Good morning Ed I hope you're keeping well.

Do you happen to know if PSG (or anyone else for that matter) retains an interest in Marcus Rashford?

Wazza

{Ed002's Note - No and he has signed a new long-term contract.}

1.) 02 Nov 2023 12:55:23
Thanks for your reply Ed, have a good day.

{Ed002's Note - And you.}

2.) 02 Nov 2023 19:45:34
That’s a shame. I’ve said it for years, he gets away with murder because he’s from Wythenshawe, and he fed kids for a little while.

He’s been in the first team squad for probably 7/ 8 years now and still sulks, still walks round with zero effort, can’t be arsed to track back, still makes wrong choices more often than not. Apart from 3 good months last season when he needed a new bumper contract he’s been useless. Vastly overrated and I’d be happy to see him sold. I’d said it time and time again.

3.) 02 Nov 2023 22:03:21
I was one of his biggest supporters but my patience ran out a while ago, he's capable of great things but rarely does them. A humble kid who now has all the bling that goes with being a young footballer, he should have been dropped months ago. It's the lack of effort that gets me.

A few years ago he was carrying the team and then he got injured against Wolves. Since then he has been awful, apart from a hot spell last year. He's an established international who should be setting an example, not moping around the pitch.

4.) 03 Nov 2023 07:49:21
Unfortunately Marcus is just too inconsistent, great for a few months, then retreats into his shell when his form dips.

At the moment he seems unable or unwilling to do the hard work to recapture that form,

The biggest issue at the moment is the lack of leadership within that squad. Nobody seems willing to stand up and drag themselves out of the mira they have got themselves into, but is not the first time we have seen this is it.

5.) 03 Nov 2023 10:57:47
I feel pretty mixed about Rashford. Clearly he's a talented player and on form one of our best players. He does tend to blow hot and cold which isn't ideal, but there are many other players that need replacing before him. I don't think his streaky form is a massive issue, the problem is that we rely far too much on him to perform as there is no one else. Rooney used to have streaky form in front of goal, wouldn't score for 3-4 weeks then score 10 goals in a month. The difference is Rooney had class players around him to score the goals when he wasn't. If Hojlund and Antony were scoring 20-25 goals each a season and Bruno and Mount chipping in with 15 goals a piece then Rashford going 4 or 5 games without a goal wouldn't be a problem.

Without knowing someone personally I prefer not to judge a persons character. He worked hard to make sure kids didn't go hungry during the C.V., that would suggest that he has some moral fibre at least.

His demeanour on the pitch this season hasn't been great and I understand people's frustrations, especially as his poor form is not helping the club pull itself out of this current funk we are in.

However, it might be a chicken/ egg situation here. Are United in poor form because Rashford is in poor form, or is Rashford in poor form because United are in poor form. We also don't know what is happening in his private life, or whether there might be legitimate reasons for his apparent apathy on the pitch. Which to be fair to him isn't how he has normally appeared on the pitch, typically he has always been a hard working player even when his form hasn't been great. That would suggest that something isn't quite right with him right now.

Either way unless he is actually a disruptive influence in the dressing room (which I doubt as all his managers right from LvG to EtH have trusted him and backed him), then he should stay at the club at least in the short to medium term. He has the talent, the question is whether he has the attitude. I'd expect the club to keep him for the next 2-3 years at least while they dramatically improve other areas of the squad. You never know by that time Garnacho may have over taken him and Rashford might be looking to leave himself.

6.) 03 Nov 2023 14:47:42
Rash is our best player in the squad, better than hoiland garnacho, sancho and whoever you want to name folks. I used to read this same page when people used to take out their frustration on Rooney. Don't confuse bad form and poor results as a team with Marcus Rashford being a problem at United. About 15 players need changing before we think Rashford is not good enough.

I am waiting for someone to tell me Wayne Rooney was overrated:)

different players but both very good.

7.) 03 Nov 2023 17:42:19
Rooney was amazing, but towards the end he stayed too long. Rashford isn’t in the same league as Rooney and never will be.

He has a good few months every few years, the last one when he wanted a new contract. He is either a player who needs to be high on confidence to show what he can do, but who also has huge confidence issues, or he just can’t be arsed half of the time. I hope it is the first, but either way it isn’t good enough.

That said his decision making and end product is very poor most of the time.

8.) 03 Nov 2023 22:15:31
Ahmad, Rashford is a problem and the reason I asked if there’s interest is because he needs to leave. He’s another with off the pitch issues which will cause fractions on the squad.

9.) 04 Nov 2023 08:31:27
Wazza

Why is he a problem. does the front 5/ 6 look like they are doing anything for everyone to Clamor on Rashford. Garnacho started by all account against NC B team. Did he do anything different.

Off the pitch stuff like having had a birthday party planned and going through with it was probably not the best idea but let's not blow things out of proportion.

Talk to any ex players, who have played at the highest level, they laugh if you bring up rash as a problem in the conversation. Can every United Manager, who seems to start him with no questions asked and all these players be wrong.

Why use a different standard for him compared to others in the squad. Good things happen when we get the ball to Rashford properly and not him looking at 3 defenders.

If we are going to get ourselves out of this funk rash and Bruno are the ones that will need to drag us out of this. Not many in this squad, who can do what these two are capable of. Its not coincidence we are struggling when you look at their numbers this year.

I personally think Bruno is a bigger issue as his influence is zip in too many games and he is suppose to be the creator hub.

I really rate Garnacho btw and its not about putting one down for the other.

10.) 04 Nov 2023 10:28:30
This site must only have nuns and monks posting on here apparently. Not a single person on here has ever gone out for a night out, been to a party, or turned up for work hungover.

This holier than thou attitude against young men doing what young men do is frankly ridiculous and so incredibly hypocritical.

There is a difference between players not working hard in training and not focusing on their careers and players blowing off a little steam and having a private life.

People regularly point to Roy Keane as having the perfect attitude as a player, people say they want someone with Keane's grit and attitude on the pitch right now. However, they conveniently forget that Keane has admitted trying to get himself sent off because he was struggling with a hangover.

11.) 04 Nov 2023 11:04:04
Shappy

If you read the stuff sharp has said over the years and what they got up to makes todays players are saints and take much better care of themselves.

Luckhurst title and hit job of an article on rash and eth regarding him being out on his birthday and reading what Eth actually said speaks volumes for how bad the reporting is atm and how things get overblown.

12.) 04 Nov 2023 11:31:10
I have no issue with any player celebrating their birthday, or having an evening out to blow off steam. However I do feel that they need to accept that if they are playing like sh*t, seeming to those outside looking in like they are uninterested, and have just been smashed at home by City again, that they will get a lot of stick for that.

If Rashford was obviously putting 100% in, and was having a positive effect on the team etc, then this is not a story, however it is the complete opposite of that, and when you are paid more in one week than most of the people in the stadium are paid in maybe 5-10 years, not seeming to be giving everything and then going out late is going to end up with you getting called out. I have no issue with that either.

13.) 04 Nov 2023 12:34:55
Ahmed and Shappy you simply do not know what has gone on and that’s fine because it’s (thankfully) not in the media. It’s not about 1 night out.

14.) 04 Nov 2023 15:15:11
Wazza

Please share happy to hear and mean it honestly if there is more to this.

15.) 04 Nov 2023 15:31:28
Ahmad, the club is a cess pit of questionable morals at the moment. Its enough for the player’s appearances to be affected and that’s why I asked the question, but an open forum is not the place.

Hi Ed do you have any further info on the links to Hakan Calhanoglu? I believe he is out of contract this summer?

I recall you saying a while back that his agent would prefer a move to England.

Wazza

{Ed002's Note - Hakan Calhanoglu (AM/LW) Player wants a new contract - Milan will oblige if agreement can be reached over his wages - and it may depend on what happens with loanee Bahim Diaz. Atletico and Juventus have asked his German-based agent if a move is possible for them. The agent remains keen on the idea to try the player out in England or Germany but may have to accept staying in Milan - which I would expect to happen.}

1.) 14 Mar 2021 21:25:18
Thanks for your quick reply Ed 👍.

11 Jan 2021 14:09:13
According to Fabrizio Romano.

TFM looks to be off to Leverkusen.

Boubakary Soumaré and Max Aarons continue to be scouted.

Ole has said don't expect any more incomings in January, but 2 or 3 could leave.

Wazza

1.) 11 Jan 2021 14:46:29
TFM needs a fresh start. He certainly won't be missed by the fans as he has hardly featured for the club. His loan spells in the EPL have been and blighted with injuries. Hopefully it works out for him.

Hopefully Rojo, Romero and Jones get moves.

2.) 11 Jan 2021 17:00:38
The rest may well get moves, but I’m not sure we could give Jones away tbh 🤣.

3.) 11 Jan 2021 19:56:26
I live in hope.

4.) 11 Jan 2021 20:21:41
Tfm refused the new contract offer. Willams a far better player imo so its good all round. Not much off the wage bill. He was the worst paid in the squad at 18k a well reputedly.
Rojo romero and jones cost a combined 12m a year plus so it would be a nice wedge to save for players that make no contribution.
Id like jesse to get a move for his own sake. Nice lad and a real 100% type of guy. He will make a good player for the right team.

5.) 11 Jan 2021 20:59:10
Ken I think Lingard would do well somewhere like Villa. They are a hard working team. Lingard isn’t at the level we need but nobody can fault his work rate on the pitch. Be good to see him get regular starts for someone after he scored some important goals for us.

6.) 11 Jan 2021 21:04:34
There is a huge list of players the club need to move on. Romero, Rojo, Jones, TFM, Andreas Pereira and Lingard are the ones who desperately need to go.

Romero is the only one who is close to good enough and we still have two better keepers than him in Henderson and DDG.

Then we have a group of players such as Bailly, Shaw, Matic, Mata, James, Pogba, Fred, Martial, Cavani etc.

Players who are either getting older and will soon need replacing, don't want to be here or who it is questionable about them being good enough.

I wouldn't worry too much about TFM.

7.) 11 Jan 2021 21:58:32
Shappy i wouldn't say we have two keepers better than Romero. Henderson maybe will become better and i wish he becomes world class. But i don't feel safe with him in goalposts, i felt always safe with Romero, he was always solid.

8.) 11 Jan 2021 22:03:49
Don’t get too carried away with Henderson Shappy. He’s not looked convincing yet. He seems over eager to please. Romero is certainly the better goalkeeper, for now.

9.) 12 Jan 2021 00:37:27
Agree on hendo. Ddg has dropped a level but still I have more peace of mind with him than hendo. He should have got another loan really.

As for jesse he’s lovable and he’s been through a lot, he’s a decent squad player but I wouldn’t begrudge him looking elsewhere for starting berth. Time will tell.

10.) 13 Jan 2021 17:48:33
Thank goodness TFM has gone. Nothing made me more angry than when we sent him on to ‘save the day’ in the semi vs. Sevilla. Good riddance.
Agreed that Lingard to Villa would be good for both parties. 50m plus Lingard for Grealish. One can dream!

07 Dec 2020 15:52:32
Ed002 with Raiola today quoted as saying it's over for PP at Manchester United, can you tell us if a deal has been agreed for his departure?

Wazza

{Ed002's Note - There is nothing formal in terms of an agreement - this is no more than confirming what has been known for some time.}

1.) 07 Dec 2020 16:32:06
OK thank you Ed, have a great week.

2.) 07 Dec 2020 16:37:15
On the eve of our biggest game of the season, this joke of an agent comes up with this.
Now, the rest of the season will be speculation about Pogba's departure.
Disgraceful.

3.) 07 Dec 2020 17:00:48
Perfect timing for Raiola, Pogba has been out of the team for a while, and as such his profile will drop a little. So now Pogba plays and scores at the weekend, his stock and profile have risen, United have a big game tomorrow and the Manchester derby on the weekend. Focus is on United and Pogba, so for Mino this is the perfect moment to put it out there that Pogba is available, the January transfer window opens in little over 3 weeks time.

Ship him out, play Donny in midfield and let's be rid of this circus.

4.) 07 Dec 2020 17:02:12
The rest of the season will be that way regardless TRD, it's been that way since he arrived. But you're right about the timing, it's not ideal but then it never is.

5.) 07 Dec 2020 17:56:49
He can take lingard and Martial with him.

6.) 07 Dec 2020 18:37:56
Not sure one goal raises his stock. Pogba's issue, much like Ole's is consistency. For me Pogba is more a luxury player that compliments an already outstanding team. We bought him to lead our team, which it turns out he was never capable of achieving. Shame as he has all the attributes except the most important one, mentality.

7.) 07 Dec 2020 21:24:16
Mad hatter any room in that suit case for rojo jones and bailly.

8.) 07 Dec 2020 22:29:52
What club is going to pay the money we want for him?

9.) 08 Dec 2020 07:05:56
Ken,

We would end up having to pay a fee for "excessive baggage".

10 Oct 2020 07:24:45
Hi Eds can I ask if United are still looking at Sarr or Brooks while the domestic window is still open, or will that be it for this summer?

Wazza

{Ed002's Note - I would think it unlikely.}

1.) 10 Oct 2020 12:12:17
Thanks for the quick reply Ed, have a good weekend.

{Ed002's Note - And you.}

2.) 10 Oct 2020 13:55:36
Where would they play or even play? We have signed two wingers. With Cavani, martial and Rashford can play on the wings aswell.

ED002, I take Ighalo will leave and go back to China in January?

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any other option at this tiem - he could be offered to MU at a vey low price.}

3.) 10 Oct 2020 19:07:07
Which wingers MH? Are you talking about the kiddies who have signed for the U23s?

4.) 12 Oct 2020 09:14:16
Wazza,

Yea I am. At the end of the day those youngsters will be out future, well hopefully. Sarr is if a similar age to those youngsters.

Interesting quote from Sevilla's manager on Hannibal after not including him in the squad.

"After being with him, talking to him and having seen his first minutes in Girona, we are going to give him the necessary space to understand where he is, that he is at Sevilla and what it means"

What are people's thoughts on this? For me, Hannibal came through when standards at the club were at rock bottom. Many said he should be given more starts in our depleted midfield but personally I think he's had enough chances, and it says a lot that he couldn't nail down a spot during an injury crisis.

Interesting also that Martial went to Sevilla and couldn't get in the side. What must they think is going on.

Wazza

1.) 27 Jan 2024 18:26:54
Personally I think Hannibal should move on. He isn’t up to the standard of player we should be aspiring to employ.

2.) 27 Jan 2024 20:04:43
He is too rash, red card waiting to happen every game.

3.) 27 Jan 2024 20:23:37
If he’s not sure of his attitude he should read this site, apparently Hannibal is the next Roy Keane and should be in our first team! Another player who people raved about because he kicked a few people
Miles off standard we need and it appears his attitude is lacking too!

4.) 27 Jan 2024 23:05:43
Some people here were clamouring about him and as usual eth was clueless for not picking him. Reality is none of them pellistri, hanibal etc etc are good enough to be a squad player at united because the gap in quality is too far compared to guys who start ahead of them.

We have better talent sitting in our under 18s compared to these guys. Give it 2/ 3 years.

5.) 27 Jan 2024 19:39:59
Seemingly no mystery Wazza, as we know Hannibal is a quiet, unassuming, non confrontational sort of chap and apparently, quite out of character, he was involved in a confrontation with a teammate during a training session, which he continued in the dressing room.

Who would of thought eh! Just because he did the same thing with us 18 months ago.

14 Jan 2024 14:42:10
I see Dwight Yorke's favourite, Marcus Rashford, has been sending love hearts to his mate on Instagram.

I wonder how long Rashford will remain a United player. It's rare to hear fans consistently getting on the players back inside OT, but Rashford is certainly rubbing people up the wrong way recently with poor performances, questionable decisions off the field, and now this.

It seems the manager will be gone first, and bosom buddies Rashford and Sancho will then get to play together again.

Moving on, I'm looking forward to potentially seeing Licha back tomorrow amongst others. Spurs are very much depleted so now seems a good time to play them. Sarr and Bissouma bossed us last time out, but neither are available this time.

Wazza

1.) 15 Jan 2024 05:54:21
We got outplayed in midfield again unfortunately. Can't put 5 passes together to break a press. Technically physically and pace not there.

2.) 15 Jan 2024 08:25:31
I didn't think the performance was too bad against a really good team, albeit both weakened teams. Great to see Martinez back and Casemiro on the bench, but I can't see how having those two in the team is suddenly going to make us any more exciting or like there's a plan. I think the team will still lack a really creative player that makes things happen, at the minute all we really have is Bruno or Eriksen to do that. Maybe Mount will make a difference.

3.) 15 Jan 2024 11:36:17
The issue is we can’t function when Bruno is paired with either Eriksen or McT as neither know how to or want to defend. Mainoo was exposed through that game yesterday, but I was impressed with his strength and composure. He looks excellent. Him and Cas together is going to work nicely I think, letting Bruno do what he does best.

4.) 15 Jan 2024 11:38:08
As for Mount, he’s the biggest unknown yet as to where he slots in to the puzzle.

5.) 15 Jan 2024 17:14:22
I love Mainoo but it was his worst game for us yesterday.

6.) 15 Jan 2024 17:29:17
I'd like him to slot in instead if Bruno as I think he is our biggest problem in midfield In terms of never being where he should be out of possession.
I don't know his instructions if course but he leaves huge gaps when chasing around.
He is a really good player in many aspects but for me he is working hard but leaves us exposed.

7.) 15 Jan 2024 18:46:59
We need Cas back to play with Mainoo. On paper we sacrifice eriksen's passing ability but yesterday he had 13 passes in 58 minutes and a completion rate of 68%. Pretty awful given that's why he is on the pitch. The stats from yesterday including duels won and etc etc were pretty bad. He was 6 yards behind Bentancor on their second goal.

8.) 15 Jan 2024 19:02:34
I agree with Tumbleweed. Bruno is all over the show. Very indisciplined and for the most part he is ineffective. Spurs’ midfield should not have been dominating the match. Mainoo good but Eriksen and Bruno are not good enough. Neither is a top player. Defensively we were poor. Allowed opposition to overpower us at times and afforded them too much space.

9.) 15 Jan 2024 19:23:30
Did you look up any interesting stats on the players you like ahmad?.

10.) 15 Jan 2024 20:19:10
LOl, did not look up any stats just read an article on it.

11.) 16 Jan 2024 10:54:31
Casameiro was being criticized for his performances early in the season but how much of that was down to how much he was left exposed with Mount and Eriksen in midfield and him left doing all the defensive work.

12.) 16 Jan 2024 11:11:52
Can we have a run of games without Fernandes in the starting line up to see how we fair and change? Surely when the sides stinking out the place it’s not to much to ask.

13.) 16 Jan 2024 13:00:40
It will be a circus if he benches Fernandes. I think Mainoo, cas Fernandes is the best set up. Cas has had a similar season to Martinez, came back not looking match fit got injured, came back and had a proper one. He is a class class player and did not turn into a rust bucket in 6 months. Mount as an option to Bruno is a good shout. He i'd not as wasteful with the ball.

Eriksen just has no pace and in tough games a decent option late as a sub. I think next year is his last year on his contract, can't see us extending it. Great player but age has caught up.

14.) 16 Jan 2024 18:00:57
So what you’re saying ahmad is that the player is undroppable and should be played when fit otherwise he will kick up a stink?

15.) 16 Jan 2024 18:48:28
We have several problems that the manager needs to solve in terms of finding the right blend of players in the right positions to create a balanced and coherent team.

While there are plenty of critics for Bruno and Rashford, the reality is that they are responsible for nearly 70% of the goals we have scored over the past three seasons.

I don't think it's a case of replacing them, but finding a way to build a team that gets the best out of them, while mitigating their weaknesses.

Not that it's quite possible right now, but longer term I'd look to move Bruno to the RW position and then get the RB to play very high and advanced to provide width allowing Bruno to drift in field and play in the right hand side inside channel.

That would allow Mount to play as the No.10. He's a hard worker, will track back and help out in midfield far more, and is much less likely to give the ball away in dangerous central areas.

Bruno playing as the starting RW means we don't have to sign another RW this summer and can focus funds elsewhere. Especially as Antony won't be sold and Amad will hopefully be able to challenge Bruno for a starting spot.

With Bruno playing that role, we don't lose his creativity, but we will have more control and better defensive solidity centrally. Plus it'd be great to actually have a creative threat coming from the right hand side.

The two things we'd need to do to get that to work is to play with a double pivot, we'd need an extra body deeper to be able to come across and defend the right hand side as we'd have Bruno not tracking back effectively at RW and would have our RB playing very advanced.

With our current squad a double pivot of Casemiro and Mainoo would be best. But we'd need more reinforcements in those deeper midfield roles come the summer.

We'd also need to sign a RB to be first choice who is very comfortable playing high and wide. Someone like Frimpong would be ideal if possible. Probably move AWB on as he really doesn't suit that role, then have Dalot as back up. Dalot could play that role, he's quick, technically able and has a very good cross on him. Although Ideal we'd want someone more consistent and who can play a level above what Dalot can.

16.) 16 Jan 2024 22:44:12
Bruno is not a right winger Shappy we cannot go on putting square pegs in round holes.
You speak about Rashford and Bruno contributing to 70% of the goals over the past 3 seasons. How many goals is that 70%? It’s 108 in all competitions and they are the previous 3 full seasons as we are only half way through.
Both Rashford and Bruno combined goals in the
2020-21 season: 49
2021-22 season: 15
2022-23 season: 34
These stats for attacking players are not that good 20/ 21 is their best and not a bad season. 34 last season mainly came from Rashford.

The likes of Mbappe, Kane, Ronaldo or Haaland leave them in dust single handedly.
This season they combine: 10 goals. It’s hypothetical but we could have 2 other players contributing a lot more efficiently than these to make the team score more, isn’t that why we wanted rid of Ronaldo because people would aim just for him?

17.) 17 Jan 2024 03:26:19
Dalot is terrible and cannot cross.

18.) 17 Jan 2024 07:44:18
G_Nev

He is our best option available atm. I have said all along he is having a poor season imo and he is very careless with losing possession. He drifts too much into right wing and left wing. Mount is the only guy in the squad although different that I can see playing as a 10 but he has hardly played and like the rest been injured.

If you are eth and all the noise around the club the last thing you want is giving the media and pundits a field day to invent stories they will invent if he was to drop Fernandes. Its just common sense stuff if you are in his shoes. We can't be going from one crisis to another constantly and some quite would do the club, players, managers good.

19.) 17 Jan 2024 16:34:15
There would be no noise if it improved results.

20.) 17 Jan 2024 18:23:14
? Tumbleweed hit the nail on the head. Why are we not allowed to put it down to rotation any more and competitiveness for places? Sir Alex wouldn’t play who he likes and not a whisper unless it was Rooney or Giggs for off the field issues.
This total nonsense my captain shall always play attitude is ruining the club. How does the likes of Mount feel when he won’t ever play in his preferred position in fear of upsetting Fernandes? Garnancho will push Rashford out if we have any decent right winger coming in as he has with Antony so something needs to budge regarding Fernandes as well.

21.) 18 Jan 2024 11:24:56
Who would you play instead of Bruno atm or last 6 to 8 weeks.

22.) 18 Jan 2024 14:06:21
I would play 3-5-1-1 currently until we could form a solid base, and start holding onto the ball better. The 3 in midfield would be mainoo, casemiro, amrabat/ eriksen and the 2 would be Hoijlund and Mount. Rashford/ Bruno as subs.
Left of the 5 would be shaw and Right Garnacho, in defensive periods be 5-3-2.
Rcb awb
Cb varane
Lcb Martinez.

23.) 19 Jan 2024 07:56:45
So, Shappy, you would put Bruno at RW, and Rashford left, so where would Garnacho play?

24.) 19 Jan 2024 08:51:21
EtH makes some strange calls to say the least. But none of us would last more than 30 minutes managing Manchester United. Do we not think EtH considers all of these factors, and a million more, every day?

25.) 19 Jan 2024 14:12:17
Alleluia spenno. Spot on.

26.) 19 Jan 2024 21:19:30
Garnacho at rwb? Surely not.

08 Jan 2024 22:17:59
How is Mainoo only 18? A local lad as well, he's so tidy with the ball and barely misses a tackle.

Would be good to get a profile on him Ed001 if you have time.

{Ed001's Note - I have added him to the list for you Wazza.}

1.) 08 Jan 2024 22:54:51
He looked very assured tonight again. Played well.

Rash on the other hand was bad - wrong deciding w every time he got the ball.

Hojlund missed some sitters tonight.

2.) 08 Jan 2024 23:10:46
Wasn't his best game Eric, looked a bit erratic and misplaced a lot of passes but he will learn from it hopefully.

3.) 09 Jan 2024 06:17:25
Thanks Ed ?.

{Ed001's Note - very welcome.}

4.) 09 Jan 2024 06:58:03
True Danny. Rasmus is still only 20 so he has time. Rashford I fear is running out of it though. His crossing is non existent, and made the wrong decision (usually to shoot or lose the ball) every time. Quite worrying just how bad his form is.

5.) 09 Jan 2024 07:13:58
Think you watched a different game to me Eric. Rashford has been pretty poor all season but I thought he was much better last night.

6.) 09 Jan 2024 08:08:27
AJH I reckon I was watching a different game for sure. IMO Rash was shocking.

7.) 09 Jan 2024 08:49:16
AJH

I thought rash was okay and yes comparative to some of his other games better. I hate it when wingers step on the ball and don't move the ball when there is nothing there, he did it a few times last night. Antony does it a lot and guranteed we lose the ball most times and I can't stand it. Don't get what they are trying to do, use it or pass it on. Neither are ronaldinho

He is trying too hard imo taking too many touches trying to score and needs to just relax and it will come.

All really good striker who are in form generally one touch and shoot it and sometimes no touch. Halland was like that last year. Mbappe all the time and it does not allow defenders and goalies to set themselves.

Hoiland had a poor game last night, there was plenty of service for him to score a couple. Garnacho and Maninoo for me were brilliant.

Back 4 also solid. Dalot who some do not like which I disagree is an excellent player and so durable. he does a lot of miles every game and plays a lot of minutes, gets up and down the pitch all game.

8.) 09 Jan 2024 09:16:41
Thought Rashford had one of his better games this season however he has set the bar very low this season. He should be taking these games by the scruff of the neck and getting taking off after 60/ 70 mins because he’s won the game.

9.) 09 Jan 2024 09:46:02
Good professional performance by the team whilst nothing special, Mainoo looking very mature for his age and looking forward to seeing him next to Casimero when he returns.
Will be interesting what happens with Rashford over the next 18 months with the new leadership structure. I can imagine that they will not want to lose a home grown player in his prime years but there will be a time where he needs to produce to justify the high wages he gets considering the apparent long term plan to reduce these sort of deals.
He has the ability to go on a run of performances like last year and if the team improves it will help him do this whilst taking the pressure off to do it all himself.

10.) 09 Jan 2024 09:56:47
I thought he was awful, his body language was bas as well.
i counted 3-4 times when he had the ball on the touch line and underplayed his pass which resulted in us loosing the ball of involved a United player having to go in for a 50/ 50 ball which could of caused injury. It was also the way he passed it, like he couldn't even be arsed.
Couldn't beat a man, couldn't cross a ball.
I would sell him in a heartbeat if an offer came in.

11.) 09 Jan 2024 10:08:56
The bar is on the floor so yes he was a bit better last night but I tend to agree with some of the comments.
Our play us slow stop start turn back keep possession and then often lose it because of poor movement lack of options and poor teckkers.
His body language is not good and I would want more.
Mainoo oozes class and composure.
Garnacho loses possession a lot but always trying to do something his decision making will improve. He is getting better all the time
Rasmus was wasteful and not clinical but I like his movement and effort there is a lot to like there but still very raw imo.
Those 3 young guys are going to be what the team is built around imo.
Along with martinez and maybe a couple more.
Brighter times ahead I hope.

12.) 09 Jan 2024 10:14:12
In all fairness to Hoijlund, whilst still not the finished article, has been starved of service pretty much all year.

Had he had that level of service from earlier in the season he would now likely be tapping them in for fun having got rid of his nerves and being full of confidence.

At this stage he is desperate to score and like Rashford perhaps needs to take a step backwards to move forwards.

I sincerely hope Rash gets his mojo back because something is going on, perhaps outside the game. He clearly has the talent if not the drive at the moment. Otherwise he needs to go for his own good as well as the clubs.

13.) 09 Jan 2024 10:49:02
I thought Rash was poor as well, but I understand some decisions, I feel he is trying to force start a good run of form and probably figured Wigan was a good opponent to do that against and build from there.

14.) 09 Jan 2024 12:54:41
Fizz, you are letting it all stress you, its just a game mate. ?.

15.) 09 Jan 2024 13:48:54
If you think that was good from Rashford then he really has fallen a long way. I’d play him up front right now to get back into form and take the load from Hojlund.

16.) 09 Jan 2024 16:00:08
Not one of Hojlund's better games, but I'd give him the benefit of the doubt after being laid low with an sickness.

17.) 09 Jan 2024 17:36:18
Not ‘stressing’ AJH. “It’s just a game” ? My Mum would wash your mouth with soap lad ?.

18.) 09 Jan 2024 19:56:42
Mbappe to Madrid
Rashford to psg?

19.) 10 Jan 2024 03:12:12
Chris

It will never happen. Anyone here who knows people at the club whether coaches, players, ex players and scouts or agents all think so so highly of him and dismiss any question marks about his quality. They value him extremely high and a must keep United player. I suspect he will be here until the end of his current contract as a minimum. They all think its a blip and it will pass.

It would take a astronomical offer and him wanting to go for the club to even consider it I am told.

We can agree or disagree but these guys see all these players everyday and they all can't be stupid or blind.

20.) 10 Jan 2024 10:44:55
I hope that you are right Chris1.

21.) 10 Jan 2024 12:02:10
They bought Antony…….

ETH looks a beaten man and the writing is on the wall. It's a great shame. Another manager thrown to the wolves by brain dead, lazy, entitled players. This manager I actually like, and I believe is the right man at the wrong club. I personally think he will go on to have a good career.

Casemiro summed it up last night. Young Hannibal gets booked (again, and he should not be selected for a while due to his poor discipline), then Casemiro, your captain and leader, gets booked himself moments later. At a time when he should be calming things down.

No discipline, no togetherness, and further evidence of a culture within the club that is completely rotten.

Well played to some of Newcastle's youngsters. They look a squad in harmony, who have unfortunately overtaken us on the pitch in the here and now.

Who knows what today will bring. It looks like the search for a new manager will be on, if not now, then by the international break at the latest.

1.) 02 Nov 2023 08:01:36
I think sadly, ETH will leave soon, the powers that be nd the players who have let down every manager since Sir Alex will remain. A new manager will come in, the players will look lively for a few weeks. Then will revert to type the moment they find something they don't like or feel they don't need to put in the effort any more.

Thus it will continue and we will scapegoat manager after manager whilst paying these clowns fortunes to run the club and those to wear the shirt that they are not worthy of.

2.) 02 Nov 2023 08:13:00
This is what happens when you let lunatics run the asylum

Who actually sits their and thinks what a great idea I know we’ll buy Maguire at twice what he is probably worth and pay him £190000 a week when not one other team was in for him and who sanctioned the Sancho and Anthony deals

There should not be one member of the upstairs team left. They’ve shown they couldn’t run a piss up in a brewery.

3.) 02 Nov 2023 08:34:14
I'm not calling for ETH's head but it does look like the writing is on the wall for him. The players have thrown yet another manager under the bus.

I just read down the page

"Weghorst was brought in to replace Ronaldo"

And it made me stop and think how utterly ridiculous our signings have been. If anything sums up our transfer activity for the past 10+ years, that is it.

He has been given minutes.

How do you know this is a falling out with the manager, rather than Diallo now performing well in training?

Hasn’t ETH dropped Antony to give your beloved Garnacho that position, with the latter starting something like 25 games in a row

This pesty manager, I really wish he’d give one or two teenagers a prolonged run in the team….

It’s an interesting comparison you made Shappy.

I remember clearly that a lot of people on here were clambering for Potter while he was at Brighton.

Back then he was at a very well run club on the up. Then at Chelsea he struggled - understandably - in and amongst their circus.

ETH is in the exact same position, only I’d argue that ETH has had a lot more to deal with at Manchester United than Potter at Chelsea, at least it seems that way from the outside.

You could argue that both managers took too big of a jump. Seeing how they got on at a Villa/ Spurs/ Dortmund/ Milan level of club may have been sensible and a more natural stepping stone in their career.

Ahmad that was just another very weak excuse to beat the manager. Of course Ken has absolutely no idea which players the manager rates or whether or not he’d like to sign Onana from Everton. It’s becoming an obsession.

Good post Bill, fair summary.

On ETH, I think he's already done enough to earn a season under a better structure, but it's become clear he won't get that.

As I keep saying, people easily forget where we were when he took over, and the dire off-field issues he's had to work through.

Season 1: League cup win, FA cup final, Europa semi-final, CL qualification
Season 2: FA cup final (likely)? CL qualification (hopeful)?

This after finishing 6th and standards dropping to levels not seen for 30+ years.

Dalot has been very good recently.

He's one of the players who can hold his head up this season and say that he gave it everything. I've said this before that I think he's become steady, and I mean that as a compliment. You know what you're going to get from him. As Ahmad says, a few goals and assists will make a big difference.

Nice Ken.

We have a tough run now. Of our next 5 PL games, 3 are away, and our 2 home games are Liverpool and Newcastle.

Fortunately, Villa and Spurs both have to play City, Liverpool and Arsenal in their last 10.

We may also rely on Spurs being Spursy.
