play for Utd, he doesn't get used to his strength and doesn't like Mourinho - a very common occurence it would seem. The boy has immense talent, he has ego and he bossed the World Cup with France. Whoever replaces Moirinho (when he inevitably gets the sack) will want Pogba in their team!

11.) 07 Aug 2018 17:37:31
I wish that you are right so72 however I don't think he cares about the club, only himself.

12.) 08 Aug 2018 17:27:50
Pogba has been played in a midfield two and played very well, and then in a three (his preferred position if his large agent is to be believed) and he has flattered to deceive.

I don’t buy into this whole Mourinho doesn’t get the best out of him nonsense. Midfielders should be able to play with tactical discipline and still express themselves. He hasn’t really done that since he’s returned, definitely not at the level FIFA players seem to think he is capable of. I don’t particularly like my manager, but I still have a job to do and I like the company I work for, therefore I do it to the best of my ability. PS I’m not getting paid 300k per week for it.

So regardless of ‘unfinished business’ at United for him, and taking misplaced romanticism out of the equation, he has been a disappointment and done little to show he is capable of performing week in, week out in the premier League. He has bags of ability but I’m not sure he has the mentality to really make a difference at our club. Give me SMS, Pjanic, Modric over him any day of the week.

What do people think to the start Daniel James has made so far?

001 what are your thoughts on the player?

{Ed001's Note - good talent, plenty of pace, good technique. He has got off to a good start but he needs to keep working and not think he has made it.}

1.) 03 Sep 2019 22:28:53
He seems to be well grounded ed001 nobody with anything but good to say about him. His final ball will improve but with his pace he will trouble the very best of defenders. I agree if he stays on the right path he has a great chance.

{Ed001's Note - he does seem it but even the most grounded can lose their head when they are getting feted like he is.}

2.) 03 Sep 2019 22:32:51
i agree with ed001 here, very good start but he needs to keep working and not think he has made it.

3.) 04 Sep 2019 06:18:19
His electric pace is a great asset and he works really hard for the team.
With the right pass at the right moment, he can be a game changer at any point in the match.
Moreover, he seems humble and down to earth.

Solid addition to the team.

4.) 04 Sep 2019 11:04:54
Good for him, he is trying to snatch an opportunity but will not take United to the CL this season. Recruitment has been a shambles.

5.) 04 Sep 2019 11:48:46
He looks good. He needs to focus on end product. Goals, assists, key passes, fouls won. Plus work hard defensively.

I would also encourage him to keep playing those dangerous crosses across the 6 yard box that are in behind the defense. Our strikers and forwards need to learn to get there for the easy tap in. Sterling scores bags of goals by far post tap in, time our team started adding these types of goals.

30 Aug 2019 12:39:13
Nur-Sultan in Kazakhstan is one hell of a journey for a Thursday!

1.) 30 Aug 2019 13:30:37
Nice 👍👍👍👍.

2.) 30 Aug 2019 20:09:21
I'd send the a squad of 2nd string and youngesters away to that game. If we win the three home games then we should go through with a point or two away. can't expect to field a full strength side out there and play in the PL on the Sunday. The travelling will be tiring even sitting in first class.

3.) 30 Aug 2019 21:28:00
Totally agree Brendan, I would be stunned if more than two of the players who play in that game away will play in the Sunday game that follows it.

4.) 30 Aug 2019 21:43:15
I’m sure that will be the case Brendan. No disrespect to the opposition but we should be beating them with our 2nd strongest side. There’s still an issue with preparation in terms of the manager and coaches having to make the trip.

14 Aug 2019 20:32:17
Eds, random question purely out of my own curiosity.

It's a lot slower on here since the transfer window closed, which is to be expected. But it seems a bigger dip than I can remember in 8 or so years visiting this site.

Have posts dried up or are the Eds taking a rest after the hectic transfer window? Is it relative as in the site is a lot busier now than ever before so the dip will be more noticeable?

Before you say it, I know I need to spend less time on here! 😂.

{Ed002's Note - The posts are not being deleted so it is what it is.}

1.) 14 Aug 2019 21:51:57
I wasn’t getting at that Ed, just asking if it’s genuinely this quiet as the difference is night and day 👍🏼.

2.) 14 Aug 2019 22:36:53
The window is closed Wazza, it will be busy around game days, and quiet when there is no game,

3.) 14 Aug 2019 22:38:13
Wait till we lose a game wazza, the page will be flooded with negativity lol, enjoy the brief period of positivity on the page for once.

4.) 15 Aug 2019 00:09:52

I was going to say the same, it’s always quiet on here for a week after a win when nobody is overreacting and wants all the players sold.

5.) 15 Aug 2019 06:04:55
Some people spend way too much time on here. don't you all have jobs?

{Ed047's Note - it was particularly mental on this page in the window, I’d regularly be editing to find 18 or 20 posts to go up, put them up to find another load to find another load, I’m certain I could have sat all day just doing your page and I wasn’t the only one doing it.

I’m sure I replied to one of you asking if you guys had jobs! 😂

6.) 15 Aug 2019 06:42:11
DSG / GDS2 I forgot we won as well so that’s a fair point 😂.

7.) 15 Aug 2019 09:41:10
You forgot we won? I've watched motd2 about 30 times just to check it wasn't a dream so no chance of that happening!

8.) 16 Aug 2019 06:35:30
lol Ed047 :)

07 Aug 2019 09:36:50
Eds can we have a poll please?

Which of these options would you prefer?

1. Keep Pogba
2. Sign Coutinho
3. Sign Eriksen
4. Sign Dybala
5. Sign Fernandes.

{Ed033's Note -

Man United Options Poll

1.) 07 Aug 2019 10:34:43
Options 2,3,4 have all said get stuffed. Pogba wants out so can I have £1000 on the result being Fernandes.

2.) 07 Aug 2019 10:55:18
Fernandes would be the best signing. Would probably cost a similar amount to Ericsson haswell.

3.) 07 Aug 2019 12:17:57
Fernandes the clear winner here. Finally something most can agree on 😂.

06 Aug 2019 11:41:09
KIngEric, down the page you say we will finish 6th but 1 more signing changes that "completely"? Who do you think we will sign? Messi?

We have strengthened our two weakest positions and our defence now looks solid. CM looks our weakest area but with McT improving rapidly we may end the season with him as a guaranteed starter.

We also have some of the best young forwards around with Rashford, Greenwood and dare I say it even Martial looking sharp.

1 more CM or RW will no doubt improve us but I don't understand how fans see things in black and white so easily. The fact is we are all guessing and I question why some of our fans bother supporting the team if they head into every season stating facts like "we will definitely finish out side of the top 6" (United Addict), "We will finish behind Wolves, Everton and Leicester", "Ole will be sacked by christmas" and other ridiculous statements which are thrown around as absolute facts. How can you throw out such statements and be so negative towards the club before a ball has even been kicked?

We may see Greenwood chip in with 10+ goals this season. Rashford with 20. Martial with 15. We are seeing goals spread more evenly through teams which is proved by multiple golden boot winners last season.

I can't wait for Sunday. The football in pre-season, although only friendless, has been much better to watch. We have a much stronger defence than we've had for 5 years, our youngsters are looking very promising and we kick off with a blockbuster against Chelsea. Bring it on!

1.) 06 Aug 2019 12:12:31
Yeah Wazza. That's the silly logic for some fans. They just want some fancy new name.
I would rather wait, so that we get the player with the right profile. A prime example is Sancho.

There are so many positives so far.
Maguire brings a big presence in both boxes and will be goal threat from set pieces. He will also allow Lindelof to occupy his favored right sided CB spot.

AWB is solid defensively. The right sided attacker will therefore have much more freedom to attack.

Daniel James brings devasting pace and energy to the team.

McTominay seems like a direct replacement for Herrera.
Fred could settle in similar to Lindelof.

Moreover, Ole and the coaching staff believe in the likes of Greenwood, Chong and Gomes.

I feel we have gone back to our grassroots by signing british talents, giving opportunities to youth and attacking play style.
These are signs of lessons learnt from past seasons.
And their seem to be a clear direction we are heading to.
Isn't this what we need?

2.) 06 Aug 2019 12:21:59
So Wazza, others saying that we may not finish top 6 is not fact but then you saying Rashford will score 20 is fact. When was the last time he did that? Martial 15, the question is will he even turn up for 15 games or will he be sulking? Greenwood may chip in with 10 goals but then again he may not. So nothing is fact right now and it is not black or white rather a very shady grey. The reason that one signing (in the right position) will improve the team is that he will take the creation onus away from Pogba because on his off days, we tend to drop points and Pogba has more off days in a season than goals from Rashford.

With our defence we may ship in lesser goals than last season but with Lukaku out, we are short of 20 goals and i don't see where those are coming from.

3.) 06 Aug 2019 13:21:51
I see you just picked out one sentence of a full post to try and cause a debate. Good talk bro. :)

4.) 06 Aug 2019 13:59:51
How is that a reply to one sentence? I have covered lines from all your paragraphs buddy. I covered your forward line of Rashford, Martial and Greenwood. I admitted to a better defence although i wonder what happens to Dalot. I answered which player or type makes us stronger. So, in essence i am not in for a debate, just gave my opinion on where i see us stand.

And you used my name in your post so you picked out one poster to start a debate. Good talk bro. :)

5.) 06 Aug 2019 14:01:25
Sorry KingEric! I should have gone up the page to see the original poster. I misread your post to think that it was in response to my reply. Actually it was for Wazza. Apologies buddy.

6.) 06 Aug 2019 14:18:22
UA, I’m not saying Rashford will definitely score 20 goals. I’m hoping and speculating. It could happen, and I’d much rather go into a season in hope rather than telling everyone we are doomed.

I don’t understand why some “supporters” even bother watching us play, the only reason I can think is that you want to say I told you so if we somehow finish outside of the top 6.
I really can’t get my head around that outlook, wanting us to fail.

KE yes I did pick out one part of your post and it was perhaps u fortunate timing but it adds to all of the experts on here telling everyone that we are going to finish behind Everton. You say 1 more signing changes everything, but we’ve already made 3 good signings (imo) and yes another will surely improve us but I don’t get people writing us off while talking in absolutes. Top 4 should be the target this season and we should be backing the team throughout the campaign.

7.) 06 Aug 2019 15:09:52
UA. I appreciate the apology :)

8.) 06 Aug 2019 15:41:57
Wazza, would it make a difference if i said that we will win the treble this season? I don't go to the stadium to cheer for our team as i live 2000 miles away and my comments on this page do not make a difference to the team on the ground. I hope we do but i know we wont. So it's quite simple. My hopes and my expectations differ for the season. Now i am not saying that we will finish below other teams but we may similar to you saying about Rashford, s goal tally.

You need to calm down and stop calling out people who do not share your thoughts. We all hope for the best but somewhere deep down we know where we stand at the moment. So you can keep your head where it is and stop trying to put it around things that you don't see. You surely read what the Eds have to say about our current predicament, right? Did you read what Ed002 said about our appointment of Ole? Did you read what other Eds have said about our team?

9.) 06 Aug 2019 18:09:53
"We may see Greenwood chip in with 10+ goals this season. Rashford with 20. Martial with 15".

No facts expressed there. The clue is in the word, 'may', and the use of commas.

It's not as simple as that Damon. Sanchez has every right to see out the remaining years of his contract on full pay. If we can offload him, and negotiate a deal which costs the club less in the long term, that surely makes more sense than keeping a player on full salary who has no impact on the team.

19 Aug 2019 13:13:37
Why is that Damon? We gave Sanchez a massive contract.

It makes financial sense to subsidise some of the wages if the player moves, as the club he pays for is paying a portion of the wages and we are no longer left with the burden of 100% of his salary.

It also gets him away from the first team so we've not got a miserable player dragging others down.

Salford what has he done in a United shirt to warrant another chance?

Jesse is ahead of him and now arguably James and Greenwood too. James has already achieved 33% of what Sanchez has achieved. Difference is James did it in 20 minutes whereas Sanchez has had 18 months.

If he was serious about turning things around at United he should’ve pulled out of that international tournament to focus on his fitness and getting ready to claim his place in the team. But instead he came back injured and still isn’t match fit. You can’t keep giving chances to someone who isn’t willing to make it work for himself.

I like Jesse. He had a good first half against Wolves but the 2nd half was the polar opposite. I’m not saying he should be a starter and we do need someone like Bruno Fernandes in his position, but he’s a good player to have in the squad and he has a habit of scoring at Wembley.

Well said Ken.

Before the window opened everybody was saying we need to A. Bring in a RB and CB and B. Shift a good number of players.

We’ve done exactly that, and only after we signed a RB and CB did people start demanding a CM.

There will always be one area of the pitch that is deemed the weakest. I’m sure we will bring in a CM and a RW by the time the next summer window closes. Then people will likely be demanding a new LB. Rinse and repeat.
